Chapter 36

Prince Rey's POV

I've never been so contented my whole life. For the first time I beat Natsume. Well, since we were young, he has always been my rival at everything. We competed in a lot of things such who could dig the most gold in an hour that was when he first visited Welzoria when we were 7, and even stupid things like who can fly a kite the highest, who can run faster, who can jump higher, who could catch the most dragonflies, who got more ice cream scoops, who can catch a crab down the beach, who got the latest technology first and other things then when we got a little bit older we competed on who can get the most girls, who's got more allowance, who's got the best car and mostly sports. Natsume always wins and we never competed this serious before. Most of the time we were just competing for fun but if a bet is at stake then he get all this serious.

I never intended to use dirty tricks but I was desperate, just for the first ever girl who caught my attention.

I watched Natsume walked away when I saw Mikan Yukihara approaching me out of the corner of my eyes.

She's so beautiful, more beautiful than she was on TV. The first time I saw her, it was the time the Yukiharas announced to the whole world that she was their daughter. It's still very clear in my mind, that time when the spotlight came down on her and I saw the most gorgeous girl in the world, the way she walked down the runway and the way she smiles. That was the time when I decided I'm going to meet her and make her mine.

I couldn't help but stare in awe. Her face is blank but I can see the fury in her eyes.

"We need to talk." She told me and by the tone of her voice, I could almost assume that she's mad for what happened to Natsume. I saw how she was worried about him and that makes me a little jealous.

"As you wish." I told her, making my voice as normal as I used too. "But first let me get change."

"No need." She said bluntly. "It's only for a moment anyway."

"Okay." I said as I stood there and my bodyguards are standing in line. I gave them a wave and they started to walk out of the stadium. The other team are still standing by one side of the field where Natsume fell and they seem to be still talking to a group of girls. The whole student body started to move out of the stadium as well in excitement but still some of them are trying to sneak in to the field.

"You did it on purpose, didn't you?" She asked me straight. I looked at her in shock and guilt. She saw through it, everything.

I just turned my back on her. I don't want this confrontation but she came up in front of me quickly.

"Didn't you?" She repeated. I don't know how else to answer.

"I just wanted to win." I said.

"So you're admitting you really did it on purpose." She said but I didn't respond again. "Fine. If you really want to win this thing, you have to be fair. If you do what you did today again, I will..." She paused and she seems to be thinking deeply. "I will.." another paused. "I will NEVER TALK TO YOU AGAIN! Or better don't ever show your face in front of me again." She said that and walked away. I got shocked but then smiled. That's pretty childish and I know she knew about that so she was embarrassed.

But that pout in the end made me adore her more.

Mikan's POV

Gosh that was embarrassing. I threatened him childishly. Well, I couldn't think of anything else to say. That was the only thing I could think of. I don't know if it will work but it's better than nothing. This so called stupid competition between Natsume and the Prince, even I can't stop it anymore, I'll have to make sure it's fair on each matches. They can't hurt each other like that!

I just walked out of him like I normally do whenever I'm in an embarrassing situation. I saw Hotaru from the corner of my eye and the rest of them followed me to the exit.

I slowed down when I heard how Anna and Nonoko were excited about the next round. They seem to be talking about it. I waited for them till they walked up to me.

"When's the next round gonna be?" I asked.

"In two hours." Hotaru replied. I eyed her.

"In two hours?!" I repeated aggressively. "With Natsume injured, how can it be in two hours?"

"Oh come on Mikan, don't overreact like that." Nonoko said.

"Don't worry, Natsume's fine." Ruka seconded.

"I'm sure he can do it Mikan. If you're that concerned, go check on him." Anna said then winked at me. I knew what she's up to. She's just teasing me.

"Who said I was worried about him?" I denied. I saw the boys smirking and my friends giving their most precious sweet smile.

"Urgh. Whatever guys. I'm outta here."

"Make sure he's at the racing tracks by 3pm." Yuu said.

"Have fun with Natsume. Cheer him up a little bit, will ya?" Kitsu yelled as I was quite far from them now.

Oh shut up. Who cares about Natsume? And how would I know where is he now? When someone actually cares about him, he doesn't even show a little appreciation. His pride is too much to handle.

But...yeah in the end, I really care about him. I ended up in the Nurse's office to ask for a first aid kit. And I know where he might be. I was heading into the place where I thought Natsume would be. Somehow this place has been a connection between me and him. It's a special place for Mrs Lakum too since it's the place where her and her first love started an admirable relationship. The Sakura Garden, I hope Natsume's here and not the old lady. And as I guessed, he's lying at the branch of the tree with his arms as his pillow like he usually does. I think whenever he's in a bad mood or he wants to sleep he always comes to this place especially the branch of the cherry blossom tree.

He already changed into his casual clothes. Well, I know he doesn't like wearing any uniform that much.

I cleared my throat to gain his attention. He didn't move to acknowledge my presence. So I thought maybe he really is sleeping. He must be really exhausted from the previous game.

I climbed up the tree and knowing that I'm clumsy at times, I tried really hard to be as careful and as quiet as possible. When I sat safely to the branch next to him, I got the first aid kit out of my pocket but the first thing I noticed is the dried blood in his nostrils. It might have been hard for him to breath. But of course I'm not gonna do anything about that, it would be awkward. Anyways I began sterilizing his wound on his lip gently with an alcohol-free wipe.

Just staring at him while he's asleep makes me remember those arrogant smirks he's always showing but this time he looks peaceful and more likable.

"Arrgh. How can you have that attitude when you can just be like this all the time?!" I said quite loudly and accidently pressed it harder to his lips. I got carried away and he suddenly shot his eyes open and made a hot painful groan.

I got off-balance on the branch and I thought I'm going to fall but he grabbed my waist quickly. This is not a simple grab but I can feel it's more like a tender hug! I'm sure he knew I was here in the first place. There's no point assuming anything now, I'm just glad he caught me before I end up flat on the ground. He just saved my life - again.

I looked at him and he has that usual frown on his face.

"You're as clumsy as ever." He said with an angry tone on his voice. I pouted. It's not like I did it on purpose. "You could have died."

'You don't say.' I wanted to say that to his face but better not, he's already in a bad mood when he lost to Rey. Really I can't take that I attitude of him. He could just pretend to be like worried but what else I got? Instead of feeling grateful, I feel annoyed as always.

I didn't say anything but he just held me and we stared at each other for a few seconds before I found it awkward to be this close to him.

He noticed the position we were in when I slightly pushed him and he cleared his throat. I sat properly on my branch and looked away.

Am I blushing right now? I don't know but my face feels like its burning.

He smirked and jumped off the tree.

I looked down and my main purpose of being here are scattered on the ground.

"You know, making things worse is your specialty." He said calmer than before looking up to me as I was still on the tree branch.

I gave him a 'What-do-you-mean-by-that-look' but he just smirk away that wound on his lip.

"Nice, red polka dots." He said now smiling, showing his perfect white teeth. For the first time I saw him grin that wide.

I didn't understand what he meant but I have a feeling it's very dangerous when I come to realize. I just stared at him with a confuse expression plastered on my face.

"Do you want to show it to me all day? I don't mind ditching that race for this." He winked. What the hell is he talking about? He's starting to get creepy.

Then he pointed at my skirt and that's when I realized it. He can see my panties!

I screamed in horror as I hurried to cover it up. I kicked him but he dodged and I ended up losing my balance again falling from the tree. For the nth time, he caught me! In bridal style!

"Whoa there!" He winced. With my weight, I'm sure it was hard to catch me in that height but damn, he's so strong.

Certainly now, I'm so red from head to toe. He just saw my panties!

I forced him to let go of me as I pushed him as hard as I could and I ran away as far away as possible.

I'm overly embarrassed, seriously, that was way too embarrassing, the most embarrassing of the most embarrassment! I will never show myself to him again. He's a pervert! But still, I was too stupid not to realize that he can see my underwear! Now I can't get married!
