And just like that Christmas is over and onto the New Year, it seems like Christmas has this massive build up then just zooms by at the speed of light, blink and it's gone. Anyways I hope you all enjoyed your Christmases and the presents you got along with the quality time with your family- mine was interesting to say the least, fun interesting though, brothers get weirder every year I swear. Sadly though that's the end of the Christmas fanfics- though I may upload one of two more because why the hell not.
Before I slip into the depths of my own mind- an astonishing yet bizarre place -back onto the main point!
So with this one I was watching a game play of it and my mind seemed to have a lot of fun connecting it with Oliver and Felicity so honestly, I have no idea where I was going with it but nevertheless I hope you enjoy but I think this might remain a one shot though I'm not quite sure yet.
As usual, leave a review and tell me your thoughts.
Thanks x
To be entirely honest she didn't quite know how all of this happened.
Ever since she was younger she'd been able to do things that most normal kids couldn't even dream of doing, she knew she was different but she never knew to what extent that went to.
It scared the living daylights out of her mother, so much so that whenever possible she worked as hard as she could to get out of the house leaving Felicity all on her own. It was mainly from that point on that she'd kept him a secret.
A secret only she knew anything about because she wasn't quite sure what would happen if anybody ever found out. It terrified her, the fact that she was the victim of all this and the worst part of it was that nobody could save her; she was all on her own with him.
"Felicity!" Oliver's outburst made her flinch and swivel round in her chair to face him "Are you okay, you seem distant"
"Hmm…oh yeah I'm fine, well not fine-fine believe me there is a difference there…anyways yes I'm okay" she couldn't help the mini ramble that escaped her mouth but it seemed to give Oliver a sense of relief.
Weird
"If you say so…alright Roy, remember; breathe, aim, release"
Roy was practicing with his bow and arrows, he was nowhere as good as Oliver was but then again he hadn't been through the same training as Oliver has and nowhere near as long either.
Taking his aim at the target hanging a couple metres ahead of him, Roy followed his mentor's instructions and he release the arrow.
It didn't even touch the target.
Instead it bounced off a metal pipe and towards the monitors, where a certain blonde was sat unaware of the events happening behind her.
"FELICITY DUCK" Oliver yelled at the back of the blonde's head.
The next event that happened, nobody had ever expected to occur.
When Felicity heard Oliver shouting at her, she spun round to see what the hell was happening and her breath caught in her throat.
The arrow was hovering right in front of her face right in front of her eyes before dropping to the floor with a clatter.
She was too afraid to move, her heart pounding in her chest as her eyes slowly scanned the rest of the team's stunned expressions. Uh oh
It was the nudge at her back that snapped her back and caused her to bolt towards the stairs leaving a trail of still shocked team members in her wake.
All she could think about was how thankful she was for deciding to wear converses and a pair of tracksuit bottoms that morning but also about getting as far as she could from any opposing questions.
"FELICITY, WAIT!" Oliver's voice registered behind her but she didn't care, she needed to get as far away as possible. She couldn't go home because they would know where she was, she needed to divert to somewhere else.
The night loomed over her like a shadow and if she didn't possess a certain secret then she wouldn't be running through the city at this time for the fear of what kind of people would be out there but honestly they should be scared of her.
She can still hear Oliver's frantic screaming of her name trying desperately to call her back to him, to keep her safe but nobody knew that no matter where she went, she would never be safe. She's been doing this whole thing for far too long to even so much as consider the word safe.
His voice whispered to her, directing her on which path to take and before she knew it he was leading her to one of the abandoned buildings in the outskirts of Starling City. Felicity didn't need to be told on what procedure to take, she knew it like the back of her hand.
Get to the highest possible point so everything was forced to come directly at her, giving her the upper advantage over them.
Rushing up the staircase, Felicity never once stopped running.
The amount of time she'd spent running without being able to look over her shoulder was like a sickening version of home to her because it's the only thing she'd ever known since she was younger.
Night time always scared her the most, because that's when the true monsters came out to play.
Ever since she was a young child, she'd been haunted and even attacked relentlessly by the horrific creatures that nobody but she could see and the worst part about it?
Only he could.
She didn't even know why or how but it didn't matter, as long as they were both safe and together they would be able to fight.
Gasping for oxygen, Felicity stood on the highest point of the building as she looked out on the city and the haunting nightmares it held but not a soul knew about, until she arrived five years ago.
"Felicity!" Oliver's voice caused her to spin round to face the man she trusted with her life but could never trust with her secret for the fear that it would slowly consume him and plague his life in even more darkness than ever, darkness she was old friends with.
"Oliver…please, don't come any closer" she tried desperately but he never stopped stepping cautiously towards her.
She didn't want him to get too close to her because who knows what would happen to him is she let him in all the way, if she let her guard down.
Felicity had never once known herself to have regretted something as much as she did now with accepting to join Team Arrow. She thought she could keep it a secret. She thought that they would never have to know, that it would just be the original duo to battle through but that moment Roy's arrow had come to a complete halt in front of her, there was nothing she could say that wouldn't raise suspicion.
But would they even believe her if she told them? Would they still treat her the same? Would they look at her in the same light that they had always done?
"Felicity, I don't understand…please tell me what the hell is going on" not for a long time had she seen Oliver's face look so broken, it hurt, since it was her fault.
"I…can't…it'll hurt you too" right then she didn't care if her voice sounded like a scared child.
"Felicity, we can help you…you know that…right?"
Holding her breath, she began frantically shaking her head.
"Nobody can help me…I'm on my own, I've always been on my own" she partially whispered.
"No! Felicity I'm here for you, I'm always going to here for you…please just, let me in"
His voice was there again, telling her to run but only did Oliver block the path but there was a part of her that just couldn't run from him anymore, she didn't want to run anymore it was all she knew when she had grown up and she was damn sick of it.
Why did he have to choose here to direct her? He'd led her straight to a dead end.
"I can't do that to you…to the team"
"You've always been there for me, for everyone else…for once, let us return the favour"
"Oliver, this is something nobody can fight, not even me…I'm just the victim in all this"
"You're not a victim Felicity; I will never let anything hurt you…even if it means my own life in the process"
Just when she opened her mouth to speak, a whistling sent shivers racing up her spine. They were here. A tingling feeling embraced her and she knew he was ready to help, ready to protect her from them.
Then she saw them.
Darkness never moved like they did, they moved strategically, mindful of their next step.
"Felicity, what is it?" not once did he stop walking towards her, coming to stand right in front of her.
The tingling feeling turned into a powerful force and Felicity felt a bolt of protectiveness for Oliver flare inside her.
Without any means of hesitation, she threw herself towards the man stood in front of her; she tackled him to the ground and covered his body with her own.
The screeching sound was like living a nightmare, she was petrified.
That was the sound she heard before she was attacked when she was younger. She couldn't help the way her body shook with fear that was something that had always been there no matter how much she fought against it that fear would always be present throughout.
Keeping his head beneath her own, Felicity looked up to see a shield of blue light surround them both. He was helping in the only way he knew possible without leaving both of them defenceless against them.
Oliver had no clue what was happening when Felicity had thrown herself on top of him, guarding him from something but from the way he felt her entire body turn rigid whatever it was wasn't good in any way. From the way her form never ceased to shake, whatever she was defending him from scared her as much as it did with him possibly even more.
When he heard a sound worse than nails against a chalkboard, his hands came up to cover his ears and muffle the noise.
He trusted her to keep them both safe but his curiosity was too much.
Lifting his head to see what scene was playing out above them, the first he was met by was some sort of blue light around them and from the looks of it was blocking out the dark that moving in a strange way.
Darkness didn't move like that.
What the hell was going on and how was Felicity a part of all this?
Felicity knew what would happen if they stayed in one place for too long. This was just going to worsen; they had to get out of here right now.
"We need to move, now!" Felicity yelled over the sound of the screeching, desperate to move away from it.
Rising to her feet she began pushing Oliver to run, breaking into a run they headed for the stairs but the darkness came after them.
Oliver knew from experience that when you're in a situation like their current one, to never shout or call out but only to boot it to safety.
Letting his instincts kick in, Oliver reached behind him and tightly grasped her hand in his and tugged her along with his strides, closing up the distance between them and the exit. Oliver full on legged-it as it their lives depended on it and it most likely did.
There was something Felicity wasn't telling him and he didn't like it one bit, especially when it had the opportunity to hurt her in such a way.
Living her life, Felicity had done this way too many times. Running, running from things, from people that tried to hurt her, wanted to use her ability to their advantage, threatened them both but now she had hauled not only Oliver but the team into it too.
Why couldn't she just have walked away from them all? None of this would be happening right now.
Knowing the team, they wouldn't stop interrogating her until she confessed the real truth.
She heard them screeching, threats from all directions, calling her back to them. They would catch up to them all if she didn't do something now.
So she did the first thing that came to mind.
Felicity yanked her hand free from Oliver's grasp while shoving him with a sudden strength, she didn't even know she had, in the right direction whilst she turned on her heel and sprinted in a completely different direction with them following just behind her thankfully taking absolutely no interest in Oliver, who came to an instant halt and stared after her in shock.
"FELICITY, NO!" Oliver's voice was frantic once again but she took no notice of it or him as she continued forward at a run not daring herself to falter in her movements for it could mean her end, one mistake and she was finished.
Feeling a cold spike against her ankle, she knew what was about to happen. Her chance slipped away in a blink of an eye.
The world around her whizzed past at the speed of light, leaving her disorientated. Diving head first into the concrete, Felicity felt the pain erupt across her wrist as it took the brunt of the impact.
Biting off a shriek of pain currently rising in her throat, she focused on getting up but she knew it was too late for her.
Pain coursed through her leg, bringing feelings of knives slicing her skin open with it as she felt herself being drug into the shadows.
Not being able to bite the pain off anymore, she yelped as he came to her aid.
Glancing down, Felicity witnessed the blood staining her tracksuit bottoms, steadily rising up the expanse of her leg. Fortunately for her the adrenaline fuelling her system was crashing into her like heavy waves against the cliff side, giving her the advantage and she grabbed onto it.
Forcing herself up to her feet, Felicity limped-ran across the grounds towards anywhere away from the terror that remained behind her current position.
Feeling her body being suddenly swept up from the ground, it didn't take a genius to figure out who it was.
"Hold on" the panic was already present in his voice as Oliver dashed towards his bike but she feared that she wouldn't be able to hold onto the last shred of hope as nightfall began to enclose around her, followed by the striking series of pain shocking her skull.
The last word she managed to whisper was directed off towards the place they had just escaped from as she blindly reached out.
"Aiden"
It didn't take long for the darkness to consume her.
