This chapter takes place before Jenny Tyler, Time's Angel Chapter 74.

SCARED QLESS PART 1

One of the Alternaverse Gang's most dangerous missions started out ominously from the start. In the Star Trek universe, the original Starship Enterprise had been sent out by the Federation to investigate a strange dark area that had suddenly appeared in the center of the Alpha Quadrant a few days earlier and had started slowly swallowing up several nearby planets. It hadn't reached any inhabitable areas just yet, but it was only a matter of time so it was up to the Enterprise to stop whatever was behind it now while it still could.

If it could that is. Captain Kirk was soon to find out that that would be easier said than done.

"Captain, I'm picking up an anomalous life reading ahead of unknown origin inside of the affected area of space. I suggest extreme caution," Mr. Spock said at the science station.

"Duly noted, Mr. Spock. Cut to one quarter impulse. Proceed with caution," Captain Kirk ordered the helmsman.

"You'd better proceed with caution, Mon Capitan, or very soon you won't have a ship left," Q said as he suddenly appeared out of nowhere dressed as a Starfleet Admiral.

"Trelane?" Kirk asked with surprise.

Q laughed as he said, "Hardly. I'm way beyond that amateur Q who once befuddled you with his childish antics. I'm much, much more dangerous, Captain, and what's waiting out there makes me look like a choir boy in comparison. I actually have a certain fondness for humanity, and that being out there definitely does not I assure you. He'll gladly annihilate all of you just for one moment of pleasure."

"So you know what it is then?" Kirk asked.

"Oh, yes. Both he and I are both members of the Q Continuum. We're omnipotent beings with the power to do pretty much anything that we want. Usually though, we stay out of humanity's affairs. Well, the others do anyway. I must admit that I have . . . dabbled in your business on occasion. I mostly bother Captain Picard though. He seems to like me. This being however is not a harmless prankster like I am. He's a rogue who's decided to remake your universe and probably several others after it into his own image. The Q have tried to stop him, but so far we've been held back by some unknown power that he's tapped into. We have no idea what it is, but we will soon. We're all working together to stop him in all of the time zones that he's appeared in. I've been assigned to this one. I wanted Picard's time but for some reason the other Q thought that I might make things worse there since Picard sometimes mistrusts my motivations just because I've caused him a little trouble here and there over the years. It was never anything serious mind you. It was just Jean Luc and I having a little fun together. The man has no sense of humor whatsoever or he would have figured that out a long time ago," Q said with a slight grin.

"I must have no sense of humor either, mate, because I don't get what's supposed to be so much fun about tormenting people with your powers either," Rose said as she suddenly appeared on the bridge of the Enterprise in a burst of golden energy.

The bridge crew immediately went on the alert, and several of them pointed their phasers at Rose as Captain Kirk asked, "Who are you and what are you doing on my ship? Are you connected to whatever's going on out there?"

"Relax, Captain. I'm a friend. In fact, you kind of know me already. You've already met my daughter, Jenny, and my husband, the Doctor, before. My name's Rose Tyler, and I've come to help you fix whatever's happening here," Rose said.

"You're married to the Doctor?" Kirk asked with a shocked look on his face.

Rose smiled with a grin that covered her entire face as she asked, "Is that so hard to believe?"

"It's hard for me to believe that anyone could stay married to him without killing him," Kirk said with a grin.

Rose couldn't help bursting out laughing at that remark because it was so true.

Q looked at her with curiosity for a moment because she wasn't the young blonde woman with the Cockney accent that he remembered from before on Picard's ship but a brunette with large brown eyes instead. Rose had been forced to merge with her and the Doctor's companion Clara Oswald recently in order to save her life from River Song when she had been brainwashed into killing her. Unfortunately after her near death at River's hands, she was left too weak to separate from Clara for a while so she was forced to share an existence with her for a time.

"Well, well, well. You've certainly changed since the last time that we met didn't you? Did you regenerate, Time Lord? No, it wasn't that was it? You've been doing a bit of body hopping haven't you, and you dare to look down at me and my methods?" Q snorted in derision.

"Hey, I let her use my body because she would have died if I hadn't," Clara said defensively as she took over for a while.

"And you couldn't let her die could you because you're her loyal human? Or are you something more than human now thanks to her?" Q said with a smile.

"What on Earth are you talking about, Letter Boy?" Clara asked.

"Never mind. So what brings both of you here to bother me while I'm trying to nobly save the great Captain Kirk from a fate worse than death?" Q asked with irritation.

"I came here to find out what your bloke over there is up to and put a stop to it. He's disrupting this universe all throughout time," Rose said as she regained control.

"You mean this being is in other times as well?" Kirk asked in alarm.

"Yes, unfortunately. It seems that he's popping up all throughout your history at once and causing trouble everywhere. That's what drew me here because it's really causing a massive disturbance to this universe," Rose said.

"Isn't that usually a job for that oh so sweet and lovably naive daughter of yours? I think I'd much rather have her here. She's far less annoying," Q said.

As if on cue, Jenny's TARDIS materialized on the bridge of the Enterprise, and Jenny and her Alternaverse Gang immediately exited it. Jenny was taken by complete surprise as she discovered that her mother was already there ahead of her.

"Well, Mr. Spock, I think that our chances of survival just went up. Welcome back, Jenny," Kirk said with a warm smile.

"I would have to agree, Captain. The odds have definitely increased significantly now that she and her crew have made an appearance. I could calculate them for you if you'd like," Spock said as his eyes immediately darted to Andromeda who even Spock noticed looked extremely upset about something.

"No, Spock, that'll be all. That's his way of saying welcome back too," Kirk said with a smile.

"Thank you, both of you. I'll certainly do my best to live up to your expectations. Mum, why are you here?" Jenny asked.

"I decided to lend you a hand after I sensed just how powerful that this new enemy of yours was going to turn out to be. After all two of your group aren't quite up to snuff so soon after that last mission of yours, are they?" Rose said.

"What are you talking about? Everything's fine," Jenny said in confusion.

Rose silently shook her head, and Jenny realized that there was something going on that she needed to find out about. Apparently some of her group were keeping things from her, and she was going to have to find out what later.

"This family reunion is very touching, but I have more important things to do right now like save this universe and probably many others from being remade into the image of a mad Q. So if you'll kindly just step out of my way . . . ," Q said with a dismissive gesture.

"Why, you arrogant little prick! Rose, Jenny, and the rest of us have all come here to help these people save their universe. It's a universe that's in danger from one of your own lot I might point out. I noticed that your people couldn't stop him at all, but yet you think somehow that you'll be the one to magically do it despite that. Well, I'll tell you what, Admiral, I've seen Rose and Jenny defeat enemies that would make you wet your pants and run screaming for your mum so why don't you be the one to step back and let the real heroes do the job, Letter Boy? " Clara said as she took over her body once more.

Instead of becoming angry, Q smiled at her in amusement as he said, "I see why you keep her around now. It's always good to have a court jester around to amuse yourself with, isn't it?"

"I'll tell you what's going to amuse me . . ." Clara said as she started towards Q with her hands balled up into fists.

Jenny quickly got in-between them as Mr. Spock said, "These constant displays of emotion are not doing us any good in solving our current situation. They're only getting in the way just as they often do. I suggest that we settle our differences and all work together toward the common goal."

"I agree, Spock. Normally Clara isn't like this. She's always the nice, cheerful one. I think having to share a body with my mum is kind of pushing all of her buttons already though so she kind of has a short fuse these days. Maybe she's been hanging around my friends Amy and Donna a little too much lately too," Jenny said apologetically.

"Relax, Jen. I'm calm now. I'm turning it back over to Rose," Clara said.

"That's the best news that I've heard in a long time," Q said with a wicked smile as Clara glared at him.

He was clearly enjoying himself immensely. Clara made a mental note to herself to make him regret that someway somehow later on.

"So now that that's been settled what do all of you plan to do next? I plan on staying right where I am and attempting to contact this other Q to see if I can convince him to stop or at least so that I can find out something that I can use against him," Kirk said.

"You won't be able to find out anything that will be of any help to you, Captain. You and your precious ship will be completely helpless against him," Q said.

"Exactly who is he anyway? You said that he was one of your people who decided to remake our universe but why?" Kirk asked.

"The Q used to be a well ordered society where none of us had any real freedom, there was no such thing as individuality, and any sort of thinking outside the box whatsoever was seen as the worst thing imaginable by a Q and was usually severally punished. You can believe me on that one. Our society was dull, sterile, and absolutely boring. In order words, you would have loved it, Spock," Q said.

"I find that highly unlikely," Spock said since of course Vulcans weren't supposed to ever show emotion (not that that ever stopped him before).

"Yes, I forgot how your kind are supposedly not emotional, Spock. Okay, I'll amend that to if you actually could love something then. Happy? Oh, sorry. There I go forgetting again. Anyway eventually one of us started to question this status quo of ours and decided to rebel against it, and several others joined him. He was a very handsome fellow or so I've been told," Q said with a smug smile.

"Let me guess. It was you. So you overthrew your people's whole way of life and they're all now able to do whatever they want, right? How's that working out for you so far?" Buffy asked.

"Oh, no, young lady. This isn't because of my revolution. At least it's not directly anyway. It's actually as a response to it. The Q who is causing all of this is upset with all of this and wants a return to the old order. He knows that he can't change things back now because everyone likes things the way that they are so he's just going to remake everything and start all over. If he has to wipe out humanity who he sees as a lesser species in order to do it, then so be it. He's from the old school so he really doesn't care about any species but the Q," Q explained.

"I'm beginning to see the problem here," Jenny said.

"Exactly. He wants things to go back to the way that they used to be, and he doesn't care who or what he has to demolish to accomplish that. Get the picture, Blondie?" Q said.

"Yes, I do. So where did this renegade Q get all of this power from that he's using to keep the other Q from stopping him? Do you have any ideas about that?" Jenny asked.

"No, none of us do. I thought that might be where you come in since you're the one who receives all of the fancy visions and who calls herself the Guardian of the Multiverse," Q said with a smirk.

"Jenny's done more to help save the Multiverse in one mission than this creep's ever done in his life I bet. I'd really love to wipe that smug look off of his face," Buffy whispered to Spider-Man and Paige who both nodded in agreement.

"I might just help you with that before all of this is over with," Clara whispered back having overheard her.

"I did receive a vision but it was about what will happen if this renegade Q succeeds. He'll wipe out everything in this universe and replace it with Q who are nothing but perfect copies of himself. He's basically planning on making everyone in this new universe into him – literally. I also saw him taking his new order to other worlds too and trying the same thing there," Jenny said.

"So basically he thinks that he's perfect and everyone should be exactly like him. He may be the one person in this universe even more full of himself than you are, Letter Boy," Clara said.

"Can anyone put a muffler on the human? It's just not that funny anymore," Q said with disdain.

"Don't I know you?" Paige asked Q as she looked at him intently.

Q watched her with a smirk on his face as he said, "No, I'm quite sure that we've never seen each other before. I'd remember that slack jawed look on your face."

"It's you! It must be you! You're that Elder named Odin that was trying to shut down the magic school in my universe and who was trying to take Leo away from Piper. You're just as arrogant and sure of yourself as he was and definitely just as rude and disrespectful," Paige accused him.

"I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Although I must say that if he were rude and disrespectful to you, whoever he was, I can certainly sympathize with him," Q said with an even larger smirk on his face as if he were hiding something.

"Yeah, I bet you can," Paige said suspiciously.

"For all we know this guy is the one causing all of this or is helping the one who is. How can we trust a single word that he says?" Spider-Man said.

"Please. I am many things but a liar isn't one of them," Q said with a snort.

"Are his pants on fire yet?" Clara asked with a chuckle.

"I don't think anyone bought that one, Q," Jenny said in amusement.

"I see that I'm having just as much trouble here as I would with Picard. I really think I would have had a better chance of convincing him of what I had to say, but would the other Q listen to my pearls of wisdom? No. I only helped them win their freedom, but apparently that doesn't count for much anymore," Q complained.

That was when another being appeared out of nowhere and smiled in amusement. This one was a young blonde woman in her early twenties with a pleasant demeanor, kind eyes, and a warm smile. She waved at the others as she introduced herself to them.

"Hello, I'm Amanda Rogers. I was born on Earth and lived the first part of my life thinking that I was a human but I am also Q. I prefer Amanda though. I told the others that you would botch this up with your pleasant personality and your winning behavior, Q, but they decided to send you anyway. Not that you've gotten everyone successfully turned against you and even suspicious of you in less than fifteen minutes, they've decided to send me along to help you out," Amanda said.

"So what are you supposed to be then? My minder? My babysitter? Is that what I've been reduced to? I've been sent the Q who thought she was human to keep me out of trouble? Is that it?" Q said in disgust and disbelief.

"Something like that, yeah," Amanda said with a chuckle.

"Now I'm glad that Picard isn't here. He'd be laughing himself into hysterics," Q said with a depressed look on his face.

"I'm sure that's not true, Q. I'm sure that Captain Picard would hardly laugh that much. He does have some dignity after all. He'd probably just laugh for a few minutes at the most until his sides started to hurt," Amanda said with an evil grin.

"I vote that we listen to whatever she has to say. I like her," Clara said.

"You would," Q said.

"Do you have any better ideas about where this other Q is getting his power from?" Jenny asked.

"No, the Q still don't know yet which is very embarrassing to them since they've always bragged so much about how they know everything and how all powerful that they are. This whole situation is pretty much proving once and for all that neither of those statements is true. It's driving them all up the wall I have to tell you," Amanda said with a chuckle.

"I'm sure that it is but that's neither here nor there. We must stop Q before he destroys us all and remakes us into him. I mean if anyone was going to be a universal template to base everyone on it should obviously be me not him," Q said.

"I'm confused. You're calling the guy that we're up against Q, but didn't you say that you're Q?" Spider-Man asked.

"We're all called Q in the Continuum," Q said as though he were explaining something to a child.

"How does anyone ever know who's talking to who then?" Spider-Man asked still confused.

"We all know who we are. We don't need a separate name to tell us that," Q answered.

"It's hard for non-Q to understand I know, but it makes perfect sense to us. It's one reason I use my original name when I talk to others outside the Continuum. Well, that and I like it. I like thinking and acting human because that's a part of who I am even if I'm not one," Amanda said.

"You're right, Clara. I like her too," Rose said.

Q muttered something under his breath that no one could understand as Spock walked over to Andromeda who he noticed hadn't said a word so far and stood by her. She looked up and gave him a weak smile.

"Hello, Spock. It's nice to see you again," Andromeda said in a sad voice.

"I may be a stranger to emotion but even I know that doesn't sound like a happy tone in your voice," Spock said.

"I'm sorry. It's not you. I am happy to see you or at least I would be normally anyway. I just don't feel too great about myself these days, Spock. I froze under pressure and almost got all of us killed recently. I shouldn't even be here. I'm just useless," Andromeda said in a voice filled with shame.

"That's not true, Andromeda. You only froze for a moment because so many of us were already down. That's a natural reaction, and you didn't endanger anyone by doing it. In fact, when it counted the most, you're the one who saved us all by freeing Jenny and Arkytior. You actually saved us all. You've never been useless," Eris said as she overheard this.

Andromeda shook her head profusely as Spock said, "You had this same problem with your own self-worth once before until I proved to you that you were mistaken. If you were mistaken once before, then logically you must be mistaken again because the same answer is still true. You have the greatest worth to yourself and everyone around you, and you proved that the last time that I saw you by helping us save our ship. Apparently you've proved it on several other occasions as well which is only logical."

Andromeda smiled at him and said, "I still don't buy it for a second, but thanks for trying to cheer me up, Spock. I really appreciate it."

Then she kissed him on the cheek and wrapped her arms around him in gratitude. Spock didn't respond back to her, but he didn't attempt to push her away or tell her to stop either. For him, that was a big step.

Kirk couldn't help but shake his head as he said to himself, "Spock's still getting the girl without even trying, and no one's interested in me in the slightest. What happened?"

"If it helps any, Captain, I think you're kind of cute," Amanda said with a grin.

"Thank you," Kirk said as a bit of his old swagger returned.

"Q, will you stop flirting with the Captain and help me convince everyone else here to leave? I need to solve this situation all by myself, and I can't stand here wasting time letting needless distractions like attempting to inflate Captain Kirk's ego and useless endeavors in futility like Spock's pathetic attempts at a love life weigh me down," Q said to Amanda.

"Can someone please get him a muffler?" Clara said in annoyance.

Mary Winchester meanwhile was actually glad that all of this was going nowhere and that they hadn't yet confronted the being behind this. She didn't want to go into battle again, and she was really hoping that all of this could be resolved in some peaceful way.

She knew that was a far cry from her old self who reveled getting into a fight at the drop of a hat. Ever since she had almost died in the last mission though, she was terrified of it happening again and for real this time.

She hadn't mentioned this to any of the others because she was too afraid to yet. She knew that it was going to come out sooner or later though, and she didn't want the others to think less of her when it did. She wasn't sure what to do, but she knew that she had to do something soon. Otherwise she would be the one to freeze up in battle and cost lives not Andromeda.

"Mary, you'll do alright when push comes to shove. I know you will," Rose suddenly whispered to her as she put a comforting arm around her.

Mary looked at her in surprise and realized that she knew. She knew all about it.

"Jenny was right about you. You do know everything," Mary said in disbelief as Rose laughed and walked away.

"I still don't believe you though," Mary said to herself after Rose was gone.

Eris meanwhile couldn't help but feel terrible about Andromeda and what she was going through at that moment. She watched her as she continued to embrace Spock with a depressed look on her face, and it hurt her deeply to see the pain there in her expression. She just wished that Andromeda could finally see herself once and for all the way that she saw her. She'd never have such a low opinion of herself ever again if she could.

Meanwhile while all of this was going on, the Q who was responsible for all of this was on the bridge silently watching all of them invisibly while hiding himself even from the enhanced senses of his two fellow Q on board. He was enjoying watching all of them trying and failing to figure out what was going on and having absolutely no idea what to do about it. He knew that at this rate none of them stood a chance of stopping him before it was too late, and he delighted in that fact.

It only proved to him once and for all that the old ways of the Q were best and that he was right to go to any lengths in order to bring them back. Since he was the only Q to stay true to them, it was only right that everyone should be based on him as well.

"Do you see? You're winning, my friend. None of them can lift a finger against you," A voice said behind the renegade Q.

"Yes, and it's all thanks to you. If it wasn't for your help, none of this would even be possible. I still don't understand why you're doing this for however. What does it benefit you? You're not even from this universe," The renegade Q asked.

"It benefits me because by the time of your final triumph you'll have gained a complete and total victory over some of the only people who could have stopped my mistress from taking over my own universe. With all of them out of the way, I'll be one step closer to that day. The Day of Discord!" the Trickster said with a smug smile on his face.

Next: The Trickster is about to find out that Rose, Clara, and the Alternaverse Gang aren't the only ones standing in his way as a very familiar figure returns to this story at a crucial moment. I won't say anything more about that except that things will definitely not go the way that the Trickster expects them to. Will Jenny and the others be able to stop the renegade Q and the Trickster from wiping out the entire Star Trek universe? Will Andromeda and Mary ever gain their confidence back even a little bit or will they both freeze up just as they feared when push comes to shove? Plus more on the budding relationship between Andromeda and Spock and a mysterious person on Kirk's crew shows more than a passing interest in Jenny's TARDIS. Who is it and why?
