So. This is the wedding (I know spoiler alert!). I am only 16 and have never been to a wedding so I've got no idea how they work, sorry!
To say Tony was nervous would be an understatement, he felt as if the butterflies in his stomach had made friends with the seven dwarfs and were trying to dig their way out. Ziva had stayed the night at Abby's, they both decided they only wanted to see each other the moment Ziva walked down the aisle, for him to lay eyes on his wife. He kept thinking back to Wendy, the woman he was set to marry, but she had left him at the alter. McGee picked him up and driven him to the wedding reception, both of them dressed in their best suits. They met up with Gibbs and Ducky, even Palmer arrived on time, not getting lost on the way there. They went inside, the old church was smaller than he had wanted, but allowed for a more intimate service, Ziva reasoning that it wouldn't be a huge family gathering anyway. The light was pouring through the stained glass windows, filtering into beautiful colours that shone throughout the church. They all filed towards the altar, where the priest was waiting, the audience brimming with close friends, and a small section of family, only filled with Anthony Senior and Ziva's aunt Nettie, who they had managed to sneak out of Tel Aviv without Eli's knowledge.
Tony walked over to his Dad, "Hey pop, you made it."
"Of course I did! You think I'd miss your wedding?" Anthony Senior joked, even though he had in fact been too busy to come to Tony's wedding with Wendy.
Tony ignored the comment, his eyes narrowing with confusion at what his Dad was holding, it looked like a wrapped up bit of cardboard. "Uh what's that?" He asked, pointing to it.
Anthony broke out into a genuine smile, "She couldn't be here, but I wanted to bring her anyway," He unwrapped the cloth from what was now a framed photo, of Tony's mother. She was sitting in a park, long hair flowing loosely in the breeze, turned towards the camera, laughing, eyes twinkling.
Tony felt his eyes fill with tears, he struggled to blink them away, he reached out, tenderly shaking his Dad's hand, making amends for all the years of unsaid words, angry glares and broken promises, "Thanks Dad."
He was tapped on the shoulder by Ducky, who shook his hand also, "Congratulations Anthony, sorry to interrupt but you are wanted at the altar." Tony smiled back at his Dad, who went back to his seat, placing the photo on the empty chair next to him.
Tony went up to where the best men were; McGee, Palmer and two of his old buddies from collage, the bride's maids; Abby, the wives of Tony's college friends whom she had become close to and a childhood friend of Ziva's who made the trip from Israel for the event, stood opposite, all clad in matching pale green dresses, except for Abby, who managed to get the same dress, only black, she winked at Tony mischievously. The priest cleared his throat to announce the service was starting, everyone took their seats, and the pianist began to play. Tony promised himself he would face the front as Ziva walked down the aisle, to wait until she made it to the front before he looked. But as soon as the door opened he swivelled around. There she was. His wife, the love of his life. Ziva. She had her hair loose, but some bits were pulled from her face, she had her arm around Gibbs as she walked slowly down the aisle, brown eyes twinkling with such joy her smile alone could never convey. He couldn't bring his eyes from her's, to him it seemed Ziva was drifting gracefully down the aisle towards him, she arrived at the altar, Gibbs kissed her forehead then moved to join the other best men. Tony was still staring, unable to tear his eyes away.
The priest said something, Tony glanced back, realising it was a question, "Sorry?" He asked.
There was gentle laughter as the priest repeated himself, "Have you prepared your vows?"
He pulled out a piece of paper, to Ziva it looked like a bit of scrap paper, he unfolded it and began, "There are many things I could promise you today." He glanced at Ziva, seeing only pure happiness in her eyes, "I could say I want to be with you for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, till death do we part. But I won't. I can't. That vow are for idealistic couples who believe that their love is a romantic one. I do not stand here on my wedding day thinking of romance. I stand here certain of our love and that love is strong enough to last forever. A love that will carry us through when things become difficult, when we are too tired, when we haven't had the time to talk because of work, when we get tired of routine, when romance is gone, when the difficult side of life overtake the better one. When all those things happen and more, our love will keep us together. I am sure of that because you are my partner, my lover, my very best friend. You are what love is for me. I promise to give you my heart, all of it and my soul. I give you me." His eyes welled up with tears again, Ziva's did the same, she reached out, their hands meeting. Tony heard a sob, Abby's mascara was running and she looked as if she was one off melting at the touching small speech Tony gave. "And I couldn't live without you."
The priest was smiling broadly, "And you Ziva, have you prepared your vows?"
She nodded, "Six years ago when I first saw you, I felt something strange. I felt butterflies in my stomach. I felt like there were five thousand elephants running over my heart. You still make me feel that way. You still make me feel nervous. You still make me feel excited. You still make my heart race. You still make me feel so in love. Only this time it's better because you're not just a crush. You're my best friend… my husband… my better half." Ziva paused, her voice cracking with the emotions welling up inside of her. "I have always been the lucky one in this relationship. You have been my strength. You have made me a better woman, a better person. You have always had enough love for the both us. Enough love to get us through all the crazy things we have been through. You have made and continue to make me happy. The kind that lasts. The kind that makes me want to wake up every morning and live my life. Tony, you make me feel enough. And I will try to do the same to you. I will love you unconditionally. I may not always get it right but I promise you that I will spend everyday for the rest of my life trying."
There was another collective sigh from the audience, "You may now exchange rings," The priest instructed, Gibbs and Abby walked over and handed the pair their rings. Tony gently slid the gold band on Ziva's finger, it fitting nicely against the diamond ring next to it. Ziva did the same, thankful to feel Tony's hands were sweating as much as her's were, he must have also been nervous.
"Do you Zivaleh David take this man, Anthony DiNozzo to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love and cherish, through sickness and in health, till the day you die?"
"I do," She managed to squeak out, feeling Tony squeeze her hand.
"And do you Anthony DiNozzo take Zivaleh David to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and cherish, through sickness and in health, till the day you die?"
"You betcha," He replied, "I mean I do," Tony added more seriously.
"Then I pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride."
They turned to face each other, their eyes forging a path to happiness together. Tony was suddenly nervous, they'd kissed before, but it was as if he was a fourteen year old boy, with his crush, waiting to kiss but not sure how it was done. Eventually it was too much for Ziva, she reached up and pulled his collar down, their lips touching. As they shared their first kiss as a married couple felt his chest blooming with love, a weight lifting from his shoulders the pain in his heart leaving.
Eventually they drew away, Ziva asked in a hushed voice, "Were your vows written on scrap paper?"
Tony laughed, "No on the back of the form I had to sign before leaving to Somalia, to say it wasn't NCIS's fault if I didn't return."
He knew then for sure that he couldn't live without her.
