Chapter: Birthday

"Happy Birthday!"

The boys laughed, receiving the hugs from their female companions happily. They looked around Eveline's apartment at the decorations. Streamers of reds, blues, purples and oranges hung everywhere. Hanging in the center was a large white banner with green lettering saying 'Happy Birthday Turtles', obviously hand painted. The girls each wore green dresses, party hats and bracelets with the turtle colors. Eveline grinned and gestured to the living room, where Master Splinter sat in the plush recliner, a party hat on top of his head.

"So what do you think? Too much?"

Mikey's blue eyes watered in a commercial way as he stared in amazement.

"It's beautiful."

April rolled her eyes but smiled.

"Eve and I worked all day to do this. You better like it."

"You guys did an awesome job." Leo complimented.

"Shell ya they did."

Donnie sniffed the air curiously after Raph spoke.

"What smells so good?"

"Ah. That would be the home-made pizza and cake cooking."

"CAKE?!" The turtles exclaimed.

Splinter chuckled softly.

"Boys. April and Eveline have worked hard to prepare this party. You should thank them."

!

The boys quickly straightened and punched their fists into their palms and bowed at the waist.

"Arigato."

The girls giggled.

"No prob!"

"Make yourself comfy. There are soda's in the fridge and chips and dip on the table. April would you start the music please? I'm gonna check the pizza."

"Sure thing Evie."

The boys made themselves comfortable while April started the party mix she made the night before. Leo followed Eveline into the kitchen, needing to speak with her. His blue eyes followed her figure over to the oven where she was looking through the glass to make sure the pizza didn't burn. He leaned against the doorhinge and crossed his arms.

"Eveline?"

She blinked and glanced up from her bent over position. She straightened quickly.

"Oh hey Leo. What's up?"

He let his eyes glance down to take in her dress. It was strapless with a black belt under her breasts and poofed out. She reminded him of a forest fairy. He shook his head and cleared his throat.

"Um. I wanted to properly thank you. Especially for the cake you're baking."

She tilted her head to the side in confusion. He scratched behind his head, blushing slightly.

"Well…we never had a real cake before. This will be the first one we've ever had. It means a lot that you'd take the time to actually bake one for us."

She smiled and crossed her arms under her chest.

"It's not a problem Leo. I wanted to do something special for you guys. But wow. You've really never had cake before? You're going to love mine then. I made chocolate banana."

Leo grinned.

"That sounds delicious."

The oven dinged, startling them.

"Oh! That's the pizza."

She put on her oven mittens and opened the door, allowing the smell of pepperoni pizza fill the air. Leo inhaled deeply, humming happily.

"Oh man that smells good. Need any help?"

"Depends. Are you going to keep the pizza to yourself?"

The chuckled and began setting up plates. Mikey and Raph yelled from the living room that they could smell the pizza from there and were starving. Splinter shook his head and told them to wait. They carried the plates to the table and set them down, along with cups of soda and tea for Splinter. They all sat down and ate happily, complimenting on how delicious the pizza was.

"Presents!"

Mikey catapulted onto the floor and sat like a dog, practically panting. His brothers, although eager also, sat on the floor calmly but couldn't hide their smiles. April sat on the couch near Splinter, a camera in her hand. Eveline shook her head but laughed. She opened her closet and took out four presents, each matching their masks, then a medium sized burgundy wrapped gift. She gave each turtle his present, telling them not to open it yet. She turned and offered the fifth gift to splinter.

"I know it's not your birthday officially but it's the day you changed. So it's sort of a birthday right?"

Splinter looked surprised before smiling and accepting the gift with a bow.

"Thank you very much."

"Your welcome."

She sat beside April and nodded to the eager turtles on the floor.

"Alright. You can open them now."

They all practically ripped them open, Leo and Donnie being more gentler than the other two.

"NO WAY!"

All the turtles exclaimed in joy/surprise at their gifts. Mikey got the first edition comic books of Superman, Batman and Ironman, Donnie got a full 100 piece science set for his research, Raph got a limited edition IPOD filled with his favorite music and Leo got a katana sharpening kit with a book on haiku. Splinter waited till they were done to open his own gift. Inside the box was a traditional sushi eating set and a box of his favorite jasmine tea. He smiled softly and thanked his daughter-figure. Eveline grinned before giving a yelp when the boys attacked her with hugs, thanking her happily. April laughed and took more pictures, waiting for the excitement to die down before giving her own presents.
