It's been almost a year since I almost lost Tobias... Today the two of us go to the hub and pick up the newest initiates. Hopefully this year won't be interrupted with anything like last year. I look at myself in the mirror as I get ready for the day. Evan and Tobias both chickened out of giving the speech at the Choosing ceremony today so that leaves me since it is Dauntless's year. I smile and finish applying the minimal make-up. I take one more glance at my outfit, tight black jeans, a red tank top and a leather jacket. I decide to leave my hair down.
I walk out into the main room of the apartment and sneak up on Tobias. "BOO!"
"Really Tris?" Tobias turns to me and rolls his eyes before pulling me against him. I giggle and wrap my arms around him before kissing his cheek. He smiled, "Ready for today?"
"I guess since you and Evan are to chicken to do it."
"Oh really?"
"Really."
Tobias lets go of me and steps away from me his face becoming serious. I blink at him, "Tobias? Hey I was kidding!"
I open to continue to beg for him to hold me again but I am stopped by an urgent knock at the door. Tobias moves and goes to open the door, Caleb walks in.
"Tris! I just heard from Erudite! They can bring our parents back."
I sit up quickly in my bed and gasp. I blink and run my hand through my hair, It was just a dream... Why can't I accept that they are gone, Erudite can't bring them back.
I get out of bed and look at the clock. 10 am. Tobias is spending the day with Zeke today, which means I'm on my own. I go to the bathroom and pull my hair up into a pony tail. I do my other morning bathroom duties before going and putting on some clothes. I sigh and headed out to the train.
I sit near the door to the train until we approach Erudite which is when I stand and jump off. I get my footing before walking into the tall building. I sigh as I walk up to the front desk. "I need to talk to a leader..."
"Please wait a moment." I nod and sit in a chair. It feels like hours pass before someone comes to get me. I am lead upstairs to where the leader's offices are. I look at my feet as I walk through the door. It's not until I hear my name that I look up.
"Beatrice?" A man's voice calls out.
My head snaps up, "Dad...?!"
