Part 6 Arthur and Lucius

.

.

.

"Shall we Floo to Severus' rooms or would you rather walk?" Arthur asked.

"I'd like to Floo down, that way we can get thing over with quickly and spend the rest of the day together." Lucius answered with a small sweet smile. He felt so different since he'd taken the antidote to the potion he'd been forced into taking. It was like the real 'him' was finally able to shine through. He'd always felt things deeply, weather that bee for good or bad. When he fell in love it was with his whole being. When he was younger he'd been better at showing his regard for the people in his life. But the potion had quashed that in him, for all but his son. He love for his son was so strong that even the small amount he was able to show was abundant.

Now he was free of it, his emotions threatened to overwhelm him with their strength. He had always felt the love of his son with a fiery passion, but now he knew without question or hesitation he would die before allowing Draco to come to any harm. He was also falling more and more in love with his red-haired former rival with every moment they were together and he knew in his magic that he would soon come to think of Arthur's children as his own. The anger he felt when Ron had been so badly hurt was too close to parental fury to think otherwise.

Arthur was smiling at him. "That sounds good to me. After you." He said with an elaborate bow.

"Why, thank you good sir." Lucius countered with his own smaller bow. Causing them both to laugh loudly.

When they were both through the fire Lucius threw some Floo powder into it and called out "Gringotts Bank." In a loud clear voice.

A moment later a goblin head appeared in the flames. "What?" It demanded rudely.

"My name is Lucius Malfoy. I understand your bank wished to speak with me." He intoned in his best 'pay attention to me I'm important' voice.

"One moment, someone will step through."

"Very well." Lucius moved away from the flames.

A small goblin son stepped into the room brushing ash from his clothes. It was a different one to the goblin that had been there before. "Mr Malfoy, Mr Weasley. My name is Barlonger and it is my honor to be able to assist you today." Barlonger said as if he was reading from a script.

"Please sit down." Arthur offered indicated a chair by the fire while the two wizards took the sofa.

The goblin sat. "We have been able to rectify all the accounts and properties. There were some that were originally of the black name with will revert back to the head of the family as they were part of a dowry gift. You still retain your ancestral home and a property in France and another in Spain. Your former wife has been awarded a small vault of her own with 200 thousand galleons in it assuming that she is to be the primary care giver for the child of the marriage Draco."

"Absolutely not." Arthur interrupted just before Lucius could do the same.

"Arthur is right. I will be Draco's primary everything. I doubt he will want to see her again, but that is his choice and I won't force that upon him."

Barlonger nodded. "Then the amount will be reduced to 50 thousand and the remaining 150 thousand will be put into trust for the child."

Lucius gave a sharp nod of agreement. "I want you to set up an account with the same amount for each Ginny, Ron, Fred, George, Percy, Charlie and William Weasley. Then also for Hermione Granger and Harry Potter. They can have access to them when they turn 21 or get married whichever comes first. If they are already either of those things they can have access immediately."

"Very good." Barlonger said making a note.

"You can't do that!" Arthur said horrified.

"I think I just did."

"But, that's so much money, I can't expect you to …"

Lucius interrupted him with a brief kiss. "I know you don't expect anything. I do this of my own free will. I do this because I love you and would love nothing more than to bond with you and make our lives together. If we have any more children I will do the same for them."

"You want to bond with me?" Arthur asked breathlessly.

"Very much so." Lucius confirmed.

"And when that happens whatever is mine will be yours as well, and vice versa, including our children."

"I don't have anything to give to you."

"That isn't entirely true Mr Weasley. But I will come to that in a moment. Mr Malfoy there is only one thing that Mrs Malfoy can contest and has done, that is occupation of your ancestral home. It can be argued that as she has lived there for so long and that taking it away would leave her homeless that she should be allowed to keep the house."

Lucius looked stricken.

"It's just a house love. You can live with me or we can get a new place together." Arthur soothed.

"Mr Weasley is correct. It is just the house. The contents of the house has not been mentioned at all." Barlonger hinted with a smile that showed far too many teeth.

Both men laughed. "So I can strip the house of everything in it and give her the shell?" Lucius asked gleefully.

"As neither yourself nor Mrs Malfoy is allowed entrance to the property until this dispute is at an end, the removal would have to be done by the bank. But yes, that is precisely what I'm suggesting."

"Do it! If you can give me a full inventory too so I know what I have I can start to make plans with what to do with it all." Lucius instructed.

"As you say, so shall it be done." Barlonger said inclining his head. "Now. Mr Weasley. We also found some discrepancy in your accounts. It seems that a sum of money was left by your own grandmother for each child born to you, it was to help with the cost of raising them and schooling them. However, it was on condition that you married for love. Miss Prewett, formerly Weasley hid this from you, presumably to avoid the necessary testing required. Which would have uncovered the fact the love you felt for her was not real. However, we have consulted and come to the conclusion that, even though the love was due to a potion, as far as you were concerned, it was 'the real thing'. Therefor the sum of 350 thousand galleons has been deposited into your personal account. Your grandmother also left you some property in her will. It was called worthless by many, including Miss Prewett formerly Weasley, when she came to claim it on your behalf. She informed the bank that it was not wanted and to get rid of it. However without your direct say so, we could not dispose of the land. There are several hundred acers of land from Hogsmead along the opposite side of the lake."

"How far along?" Arthur asked in shock.

"Until the Hogwarts grounds starts."

"My God. What will I do with all that land?"

"There have been rumors, unconfirmed rumors, that the mayor of Hogsmead is going to start expanding and growing the town to allow all magical being to live there. A truly unified town. That land is about to become quite valuable. Your former wife has no claim on any of your belongings, money or most of your children. The only child she still has a claim on would be Ronald Weasley, all your other children have renounced her."

"Ron will too when he's fully recovered I'm sure of that."

"What do you mean recovered?" Barlonger asked sharply. Goblin children were rare and always thought of as a blessing, to intentionally cause harm to a child was the worst of crimes in the eyes of any Goblin.

"Ron was under the influence of a potion too, we think it was the same as the one we were under along with memory charms and compulsion charms. He left the school with her and was eventually rescued and brought back. But it was too late, he'd been…" Arthur chocked, seeing it and saying it were different things. Saying it made it even more real.

"She and Narcissa tortured him, nearly to death." Lucius finished for him.

"Then I will ensure that she can't touch him again." There was a feral gleam of anger in Barlonger's eyes this time. "There is one other suggestion I have for you Mr Malfoy. We can write a contract that Malfoy Manor will revert back to Draco Malfoy on her death and for that reason she would never be able to sell the house. The house elves, unless they personally belong to her would also remain yours and would not have to stay in the property."

"Very well, I don't know if he'll want to live there, but at least he will have the choice."

"It shall be done. And you Mr Weasley, shall I look into possibilities for your land?"

"Yes please. I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to start."

"I will contact you with possibilities shortly. If there is nothing else sir's I will take my leave."

"Thank you for your help." Arthur said holding out his hand.

Barlonger took the hand after first looking at it distrustfully. "May your vaults always flow with gold." The Goblin said, almost respectfully.

"With all this land and explanation you've been hearing about, I'm surprised Gringotts doesn't open another branch. A small one to help the new towns people perhaps." Lucius suggested.

Barlonger paused in his walk to the fireplace. "I will pass on your suggestion."

They watched the flames flash green as Barlonger left.

"Would you like to go for a walk in the grounds before lunch?" Arthur asked.

"We could, or I can show you around the Slytherin common room. Not many outside the house ever get to see it."

Arthur smiled. "I'd like that. Have you ever been into Gryffindor territory?" He asked already heading for the door.

"No, but perhaps we can go there another time. I'd like to see your old stomping grounds."

"Come on then, we might even bump into the kids."
