Hey guys! I think you will be happy about this because this is not the last chapter. It's the second to last. Even though in the last chapter I said I wasn't going to update tonight I decided to anyways. I hope you enjoy it!
"What!" I shriek moving forward and hitting Dylan on the shoulder repeatedly. "How could you do that?! Do you know what you've done?! Do you know what's going to happen now?!"
"I know it was a mistake." Dylan says grabbing my wrists and holding me back. "I regretted it the second I did it." I am breathing heavily and I stop struggling. Dylan slowly releases his grip on me. What a mistake he realized that was. I start hitting him again only harder this time.
"Would you stop that!" Dylan says trying to keep me back. I don't have time to answer for Fang wraps his arms around me from behind making my own immobile.
"Aren't you mad?" I ask craning my neck to look at Fang.
"Of course I am." Fang says glancing up at Dylan for only a second. "But I think you gave him enough of a beating for the both of us." I roll my eyes irritated.
"How did you find out?" Fang asks sounding mad, but not as mad as me.
"You know that time I told you I saw someone go into the tree house, but I could not see who it was?" Dylan asks looking directly at me. "Well, it was a lie. I saw it was Fang."
"Then why did you tell me you didn't see his face?" I ask my voice a little calmer than before.
"I was giving you a chance to tell me what was really going on. When I knew you were lying to me, I knew something had to be done."
"Well, what's done is done. Now we just have to figure out how to get out of it." We are all silent for a minute like we are thinking about what to do. For all I know, Fang and Dylan probably are. All I can think about is how much I want to kill Dylan right now. I can hear police sirens. They are far away right now, but it is only a matter of time before they come here.
"We've got to go." I say. "It's a small town. It won't take long until they are here." Fang nods.
"I'm coming too." Dylan announces.
"No-"
"Fine-" Fang and I say in unison. Guess who said what. I glare at Fang.
"We don't have time for arguments here." Fang says as the sirens grow louder. I sigh.
"Fine. . . And you can let go." I say telling Fang who still has his arms around me. He seems reluctant, but he let's go.
"Where do we go now?" Dylan asks.
"We walk along side the road, but far enough into the woods where we can't be seen by people in cars." Fang says.
"How do you know that?" I ask looking at him.
"How do you think I walked from Utah to Arizona without getting seen?"
"Wait, what?" Dylan asks obviously just hearing about this part now.
"Come on, lets go." Fang says ignoring Dylan.
Fang, Dylan and I walked along the road for about thirty minutes. We all knew exactly where we were going, but we just never said it out loud. We were going to Robin Peak. We got to the base of the trail in about an hour.
"So this is where you are going to be staying from now on?" I ask Fang.
"It will be fine for the night, but I can't stay here permanently. I can't go to school in Wilhoit anymore."
"So where are you going to go?" I ask suddenly worried.
"Probably some small town far away from here." He must see the look on my face because he takes my hand.
"We'll talk about it tomorrow." I nod and we start walking up the rocky incline.
"WHAT?! Were going up?" Fang turns around to look at Dylan.
"You don't have to if you don't want to."
"But we just- we walked- oh fine I'm coming." Dylan whines. He is just about to start walking when we here a police siren way to close for comfort. There is a road about a 1/4 mile from here. We wait for it to go by like all the other ones have, but it doesn't. We hear it screech to a halt along with many others behind it. We hear voices and running footsteps getting closer and closer.
"GO!" I say in a panicked, but hushed at the same time voice. The three of us start running up the slop. We don't stop but we can here the police getting closer and closer. Even though we are all in fairly good shape, there is no way we can run out however many cops there are behind us. They can't be more than a hundred feet behind us, but the frequent turns keep us out of sight . . . For now. We pass a sign that says 1/2 MILE TO SUMMIT.
"What do we do when we get to the top?" Dylan asks frantically.
"Anything." Fang says sounding obviously worried. I turn around just in time to see some cops turning the corner. We are only in sight for a few seconds when we turn. I can hear them yelling for us to stop, but everyone knows how well we listen. All three of us are about to collapse in exhaustion, but we keep moving. "Crap." Fang says out of breath. "The top." The three of us stop not knowing where to go.
"Do we hide?" I ask looking for any possible solution.
"To late." Fang says just as the cops reach the top. They stop and stand about 20 feet from us. There is probably about ten of them who are all heavily armed. Not that they would use them on runaway kids.
"Don't move." The one in front says. He takes a step forward and all three of us in unison take several back. We are forced to stop when we reach the edge. "Come away from the edge, kids." Says the same guy. "The ground is unstable, it could collapse under your weight." Him saying this reminds me of the day I got back. It was almost eight months ago. All three of us were standing in the tree house when it collapsed. I remember Fang telling me to jump. He said Dylan would catch me, and he did. Fang ended up going down with the shack, but ended up being fine. The cop takes another step forward, and that was close enough for me.
"Stop!" I shriek. The man stops abruptly and looks shocked by my sudden outburst. "Don't come any closer." I don't know what I am planning to say or do, but we have to do something. The man doesn't listen and continues to take a few more steps forward. "I said stop!" I yell again. More cops start slowly moving towards us. I look at Fang not knowing what to do. "Stop or I'll jump!" This gets their attention. They all stop, and I put my foot on the very edge of the cliff. Fang grabs my hand tightly.
"What are you doing?!" Fang asks quiet enough for only me to here.
"Winging it."
"Listen honey, just come away from the edge." The cop says.
"No, you listen." I reply fiercely. "You and your whole troop are going to turn around right now and walk away from this whole thing or I swear to God I will hurl myself off this damn mountain right now." Fang's grip on my hand has gotten so tight that I have lost all feeling in it whatsoever. The leader of the group puts his hands us in defeat and slowly backs away.
"Fine, have it your way." He says. But I don't fall for it. There's no way they're just going to let this go. They will be waiting for us at the bottom when we come down. At least this will buy us some time. I slowly take my foot away from the edge of the cliff. Suddenly the rocks surrounding us start to crumble. Before we have time to even think, a huge chunk of the mountain falls away . . . Taking Fang, Dylan, and I with it.
Hey guys! The last chapter of this story will be up next Saturday IF I get at least sixteen reviews by then. I know it's a lot, but I really want to get at least 350 reviews on this story before it ends. You have 1 week. Good luck!
