Chapter 36: We Go Together
Cassidy's POV:
I entered the garden off the side of the house and sat on a small stone bench trying my hardest not to cry but failing miserably. I don't really know why I'm crying. I just kind of am. After a couple of minutes I hear footsteps entering the garden. Assuming its Spencer I yell to him.
"Go away Spencer," I yell wiping my eyes. "I don't want to see you." I then see a familiar face pop around the corner and I give them a watery smile.
"Am I welcomed in these parts?" Sirius asked with a smile. I nodded and scooted over to allow him room to sit.
"You ok?" he asked. I nodded my head.
"Couldn't be better," I said trying to smile.
"Nice try," he said. "What's up?" I sighed and wiped my eyes once more before replying.
"Spencer thinks that since dad died he's taking his place by trying to protect me, but he's not doing a good job. He's trying to keep me away from what makes me happy. My dad would never do that," I tell him. "He thinks he's in charge of my life but he's not. I'm an adult, I can take care of myself."
"Did you try telling him that?" he asked.
"Of course I did," I exclaimed. "But he's Spencer he doesn't listen. Especially when it comes to you."
"Me?" he asked startled.
"Yes you," I cried. "He asked me where I saw myself in a few years and I said with you Sirius. I want to be with you, I've realized that and he can't handle it's what I want and it's what'll make me happy."
"Well like you said," he started, "he's not your keeper. You're the person who decides, not him." I nod my head and smile. We sit in silence for a little while longer before he speaks up again.
"Do you really see yourself with me in a few years?" he asked cautiously. I laughed and nodded.
"Yes Sirius," I told him. "Yes I do."
"Cassidy," he starts. "Will you-"
I didn't wait for him to finish before I connected my lips with his. The kiss was soft, sweet, and gentle. Just like Sirius. I pulled away smiling with my forehead on his. We both took the time to breath before I stood up to leave. Before I left his sight I turned and spoke to him.
"Yes," I answered.
"I'm sorry what?" he asked confused.
"You were about to ask me out weren't you?" I asked already knowing the answer. He nodded his head a sheepish smile playing upon his lips.
"Then my answer," I smiled. "is yes." I turned and left the garden happier than I have been in a while.
The wedding continued to go off without a hitch. I gave Sirius the dance he had won that morning and talked more calmly with Spencer. Around 10pm that night Alice and Frank had come from the house changed into more comfortable clothing saying good-bye to their guests and then apparating away to their honeymoon destination. We all apparated back to the Potter household and made our way to our separate rooms. Lily and Marlene said good night to their respective boyfriends and disappeared into my room giggling.
"Good night Miss. Clark," Sirius said kissing my hand once we were the only ones left in the hall.
"Good night Mr. Black," I teased giving a slight curtsy. I leaned up and kissed his lips subtly before disappearing into my room and shutting the door.
"Sooo…?" Lily and Marlene badgered. "What's the 411?"
"I don't kiss and tell," I winked and slipped into my bathroom. I smiled as I heard their squeals as I began to dress for bed.
The rest of break went along uneventful. We went to the ministry Easter egg hunt the Sunday before we were due back to Hogwarts. Sirius ended up stealing the golden egg from James and giving it to me. The day after we were on our way back to Hogwarts. The rest of March came and went and it was soon April.
It was a particularly warm Friday afternoon in April I found myself reading a book outside with Sirius keeping me company. I was leaning against the infamous Marauder tree and Sirius' head was resting on my jean clad legs.
"Can you believe we'll be graduating in less than 3 months," he mentioned.
"It's weird," I admitted. "But I'm kinda excited to get out of here. It's been too long."
"Admit it," he teased, "You'll miss it."
"Of course I'll miss it Sirius," I said putting my book down. "I've spent the past 7 years of my life here. Hogwarts has been my home for so long and now we're expected to just up and leave? It's sad yes, but much needed."
"Has Ellie done anything notably lately?" he asked. I shook my head. I was beginning to worry more and more. She hadn't done anything since she tried messing with Lily's head before the wedding.
"Don't worry love," he said touching a hand to my cheek. "I'm sure everything is going to be fine." I smiled and touched his hand that was on my cheek.
"I hope so," I said. He smiled and then sat up so he was upright next to me.
"Want to go play some quidditch?" he asked a mischievous smile on my face.
"Sirius I'm not even that good." I reminded him. "Why don't you ask James to play? I think that's him over on the field already." I pointed in the direction of the quidditch stadium where we could see a figure on a broom. It looked a lot like James.
"Alright," he said standing up. "But give yourself some credit. You make a pretty damn good chaser."
He held out his hand for me and I took it and hopped up. I laced my fingers through his as we walked down to the field. Suddenly the broom in the air started to go crazy. It was bucking and jerking all over the place. We both stopped in horror.
"What the hell," Sirius whispered. I looked around and I could faintly make out blond hair closer to the castle moving her mouth and keeping her eyes on the quidditch field at all times.
"Ellie," I growled.
"We have to get him down from there," Sirius said. I turned back to look at James and the next thing I know is that he's falling.
"James!" I shriek. Sirius and I begin running towards the quidditch field. We make it to the field and we go in through the gates and we see James laying on the ground with Lily by his side.
"Oh my god," I screamed running to his side. "Is he breathing?"
"Yeah," Lily said through her tears. "He's breathing. I cast a spell before he could hit the ground to make sure he didn't hurt himself to bad. You have to help me get him back to the castle." Sirius nodded grabbed one of his arms and I helped with the other.
"No Cassidy you run to Madam Pomfrey and tell her we're coming," Sirius instructed. "You're faster than both of us so she'll maybe be able to meet us halfway."
"Ok," I said handing James off to Lily. I toed off my sandals and grabbed them into my hands and then sprinted off. I had to keep smacking my braid off my shoulder so it would stop smacking me in the face. Once I got into the castle. I slipped my sandals back on and ran as fast and carefully as I could so I could fall and hurt myself.
"JamesfelloffhisbroomandneedsyourhelpMadamPomfrey," I bellowed as I ran into the Hospital wing.
"Miss. Clark calm down," the matron said coming over and sitting me down. "Now say it again slower please."
"James was practicing quidditch stuff or showing off to Lily I don't really know which," I started rambling. "But anyways that's besides the point! Anyways he fell off and he needs your help!"
"Oh my," she said getting up and grabbing things. "Let's go." She grabbed a stretcher and we made our way down the hall. Once we got outside we made our way over to where Lily and Sirius were able to drag James. It looked like he was awake and talking.
"Oh heavens!" Madam Pomfrey exclaimed. "Let's get you treated Mr. Potter."
"What would I do without you Poppy," he laughed and then cringed holding his stomach.
"You must have broken a few ribs," she observed as she pushed the stretcher back towards the castle. Lily followed quickly behind her but Sirius and I went a bit slower.
"It was Ellie," I whispered to him "I'm positive. I looked around and saw her mouthing something around here. It must have been an incantation of some sort."
"Ok so if she can do wandless magic she's more of a threat than we thought," Sirius said. "Now we can't prove she's the one who did it because the wandless magic she does won't showed up if someone checks her wand."
"Damn it!" I hissed. "This isn't fair. She's going to win. She's going to take all of you out and I'm going to be stuck to face her by myself."
"That's not going to happen Cassidy," Sirius said facing me placing his hands on my shoulders.
"But what if it does," I said my voice cracking. "She's already taken out James. Who's to say you aren't next? Or Lily, or Remus, or Marlene? Or even my brother again. She won't stop until she gets what she wants!"
"Cassidy you need to relax ok? If you don't then it's game over, she wins," he calmly stated. "You need to pull yourself together alright?" I took a deep breath and nodded.
"Ok," I sighed. "I'm trying my best not to freak, but Sirius it's hard. She was scary enough with just a wand and now she doesn't even need it to hurt us? We're as good as dead anyways." I said beginning to cry. Sirius took me into his arms and cradled my head trying to calm me down.
"Shh love," he cooed. "It'll be ok, I promise we won't let her win."
I nodded and backed away."I'm good," I said adjusting my plain purple t-shirt and wiping my eyes. "I'm okay. Let's go see James."
"Okay," he said giving me a soft smile. "Let's go see James." He kissed the side of my head and took my hand leading my to the hospital wing.
Admit it...You guys love me! But you probably hate me at the same time. Ehh, I can live with it. I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I know you are all fangirling pretty hard at this point am I right? Have a great Monday!
SEQUEL INFORMATION:
This story is quickly coming to a close! Don't worry we still have a bunch more chapters and their will be a sequel. But they can only be at Hogwarts for so long. Keep a look out for a little sneak peak at the sequel coming soon! My plan is to have this done before school ends and then get at least 7-10 chapters done of the sequel before summer starts. The sequel won't be too long though because it won't start directly after Hogwarts and then it only goes up until that terrible Halloween night. But fear not my subjects. This is a trilogy. That's all I can say for now! Ta ta my lovely readers!
