Prologue
Inside the computer room, Riku and Namine were inside. Riku was watching Namine at the computer. Just then, the door opened. Riku cautiously raised his sword to the door, ready to fight. "Easy! It's only us." Leafa defended as she and Recon walked through the door. Riku lowered his weapon as they came in close. "I'm grateful you made it here." Namine told them, "Did you say your goodbyes?" Leafa and Recon nodded. "Hayner, Pence and Olette were confused, but they understood." Recon explained. "Let's just hope they listened to the part where we told them not to follow us." Leafa added.
Namine got out of the seat and walked next to Riku. Leafa walked over to the computer and placed a note on it. "I made sure to write this so that only those guys could understand the password to this computer." Leafa explained, "But considering this is Kirito and Sora…" she had in her other hand a portable cooler, and placed it on the ground next to the computer. "What's that?" Riku asked. "Provisions." Leafa answered, sidestepping as Riku passed her to open the cooler, "They must be hungry from all that traveling, so I made sure to leave them a snack." Nobody else noticed, but Riku was smirking. "Hmph. Guess that will work." Riku muttered, closing the cooler and turning to the team.
"By the way, I also found out that the Organization just had a falling out." Namine told them. "A falling out?" Recon asked. "Yes. Apparently, one of its' members turned traitor, and is now being chased as we speak." "Well, who is it?" Recon asked. Namine made a pause, then she answered with one name. "Axel." "Seriously?" Leafa asked in a surprised tone. "Well, Axel has dropped clues for us." Recon pointed out, "He did inform us of some things back at Radiant Garden. And don't forget about about the fact that if it wasn't for him, Aincrad would still be around." "Yeah, I guess…" Leafa agreed, thinking on the matter. Axel was the one who told them all about how to send Aincrad back home.
"So what's the plan?" Leafa asked, "Are we gonna find Kairi first, or are we gonna find Axel?" "We don't need Axel's help." Riku stated bluntly, "Just leave him alone." "But he did help us…" Recon reminded him. "It doesn't matter." Leafa retorted, drawing everyone's attention, "All we need to do is find Kairi. And if we bump into Axel along the way…well, we'll figure something out." Namine and Recon nodded in agreement. Riku huffed.
"Okay, Namine." Leafa said, turning to her, "Let's go." Namine nodded in agreement, and pressed a few buttons on the keyboard. It activated the digital transporter. Everyone stepped into it, and with one last look at the room, the machine activated. They were digitized into the machine, going to where the entrance to the Organization's world is at. (Cue opening song)
Chapter 1: Assault on the Dreadnought
The Gummi Ship was dashing its' way through space, making it's way to Twilight Town once more. "Almost there…" Yui stated, looking at the computer screen. The others were doing their best to remain calm, but they were so serious. At last, they finally discovered where the Organization's stronghold was at. It was where Kingdom Hearts was being made. The place where all of the members of the Organization were at, including Xemnas and Gouxus. It was also where Kairi was trapped in. Everyone was fully prepared to take on whatever the Organization would throw at them.
"Uh, oh…" Yui moaned, looking at the monitor. "What is it?" Sora asked. "It seems the link to Twilight Town has been blocked by a spacial gate." Yui explained, "We have to get through that in order to get to Twilight Town." "Seems like the Organization has set up something to stop us." Kirito growled, "Well, that won't stop us, will it." "No!" Donald shouted in response. "Still, we should be prepared." Asuna stated, "Is there anyway of powering up the Gummi Ship?" "We can ask Chip and Dale to do somethin'!" Goofy suggested. "Yeah, let's ask them!" Donald agreed.
Yui tapped away at the computer screen, and after a few rings, Chip and Dale pulled up on the monitor. "Hey ya, everyone!" Chip greeted. "What'cha callin' for?" Dale asked. "We need an improvement for the Gummi Ship." Sora explained, "Think you can do something about that?" "You got it!" Chip cheered. "We've actually built something that just might do the trick for ya!" Dale explained. "Here ya go!" the chipmunks chimed in unison, and they pressed something. Within seconds, the Gummi ship lit up brightly, blinding everyone. Next thing that happened, the Gummi Ship transformed. It was a black ship with two red thorns in front and lights. On either side of the ship docked two tiny ships, which were red, white, and yellow windows.
"Woah!" gasped the crew. "May we present…" Dale started. "…the new and improved Gummi Ship…" continued Chip. "…Highwind mark 8!" the duo chimed in unison. "Cool!" gasped Sora. "I like the color." Kirito stated. "Figured you would." Asuna sighed, "But what are those little ships on either side. "They're Teeny Ships, and they're names are Windedge #1 & #2." Chip answered. "They add a little additional firepower with the Gummi Ship." Dale explained. "Plus, they're connected to the Gummi ship, so they won't be far away from it." Chip added.
"All right!" cheered Sora, "Does that mean I get to pilot one of them? Huh? Huh?" he looked to everyone. "Sure as long as you don't break it." Yui answered. Sora whooped for joy and dashed over to where he could get on the left Teeny Ship while Goofy went on the right. Donald was at the steering wheel. Yui was at the control board. Asuna placed herself at the turret controls. Kirito joined Yui at the computer, since that part he knew how to work with. "Good luck out there, you guys!" chimed the chipmunks, and the screen went back to the mapping screen. The team were set up for gate, fully prepared for anything. "Ready? Engage!" shouted Yui, and Donald pushed the Gummi Ship into the gate.
The moment they entered, they knew they made the right decision of upgrading their ship. There were tons and tons of Nobody Cruisers and Mini Cruisers around them, almost like a scene out of a space battle movie. The team didn't hesitate, and started firing like crazy at all of the ships. They darted through all the massive ships until they reached a fleet of Mini Cruisers. They tried to attack, but for some strange reason, the ships flew up and out of the way. A short moment later, they found out why.
A large beam shot out of nowhere, and shot at the spot they were heading towards, but thankfully Donald avoided it. "What's that?!" Sora shouted through the monitor on his Teeny Ship. The team turned and saw, what they assumed, the massive mother ship of the fleet. "Hang on!" Yui cried, tapping away at the computer, "Enemy Nobodies ahead of us!" A horde of smaller spacial Nobodies started coming at them, and the team started firing like crazy. The mothership fired another massive beam from its' main cannon, but the team flew over it. The shot right through the fleet of assortment Cruisers, firing and blasting at all of them.
"Get on top of that ship!" Kirito shouted, pointing to the mothership. They started combing the top of the ship, trying to get in close. However, the ship retaliated by firing more lasers from every part of it. Donald maneuvered the Gummi Ship from side to side, avoiding the fire, while destroying all the Nobodies that came their way. They came out the opposite side of the mothership, and turned just in time to see a docking bay door open to let out some Mini Cruisers out before closing. "We gotta get inside that frigate!" Goofy shouted on the monitor. "Hang on…" Yui stated, typing at the computer with Kirito. "Here it is!" Kirito finally found it, "Take the right side, now!" "You got it!" Donald acknowledged, and after moving through an assortment of Nobodies and Cruisers, they found another bay door. This time, it opened up to let out more Nobodies. The team shot them down, and entered the mothership interior.
The inside of the ship was as white as the exterior. Not only that, tons of Nobodies were waiting for them. The Gummi Ship spiraled right through the pathways within the ship, blasting everything and anything that came in their way, including closed doors. They went down a narrow path, and doors started to close in on them as they went. They maneuvered around the doors as best as they could, barely grazing the last one. "That was too close!" Asuna shouted as she started firing at more cannon-type Nobodies. "Two can play at that game!" Kirito retorted, typing furiously at the computer.
Yui helped guide Donald through the hallways of the interior. They had to blast open doors as they shot downward, whichever way that was. They couldn't really tell anymore which way was up. Plenty of Nobodies entered their path, and some tried sneaking behind if it hadn't been for Kirito's warning. "Climb up!" Yui shouted, and Donald pulled the Gummi ship up the narrow path, blasting through doors while avoiding the closing doors. He leveled the ship and went straight forward into another path, blasting more doors open.
At the last door, they found themselves in the center of the mothership, and in the middle of the large room they were in was the core of the ship. "Guys! Shoot that core!" Kirito shouted. Sora, Goofy and Asuna all started blasting the core furiously. Nobodies started to intrude in their fire as they slowly circled the core. The ones that were the most troublesome were the shield-based Nobodies, which were impenetrable from frontal assaults. The Donald maneuvered around all the shield Nobodies, and made sure that the core was within firing range. The core however, was really tough to break.
"If we don't do something soon, the mothership's guard systems will create a barrier around the core!" Yui warned the team. Kirito typed furiously at the computer, trying to figure out a way to finish it off faster. He got angrier and angrier by the second, and finally he cried, "Dammit, do something, Gummi Ship!", and he slammed his fists on the console. Suddenly, the Gummi ship's Berserk mode activated on them. A large beam started blasting from the ship as the team continued their fire. The Teeny Ships were now started darting around the Gummi, shooting even more powerfully than before. The team was surprised, but not complaining. Donald maneuvered, with Yui guiding him, firing at every part of the core.
Just before they were circling around to exit the ship, the core exploded from too much damage. "Yeah!" cheered Asuna, seeing the explosions from the core. "Donald, get us out of here!" Kirito and Sora through the monitor shouted. "No need to yell!" squawked Donald as he maneuvered the Gummi ship towards the exit. As they exited, more explosions entered their path, and all they could see in front was smoke and blasts. They shot out of the mothership like a bat out of hell.
The team looked behind to see the big ship standing in space there. "Wait for it…" Sora stated. Then finally, beams of light blasted through different parts of the ship, and finally, the giant ship exploded. It was like a supernova, only they weren't getting hit by it. "We did it!" cheered Yui and Goofy cheered in unison. "Nice shootin', everyone!" Kirito complimented everyone, "Now let's get this baby outta here." "Keyhole, dead ahead." Sora declared through the monitor, and sure enough, the Keyhole leading them out of the gate was right in front of them. Donald steered the ship right through it, and they went through a beam of light.
Next thing that happened, they blasted back out into normal space again. Donald brought the ship slowly to a halt. Everyone looked relieved and worn from the assault they just went through. "That was…too close." Asuna panted. "Nah, that was kinda fun!" laughed Sora as he and Goofy came back into the main ship.
Kirito looked to Sora, bewildered. "How can you be so cheerful at times like these anyway?" he asked. "It's all about having a strong heart." Sora responded, revealing a grin, "If your able to show a smile…even in the worst of times, then your ready to face any kind of danger heading your way!" Kirito shook his head. "You're crazy…" he moaned, then he smiled, "I guess that's why you have so many friends, huh?"
Sora looked up, thinking on Kirito's words. "Hmmm…I never really thought of it that way. You might have a point." Sora agreed, "But you also have a lot of amazing friends too, Kirito. Like, Klein, Agil, Liz, Silica, Yui, Asuna, Recon and your sister. Not to mention all the friends you made in this dimension, too." "That includes you, Donald and Goofy, right?" Kirito added. "You got it!" Sora answered eagerly. Kirito had to smile. Sora was right. He had made so many new friends in this dimension. It was kind of fun while it lasted, but he also knew he had to go back home with Asuna, Yui and the others. He also knew that Sora knew that.
Suddenly, Chip and Dale came up on the monitor. "What's that? That big…thing?" Chip asked. The team saw what they were talking about. Behind the world of Twilight Town was a shadow of something…ominous. It looked like another world, one with black buildings with neon lighting underneath a swirling pink and purple clouds. Above the clouds was a floating white castle, but nothing like Aincrad. Though it did have a certain…Organization XIII look to it.
"Is that it?" Asuna asked, looking at the silhouette of the strange area. "Yui, anything about that world?" Kirito asked, frowning at the strange area. "I don't know." Yui responded, tapping at the computer, "It doesn't show on the monitor. No entrance, no details. It doesn't even recognize it being there." The team looked to one another, confused. "So, how do we get in?" Sora asked. Everyone shook their head, not sure either.
"And there's something funny about Twilight Town." Chip added, "I'm seeing two of 'em!" The team looked to Twilight Town. Sure enough, either their eyes were playing tricks on them or something, but it would seem that there were two Twilight Town worlds in front of them. "What's that all about?" Donald asked in a disgruntled manner. "Look! It's another huge energy reading!" Dale pointed out, "And it's coming from someplace near the town." "I dunno what's going on, fellas, but it sure looks like there's some big trouble brewing around Twilight Town!" Chip stated. "So be careful over there!" the chipmunks chimed in unison, then the monitor went blank.
The team looked to one another, wondering. "If anyone want's to back down, now's a good time." Kirito stated. "We all came this far." Sora stated, "Let's go the rest of the way…together." Everyone else nodded in agreement. "I'll set our coordinates in the train station." said Yui, typing in at the computer. Everyone got onto the platform, ready to depart. With one push, Yui activated the transporter, and everyone got teleported.
Chapter 2: An Alternate Twilight Town
The team came out of teleportation within the Twilight Town train station. Nobody was around, including Nobodies. The team started walking towards the stairs that led to the outside. "Hey! I think we're almost there!" Goofy stated. Everyone turned to him in a confused manner. "Gawrsh, aren't we here because of the picture?" Goofy asked. Everyone was still confused at Goofy's words.
"Look, I'll show ya!" said Goofy, pulling something from his back pocket. It was the same photo the team mysteriously got before; the one with Hayner, Pence, Olette, and Roxas. "You know what, Goofy? You're right." Asuna agreed, seeing the photo. "Not only that," Kirito added, "but according to Leafa's letter, we're suppose to go to the mansion that picture was taken at; the mansion we all first met each other." "C'mon, let's go find this mansion!" declared Goofy. "Yeah!" agreed Sora, and the team now rushed out of the train station.
They decided to take the underground concourse, which according to a directory of the town, was the quickest way to get to each area of the town. They ran right through it, meeting up with a ton of Nobodies as they went. There were a variety of the white creatures as they passed through, like Dusks, Lancers, Gamblers, and Guardians. It took some time, but they finally were able to figure their way around the concourse, and made it to the main street tram commons of Twilight Town. They walked their way through the large streets of the town, finding the hole in the wall that led to the mansion, and went through it.
When they finally reached the mansion, they found three bodies sprawled out on the ground. "Hayner! Pence! Olette!" cried Asuna, seeing who they were, and the team rushed to them. Sora reached Hayner first and knelt down to him. "Hey, are you all right?" Sora asked, patting his back until Hayner regained consciousness, "What happened?" Hayner tried getting himself up, but instead flipped onto his butt, worn from whatever hit him. "We came here looking for Kairi." Hayner explained, "Then those white things attacked us…"
"You gotta be careful!" Donald warned him. "Yeah." Hayner responded, getting to his feet and looking to Kirito, "Guess we should've listened to your sister's advice about not following her." "Leafa told you that?" Kirito asked, getting Pence to his feet as Asuna did the same for Olette. "Leafa and Recon both said that they were gonna go find Kairi, and they said their farewells to us. They even gave us the trophy Leafa won." Pence explained, "We were hoping to follow them some time later, but…"
"You guys didn't have to go and do that." Sora told them. "Of course we did." Hayner retorted, "Kairi's our friend, too, ya know." Sora paused as he got to his feet again, thinking about it. "You're right…" he agreed, "You know, I never thought of it like that before."
"So, why were you heading to the mansion?" Asuna asked them. "Word is, this mansion gets a lot of really strange visitors." Hayner explained. "We thought this place might be the gateway to some kind of alternate Twilight Town." Olette added. "What do you mean 'alternate Twilight Town'?" Sora asked, confused.
Pence turned to Goofy. "Hey, Goofy, do you think we could see that crystal of yours?" he asked. Goofy nodded, and he pulled out both the crystal and the wallet that contained it. "I made that pouch myself, and I still have it." Olette explained, "So there shouldn't be two of them here." "Yeah, I remember you saying that." Kirito recalled, thinking way back when at the beginning of their journey. "And this is the trophy Leafa gave us." Hayner stated, pulling out the Struggle trophy from who knows where. "It's the only one of its kind." Pence explained, "Same for the crystals; red, blue, yellow, green, only one of each color. But you've got your own!"
"So…where'd you get it?" Hayner asked Sora. Sora and everyone else recalled on that day Mickey saved them at the Station Plaza. "The pouch is from the King." Goofy remembered, "When he gave us munny for the train ride, he gave us the crystal too." "But then…where did the KING get it?" Pence asked. The team looked to one another, not sure. The only explanation that they could think of was the Twilight Town trio's hypothesis.
"See?" Hayner prompted them, "There's gotta be another town out there like this one. That would explain how the King got that pouch and the crystal. Everything makes sense." Sora looked to Kirito and Asuna, who were giving off the same confused expression as him. "It…does?" Sora asked. "I think you'll need to explain a bit better on this one." Asuna told them. "That other town must be where whatever's missing from here went!" Pence explained. "Like Kairi." Olette added. "I get it!" Sora realized. "Then we should go investigate." Kirito suggested, looking up at the mansion, "Let's go inside."
Not a second passed after he said this than a couple Dusks appeared from behind them. Everyone turned and got prepared when they saw them. "Hayner, Pence, Olette. Stay back!" Asuna told them, "We don't want you three to get hurt." The trio acknowledged and ran into the forest surrounding the mansion. For a while, the two sides looked at each other, then one of the Dusks lunged forward.
Out of nowhere, Mickey arrived to the scene, and knocked out the attacking Nobody with his Keyblade. "Watch out!" he called to them. Kirito noticed the other Dusk about to strike Mickey, and used his Sonic Leap Sword Skill to quickly get over and strike down the Nobody. "You do the same, Your Majesty." Kirito replied as the two stood back to back, while more Nobodies appeared to around all of the team.
The team went to work, impaling all of the Nobodies that came in their path. It seemed like every type of regular Nobody they met before seemed to have gathered right here to attack them. They came one wave after another, each wave needed to be knocked out differently. Early into the assault, Sora, Donald and Goofy performed their Trinity Limit attack, destroying two separate waves on their own. That kind of power was seriously tough. When a group of Lancers and Guardians, both the sword and archer types, came in, Kirito and Asuna performed their 'Aincrad Resolve' Limit Break, practically destroying them, and nearly wiping out the wave after. All the while, Mickey kept jumping around like a lemming, twirling and slashing his Keyblade at any Nobody that stood in his path. It took a while, but the team eliminated all the Nobodies.
Once they settled down, the team gathered together. "What're you doing here, Your Majesty?" Sora asked him. "I got somethin' to tell ya." Mickey answered, "I found out where Ansem is, Ansem the Wise! The real Ansem! He snuck into Organization XIII's stronghold." He then looked to Kirito, Asuna and Yui as he continued, "And there is something else; the man you are looking for, the one named DiZ, is really Ansem the Wise himself." "Really?!" Kirito exclaimed, totally surprised at this. "You mean to tell us that all this time, Ansem is suppose to be the guy we were looking for?" Asuna asked. "Yep!" Mickey answered. Kirito, Asuna and Yui looked to one another, startled. Ansem the Wise was really the guy who sent them to this dimension.
"And we've figured out where Kairi is! I'm pretty sure we're right." Sora told the King. "But why'd you all come here?" Mickey asked. "Someone gave us a clue." Sora replied. "Three people, actually." Kirito corrected Sora, "Two of them were Leafa and Recon. But the third…well, Sora believes he knows who it is." "Who?" Mickey asked. "Well, Your Majesty, Sora thinks it might been Riku." Goofy answered him. "It's just a feeling I had." Sora added. "Welp, if that's what ya think, then it's probably right." Mickey responded. "You mean Riku's okay!" Sora exclaimed. Kirito and Asuna looked to each other. They didn't explain to Sora that Leafa knows Riku. "If that's what ya think…" Mickey replied to Sora.
"I've waited long enough, Your Majesty! Tell me what you know!" Sora demanded. Mickey turned his back to Sora. "It's not for me to say." he stated. "But Your Majesty! Why?" Sora asked in a longing matter. Mickey sighed as he answered, "I don't wanna break my promise." "You made a promise to Riku?!" Sora exclaimed, and Mickey covered his mouth, realizing his mistake, "So he's okay! I can see him again!"
Hey…Sora?" Kirito started, drawing his attention, "I…withheld this information from you, but on the letter I got from Leafa, she said that she also knows Riku, and is with him right now." "What?!" Sora cried, "Why didn't you…" "Leafa told us not to tell you." Asuna answered, "We're sorry, Sora. You have to understand this." Sora wasn't bothered by this, but grinned excitedly. "It's ok. I'm just glad to know he's okay!" he cheered.
Hayner, Pence and Olette came out of hiding and walked towards them. "Huh? Who's Riku?" Hayner asked, hearing part of the conversation. "My best friend." Sora answered. "That's IT!" realized Pence. "Your Majesty?" Olette questioned as she bent down to him, "You got the pouch with the crystal from Riku, didn't you? And you promised not to tell, right?" "Gosh, guys…" moaned the King, rubbing behind his ear. "That's enough!" squawked Donald. "We can talk more about this once were inside the mansion." Yui stated. "Yeah. Let's go!" Sora declared, turning to the mansion, "Kairi! Riku! We're on our way!" "Leafa! Recon! Look out, cause here we come!" Kirito mumbled.
Once inside, they looked around. It was just as dismal as the time they left it. "There's gotta be a computer somewhere." Mickey assumed. "A computer…" echoed Pence, "Do you think it's connected to that other Twilight Town?" "It might be…" Mickey answered, "And there should be a way into the Realm of Darkness there." "Riku told you that, didn't he?!" Sora accused Mickey. "Please, Sora. I made a promise." Mickey replied. "Aha! I knew it!" Sora exclaimed. "Hey! Stop pestering the King!" Donald scolded Sora. "Right. Sorry…" Sora mumbled. "In any case," Asuna cut in, "I believe we know where the computer is at. Leafa led Kirito, Yui and I down to where it is. Here, we'll show ya." With that, she led the team to the doors that led to the basement.
Kirito was the first to enter the computer room and looked around. It seemed like ages since he was last here, and the time before that. He looked to a part of the room, and visualized the time he, Asuna and Yui woke up in this very room. That was just the beginning of this wild adventure they were put on. Asuna was right next to him, looking at the same spot as him. "We've sure come a long way." Kirito pointed out to her, "Now, were gonna settle this." "And we'll finally be able to get back home without any worries." Asuna said, smiling as she continued to look at the same spot. "First, we should take care of Gouxus and the rest of Organization XIII." Kirito stated. Asuna nodded in response.
The rest of the team walked in, and Mickey noticed the computer at the corner. "There!" Mickey pointed out. "We found it!" proclaimed Sora. The team ran over to the computer and looked at it. "Hey, look!" Goofy said, pointing to the keyboard. On it was a folded piece of paper. Sora reached over and looked at it. "It's from Leafa." he noticed. "Here. Let me." Kirito stated, taking the letter from Sora and opening it. He read it out loud.
Dear Kirito, Sora and friends,
If you are reading this right now, I'm already gone. I am with Riku right now, and we're heading to the Realm of Darkness to go look for Kairi. If you want to follow us, log into this computer. It's password locked, but I'm sure you guys will figure it out. Let's finish this fight together, guys, and head home.
Your sister,
Suguha, a.k.a Leafa
P.S. I figured you guys must be hungry, so I left some treats for you in the cooler right next to the computer. Enjoy!
Kirito folded the letter, and looked to the side of the computer. Sure enough, on the floor was a small cooler. Sora pulled it out and opened it up. Inside were five ice cream bars, and one smaller one. "Hey, it's ice cream!" Donald stated. Sora pulled them out and gave it to each person. They all looked the same flavor. The smaller one was perfect for Yui's size, who took it eagerly. The team bit into the ice cream together.
"Salty!" Goofy described. "Wait…now sweet." Kirito realized. "It's the ice cream we had before." Asuna recalled, looking to Donald, who nodded in agreement. "It tastes good!" Sora said eagerly, taking another bite into it, "This must be that sea-salt ice cream Leafa told us about before." Mickey was suddenly recalling something, but he didn't know how it fit into their situation.
The team continued eating the ice cream as they looked to the computer. "How does it work?" Donald asked. "Let me…" Kirito started, but then realized he had no place to put his ice cream down. "I can handle it." Pence stated, walking through the group to the computer. Pence sat down at the seat and typed at the computer. "Okay… Here we go…" he mumbled as he worked then he stopped. "What's wrong?" Hayner asked. "I can't go any further without a password." Pence sighed. "Yeah. Leafa said the computer was password locked." Kirito remembered.
"Do ya have any idea what the password might be?" Mickey asked the group. Sora, Kirito and Asuna folded their arms, thinking about it. Leafa said they should figure it out, but how does she know? Was there a clue they were missing? "Well, we only got this photo…" Goofy stated, pulling the photo out again. Asuna almost took another bite into her ice cream when she remembered, "Wait, we also got one of these ice cream bars. The one Donald ate up." Donald squawked as he recalled that. "It was in the box right next to the photo."
"Hey, that's it!" Mickey exclaimed, "Ansem the Wise loved ice cream!" "Okay, what's the name of the flavor?" Pence asked. Kirito and Sora looked to each other before answering in unison, "Sea-salt!" Pence typed the flavor name in. "It worked!" Pence cheered. Suddenly, the machine on the other side of the computer started to light up. A beam of digital energy was set up to transport them.
At that moment, the team finished off their ice cream. "Let's go!" Sora declared. "We'll be here to hold down the fort." Hayner told them. "Say hi to Kairi!" Olette asked. "You bet!" Sora replied. "This isn't a pleasure cruise we're going on." Kirito stated, "We're about to enter the final battle. So let's get serious!" "Serious, but with a smile." Asuna added, smiling at him. Kirito looked to her, and he recalled Sora's words before. Finally, he smiled as well. "Right." he nodded. With that, Kirito, Asuna, Yui, Sora, Donald, Goofy and Mickey all entered the machine. As one, they touched the beam of light, and they disappeared into data.
Chapter 3: Fall of the Fearless Flames
Standing on top of one of a dark skyscraper of the World That Never Was, Leafa stood there, looking down at the streets. "Just great…" she huffed, "I ended up fighting a ton of Heartless and flew too far away from the others. Now I can't figure out where I am anymore." She turned her head towards the large floating white castle in the sky before her. Behind was supposedly Kingdom Hearts itself, shining in the darkened sky. "Well, I know where our destination is, so I should get moving there." Leafa stated.
Leafa was about to take off when a group of Dusks suddenly appeared around her. "Back for more, I suppose?" she asked amusingly, whipping her Keyblade out. A Dusk came at her, but she jumped into the air, and performed a downward slash onto it. Two more flew up to meet her, but she spun around with her weapon, destroying the two. She then produced her wings and started murmuring an incantation. She activated her 'Wind Needles' Magic Spell, and the scattering rain of needles showered down on the remaining Nobodies, destroying them.
She landed on the ground in the middle of the wreckage she made, looking around. "Guess it's not safe anywhere." she said, "I should find Riku, Namine and Recon." She made a few steps forward before someone called out to her. "Hey, Leafa. Fancy meeting you hear." She turned and saw someone in a black coat behind her. "It's you again!" she gasped, seeing the person.
Back in the computer room, Sora, Kirito and the gang came out of teleportation and stepped out of the machine. "Are we back in the same place?" Sora asked. "No." Yui replied, "I can see the data streams that create everything around here. We are definitely within a digital area of some kind." The team looked around, and Donald pointed out something. The computer they were using before was now severely damaged. Most of the screens were cracked, and the keyboard was smashed up. Sparks still arced around it. It looked like someone wrecked it up, but quite a while ago.
"What happened to the computer?" Asuna asked, touching one of the screens. "This is the other Twilight Town." Sora answered, "Roxas's Twilight Town." He then visualized the moment Roxas was in here before, smashing at the computer with his Keyblade. Everyone else looked to him with a puzzled expression.
"There's gotta be an entrance into the dark realm somewhere." Mickey assumed, "Let's split up." "No need." Yui intruded, getting everyone's attention, "Since this world is made of data, I'm able to detect anything out of place here." She turned to the door nearest to them. "It's right through there." "Then that's where we're heading." Sora stated.
The team entered the door and looked around. It was a square shaped room, with neon lighting on the floor. One thing that was out of place was a floating orb of white, black and green energy in one corner. Even from far away, the team could feel some weird energy pouring from it. "There…" Sora pointed out. The team walked towards it, Mickey coming shortly behind them. "This is it." he said. "This is the gateway to the realm of darkness?" Kirito asked, eyeing it. Sora nodded. For him, he was easily able to tell what it was. All seven of them looked to one another, making sure each of them were ready. Then one by one, they entered the portal.
When they came through, they found themselves in the strangest place. It was a corridor full of swirling, multi-colored energy. It was dark and ominous, and the only thing they could see that told something was holding them was a pattern of the Nobodies mark. The team looked all around them. "What is this place?" Sora asked. "Dunno." Kirito responded, "Yui?" The navigation pixie shook her head, not sure either. "Hey, where's the King?" Asuna asked looking behind them. The portal, much large than the one they went in through before, was still open, but the King didn't follow them. "Maybe he had to make sure he got something?" Sora suggested. They paused, wondering.
"Well, which way should we go?" Donald asked. "Riku! Kairi!" Sora called out. No response. "I doubt they're here, Sora." Kirito responded, walking next to him. "Let's just…keep walking until we find something." They didn't even make one step before they did actually find something, or something found them. A group of Dusks appeared from all around them, surrounding the group. The team instantly reacted by producing their weapons. The team started attacking the group of Dusks that appeared before them. They were easy to take care of after fighting them so much in their journey, but the problem was that they kept spawning from who knows where. No matter how many they knocked down, more kept popping up.
The team stood back to back again, surrounded by even more Dusks than before. "It's no use!" Sora cried as he glared at the enemies. Suddenly, a familiar voice shouted to them. One they haven't heard since the Heartless Siege. "Don't stop moving, or the darkness will overtake you!" he warned. The team turned to Sora's angle to see Axel come out of nowhere, striking down a couple Dusks with his chakrams. "Get goin'!" he shouted to the group. "Why?" Sora asked. "Don't ask. Just do it!" Axel shouted, pausing for a second.
A couple of Dusks tackled Axel from behind, pinning him to the ground. Sora led the others to him, knocking the couple out of the way. Four more about to attack, but then they heard Leafa's voice shout "Aeroga!" A ball of wind knocked out all four Dusks, and Leafa came rushing in out of nowhere. "Leafa?" Kirito gasped, surprised to see her. "I know, I know! What the hell am I doing here?" Leafa guessed, turning her back, eyeing the Nobodies around them, "Long story short, I was fighting a ton of Heartless when I got lost, then I found Axel, who's turned traitor to the Organization, so I'm helpin' him." Kirito looked down to Axel, who was groaning as he tried getting up again.
"You okay?" Sora asked him as he got to his knees. Asuna, Kirito, Donald and Goofy noticed a bunch of Dusks nearing in from behind them, and they went in to attack them, leaving Sora, Leafa and Axel alone. "I kidnapped Kairi, but she got away from me." Axel explained, "After that, Saïx caught her. He's a member of Organization XIII, Saïx. Got it memorized? Now go save her!" A Dusk appeared from behind Sora, about to attack him. Sora spun around, slashing it away. Leafa helped Axel to his feet as the group of Dusks started swarming around the trio. "Leave us alone!" Sora shouted.
Kirito and the others were busy on their end, so Sora, Axel and Leafa worked together to take on the assault of Dusk. It was obvious that Axel was worn from running away from these creatures, as he had to rest every once and a while. Sora and Leafa were tag-teaming together, striking every opponent that came their way. Not only there Dusks to deal with, but there were also Assassin Nobodies as well. They kept growing in numbers around them, and the two Keyblade wielders were cornered by a swarm of them. "Sora, let's do a Limit Break!" Leafa suggested. "Right!" Sora agreed, and the two clashed Keyblades together, and activated 'Alfheim Break'.
Both Sora and Leafa produced green fairy wings, flipped into the air, and charged at the Nobodies. Sora kept producing a barrage of wind blasts, while Leafa slashed around using razor-wind slashes. The two kept striking one after another until they stood along side each other. Leafa and, by sheer instinct, Sora started to cast a magical incantation as one, the words forming around them. They completed the spell, and a green cyclone formed around them, swallowing up all the Nobodies around them and severely damaging them. After a while, the winds died down, and Leafa and Sora's fairy wings disappeared, ending the Limit Break. "I forgot how strong that actually was." Axel complimented Leafa, "Guess I didn't memorize it that well." She smirked back at Axel, then turned her attention to the swarm of Nobodies in front of them, and they continued fighting.
On and on, the onslaught kept going, and every time they took out one, two more popped up in their place. After a while, they were surrounded by hundreds of Dusks. Sora, Leafa and Axel jumped back to back with each other. "I think I liked it better when they were on my side." Axel stated sarcastically. "Aw, are you starting to miss the Organization?" sassed Leafa. "Feeling a little…regret?" taunted Sora. Axel turned to the two with a smirk. "Nah…I can handle these punks." he retorted, "Heh…watch this!"
He jumped away from them and into an open space within the swarm of Nobodies. His chakrams started to float on their own and spin around him as they and him both lit on fire. Axel mustered up all the power he could produce, and unleashed a fiery storm that blinded everyone. When the fire cleared, Sora and Leafa unshielded their eyes and looked around. Not a single trace of the Nobodies remained around them. Donald, Goofy, Kirito and Asuna all looked around, surprised. "Woah!" gasped Sora and Leafa in unison.
They turned to where Axel was at, only to see him on his back, the flames dying away, and smoke coming off of his body. However, this wasn't the normal fire smoke. Sora and Leafa dashed to Axel's side and saw what was happening to his body. "You're…fading away…" Sora noticed. "Well, that's what happens when you put your whole being into an attack. You know what I mean?" Axel replied, "Not that Nobodies actually HAVE beings…right?" "You…didn't have to sacrifice yourself like this." Leafa said, startled at what he had done, "Why? Why go so far?!" "I don't know." Axel replied, turning his head to Leafa, "I guess…I just wanted to show off to you guys. Plus, I know you can do a better job at stopping the Organization than I could." Leafa looked sadly at Axel. They may have been enemies and rivals, but in time, Leafa started to respect Axel a lot more as time went by.
"Anyway, I digress." Axel stated, looking to the both of them, "Go, find Kairi. Oh, almost forgot… Sorry for what I did to her." "When we find her, you can tell her that yourself." Sora told him. "Think I'll pass." Axel replied, turning his head away from them, "My heart just wouldn't be in it, you know? Haven't got one." He chuckled at this last statement. "Axel, what were you trying to do?" Sora asked him. "I wanted to see Roxas." Axel responded, surprising Sora and Leafa, "He…was the only one I liked… He made me feel…like I had a heart. It's kind of…funny…" He turned to the two of them. "You two make me feel…the same…" Leafa blushed at this, but then saw Axel's face get serious. "Kairi's in the castle dungeon." Axel finished, "Now go!" He shakily raised one of his hands, and activated a portal for them. His hand then flopped to the ground as his body started to fade at a faster pace. "Axel…" Sora mumbled, seeing him go. "Goodbye…friend…" said Leafa, as Axel finally disappeared from view.
The others joined up with the two, who were still kneeling on the floor. They saw some things that were left behind, a Keyblade Keychain, and three orbs, which floated all around Leafa's body. The keychain had a red and black chain with a silver chakram as the medallion on the end. "That's the Bond of Flame." Yui explained, seeing the keychain, It is really strong, balanced, and enhances fire-based magic."
She looked to the three magic orbs around Leafa. "Those three are all Fire Elements." Yui added. One by one, the orbs dove into Leafa's body, giving her strength. "Woah." Kirito gasped. "Now you are able to use Firaga." Yui told her. Leafa looked at her hands, then curled them up as she stood up. "Axel sacrificed himself to give us a chance." She said in a serious tone, "I won't let his death be in vain. Now I know where Kairi is, I'm gonna go on ahead and find her." She dashed on ahead straight into the portal, leaving everyone else behind.
"Leafa…" Sora mumbled, seeing her go. He lifted himself up, and replaced the keychain on his Keyblade with the new one. It became red, looking like parts of Axel's chakrams on them. Sora closed his eyes, feeling the connection Axel had with Roxas within the Keyblade, then looked to the portal in front of them. "So I guess this leads to…" Asuna started, but everyone knew the answer, so she didn't have to finish. "Aw, come on! Let's get going!" declared Donald. Kirito and Asuna got up right next to Sora, and the team walked into the portal.
Chapter 4: Battle Within the Hearts
The group walked out of the portal, and found themselves in a dark alley. They looked around, wondering where they were when Mickey, who suddenly joined the group, walked right past them. "Where'd you come from?" Asuna asked. Mickey didn't respond, but walked towards the corner of the street, and turned to where light seemed to be coming from. He was looking up at something. Suspicious, the others gathered to his side, and saw what he was looking at. The city they were in was full of skyscrapers. They were black, with neon signs hanging on them. Behind the city was the floating castle in the sky they saw before entering the world of Twilight Town. Behind that was a large yellow heart with a blue outline, glowing like the moon upon the night sky.
"What is this place?" Kirito asked. Yui closed her eyes, running through her memory. "From what I could remember on the computer, this place was highly mysterious to Ansem. He calls it 'The World That Never Was'." "The World…That Never Was?" echoed Sora. He looked to his friends, who all shook their heads, unsure of what the story behind that was. "And I suppose that castle up there is where we are heading to." Kirito assumed. "That's right." Mickey replied, "That is Organization XIII's stronghold. It is where Ansem the Wise and everyone else we know are at."
Sora looked down at Mickey right next to him. "Axel said Kairi's in the dungeon." he told him, "And Leafa went on ahead to find her." Kirito looked in the streets, and checked above him. Leafa was nowhere to be seen. "Then we better find a way to get to that castle!" Mickey told the group. They nodded as one, and Mickey charged on ahead. Sora, Kirito and Asuna led the group into the winding streets after him.
The moment they entered the dark streets, Shadow Heartless started popping out of the ground, intruding their path. The team went to work, destroying them as they came. The Heartless seemed to come by the dozens, swarming them like gnats, only they were easier to swat at. "Do you think these Heartless are native to this place?" Asuna asked the boys, taking out two Shadows. "Probably…" Kirito replied, slamming his Keyblade down onto a helpless Shadow, "Either that, or this is some sick joke of a welcome from the Organization." "Either way, we need to get through this." Sora told them, "If this is an attack from the Organization, they still want us to collect more hearts for them." Sora glared up at the glowing heart in the sky. Hope they didn't complete it fully for them. he thought to himself.
They continued through the streets, slashing at every Heartless that came their way. Finally, the heroes reached an open area, where the only thing that stuck out was a large skyscraper, which glowed amongst the other buildings. Not only that, it started to rain on top of them. The sound of thunder drew their attention to the sky. Lightning started crackling the sky off in the distance, lighting up the glowing heart even more. Sora, Kirito and Asuna took a few more steps forward, then they heard the sound of swords unsheathing, followed by Donald crying out their names. The trio turned and saw two Samurai Nobodies, their swords crossing in front of Donald and Goofy. "Donald! Goofy!" Sora shouted, and the trio rushed to their aid.
Just as they got close, the atmosphere changed, drawing the trio's attention. They detected something, and turned to see what it was. From Sora's point of view, a black portal opened, and a figure with the Organization's clothing suddenly appeared before him, walking forward and stopping as the portal closed behind him. He suddenly produced the Oblivion Keyblade into his hand. "A Keyblade?!" Sora gasped.
From Asuna's point of view, the sound of metal moving drew her attention. She turned to see a tall figure dressed fully in armor. From the figure's appearance, Asuna guessed it was a female. Her armor was colored in silver, black, grey and blue, with a black visor on the helmet. Asuna wondered who it was until she produced a Keyblade, Stormfall, to her side. "You can wield the Keyblade?" Asuna asked, surprised.
From Kirito's point of view, a dark presence drew his attention, and he turned and saw something that shocked him. The character that came before him looked a lot like him, but from a year back, when he was still in SAO. However, his face looked somewhat different, especially the eyes, which were now black with white pupils. "Who are you?!" Kirito demanded as the dark figure reached back, and pulled out the Elucidator and Dark Repulser swords on his back.
Sora, Kirito and Asuna all produced their Keyblades as they faced, at each of their views, the single individual. Their opponent attempted to strike them, but they blocked the attack. As they struggled to hold off the attack, the atmosphere changed, then their was a bright light. Suddenly, out of each of their views, each duo found themselves on the shining platforms that they been before during the Dive into the Heart, the Station of Awakening.
Sora's platform was a shade of light blue, with his younger version of himself, sleeping on the right side of the platform. Next to him was four faces; Riku, Kairi, Donald and Goofy. Underneath was a picture of the seashore of Destiny Islands. Kirito's platform was dark grey, with his own picture of himself in his SAO garments, sleeping on the left side of the platform. Next to him were the faces of Asuna, Yui, Suguha, and Kayaba. Underneath him was a small partial picture of Aincrad silhouetted in the sky. Asuna's platform was hazel, and her own image in SAO garments was asleep down the middle of the platform, her hair flowing out. The pictures of Kirito, Yui, Sora, and someone she didn't know, surrounded her. Underneath was a picture of a clear sky with white doves and a couple clouds in the air, and the ocean reaching out beyond the sight, with the rising sun coming up.
Sora looked around, noticing where he was, and noticing the others weren't with him. All who was there was the mysterious Keyblade wielder in the black coat, only now he was carrying both Oblivion and Oathkeeper. Asuna let her guard down, looking around. "Kirito! Sora!" she shouted, but with no reply. Kirito's eyes darted from side to side as he held his position. Looks like I'm on my own right now. he thought to himself. "That's right. This is how you prefer it, isn't it?" the shadow Kirito said to him, drawing his attention, "No obstacles, no sacrifices, just you and the darkness." "Shut up!" shouted Kirito, and he charged at his opponent.
Sora:
Sora was dealing with his dual-Keyblade opponent against him. He just guarded against a Whirlwind swing from the hooded opponent, and Sora charged in, clashing Keyblades. Sora mustered some strength to knock the Keyblades aside, and started striking him like crazy, knocking him around in the air. He recovered and did a mid-air roll, slamming Sora into the ground. Sora landed onto his back, then flipped himself up again. "Wh-who are you?!" Sora demanded, nearly getting struck again by the cloaked figure. "Someone from the dark." he responded, and he shoved Sora back and charged at him again.
Asuna:
Asuna and the armored figure leapt up and crossed blades, skidding as they landed and turning to each other. Asuna fired a Blizzaga, and her opponent did the same. The two ice attacks struck each other and vanished. Asuna dashed at her opponent swiftly. She jabbed with her Keyblade, but despite the armor, the woman made a cartwheel and dodged Asuna's attack. Asuna was so surprised at the person's agility, that she failed to notice her opponent come around with a spinning slash. She got struck and rolled away from her. She managed to get to her feet in mid-roll, skidding to a halt.
"What is with you?" she demanded as the figured walked towards her. "I'm someone you should know." the person responded. "I should know?" Asuna echoed in a confused manner. The armored figure stopped walking, paused, then sighed. "It seems like you forgot me." she sighed, "Then again, I suppose that's to be expected." She then pointed her Keyblade at Asuna, and a ball of light started to form. Asuna prepared herself for whatever was coming. The armored figure started to shoot fast pace bubbles at her, one after another. The attack hit Asuna, then their was an explosion, followed by her scream.
Kirito:
Kirito turned and looked from behind, swearing he heard Asuna's anguish cry. "Asuna!" Kirito shouted. "Don't turn you back to your opponent!" warned his shadow, and Kirito turned to see his opponent strike at him, and Kirito got hit hard. He tumbled towards the edge of the platform. He almost went over, but Kirito stuck his Keyblade into the edge. He stopped himself, but he was dangling dangerously over the edge of the platform, with nothing but darkness beneath him. Kirito got his footing on the side of the platform and flipped himself back on top again.
The shadow and Kirito started slashing rapidly at each other. Seeing how his shadow was using his dual wielding skill onto him, Kirito had to rely on the skills he was given from this adventure. He unleashed his Explosion, sending his shadow aways from him. He instantly recovered, and the two sides performed a 'Sonic Leap' Sword Skill. They crossed paths, and landed on the ground. Kirito grasped his sword shoulder, having been struck there. He saw the oncoming shadow, who was charging his sword for a 'Vorpal Strike' Sword Skill. Kirito charged his own Keyblade, and unleashed his 'Rage Spike' Sword Skill. The two crossed each other, and skidded to a halt, looking at one another.
"See what happens when you deal with friends?" the shadow asked, "They end up distracting you." "You're wrong!" Kirito shouted back, "Even if they aren't strong like me, that doesn't mean I should abandon them!" "Then tell me; what benefits do you have for being with them?" Kirito snarled, then charged at his shadow. The two clashed blades, striking at each other at great speeds. Kirito unleashed a Firaga, and his shadow jumped high to avoid the flames, seeing the platform down below.
Sora:
Sora and the cloaked Keyblade wielder continued to clash with one another. The figure was well skilled, and kept darting around the platform, striking every chance he saw. Sora kept blocking and retaliating at the person, striking at him hard. The two dashed into the center, and their Keyblades connected with each other. After a struggle, the two backed away from each other, standing on opposite ends of the platform.
"You can't be Riku?" Sora asked the cloaked figure. "Riku?" questioned the figure, "…I defeated a Riku once." "You what?!" Sora growled. The two presumed their fight. They charged at each other, and it seemed time seemed to slow down as they drew in close to each other. The two were about to strike, but Sora was much faster. He knocked the figure up high, and called upon his Keyblades. The Oblivion and Oathkeeper came to him, and he charged at the figure as he fell. He used the three Keyblades to unleash a devastating combo onto the cloaked figure.
The figure then produced pillars of light around them, sending them at Sora, who rolled out of the way. Sora then spun around and tried striking him, but ended up getting hit by the beams. Sora had no choice but to back away, avoiding the lights and waiting for his opportunity to strike at the figure. The pillars of light came at him in several varieties, all of them trying to attack Sora. After a while of dodging, a beam of light hit him, and the cloaked figure came from behind Sora and took his Keyblades back. He leapt away from Sora, and the two faced one another.
"Tell me…" the cloaked figure asked, "Tell me why he picked you!" He came at Sora, his Keyblades grinding the floor. The two continued to spar against each other, moving around the stage. Finally, Sora was up in the air, and the figure leap after him. They met in the air and struck each other. Sora was sent to the ground, where he landed on his feet, leaving the cloaked figure in the air, looking down.
Asuna:
The armored figure waited, watching the smoke that came from her attack. Suddenly, a burst of energy came at her, knocking her away. She skidded to a halt and looked up to see Asuna standing there, releasing the recoil damage from her Reflega spell. "Is that all you got?" Asuna asked, and she made a lightning quick movement at her, sneaking around behind her. She performed 'Linear' Rapier Skill, back-slashing the armored figure. She was knocked back, but recovered, turned to Asuna, and fired a triple Blizzaga. Asuna slashed each attack, but this gave the figure time to reach her. Their two Keyblades met, and they went into a swift duel, both sides struck so fast, that their blades were unrecognizable. They were dashing throughout the stage, crossing paths and striking at each other whenever they were given a chance.
The armored figure also kept using magic, mainly water and ice element attacks. Asuna retaliated with some magic of her own, using everything she had to counter her attacks. Asuna used Firaga to block an incoming barrage of ice attacks, then turned around with a Thundaga onto the armored figure, who countered with Reflega. Asuna took a drink of Ether, and produced Magnera. The attack seem to slightly attract the opponent. However, instead of fighting it, the figure charged at it, using the momentum in attempts to slash Asuna. Asuna leapt over and produced Blizzaga, hitting her opponent on the head with it, and making her flinch.
The two turned to one another, Asuna on one knee, ready to kick herself at her opponent, who stood there. Finally, the helmet turned to one side and looked down. "I wish you could've stayed." she said, making Asuna confused, "Why…why did you have to leave? I want to know the truth!" Asuna seemed so confused. "What are talking you talking about?!" Asuna shouted, and she leapt high into the air. The armored figure followed her leap. The two got to a level, and performed a secondary jump in mid-air, leaping higher. They looked down and saw the stage beneath them, of Asuna sleeping picture, and of the four figures that surrounded her. Kirito, Yui and Sora were together on one side, while the mysterious character was alone on the other end.
It was then that all three opponents said the exact same thing: "I see. That's why."
Chapter 6: Awakened Realization
Sora:
The cloaked figure landed onto his feet again, and teleported twice around Sora, sending his Keyblades at him in a Strike Raid. Sora rolled away from them. The figure then came close to Sora, and unleashed a flurry of slash at Sora, who countered every blow. Finally, he formed a sphere of energy around himself, drawing Sora in, and striking at him, knocking Sora back. Sora tumbled backwards, but he managed to land on his feet again. Sora then pushed himself towards the opponent, who tried shooting pillars of light at him. Sora barreled right between them, and unleashed a barrage of strikes that were too quick for the cloaked figure to put up a barrier in time for. Sora jumped back as the opponent jumped to his feet again and teleported into the center of the stage.
"Magic…Hour!" shouted the figure, and he produced a barrier of light pillars around as he charged up. Suddenly, he shot spear of light around the exterior of the stage, and the area changed into the sunset cloudy atmosphere for which appeared whenever Sora, Kirito and Asuna unlocked a keyhole. "Come on!" the figure cried as he twirled his Keyblades and summoned a pair of light orbs. He then started shooting homing energy projectiles at Sora, who started to quickly dart around the stage, trying his best not to be hit by them.
After ten seconds of an endless barrage, the firing ceased, and the Limit Break was over. Sora grimaced as he grazed by the last one, but he shook it off and charged at his opponent. The two clashed again, then the figure flipped back, and tried to strike Sora with a barrage of slashes. Sora back-shuffled, then put up his Keyblade as a barrier as his opponent kept coming down on him with his Keyblade repeatedly.
After several strikes, Sora's knee gave way, and the figure knocked Sora's Bond of Flame aside. Sora got to his feet and attempted to grab it, but the figure got there first, pinning Sora's Keyblade with one of his own, and pointing the other at Sora's face. Sora was too far away from his Keyblade, and he grimaced at the situation. He curled his fist, then reached out to his Keyblade, calling it to him. Sora's Keyblade disappeared from the spot, and the cloaked figure witnessed it. "What?!" he gasped. The Bond of Flame came back into Sora's hand, quickly got to his feet, and made a downward slash at the figure.
There was a moment where nothing moved. The only thing that could be heard was Sora's breathing. Suddenly, the cloaked figure dropped both of his Keyblades, which disappeared in a sparkling of light. He started to casually walk past Sora, but then stumbled as he passed him, and his hood came off…
Kirito:
The two kept clashing Keyblade with swords, striking one after another. Kirito barely avoided the shadow's 'Double Circular' Sword Skill. Kirito kept his distance as he used Thundaga, shocking his opponent. Kirito stood there, bringing his Keyblade down to a level as he watched his opponent. "You…cannot defeat me." he groaned as he recovered from the attack. "It's not you who I'm defeating." Kirito told him, and the shadow raised his head, "I am…fighting myself!"
Kirito charged at his opponent, and unleashed his 'Horizontal Square' Sword Skill. The shadow attempted to stop him, but he completed the four-hit combo, and it's impact unleashed. The shadow doubled over, grimacing in pain, but tried twirling around and slashing Kirito, who doubled back to avoid it. The shadow straightened himself up and pursued him. The two engaged in a lightning fast, back to back duel with one another. Kirito, although one sword short to duel wielding, was able to fend off all of his shadow's attacks. Not to mention that he kept reminding himself that he had also magic on his side, which was giving him the upperhand. The one thing his shadow lacked was long range skills, and Kirito was using that to his advantage.
After a while, he and the shadow stood on opposite ends, and it looked like the shadow was certainly taking a beating from Kirito, who was poised and ready. "Damn you…" his shadow spat, then he cried, "Full…Eclipse!" Kirito was surprised, since he thought he mistaken it for the Dual-Wield Sword Skill 'The Eclipse'. However, it was an attack he didn't fully know.
Out of nowhere, a moon appeared above them, but it became over-shadowed to become an eclipse. The shadow floated into the air, his swords to either side, being hit by the eclipse's rays. Suddenly, the swords grew to double their length, and became brighter. The shadow landed onto the ground and charged at the startled Kirito. He then started to swing his swords with fury in his eyes, and Kirito did his best to parry the attacks, but the attack strength increased. Kirito was barely hanging on as the onslaught continued at him. The shadow then dove back in the center of the stage and slammed his swords tip first into the ground. Suddenly, a burst of circular light dispersed around him like a shockwave, and the light shot up high, too high to jump over. Kirito saw it coming, and he knew blocking with his Keyblade was not gonna cut it. "Reflega!" Kirito shouted, and he produced his barrier, shielding him from the powerful impact. The eclipse passed, and the Limit Break ceased.
When he came to, Kirito was still standing, breathing heavily. This wasn't as tough as his battle with Sephiroth, but it still pushed him to his limit. The shadow charged at Kirito again, roaring in fury. Kirito mimicked his movement, and the two clashed. They struggled to push the other back. The shadow gained the upper hand, and he shoved Kirito's Keyblade upward and jabbed both swords at Kirito. Kirito's quick reaction thankfully saved, bringing his Keyblade down to guard against the attack. The impact send him skidding backwards, nearing the edge of the stage.
He came to a halt and fell to one knee, he saw his shadow coming at him. Kirito did the first thing that came to his mind, the one move he was taught by Sora. He unleashed, what he preferred to call it, the Keyblade Skill 'Strike Raid'. He threw his Keyblade, which spun like a chainsaw as it hurled itself towards his shadow, who attempted to block it. The swords and Keyblade connected, and suddenly, their was a bright light, and the Keyblade went right through the shadow and rounded itself back to Kirito again, who caught it. There was a pause as Kirito got to his feet again. Suddenly, both of the shadow's swords broke, and disappeared into data. The shadow started to stumble backwards, then collapsed onto his butt. Kirito saw his shadow, who's head was lowered to hide his eyes…
Asuna:
Asuna and the armored woman landed simultaneously onto the ground. Asuna bounded to her opponent, and the two Keyblades clashed with one another. Asuna unleashed her 'Flash Penetrator' Rapier Skill, and the blinding, repetitive jabs were too fast for the armored figure to block. She flew back, but went into a cartwheel to absorb the impact. Asuna stood there, breathing heavily as she saw the figure straighten herself. "Look, I don't know what you know about me, but I have no absolute idea as to who you are!" she told her off. "I know…" the armored figure, "But someday, you will remember." Asuna was now even more confused and annoyed than before.
The armored figure then unleashed a barrage of bubble at Asuna, who darted around at a fast pace to avoid them all. She jumped in mid air, spun around, and jabbed at an incoming bubble, destroying it, but being flung away from the recoil. She landed onto her feet and unleashed a double Blizzaga attack onto the armored opponent, but she cartwheeled out of the way again. Asuna made a Quick Run to get in close, and attempted to hit her with Firaga. The attack made contact with the armored figure, and she was tossed backwards.
Suddenly, she vanished and appeared in the center of the stage, right behind Asuna. Asuna quickly turned and noticed she was being target by her. "Shiny…Bloom!" the armored figure cried, and she started to twirl like a ballerina on the spot. At the same time, a barrier surrounded her, preventing Asuna to come close. She was also firing orbs of white light, which homed in on Asuna's position. Asuna started to move rapidly around, swinging at any orbs that came close. All the while, the armored figure started spinning in more elaborate positions, even going so far as to having one of her legs behind her head. Finally, the attack stopped, and so did her spinning.
Asuna was holding herself up by putting one hand on her knee, while using her Keyblade as well. She was tired from running and avoiding the attack. She turned just in time to see her opponent come upon her, and she barely blocked the attack. She pushed the armored figure back, and stood up straight again. She and her opponent resumed the fight, clashing each other with fast slashes with the Keyblade. Asuna was wearing down, and she didn't know how long she was gonna last in this situation.
After a minute of rapid fire strikes, a struggle match made Asuna's Keyblade get tossed high into the air, and land right behind her, tip pointed into the ground. She turned to where it land, and turned back to the armored figure. She slowly backed away, about to make a dash for her Keyblade, but the figure slammed her Keyblade to the ground, producing a pillar of ice that encased Asuna. Her gasp was the last thing that was to be heard before she was frozen solid. The armored figure looked at the shock expression on Asuna's face as she was stuck in the ice, and turned away.
She took a couple steps before she detecting a glowing light from the ice. She turned to see Asuna's body starting to glow a white light, and the pillar of ice started to crack. Light energy seeped out of the cracks until finally the ice pillar exploded in a mist of ice. "Incredible!" the armored figure gasped, seeing the mist of ice in front of her, but Asuna's body was not recognizable. Then out of the mist, Asuna charged at the armored figure, unleashing her 'Shooting Star' Rapier Skill with her Keyblade back in hand. She penetrated right through her, and landed right behind her.
There was a moment's pause, then the figure dropped her Keyblade, which vanished from sight. She then collapsed to her knees, and Asuna could hear the sound of something cracking. The helmet of the figure was breaking, then it shattered into pieces…
Sora:
Sora looked back as the cloaked figure doubled over, his face was finally revealed. A boy, the same age as Sora, with blond hair that was spiky in front, smooth in the back. His back was turned to Sora, and he couldn't see his face. He glared at him as the figure opened his eyes, revealing them to be as blue as Sora's. He turned to Sora as a swirling light started to shine around them. "You make a good other." Roxas acknowledged Sora, then they vanished.
Kirito:
Kirito walked forward and looked down at his shadow self, who looked up at him. His eyes were no longer dark, but the same as Kirito's eyes. His face softened, and he smirked. "It looks like you're able to handle the past on your own." he said to Kirito. Kirito shook his head at this. "No…" he denied, "I'm able to do it with all my friends." Kirito looked up to the four pictures that were next to his sleeping figure on the stage. The image of Akihiko Kayaba suddenly lit up, and in its' place became Sora's face. The shadow snorted at this as the light surrounded the place. "Yeah… Your friends are always on your side." he agreed, and everything was swallowed in light.
Asuna:
Asuna turned her full body to the person, her face now revealed from the shattered helmet. She had short blue hair, which fell to her neck. She turned to Asuna, revealing her blue eyes to her. Her face made her look like she was somewhat older than Asuna, despite the fact that they were the same age. They stared at one another for a few seconds. Asuna couldn't help but notice that it looked exactly like the face she didn't recognize on the stage. It was familiar, but she couldn't figure out why, or where. Finally, the woman smiled at her. "I hope my memories awaken for you." said Aqua, as lights swirled around them, and everything disappeared.
When they came to, the trio found themselves standing in front of the giant skyscraper they were at before. They were staring into space, the last words echoing in their ears. "You make a good other." Sora mumbled to himself staring at nothing really. "Your friends are always on your side." Kirito quoted, looking to one side, thinking on the worlds. Asuna's face was looking upwards, and a couple tears fell down her face. "I hope…my memories awaken for you." she repeated, smiling slightly.
Each of them finally noticed that the other two are there. They looked at one another, realizing their presence. Donald, Goofy and Yui came from behind them. "Are you okay?" Donald asked. "What…just happened?" Sora asked, looking to Kirito and Asuna, who both shrugged. "Gawrsh, I dunno." Goofy replied, "You three just disappeared. Then me, Donald and Yui had fight some Nobodies." "I see." Kirito understood.
"Mama, are you crying?" Yui asked, floating next to Asuna and seeing her face. Asuna realized what she was doing, and she wiped the tears from her face. "I'm fine." she told her, "I just…feel like I forgot someone. Someone very important to me." "Who?" Kirito asked her. Asuna shook her head. "I don't know." she replied, "But…it's like she was someone I could've been close to." Kirito and Yui looked at her with a puzzled expression. "Are you sure you're ok?" Yui asked, "You're not making any sense." "I know I'm not." Asuna replied, "But…one thing still echoes in my mind. Her name…her name was…Aqua." Kirito and Yui looked to one another. Whatever ordeal Asuna was apart of, it impacted her in a strange way.
"What about you, Sora?" Kirito asked, "Are you doing ok?" "Yeah." Sora replied softly, still looking straight again, "He said…he defeated Riku…" "Who said that?" Kirito asked. "That guy. In the black coat." Sora answered, turning to the group. "But nobody could defeat Riku." Donald told him. "Y…Yeah, you're right." Sora agreed. "The black coat means Organization XIII." Goofy pointed out, "He musta been tryin' to trick ya." "Yeah, that must be why we didn't see him!" Donald agreed.
"Did…you guys see anyone confront us?" Asuna asked, "A woman in armor perhaps?" "Or someone that looked like me?" Kirito asked them. Donald, Goofy and Yui shook their heads at them. "What do you mean 'someone who looked like you'?" Sora echoed, hearing Kirito's question. "Someone…who I have been trying to conquer for a long time." Kirito answered. Kirito turned to the others, confused. They didn't notice? Come to think of it, he didn't see the woman in armor that confronted Asuna, nor the guy in the black coat Sora saw. What was going on with them?
"You three must be tired." Donald assumed. "I don't know what's going on with you guys, but now's not the time to get confused." Yui told them. "C'mon, let's just find a way to get into that castle!" Goofy proclaimed. The three started to walk off, and Sora, Kirito and Asuna followed. The sound of rumbling thunder made the trio stop and look up, wondering.
Suddenly, a few objects fell from the sky; a Keyblade Keychain, and three Drive orbs. The keychain was white, spiky, and the token was a white thorn X. It had a sort of Nobody flare to it. "That's Two Become One." Yui explained, "It is strong, and its' ability is quite unusual to me…I can't really explain it well. I can say it is connected to these orbs."
The three orbs that fell to each of the trio were white with black points. The symbol on it was a black eye with a wind pattern. The trio took the orbs, and suddenly their clothing reacted and exploded with energy. Suddenly, the trio found themselves in a new Drive Form, one that seemed more powerful than any of the other Drive Forms. Their color coordination was mostly white, with silver and black colors added. Their Keyblade were no longer on them, but now floated behind their backs, and just like Valor and Master Form, there were two of them. Sora's secondary Keyblade became his Kingdom Key. Kirito's was his Sleeping Lion. Asuna's Keyblade became Brightcrest. Kirito and Asuna both sprouted white fairy wings along with them. All three of them were hovering off the ground.
"Woah!" gasped Donald and Goofy as one. "Wha-what is this?" Kirito asked, feeling the new form, "I feel a lot of power in this." "That's your Final Form." Yui explained, "It is proof you have made it to your full potential. They provide you the ability to glide around in the air." Asuna jumped into the air and used her wings to maintain her position. "This is incredible." she said, feeling the power. Sora started mentally swinging his Keyblades around. "They Keyblades are reacting to thought." he noticed, "That's pretty handy."
The trio got together again and reverted back to normal. "A perfect power for us to use against Organization XIII." Sora stated, turning to the other two, who nodded in agreement. They looked towards the floating castle in the sky, silhouetted by the glowing heart behind it. "Let's finish this." Kirito stated, and with that, the six marched forward, going towards the place where their final battle would take.
Oh, man! What a brain-busting story. I mean, new powers, magic for Leafa, and Keyblades for Sora. And I'm sure there are plenty of questions that people will be asking, especially the one about the mysterious connection between Asuna and Aqua. Well, to answer that, I will say wait for the sequel for that question to be answered. I'm sure you will be shocked as to what the answer is, and there are no spoil alerts for this!
