Hollystorm awoke in an airy clearing, where four, lofty oaks soared up to a star-swathed sky, brushing the clouds with their lush green leaves. The black warrior looked around, startled, and inhaled deeply, the rush of cool, sharp air revitalizing her aching muscles and refreshing her senses. She scrambled to her paws in shock, suddenly realizing where she was.

"No!" she exclaimed, whirling around madly, scanning the trees for any signs of movement, but the night was still, and the only noise was the sound of the leaves rustling gently in the wind.

"No! I can't be dead!"

"Do not fret. You are very much alive." The slow, rasping voice made Hollystorm's fur stand on end as she spun around again to see Rock; paws lain upon a crooked stick, crouched amongst the roots of one of the trees.

"Then why am I in Starclan?" demanded the she-cat, narrowing her eyes at the twisted, naked tom, who cast a glance at his stick. Hollystorm noticed deep score-marks, etched into the wood, some crossed out, some left as they had been made. She knew all too well what an uncrossed mark meant; she had nearly been one herself more than once.

"I am here to deliver your prophecy." Meowed Rock, running a paw over the marks on the stick. Confusion seemed to explode inside the warrior's mind, and she asked

"I already know the prophecy. 'The holly leaves are evergreen but-" Hollystorm was cut off by the harsh, scratching sound of the ancient tunnel guardian laughing, and she winced, the sound boring into her ears and mind.

"That was merely the first part of the prophecy. Listen closely, and the rest will become clear." With that, Rock placed both feet on the stick and closed his eyes, spilling out the words of a prophecy in a voice that wasn't his; an archaic voice that, if it could speak, would sound like the words of the earth itself. Hollystorm's fur bristled along her spine as she heard the words ringing in her ears, and she almost felt compelled to chant along as the ancient lines of the prophecy thrummed their way into her heartbeat.

"The forest will run with rivers of blood,

And shall be killed from within by the frost.

However the holly's leaves are evergreen,

But even they may be lost.

But the leaves are sharp

And may leave their mark

And the clan will all be well;

But the outcome of the final stand,

Not even the stars can tell."

As soon as he had finished reciting the prophecy, Rock's eyes flew open, and Hollystorm felt the ground being dragged away from her paws. The twisted old cat gave a dip of his head, and, as her vision went dark, she heard some final words in that ancient, earthy tone Rock had spoken the prophecy in,

"Beware, Hollystorm. Beware the frost…"

Hollystorm shifted uncomfortably. A stone was causing her back to arch in an unnatural way, and her fur was soaking wet, dragging her limbs and weighting her body. A sudden trickle of cold water slithered down her throat, and she coughed feebly, trying to clear it. Suddenly, an excited squeal brought her back to her back to her senses, and a heavy weight landed on her chest, covering her in frantic licks. Emerald eyes snapped open, and she grinned to see Deeppool, eyes gleaming with joy, licking her over, paws flung around her protectively.

"Don't you ever do anything like that again!" he sobbed, and Hollystorm noticed the desperation in his eyes.

"Well, I won't, if you promise not to try and kill me!" The grey tom backed away, regret in his eyes, and Hollystorm knew that she had gone too far.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean-"

"No. you're right. If I had taken more control…" He trailed away and slumped to the ground, eyes glassy and distant. Snow, who had been lurking unseen in the shadows came over and whispered something in his ear, and the medicine cat perked up and scrambled to his paws. Snow looked at Hollystorm, and murmured something darkly to her. The black she-cat looked eerie in the darkness of the cave, the only parts of her visible being her glinting eyes and the smoky-white smudge over her heart.

"The prophecy. Tell me." The dusky warrior was startled at the young cat's request, and she stumbled backwards in surprise.

"Who told you about that?!" demanded Hollystorm, and Snow replied coolly, flicking her tail.

"My guardian." Confusion flashed across the warriors gaze, and the tiny cat in front of her let out a chime-like laugh.

"Mothflight taught me everything I need to know, except the actual words of the prophecy." Hollystorm gasped, as Snow seemed to morph before her eyes, the white spot on her chest spread, and her eyes grew to a stormy green colour, until her pelt was pure white, and she held a strange grace about her. The cat spoke in a voice that was not Snow's; it seemed much older, the voice of a full grown warrior.

"I am the reincarnation of Mothflight, the first medicine cat. Tell me your prophecy." Despite hearing the words only once, Rock's ominous foreseeing of the future seemed burned into her mind, and the words tumbled out effortlessly.

"The forest will run with rivers of blood,

And shall be killed from within by the frost.

However the holly's leaves are evergreen,

But even they may be lost.

But the leaves are sharp

And may leave their mark

And the clan will all be well;

But the outcome of the final stand,

Not even the stars can tell…."
