The Chromatically Challenged Couple, in their holographic disguises rode the elevator down from the lawyer's office. They were alone in the lift and the changeling was doing some research on his brand new smart phone, which he had picked up on the way to the lawyers.

"They anything like these on Tamaran." He said as he continued to tap away on the phone's display. "Hey look, the county recorder's office is just two blocks away."

She raised an eyebrow, but didn't respond.

"Let's go get our marriage license … it says here that they're open till 5 PM and an appointment isn't required."

Raven pushed the stop button and the elevator came to a halt between floors.

"I love the idea; but if we're going to apply for a license, they're going to want to see some ID, and the only ID we have is as Raven and Changeling."

"You're right … let's do it."

Once again they slammed their rings together and their disguises vanished. Raven pushed the stop button, releasing it and the elevator resumed its course. When the doors finally opened into the building's foyer, there was a small crowd waiting to board. Several phones and cameras were produced and the people snapped away, taking pictures of Raven and the prodigal Titan who had returned to Jump after a long absence. They exited the building.

"I can see it." He pointed down the street. "Let's fly over there."

"How about we walk?" She replied as she took his hand.

"Walking works for me." He replied with a smile.

They were the focus of attention as they strolled down Broadway. Pretty much everyone walking in the opposite direction acknowledged them, most with just a smile, though there were several thumbs up gestures and a few waved at them. As they stopped in front of the building where the recorder's office was located they had a few autograph books shoved into their faces, which they cordially signed. They then hurried into the building before more fans showed up. The found the recorder's office on the second floor. The staff and patrons did a double take when they entered, but no one approached them.

They looked around and quickly found the counter they were looking for, which had a sign above it with the words "Marriage Licenses and Certificates". There was no one in line and they proceeded straight to the counter.

A matronly woman, who was looking down while shuffling some paperwork told them, without looking up: "I'll be right with you."

When she looked up she gasped.

"You're really … you, right?" She said in a whisper.

"Yes, we are. We're here for a marriage license."

A huge smile broke out on her face. The sounds of cameras snapping pictures echoed in the large room. They were going to be the leading story on the 5 o'clock news, not to mention on Superhero Magazine that night. Raven cringed, hoping that Heather O'Neill wouldn't be waiting for them outside with her camera crew when they were ready to leave.

The clerk's badge identified her as Edna. She picked up a phone and was heard asking about a conference room. When she hung up she walked to the end of the counter, where she opened the door.

"This way please, I'm sure you'll want some privacy."

20 minutes later …

They emerged from the conference room and Raven was holding the marriage license in her hands, almost not believing it was there. Now all that was missing was a brief ceremony with a justice of the peace and two witnesses and they would be husband and wife. Raven tucked the document into a pocket on the inside of her cape. She was feeling a jumble of emotions: joy, disbelief, ecstasy and elation.

When they returned to the main office her heart sank. Just outside the glass doors, since they were not allowed to enter, was none other than Heather O'Neill of Superhero Magazine and her camera crew. Raven sighed.

"Why doesn't she go pester the Justice League, the Avengers or the X Men and leave us alone?"

"I think they all have restraining orders against her." Edna replied. "I don't know why you Titans never did the same thing … there is a back door. It's supposed to be only for the staff, but we'll let you use it."

Edna took them to the back and looked through the peephole in the door.

"Sorry, there's more paparazzi out there."

Gar smiled "I guess it's dark energy time. Just take us straight home."

"What about the car?"

"We can send Bart for it. Every since he got his license he always wants to drive, right?"

Raven shook her head in disbelief. "He can run far faster than any car, why does he want to drive?"

Gar wagged his eyebrows. "He wants to take Wonder Girl out on a date, and you need wheels to take a girl out on a proper date."

Raven was about to say that Cassie could fly, so why would they need a car to go out on a date, until it hit her: anonymity. Without their costumes they looked like two ordinary teens. Unlike Raven and Beast Boy, who needed holorings to accomplish the same thing.

"Then let's go." She replied

Raven raised her arms and a black hemisphere surrounded them, it then morphed into a dark, spectral bird and phasing through the wall it spirited them away. Edna walked to the wall and touched it, just to make sure it was still solid. Another clerk with a name tag of "Barbara" approached her.

"I hope they do get married this time." Barbara remarked.

"So do I. They're nice people, but damn, they sure are weird." Edna replied.

"You mean like Herman and Lilly Munster weird?"

"Not that bad, but yeah kind of like that." Edna smiled. "I mean, he's green with pointy ears and she's gray and violet."

"All that matters is that they're in love. Say … I thought he was married to the alien, you know, Starfire."

"Apparently not anymore. I guess Raven's his true love after all."

Raven's black bird soared across the bay toward the Tower, landing on the roof. Holding hands they entered the elevator and rode down to the common room. Dinner time was approaching and Cyborg had volunteered to make Metropolis style ribs and was especially motivated as this would be the first time the Changeling would try them.

The elevator doors opened and they entered the common room. The current team as well as Steve and Rita were present and everyone turned to them.

"We got great news guys. The lawyer said ..."

Black energy suddenly covered his mouth, stopping his speech. He turned to Raven with a "what the hell?" look on his face.

Raven pointed into the crowd. The changeling turned and suddenly his heart froze. Standing next to Cyborg was none other that his estranged and now putative wife: Koriand'r the Grand Ruler of Tamaran. Her arms were crossed and she had a blank but cold look on her face.

Raven gulped as Starfire approached them in complete silence. Raven wondered how much Starfire knew or suspected. They had yet to tell a soul that she was now pregnant, but the sorceress feared that the former princess now somehow knew.

Starfire stopped in front of the Changeling. Her face was blank. It is said that the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. And she looked it.

"Why did you run away?"

Raven could sense the indignation swell within him. Of course, she was feeling the same way and was tempted to speak up herself. Knowing that this was his battle she kept quiet, though she was ready to leap in and support him should the need arise.

"Why? Because I need your permission and you wouldn't grant it."

"You never asked for it."

"I shouldn't have to ask for it. I'm not your property."

Starfire shifted over and faced Raven. Again, she displayed no emotion, though Raven could definitely feel the fury swirling inside her.

"I once invited you to share him with me, and you declined. Now you want him all for yourself."

"You abandoned him." Raven replied in her own monotone.

"I did no such thing."

"You took on a second husband, and turned Gar into your concubine."

"I did no such thing."

"He was stripped of his title. He doesn't appear with you at official functions anymore. And to add insult to injury, you are carrying another man's child in your womb."

"You are a thief!" Starfire shouted as she lost her composure. "You could not keep your talons off of Richard and now you are doing the same with Garfield."

"You forfeited him."

"I was willing to share him; but you would not accept."

"We are not Tamaranians and we aren't polygamists." Raven raised her voice.

"Lies! Humans have a long history of polygamy. It is still practiced in many cultures."

"But not in mine or in Gars!" Raven shouted back.

A nasty smile appeared on Starfire's face "You are one to do the talking. You sleep with my husbands and yes, I know you are sleeping with Garfield, do not deny it."

"I don't deny it. Why should I?"

"Ha! You admit that you are the slut! I forgave you for sleeping with my first husband, and how do you thank me for my mercy? By sleeping with my second husband!"

Gar stepped in front of Raven. "I'm not your husband."

"Of what nonsense do you speak!?" She thundered. "Of course you are my husband!"

She glared at Raven. "You put this idea in his mind."

Gar stood his ground. "We aren't on Tamaran and here I don't need your permission to divorce you. But I just found out that our marriage is invalid here on Earth, so I don't even need to divorce you."

An exasperated sigh escaped from the Tamaranian's lips.

"This is about Kreesad."

"Really? And what makes you think that?" His voice dripped in sarcasm.

"I have told you that you are my first."

He laughed in a mocking way. "Your first? Even if that was true, and we both know that it's not, you never asked me if I was OK with you marrying him, leaving me sloppy seconds, like I was your beta cuck. I was still morning little Gar's death when you dropped that bomb on me. How do you think that made me feel? Did you even take a moment to think about it?"

"An heir is required by law and we cannot produce another one, I had to take a second husband. The Royal Doctors say that Gharfeeld'r would not have made it to adulthood."

"That's a lie and you know it. He was perfectly healthy."

"You think I do not mourn his murder and death?" A tear dripped down her cheek.

His expression softened. "That's the first time I've actually seen you cry for him since his funeral."

Starfire's expression also softened. "There is much we need to talk about, the three of us." She looked at the others, who had all witnessed their verbal brawl. "In private."

Raven and Gar looked at each other and nodded. Raven took his hand and squeezed it.

"OK, in our room." Gar replied.

The three walked out of the common room into the elevator and were gone. The younger Titans looked stunned. The room feel silent, until Kid Flash spoke up.

"This is so hot! Changeling has two super hot super women fighting over him!"

Cyborg placed a hand on Kid Flash's shoulder. "No, Bart. You got it all wrong."

The tin man paused before continuing. "It isn't hot … it's a disaster."

Another short chapter, or at least short by my old standards. But hey, I update fast.

And before anyone complains that the X Men and Avengers are Marvel and not DC, it is important to know that waaaaay back in the 1980's the Teen Titans and the X Men met in a cross over comic book series. You can even buy an old copy on Amazon. Search for "teen titans xmen"
