~Chapter 34~
Tobias
I watched Tris carefully one morning at breakfast. She had been acting a little different lately, and I was starting to get a little nervous. She was staring off into space like she had been doing frequently these past few days. It was clear something was on her mind. "Hey, whatch'a thinking about, Beautiful?" She snapped out of her daze and smiled at me. "You, what else?" With that, I pulled her in for a deep kiss."Funny, I was just thinking about you," I said. "Ugh, you guys make me sick," Christina groaned. "It's a miracle you're not pregnant again, yet." I rolled my eyes but had to admit it was kinda true..."Chris, give them a break. I think it's cute," Will piped up. "That could be us, you know." "EWWWWWWWWW! No, you pervert!" Christina screamed, making us all laugh. "A man can dream," Will finally got out, through the laughter. "I don't have to," I quickly whispered into Tris' ear. She smiled my favorite smile, the one that made me first notice her, as she moved closer to me, "Well, I think I am. Pinch me, I swear I'm dreaming," she replied and before she could say anything else, I brought her lips to mine. "Figured you'd like that better. Believe it, babe. You're stuck with me," I smiled as I wrapped my arm around her and the babies.
After everyone quieted down, I took the opportunity to bring up something that had been on my mind for quite a while. "So I was thinking," I said to no one in particular, "I want to get married." Tris' head turned at that. "Four, we are getting married." That wasn't good enough for me. "No, soon." "Okay then, we'll plan something for next month or so-" I couldn't take it any more. "No, Tris. I want to get married to you, like now. I need to make you mine, officially, once and for all," I blurted out. Tris looked sympathetic. "You know I'd love that just as much as you, but we need a little time to plan," she replied in a gentle tone. That was it. "Screw planning! I just want you to be my wife." Tris rested her head on my shoulder after she handed the babies to Christina. "As sweet as this is, I doubt it could work," Christina interrupted. "Please. Christina. Work your magic. Get us married," I begged her. I would do anything. She soughed. "Next month is doable, anything sooner is next to impossible." "No. We can't wait that long. I need to make it official,"Tris spoke up this time. It made me happy to know that she wanted exactly what I did. She moved closer to me, if that was possible, and I planted a light kiss on her head. "Sorry. I can't do better than a month. I'm pretty awesome, but I am sure as hell not a miracle worker." Christina looked genuinely upset she couldn't help more. Suddenly, though it looked as if she got an idea. Before I could ask what she was thinking, she started . "If I were you, I would just elope. You can plan an elaborate ceremony and party afterwards, but it's pretty clear you both need to do this, like ASAP. You can even keep it a secret between your close friends so it seems like the real deal when you have the grand celebration we've been planning. So go! You can get a cheap dress, throw on a suit, get Max to officiate, head to the ceremony hall, and bam! You're married."
It took me a minute to comprehend what was happening. Christina was actually having a good idea. That was besides the point. The idea she proposed was absolutely bizarre, but absolutely amazing as well. Tris and I could be married by the end of the day! I tried not to get my hopes up as I asked her, "What do you think?" Tris smiled at me. "I think that I cannot stand not being your wife any longer. Let's go get married!" Shock set in, the same shock I experienced when she agreed to marry me in the first place. She was ready to get married. She would be my wife by the end of the night. I had wanted Tris for as long as I could remember, and now? She would be mine. Forever. A high pitched scream from Christina snapped me out of my thoughts . She babbled on for what seemed like hours, and from what I had gathered from her little soliloquy, I was supposed to go with Will to get shit done. I hoped he picked up on what we were supposed to do, since I zoned out after the first word. Oops. I kissed Tris goodbye and took the babies from her. "Goodbye, Tris. Be brave," I whispered. With that, we left.
"Hello? Umm Four?" "Yeah?" "I just asked if you guys had rings picked out yet," Will asked. Clearly he had already tried to get my attention for a while now and had failed. I had completely blanked out. Fear does weird things to people, I'll tell you that. "Oh. Sorry. I'm just pretty nervous." "I got that." He smiled at me, knowingly. "But yeah. We picked out some that we liked a few weeks ago, at Christina's store." "Oh, perfect. Let's go." I hesitated. "Four, you okay?" I tried speak, but suddenly all the words vanished. "What's wrong?" "I...I..." "You what?" He sounded concerned, like he was trying to consider getting help now or later. "I'm just so nervous." He looked like he was doing all he could to keep from laughing. "I'm sorry, of what exactly?" I thought about it. "I don't even know, Will." "You're not afraid she'll get cold feet, right? Because you know that wouldn't happen in a million years." "I sure hope not," I gulped. He sighed in such away I was a little ashamed at my feelings. ""Four, everything in your life is going to change today. I'm sure you know that," he stammered. I nodded. That was the understatement of the year. "It's pretty obvious you two are crazy about each other. Tris can tell you, and I know that she has, but I'm going to tell you, too. She loves you. Okay? The girl's in love with you. She agreed to marry you, after all." I huffed. "But she had to think about it! I don't want her to have to think about whether she wants to do this. I want it to be without any hesitation, when she says I do." "Speaking as an ex-Erudite, it was wise of her to think it through. Her life is changing forever, too. You gotta remember that. There might have been doubt about it at first, but I can assure you, from what I saw today, it has all completely gone away. She wants this so much. She isn't doubting her decision at all, and she has never doubted loving you. She is completely and fully in love with you, and you better not have any doubts about this." I sighed. He had a point. Pretty food advice, for a former Erudite, and all, I have to admit. "Thank you Will. You're right." "Thanks," he said, truly appreciative. "Let's get the rings firstand then do whatever else we have on our "honey-do list" from your wonderful girlfriend," I finally said. He laughed. "How you put up with so much energy, I don't know." He laughed again before saying, "Believe me, it's not always easy." "I'm sure it's not. Now let's go get the rings."

An hour later, I some how ended up at Zeke and Uriah' s place while Will got our suits ready. They were going through this with me. I knocked on the door with sweaty hands that I only prayed I didn't still have later. Uriah answered after the second knock. I had grown to really like him over the course of the time I knew him. After I had gotten to be such good friends with Zeke during initiation, he became kind of like my little brother. I could never imagine getting married without him there. "Hey Four! What's up?" "Not to much, man." More lies. Always good. He gestured me inside. "Zeke! Four' s here!" Zeke came sprinting down the stairs only seconds later. "Four!l he yelled. "I haven't seen you in forever, bro!" "I saw you yesterday." "Same difference." I chuckled. He was quite the best friend. "So what brings you here this fine afternoon?" I sighed. Better get it over with, right? "Well, I kinda wanted to talk." "Sure. Uriah, go jump off a roof or something." Uriah looked a little hurt before I interjected. "No, no! I want him here for this too." Uriah' s smile returned, and it was Zeke's turn to be annoyed. "Fine," he grumbled to his brother. "Have a seat." So we all sprawled out in their (very comfortable) rec room and I began. "So listen. I don't have much time. I just wanted to let you both know that Tris and I have decided to get married." Before I could continue, Uriah interrupted. "Yeah, we knew that!" Zeke huffed. "He wasn't done, you Pansycake. Let him finish. Ugh. And you wonder why people don't like you." I laughed again. I loved coming over here to see them go back and forth at each other. Free entertainment. Screw fighting for fun, you don't need that when you have the Pedrad brothers. "Anyway," I started again, and they both turned from whatever they were doing to face me. "So yeah, Tris and I are getting married. We are getting married today." Zeke did a spit take with his drink and Uri dropped his. "Wha? When did this happen? Four! What the hell man! You could've given us some notice or something!" Zeke said quite surprised, it seemed. Uriah' s jaw was nearly on the ground. "You might want to close your mouth, you'll catch flies." "But...But...But-" he stammered. He continued for a little while, so I took one hand and placed it on his head and the other on his chin to close his still-open mouth. "Better," I stated simply. "To respond to your comment, Zeke, we didn't know until this morning. We're eloping. Just a tiny ceremony in the ceremony hall to make it official, finally. We'll have a bigger party and stuff later, bit we both decided that we wanted to get married once and for all. Like today. So we said, okay, then. Let's get married today. I need you both there. It's set for six. Get your hands on some suits, I dont even care how you do it, but get them and get to Will' s at 6:30, ready to go. Okay? Get it, got it, good? Fine. I need to go get shit done. I better see you both, ready to go at 6:30 sharp. Call me if you have any questions." I looked at the clock. 5:36. I was getting married in less than two hours. "Holy shit. Sorry guys, I really gotta go now. Bye!" With that, I sprinted out of their room, leaving them to pick their own jaws off the floor this time. I wasn't even out of the building when I got a call. Sure enough the caller ID read Zeke. I answered reluctantly, knowing what this could lead to. "Okay, what the hell just happened man?" I sighed. Here we go.

Somehow, I have no idea how, we all ended up ready at Will' s apartment by 6:35. It was truly by the grace of God, I tell you. I even had a little time to spare, which equivilated to more time for panicking. Surprising as it is, Will' s same words seemed to echo through and through my head over and over again and they calmed me. I cannot begin to explain though, the uncountable feelings rushing through my head at any given moment that day. Panic, fear, excitement, and happiness were among the strongest and most frequent. "I can't believe our little boy's getting married! So, so sweet. They grow up so fast, don't they, Zekey?" Uriah said in an old lady like voice if that was possible. I took the opportunity to slap him across the face. "Alright. Let's go," I said with a smile.
The ceremony hall was not very far from Will' s, so we just walked, keeping a close eye on Uri and Zeke to make sure they didn't ruin the suits I made them get. And pay for. But heck, what else are friends for? It only took ten minutes to walk there, so we just got there with fifteen minutes to spare. I met Max who pulled into the very large parking lot just as we got there. He got out and shook my hand firmly. "Four, how are you feeling?" "Like I'm going to be sick," I replied honestly. Max took a step back as he laughed nervously. It was pretty funny, in reality. "So, shall we go in?" He asked from about a foot away. I gulped and nodded. They all followed me to chairs where we would sit behind the stage until we got news Tris was here. I looked up at the clock as I paced back in forth in the rather small, but very comfy room. 6:47. Thirteen minutes. Twelve. Eleven. Ten. Since we hadn't heard from Max, who had gone to wait for Tris, Will convinced all of us to go out where we would be for the ceremony. I took a deep breath and followed Zeke out to my place, front and center. I tried not to check the time every other second , but it was no use. I was a wreck, putting it generously. Never in my life had I ever been so nervous, excited, impatient, yet ready for anything in my life. At what my phone declared 6:59, I heard the back door open to reveal Christina who joined Will. I only got a glimpse of white before they boomed shut again. When Christina took her place, we turned when the doors opened again, to make way for the most beautiful bride the world has ever known. The tears that Immediately welled in my eyes and the sudden absence of my anxiety told me that this was right. We were right. She smiled at me, the kind of smile that you would remember for years and years, as she made her way down the isle to me. Max smiled at me and placed her hand in mine. "I love you," I mouthed as I squeezed her hand, giving her some reassurance I hoped she didn't need me to give her. Thus the ceremony began.
"Four, Tris, you have come here today to be joined in marriage," Max began. "I have waited for this since I first saw you together, to be honest. Now I just want to say I am so happy for you and am honored to be standing here, before an ideal example of love. I wish you all the best in your lives together. I love you both, like you're my own children, and couldn't be happier, but enough about me. This is for you. This is your day." Awww. I smiled at Max who looked like he was going to burst into tears any second. "Now for the fun stuff. Four, do you take Tris to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for better, for worst, in sicknesses and in health, as long as you both shall live?" "Is it inappropriate for me to scream ' Hell yeah?'" I thought... I eventually decided it was, so I just said "I do," with the biggest smile of my life. It was enough for Tris. Tears were flowing uncontrollably, I noticed, for both of us, so I wiped my beautiful bride's tears very carefully so I wouldn't get smacked by Christina, who was in clear smacking-distance if that's a thing. Then I tended to my own little waterfall. "Tris, do you take Four to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, for better, for worst, in sicknesses and in health, as long as you both shall live?" "I do," she said, instantly and full of excitement, passion, and happiness. No hesitation at all. "Now for the rings," Max declared.. Christina gave him the rings, who in turn gave the first one to me. "Four, repeat after me. 'With this ring, I thee wed.'" I took a deep breath. "With this ring," I said while I put the ring on her tiny, shaking finger, "I thee wed." It took everything in me not to pull her close to me and hold her like I so badly wanted and needed now. "Tris, repeat after me. 'With this ring, I thee wed.'" . "With this ring, I thee wed," she said. She was nearly jumping up and down, even in the stilettos I assume Christina made her wear, as she slid the ring onto my hand. Max placed her hand in mine as tears began to fall again. "Four, Tris, " he said with a smile, "With the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." That was it. We were married. Tris was my wife. She was finally mine, forever and ever. Finally my Mrs. Eaton. I could finally kiss and hold her close to me and call her mine, so I did. I kissed her fiercely and fearlessly over and over and hugged her closer than ever and spun her around until I picked her up in true bridal fashion and kissed her some more. We laughed and cried and kissed simultaneously over the sound of our friends' cheers and claps. All of that was interrupted in the worst possible way, with the man who started my misery all those years ago. Marcus.
