Ender's POV

I was in one of the random sitting rooms in Steve's castle, listening to Mist when Cresilia came in.

"Jeb says that Notch should be okay after he gets some rest." she said.

*That's good* said Mist *Have you told Herobrine yet? Or any of the others for that matter?* Mist's spell had worn off finally so she and I were one again.

"Not yet" she said "I just found out and you guys were on the way there."

"Well we don't want to make them wait to hear good news." I said "Off you go."

She hurried off, leaving me and Mist to wonder how the others would react.

*How is Flare dealing with what happened to Izra by the way.* asked Mist.

"Okay I guess," I sighed "I mean as well as you can expect for someone who's best friend just changed sides. On the topic of different sides though, what was up with you and Teloxen? It seemed like you knew him pretty well for members of enemy forces."
*Oh yeah, I forgot you actually were conscious for that.* said Mist *Long story short, we were in a bit of a romantic relationship during the chaos war. As far as I am aware, Mirage was the only one of the Enderkind who knew of it at the time.*

"Covert romance seems to be a common thing with his family." I noted.

*Guess so.* said Mist.

"I'm going to go see Flare," I said "And maybe this time Notchie will not be awkwardly hanging around."

*You'll never get that lucky.* said Mist *There are not exactly a huge number of other places he could be right now. And they are sharing a room, so its not like he isn't allowed to be there.*

"Yeah, well that doesn't mean it can't annoy me." I said, leaving the sitting area and acceding several staircases to reach Flare's room. Pushing open the door a crack, I asked "Anyone in there? Can I come in?"

"Yeah." I heard Flare say in a muffled voice. Pushing the door the rest of the way open, I walked in, noting the clear division from Flare's and Notchie's sides of the room. One side was perfectly cleaned while the other was covered in random items. Flare lay on the bed located on the messy side, face down and in disheveled clothing.

"Are you okay?" I asked, going over to sit across from him on Notchie's bed.

"No." he murmured, refusing to look at me and instead burying his head in a pillow.

"Well, what's wrong then?" I asked, concern growing.

"Promise not to laugh?" he asked, eyes poking out from under the pillow.

"Uh, sure." I said.

*I wonder what's up.* said Mist.

"Well," he said reluctantly "Izra and I both had a bit of a crush on you."

*No really.* said Mist *I think even Notchie knew that.*

Be quiet Mist. I sent.

"And after this, I mean how could I compare to Izra? He gave himself over to the other side to protect you and I'm completely useless."

Did he really? I asked Mist.

*Probably* said Mist *There was that random strange rescue from the Crafter prison by Sallen*

Sallen was the one who rescued us? I asked.

*Yeah.* said Mist *He has a pretty distinctive presence. I figured it out when we met him in the Aether.*

Well I guess that does make sense then. I said It explains how Izra and Sallen knew each other. "Flare," I said "You are not useless. Also, how do you know what Izra did?"

"He told me." sighed Flare "Just before we went to the Aether. And of course by then there wasn't really anything I could do about it."

"Oh Flare," I sighed "That must have been awful. But in all honesty, I would never choose Izra over you."

"Really?" he said, eyes looking slightly happier.

"Yeah." I said "To be honest, I always found Izra a bit irritating, although it was never that bad. He liked to flirt a bit too much."

"I still miss him though." said Flare, eyes growing sad.

"Don't worry." I said, moving to the bed where he lay and twining my tail around his, doing my best to avoid the hot touch of the blaze rods that composed his blaze ring as I hugged him. "We will be able to get Izra back. I don't know how, but we will do it."

*I suppose this would be a really awkward time to say I have been waiting to get out of these vents for quite some time now.* I heard Notchie send.

*Yeah, probably.* said Mist *But hey, that's never stopped me.*

Tanya's POV

"So how did things go?" I asked Jeb and he lay down on the couch across from where I sat.

"Pretty good." he said "No one is in danger of dying any time soon at least. Totally random question though, why the heck does this place have so many couches?"

"No idea." I said "Had nothing to do with it before last week, never had been anywhere near it."

"Oh, I nearly forgot." said Jeb, sitting up abruptly "Do you know who Tanya is? Someone asked me to give her a note but I don't really know anyone very well so I haven't got a clue who that is."

"Well its your lucky day because I am Tanya."

"Really? That's good." he said "I'm glad I didn't forget." He handed me a small piece of paper, folded into thirds to obscure whatever was written on it. Wondering who it could possibly be from, I opened it, reading the carefully written words.

Tanya, if you get this, then you will know who sent it. I am doing alright, which I am sure will be a relief, but things are changing here and even I don't know if I will be alright. When we meet once more, I may be seeking refuge. I must accept who I am though, and so whatever comes will merely be a test of my determination. May you be safe and your realm free of enemies.

"Who gave this to you?" I asked Jeb, eyes wide.

"I don't know their name." he said "They wore gray robes and had very light colored gray wings though if that is of any help."

"It is. Thank you." I said, standing up. "Where exactly did you meet this lord though?"

A flash of guilt crossed Jeb's face "One of the rooms near where I healed Notch. He gave me a potion to get rid of the poison. I didn't know if I could trust him, but I really didn't have another choice. There was no way I could have dealt with that kind of poison."

"I think you made the right choice." I said.

"It appears so." he said "I hope it stays that way."

Excusing myself to travel elsewhere, I went out onto one of the balconies that overlooked the main courtyard of Steve's castle.

"Oh Teloxen." I sighed "How I wish I could have protected you. I see so much of him in you. You are like he was before the war, before he betrayed every bond he made. I only hope you shall be spared the fall all chaos kind seem to have."

Shadow's POV

It was still early in the morning when Herobrine woke me. "I think Notch is going to be okay." he said, relief apparent in his white eyes. "I can feel his magic again. In here." He placed his hand on his chest. I reached out and sensed Notch's magic securely linked with Herobrine's. It was faint, but it was defiantly there.

"That's good." I said "Have you finished healing?"

"Yeah." said Herobrine "Those ambrosium shards Jeb gave me work really well apparently. I don't think I've ever healed that fast before."

"Let's deal with these Crafters then." I said "If we are lucky, we can do it before Steve wakes up. Try not to kill anyone though, that would be hard to explain."

"Same rule as always." said Herobrine "If they aren't stupid, they don't die. Its hardly my fault that don't listen or follow simple directions."

"Fair enough I suppose." I said, doing my best to conceal a grin.

Deciding to brave the main gates, Herobrine and I arrived there to see the last of the Crafters showing up for the day.

"That's a lot of Crafters." noted Herobrine "Don't they have anything better to do than stand around disturbing the peace?"

"One would think." I said "And yet here they are."

A few Crafters towards the front of the group noticed that it was Herobrine and not Steve with me today.

"Give him to us!" they screamed "So that we may bring him to justice."

"And why exactly would I do that?" I asked "As far as I am aware, none of you have actually come up with anything he has done wrong. I on the other hand, consider wasting my time to be a crime worthy of several years in prison, so unless someone has something useful to say, I suggest you leave."

"He was lurking around in the forest near my house in the middle of the night!" one yelled.

"Yeah, and he gave me a really creepy look when I was hunting!" said another/

"So let me get this straight." I said "You are accusing him of being outside at night and looking at you? In what universe is that considered a crime?"

"But he's evil!" yelled another Crafter "He tried to kill Steve!"

"Why would I try to kill my little brother?" asked Herobrine "And what did I ever do to get labeled as evil? Maybe a little mean or sarcastic, but evil? When was that?"

"See, this is why I don't like Crafter's very much" I said "Most of them are totally opposed to anything that they don't want to believe. Apparently your innocence is one of those things."

"Even zombies listen better than this." said Herobrine, leaning up against on of the walls "And they are dead."

"Oh, I can sense Steve coming." I said "This should be interesting."

"Oy, Crafters listen up!" yelled Steve, storming down the hall. "I've not gotten a lot of sleep lately, and so I'm only going to say this once. You guys are going to get out of here right now before I do something I probably will regret later. And don't doubt that I will, I've done some pretty crazy things when my emotions were this strong."

*Like causing a massive earthquake that swallows buildings.* snickered Illusion *I kind of want to see that, these Crafters are asking for it.*

Looking slightly worried, the Crafters started to disperse, obviously not used to seeing their lord this worked up.

"That felt good." said Steve, coming to stand beside me. "Probably shouldn't have, but it did. They've been keeping me up all night, and I already have enough to deal with when they aren't driving me crazy."

"Well you will feel better knowing Notch is going to be okay. Cresilia told us when we were on our way out here, but Herobrine had kind of guessed this morning."

"That is good news." said Steve, looking slightly calmer "It means I will probably be able to get some sleep. Worrying about things always keeps me up."

"I think we will all sleep better knowing he is okay." I said "We should go see him in a bit, after he has had some time to sleep."
