It was silent. Galinda stared out the window at the places she hadn't seen in quite sometime and sighed. She missed home.
Boq broke the silence just after they had passed Red Sand. "Are you hungry, Glin?"
Galinda shook her head. "Not really."
Boq was concerned for her. She hadn't eaten in quite a while. It was almost midnight, and Boq was beginning to get a little tired. "How much further?" he asked.
"Just a few more hours. We just have to pass Settica and Wittica, and then we'll be in Frottica." She sighed once more before returning to her window staring.
"Won't your family be asleep by the time we get there?"
"There's a hotel near the house we can stay at. It's really nice." Galinda turned away from the window. She couldn't see anything with it being pitch black outside. Her stomach growled.
"I thought you said that you weren't hungry?" Boq joked.
"Well, I am, but I just don't have an appetite for anything right now."
"You need to eat something, Glin."
"I know."
When they reached Settica, they went in search for a fast food restaurant that would be open.
"McDonald's!" yelled Galinda.
Boq chuckled and pulled into the McDonald's parking lot. He parked the car, and they both went inside to order their food.
Galinda's mood changed instantly after eating. She seemed more awake. More lively.
They both got back into the car and back on to the road. They had about two hours to go before they would reach Frottica, but Galinda felt like she could stay up for a long time after.
"Are you feeling better?" Boq asked, keeping his eyes on the road.
"Much!" Galinda replied with a smile.
Boq smiled. "Good." He paused. "How much longer?"
"One and a half to two hours."
"Okay. Making sure." Boq yawned.
"Maybe we should stop driving for a while and find a hotel. You look exhausted."
"No." Boq said. "We're gonna make it to Frottica before the sun rises." He was more than determined.
"Boq." Galinda shook her head slowly. "You're just eager to meet my parents, aren't you?" she joked.
Boq laughed. "I just don't want to be in the car for the rest of the day."
"Yeah. That would be pretty tiring."
They finally passed Wittica after an hour. Galinda felt more exhausted than she did before she ate. She couldn't help but to let out a yawn.
"We'll be there soon... I hope."
Galinda sighed. "Me, too." She went back to her window staring, though she could see nothing but the stars. She fell asleep soon after.
Boq smiled at her and kept driving.
It wasn't long until they reached Frottica. Boq didn't quite know where he was going, but lucky for him, Galinda woke up.
"Where are we?" she asked tiredly.
"We're in Frottica." Boq smiled. "Which way now?"
Galinda sat up in her seat and pointed the way while yawning. She was amazed she still remembered.
Boq parked the car in the somewhat empty parking lot. "I'll go get us checked in." he said getting out of the car. He walked inside and looked around. It was a nice place.
He found the front desk and walked to it.
"Hello, and welcome to the Gillikin Palace Inn. How many people are in your party?"
Boq knew he wasn't in Shiz, though Shiz was in Gillikin. The people talked so different. "Two." he answered.
The man behind the counter typed Boq's response into the computer. He got a key from behing him and handed it to Boq. "I hope you have a nice stay."
"Thank you." he smiled, before getting a luggage cart. He headed back out to the car and got the luggage out of the trunk.
Galinda got out of the car and stretched. She grabbed Boq's hand and walked inside with him. She yawned.
"Galinda?"
Galinda turned around tiredly and saw the man behind the counter. She was more awake now. "Mark?" She ran to the counter and hugged him.
"How are you?" the man asked.
"Okay, I guess. College is great, but of course, family emergencies pop up out of the blue." she sighed.
"Oh yeah! I heard about that. I hope everything gets better."
Galinda smiled. "Thank you." She remembered she hadn't introduced Boq. She took him be the hand and brought him over to the counter. "This is Boq, my boyfriend."
It was the first time Boq had heard her say that, and it made hime feel warm inside. He shook the man's hand with a smile.
"It's nice to meet you, Boq." the man said. "I'm a long time friend of Galinda's."
"We met in 7th grade." Galinda added, yawning soon after.
The man walked back behind the counter and grabbed another key. "You two might have a much better stay in this room." he said, handing Boq the key.
"Oh, Mark." Galinda giggled.
The man smiled. "Just thought that plain, old, boring room wouldn't be enough for the lively Galinda Upland.
Boq got a little nervous about this.
"Don't be nervous, it's just a bigger room with different furniture." Galinda said with a smile.
The man chuckled. "I just thought your clothes would like some extra space."
Galinda laughed. "Yeah, my clothes like to breathe."
They both laughed.
"Well, we better get to bed, seeing that we're probably going to have another long day." Boq said, holding hand with Galinda again.
"Yeah." Galinda yawned.
"You two have a lovely 'morning'!" the man said before going back behind the counter.
Galinda waved as she went around the corner to the elevator. Boq pulled the luggage cart inside after she got in herself.
"Should I step up my game a little?" Boq joked.
Galinda giggled. "Don't worry about it. He's gay."
