A/N: So from the reviews and the subtle hints I'm assuming y'all know who Rinan is by now...
*Magnolia year X810*
The dark haired teen smiled softly as the images of his parents flashed across the photo lacrima. As the years went by his mother had started on adding in more photos of their time together so that they would never forget and eventually it was passed on to him. Rinan sighed as he placed the worn down photo lacrima back into his bag, before a small shuffling noise to his left caught his attention.
"You shouldn't sneak up on people..." He told the lilac coloured exceed.
Lavender smiled somewhat, however they both knew that it wasn't her true smile. The exceed had grown some over the past few years however without her partner and best friend, she was no longer her jovial self.
"Sorry Rin-Kun, but we've got be quiet anyone could be lurking round these parts..." She sighed.
Rinan smiled softly before offering her his hand, the exceed then scurried up until she was resting on his shoulder.
"So I'm guessing that Lucy sent you?" Rinan asked with a brow raised.
Lavender nodded as she dangled her legs off her place on his shoulder,
"She did, her and Igneel were wondering where you were" she explained.
As they continued to walk Rinan was careful to avoid the remains of broken down buildings and cracks in the sidewalk. The town had changed somewhat, no longer holding the familiar upbeatness it had once possessed, or the unforgettable smiles of the town's people, and lastly the Fairy Tail guild.
The building was run down, the main hall no longer being used for guild members to meet up and relax and was now an empty husk.

*Present Day X792*
"Rinan...Rinnie...Rin?" Rissy called out her own face invading his personal space. He double blinked before widening his eyes, staggering back slightly at the intensity that she was staring at him with.
Glancing around he found himself no longer in the run down version of the guild he knew, but the one that his mother had often described to him. Erza was talking with Lucy and the current guild master while Natsu and Gray seemed to be having some sort of brawl.
He shook his head slightly before turning to face the salmon haired woman, her charcoal gaze was still assessing him.
"Sorry was thinking..."He muttered.
Rissy hummed in her throat before turning to Lavender, the two of them sharing the same look of confusion.
"You don't look like that when you think, Rissy-Chan" Lavender pointed out.
Rissy nodded in agreement, her brows slightly furrowed.
"Oh Lavender...I can't look like Rinan when I think. That's impossible" she remarked with a shrug.
Rinan was about to open his mouth to point out that wasn't what the exceed meant, however Lavender simply shook her head in disbelief.
"Don't bother Rinan...Rissy-Chan is a lost cause" She said with a sigh.
Rinan smiled softly, it seemed that some things did change in his timeline.
"Rissy-Chan, did you hear that Beth Vanderwood and Risley Law signed up for some magic registration" Levy asked. At this Rinan stiffened slightly before turning to the petite bluenette.
"Magic registration...isn't that what you were talking about Rinan?" Rissy asked with a small pout.
Rinan nodded, it seemed that the events that lead up to his timeline were happening quicker than anticipated and he knew that he needed to act fast to prevent those he cared about succumbing to the same fate.
"Erza was talking to Kagura...you know from Mermaid Heel and apparently a lot of their mages have already signed up" Levy explained.
"Rinan the registrations already started...what does this mean our future?" She asked, and it was at that moment that Rinan realised how innocent the salmon haired woman was however he knew if they didn't do anything to prevent the future Rissy wouldn't even have one.
The guild doors were suddenly swung open, revealing a pink haired girl followed by a white exceed. Both of the new arrivals seemed disturbed as they glanced around the guild and Rinan watched in curiosity as the pink haired girl walked straight up to the master.
The master smiled before turning to face her, even with him sitting on top of the bar he was still a head shorter than the teen girl.
"Chelia, finished training already with Wendy?" The master asked.
Chelia shook her head, tears welled up in her eyes causing her to set rubbing at them.
"That's the problem Makarov-San, she left with Mest and hasn't returned and won't even answer her lacrima" The teen sobbed.
"I'm sure she's fine, she is with Mest after all" Makarov reasoned.
Rinan watched with curiosity, even though the events of the current year lead up to his own timeline, he didn't recall anyone telling him of Wendy and Mest's disappearance however he couldn't help but feel that it held some sort of significance.
Chelia nodded as her tears had finally stopped falling and she had calmed down some. Carla had her hand pressed on the back of the taller girls thigh in comfort.
"Okay...I guess so and maybe I shouldn't doubt my friend" she muttered before confirming with a nod.
Erza smiled before placing a hand on the younger girls shoulder.
"We'll let you know if here anything...you should head back since I'm sure that sherry's worried about you" Erza stated which caused the younger girl to smile.
She offered the mages a small bow before heading out of the guild, though Rinan couldn't help but shake the feeling that something was definitely wrong.
It was natural for the guild members to worry about one of their own, especially if they were a petite twelve year old mage. Rissy sat with Levy, Juvia and lavender, the three watching quietly as the guild members started throwing out theories of where Wendy and Mest currently were.
"Juvia thinks it's love..." She sighed dreamily, with visible love heart's in her eyes.
Rissy made a mock gagging motion which caused Levy to snigger somewhat.
"I don't know, Wendy's a bit young for love" Levy pointed out whilst trying to stifle her laughter.
"You're never too old to find love" Juvia countered with a sigh.
It was then that Erza sat down to join the three women (and exceed) Rissy moving over to accommodate the redhead.
"How was the talk with Master?" She asked with a smile.
Erza sighed before placing her elbows on the table to lean onto her hands. And Rissy sighed assuming that the talk didn't go as well as she intended.
"He's already sent out a warning to the council and the other guild masters to keep an eye out for the attacker...but no one's seen a thing" she told her.
"What will happen with the bill...The last I heard was that the new chairman hadn't yet issued anything yet but mages are already registering " Levy pointed out.
Erza nodded in agreement.
"It seems that we'll need to double our efforts to prevent Rinansn version of the future" Erza sighed.
The women all nodded in agreement.
"Juvia doesn't want a future with Gray-Sama in danger" she stated with a small pout.
Rissy smiled softly before placing an hand on the water mage on comfort, however she couldn't help but feel that Rinan was hiding something about her own fate.
It was then that a small buzzing noise broke the short silence it caused Rissy to jump back slightly.
'Zzzzz'
The mages all glanced around in confusion, wondering where the noise was residing from.
'Zzzzzz'
"Erza, your pockets vibrating..." Lavender pointed out as she gestured to the redheads jacket pocket.
She started on pulling out the teal communications lacrima which was now glowing with a golden hue. Erza answered the call with Rissy, not knowing the meaning of privacy peering over her shoulder.
She smiled at the sight of the cat like girl otherwise known as Millianna.
"Erzy wurzy...oh and Rissy too!" The cat like girl declared once Erza answered the call.
Rissy frowned slightly at the screen; noticing that the mermaid heel mage was definitely in a tree.
"Why are you up in a tree?" Rissy asked, though she jumped back slightly at the glare Erza was giving her.
"Well I was going after a kitty..." the mage started. Rissy smiled, she had enjoyed talking to the cat like mage even with her borderline obsession with all things feline.
"And you got stuck?" Erza asked in slight amusement.
"Yes and now I'm stuck..." She answered with a sigh.
"But Erzy the real reason I called was because I saw your friends Wendy and Mest earlier..."
Rissy excitedly perked up, peering closer at the lacrima to get a better look.
"Where'd you see them Millianna?" The redhead asked.
There was a short pause before Millianna spoke again.
"Not too long ago now...but it was before all this fog got in the way..." She answered with a sigh.
"Fog?" Erza and Rissy asked in unison.
Millianna nodded before turning her own lacrima so the Fairy Tail mages could see the thick mass of fog that had covered the continents capital.
"It's over the entire town..." Lavender gasped as she glanced at the screen, the sight of the exceed causing Milliana to squeal with delight.
"Kitty, Erzy there's another kitty...you have to come to Crocus" Milliana said with excitement.
Erza shook her head with a small frown.
"Something dangerous is about to happen and I don't want you there when it happens" Erza firmly stated.
Millianna visibly deflated at Erza's tone however due to her respect for the redhead, sadly nodded.
"Alright Erzy...but i'll meet the kitty another time" she declared before signing off the lacrima.
The first thought that entered the young mages mind was that she was dreaming. But that then lead her to wonder why she had dreamt herself to be in a prison cell with her friend Mest for company.
She reached up to rub the tiredness from her eyes, however to her surprise her wrists were shackled with what she knew to be magic restricting cuffs. Her thoughts focused on the previous events of chairman Hoshino threatening herself and Mest, her memory fading once the cloaked man appeared.
Shuffling sounds to her left alerted her that Mest was now awake, and she mentally cursed the cuffs for they rendered her unable to heal him.
He slowly sat up, using the back wall of their prison cell as a support before turning to face her with a small smile.
"I'm sorry I pulled you into this mess, Wendy" he apologized.
She shook her head with a smile before reaching to place one of her cuffed hands over his own in comfort.
"It's not your fault Mest-San, you could never have predicted this" she reasoned.
Not satisfied with his silence she gently squeezed his hand, the action was bold and seemed to surprise him.
"We'll be okay" she told him, it seemed that both Natsu's and Rissy's optimism was rubbing off on her however she wasn't complaining as it caused Mest to smile - even if it was a slight twitch of the corners of his mouth.
The sound of footsteps echoed through the prison cell, the chairman's form seemed to fill the entire room. At the sight of him Wendy involuntarily shivered, while Mest shuffled closer to her in a protective stance.
The chairman seemed to notice this and grinned slightly, and a dark glint to appear in his eyes.
"You seem quite fond of Miss Marvel...is there something you aren't telling me Gryder?" Hoshino asked which caused Mest to stiffen slightly.
"People are going to notice we're missing, Mest is part of the council and I am a Fairy tail mage" Wendy pointed out with a confidence she didn't know she possessed.
Hoshino raised a brow at the statement though it only caused the young sky mages nerves to worsen.
"Well the council has been formed of Gryder's extended leave" he stated before taking a step closer to the cell bars, his gaze directly on her and at that moment she felt like a deer in the headlights.
"And as for you sky sorceress, I hope your friends come for you since my accomplice has a special surprise for them" he hissed which once again caused the young mage to shiver.
"Leave Wendy and Fairy Tail out of this" Mest snapped which caused the chairman to smile.
It was then that the fog started to appear in the cell, and the familiar cloaked man appeared his hood shadowing his eyes but highlighting his smirk at the sight of them in a cell.
"The Fairies will try and stop the bill being passed" The cloaked man hissed.
The chairman rose a brow at this before turning back to face the cloaked mage.
"Then it's best to dispose of these two now" he said with a sigh.
The smoke mage shook his head before turning into a puff of smoke and then reappearing on the other side of the chairman. The chairman jumped ever so slightly but was quick to recompose himself.
"No we use them as bait and then crush them when they come" he stated.
Wendy didn't like the way the chairman was raking his eyes over her. And by the way Mest was glaring at him she supposed he didn't appreciate it either.
"You're certain they'll come?" The chairman asked.
The smoke mage nodded before turning to face herself and Mest and it was then that Wendy got a peek at his eyes. An entrancing green that seemed to be staring into her very soul, assessing each and every one of her fears and it frightened her.
"I have a...vast experience hunting Fairies I know their strengths and their weaknesses..." He stated with confidence his gaze still focused on her.
The chairman seemed slightly disturbed yet impressed at the smoke mages statement and nodded in understanding.
"Fine I'll leave you to do what you need to do" he told him and with that the smoke mage turned into a puff of smoke and disappeared, Wendy wishing that her friends would be safe.
Rissy held up her communications lacrima to the scenery of Crocus, having not visited the continents capital everything was new to the youngest Dragneel. She had already snapped numerous photos to place onto her photo lacrima and she knew for a fact that she looked like the typical tourist.
The group had departed for a bit as Natsu, Lucy and Happy scouted the town for a scent for Wendy or Mest. With Erza asking passersby if they've seen anything strange, which naturally left Rissy with Gray, Rinan and Lavender on their own search. However Rissy was using this time to talk to Rogue via a communication lacrima.
"Rogue, Rogue...did you see how clean that build was?!" Rissy exclaimed as she placed the lacrima directly onto the buildings walls.
"Because people clean them..." Gray pointed out in a bored tone. Rissy simply stuck her tongue out at the ice mage, causing him to roll his eyes.
She could hear Rogues quiet laughter at her excitement and she turned the lacrima around to see him smiling at her.
"Yes Clarissa it's very nice" he said with a small smile.
She nodded however a small pout appeared. It was great being able to chat via the communications lacrima however she missed his presence around her.
"Miss you" she said with a small sigh as she pressed her forehead against the lacrima.
"Miss you too, Riss" he answered with a smile.
She grinned before placing a kiss to the lacrima screen, with Rogue doing the same.
"I also miss the real thing..." She said with a mischievous grin.
Rogue smiled at that before shaking his head.
"Don't worry, we'll see each other soon" he said
"Did you know that it takes men quicker to fall in love than it does women" Rissy pointed out.
Rogue raised a brow at this however Rissy simply grinned.
"What are you saying?" He asked.
Rissy's grin widened before she pressed another kiss to the lacrima.
"You love me and I love you" she stated as it were obvious.
Once again she had rendered the shadow dragon slayer a speechless however the silence was broken.
"Rissy you need to go someplace private to profess your love?" Gray asked with a grin.
She frowned at the ice mage before turning back to the lacrima screen.
"See you later" she said before signing off and then turning to glare at Gray.
He held up his hands in mock defense which only worsened Rissy's scowl.
"It was a joke" he offered.
She folded her arms with a pout.
"Well it wasn't funny...besides you're naked and scaring away the tourists" She pointed out causing him to start frantically searching for his clothes.
"I'm sure that public nudity is an offense" Lavender pointed out to which Rissy nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, but they don't seem bothered" Rissy countered as she gestured to the group of women ogling a now semi nude Gray.
"Juvia wouldn't like that" Lavender muttered.
Rissy sighed before shooing away the women as of they were wild animals.
"Don't make me get the hose!" She threatened which immediately caused the women to scram.
"You don't have a hose" Lavender remarked with folded paws.
She frowned before turning to Rinan.
"Do I get a hose in the future?" She asked in excitement.
Rinan looked a little surprised at the question before he nodded his head.
"Yes Rissy you get a hose in the future"
Rissy excitedly fist pumped before turning to Lavender with a grin.
"Now that's what you call a development" she declared.
"Did miss something?" Gray asked as he rejoined the group after finally relocating his lost clothing.
Rinan shrugged before turning to Rissy, the salmon haired mage still celebrating over finding out her ownership of gardening equipment.
"Rissy gets a hose in the future" he told him.
Gray just stared at the dark haired mage in confusion.
"And that's why she's so happy?" He asked with a raised brow.
Rinan nodded before glancing back to Rissy.
"She's really amazed by the simple things isn't she" he stated with a small smile.
"Is it difficult, seeing her here like this?" Gray asked sadly.
Rinan nodded before turning back to face the salmon haired woman who would come to mean so much him in the future. In this time she was so carefree, and it motivated the teenager even more to complete his mission.
"Yes..." He answered.
Rissy and Lavender came back towards them, forcing Rinan and Gray to quickly change the topic of conversation.
"So Gray did ya here...I get a hose!" She declared happily.
Gray shook his head with a small smile, though he wouldn't admit it he hoped that they were successful in changing the future, for he was certain that a future without Rissy was sure to be a quiet one.
"Yes I heard" he answered with a smile he couldn't hold back any longer.
"So now I can fend off any girls that try to bask in your nakedness and protect Juvia's feelings!" She exclaimed with a grin.
"Rissy you can't just spray people with a hose" Gray pointed out as they continued walking.
"Um sure I can...I mean there's no law stopping me" she stated with a nod.
"She is right on that one" Rinan commented with a shrug.
It was then that Rissy suddenly stopped in her movements, the action causing Gray to bump into her.
"Rissy what's wrong-" he asked, his voice trailing off at the sight of her pale appearance and wide eyes.
Rinan froze too - the pungent smell of burning flesh was back which only mean one thing...
"The smokers here" Rissy grimly stated, and all the earlier happiness was forgotten.
.
.
.
They all stood in fighting stance as the fog started to roll in, though Rinan was quick to place up his shadow dome and protect them from the fogs effects.
"Why does he keep coming after us?" Lavender asked as she hid behind Rissy's legs.
"Not us just me...He followed me to this time and it's my fault he keeps attacking" Rinan stated grimly
"You can't blame yourself for this" Gray reasoned.
Rissy nodded in agreement before placing a hand on Rinan's shoulder.
"There's no point feeling guilty for you came here to do good...anyway its not your fault" she stated with a grin.
Rinan smiled somewhat before turning back to the dome, his magic wouldn't be able to last forever and they couldn't stay hidden for too long for the smoker would just be waiting to attack.
"Looks as if we're stuck here for a while" Rissy sighed as she paced round the dome.
Lavender nodded in agreement before peering through, she could visibly see the smoker standing as if observing them.
"He's just standing there, Rissy-Chan what do we do?" Lavender asked.
"Sorry Lavy but it looks as if we're trapped like carrots" Rissy sighed.
Gray raised a brow at the statement before turning to the dragon slayer.
"Don't you mean like rats?" He asked with a hint of amusement.
Rissy shook her head in disbelief.
"Of course not; rats will always find a way out whereas carrots can't - since they don't have legs" Rissy reasoned.
Gray shook his head before trying to explain to the salmon haired woman, however both were unaware as Rinan slipped away from the dome. He knew deep down that it was a stupid decision but he also had a need to see his mother live.
So he walked out with his head held high, ready to take on the smoker - even if it meant his inevitable demise.
He took the first punch with strength and delivered the second with devotion. He ignored the screams and shouts from Rissy and the others - he wanted to protect them, he needed to protect them, for he knew that his mother would do the same.

Magnolia Year X805
It had been said by many of the guild members that his mother's smile was contagious, whenever she sported that familiar toothy grin he couldn't help but return it.
At this moment his mother was holding numerous bags filled to the brim with souvenirs from their latest job, with her hands tangled in the bag handles and the added weight causing her to stumble slightly.
"I can't believe that I bought so much" she muttered as she readjusted her hold on one of the bags.
He took another handful of bags from her, causing her to give him a nod of appreciation.
"Ma, most of it is fudge" He pointed out with a small smile.
His mother grinned at that, everyone who knew her was well aware of her love of fudge which was similar to Erza's love of sweet treats.
"I know but most of them are rare flavours" she countered with visible stars in her eyes.
He laughed at her expression however she stopped dead still, a serious look on her face which usually meant one thing...
Without a word and with little effort, his mother has pushed him to ground. He was aware of the blast of magic that went over his head and straight for her. She wasn't fast enough to save hum and evade blast and as a result was knocked to the ground.
Their attackers made themselves known, they were no one he knew leaving Rinan to assume that they were just a rogue mages looking for a fight.
"Not much a fight the Fairy dragon put up..." the first mage spat as he advanced towards his mother as she staggered upright.
He quickly stood up then, ready to defend his mother. He would describe himself as many things, though he wasn't a fool, he was thirteen years old and his attackers were grown men and that left him at a disadvantage.
"Shadow dragons roar!" He shouted his shadow attack hitting his opponent square in the chest and causing him to stagger backwards.
"The brats got fight in him" he muttered before raising his fist and striking him, the force sending him to the ground.
The second attacker laughed at this,
"She's not even worth the title and her brat looks even worse...yet people will still pay top jewel for the Fairy dragon and her brat" he sneered before delivering a sharp kick to his stomach.
His mother got up like a woman possessed, grabbing his attacker by the shin before he could strike again. She was surrounded by a dark aura, her charcoal eyes sporting a look of pure darkness that he had never seen before.
"Stay the fuck away from my son" she warned, her voice a feral growl and her grip tightening on the attacker's shin.
The second attacker stood behind her, ready to fight and even though his mother was both weakened and outnumbered he knew that she would fight for him. He knew that she would fight to the death.

Magnolia present day X792
He had fought long though he knew that it wasn't enough, the smoker struck him down and a part of him knew that it was the end, a part of him was grateful for trying and a part of him yearned to be reunited with her.
"Stay the fuck away from my son"
He could hear an echo of her voice, as if the woman he knew was next to him, but he knew it wasn't true...
"Stay the fuck away from my son" her voice growled out once more and he was certain that it wasn't only hearing it in his mind.
He glanced up from his space on the ground and he clearly saw her; wild salmon hair billowing in the wind, a dark aura surrounding her and eyes darker than darkness itself.
She had knocked the smoker down, and he was somewhat confused as to where she got this new-found strength, a new-found motivation and purpose to protect.
Her focus was on the smoker, her eyes narrowed, lips pulled back and fangs bared in a feral like warning.
"I'm telling you one last time..." She growled before glancing towards him, he was certain he saw something in her eyes...was it recognition...
"Stay the fuck away from my son"
So what did you think of that?
All will be explained in the nest chapter how Rissy finally figures out how she's Rinan's mother and all, I intended to drag the whole not knowing thing out longer but then this happened.
Stay tuned for next chapter where Natsu's group get reunited with Wendy, whilst Rissy's fights the smoker.
