So many questions.
What was he? Why was he what he was? What had happened?
So little answers.
He looked at his hands, if you could still call them hands. They had turned into single blades. He had a serpent like body and a forked tongue. He never used to be like this… yes, it was coming back to him. He used to be a human. He had died and turned into a fiend. He had been… executed for a crime he did not commit.
It was so unfair! He was here, turned into a Kukulcan while the real murderer was still running around somewhere! He slithered over to a lake, taking in his appearance. He had had a tranquil life in Bevelle, never having to deal with fiends. He looked absolutely hideous. His scales were orange-ish and sandy of color, he had a tiny head, two blade-like claws and four feet with a very tall tail. A red oval stone-like gem was sitting on top of his forehead. On his head he had the hood like a cobra, on his tail he had spikes.
He had never looked like this…. He was short, but not too short. Spiked hair, reaching up in the colors red, black and yellow. His build wasn't too bad, he was slim but still quite muscled. He had slight tanned skin and slanted red eyes. That was something he had retained. He gazed into the water, the small red eyes staring right back at him.
He had been a bookworm when he was still alive. A Kukulcan was a basilisk, able to turn his enemies into stone. Just perfect, he would find the real murderer and turn them into stone them crush them. He had turned into a fiend because he wanted his vengeance. He would kill the murderer and go to the Farplane.
But… where to begin?
He remembered… the scent of moonlillies. The real murderer placed moonlillies where he died. Maybe it was because of guilt? He did not have to travel too far, he was already at Macalania Woods. The Bevelle guards had taken him into the beautiful woods and killed him there, where no one could see.
The fiend slumped, finding a nice place for a stakeout. A year had passed since his passing and the murderer should be here soon to place flowers…. He hoped.
More days passed and the Kukulcan was losing hope. Why would the murderer visit him anyways? They probably moved on with their lives and forgotten about him. One more day he would stay and then go on with his new life as a basilisk.
The serpent-like creature slumped, giving up on the stakeout. They were not coming back. He turned around, his tail following with a swish, when suddenly, the scent of moonlillies filled his nostrils. He quickly turned around and readied himself to pounce… until he saw exactly who the murderer was.
It had been his own lover….
Yuugi.
The short spiky haired male kneeled down and placed the bunch of flowers on the spot he had been executed at. A couple tears slid down the plump cheeks of the young man as he whispered his name.
"Yami…." Yuugi started sobbing and collapsed to the ground.
That's right… Yuugi had been the murderer…. Everything was coming back to him. He was in debt and the debt collectors were going to kill him… till Yuugi stabbed them in the back, coming home from work. To protect Yuugi, he took the blame. How could he have forgotten that?
The Kukulcan slumped, watching as Yuugi recollected himself and sat at the spot, staring out in front of him, telling the make-shift grave of things that had happened in Spira. Yami stayed where he was on the ground and listened to the beautiful voice of his lover.
He didn't regret it. He never regretted giving his life for Yuugi. Yuugi still loved him. With a smile, his body started fading, turning into pyreflies. He had no more reason for being a fiend. There was no need to take vengeance in the first place. He would just go on ahead to the Farplane and wait for Yuugi, so they could finally be together again.
-glossary-
Kukulcan: Is a fiend in FFX-2, google to get a clearer image of it. Also an Aztec god or something.
Bevelle: Is a town and the Capital of Spira.
Spira: The world of FFX-2.
Macalania Woods: Really pretty woods, you should google it.
Farplane: It's like the underworld, where dead people go. Living people can go there to see their memories of the dead… or something like that, it's never too clear what Farplane actually is.
Pyrefly: They are like the souls of living things. When killing a fiend, it dissolves into pyreflies. Farplane is full of pyreflies.
Moonlillies: Most beautiful flowers in Spira.
Author's Note: Gotta be honest, not completely my own idea. This was a fiend tale from the new function of the HD remaster of FFX-2. You can catch the monsters and unlock their tales. There it tells how they died, why they died etc. This was the fiend tale of Kukulcan and it was just so sad ;A;
I made some twists here and there so it does not exactly follow that story.
Also on a different note, my midterms have started so I won't be able to write anything for two weeks. I had this one prepared and uploaded it a tad earlier than I actually wanted, as a small apology. I have been stuck on Sharing is Caring anyways so I hope that I will have my inspiration back after the exams. I also want to work on a timeline first since I have been doing this one kinda freestyle with the ideas in mind.
Long story short, it may take a while before I post anything new.
