Meanwhile, on the highway to the Hamptons, Wilson was about thirty minutes away from the cottage.
"Chase, I cannot believe you brought her along."
"I can't wait to see her face when she sees Cuddy."
"Does Allison know they are married?"
"No. She has been asking about him since she arrived two days ago. She doesn't even know he is going to be here. I just told her we were invited to a friend's place for the holiday."
"I think this is a horrible idea. I really think you should call and tell him."
"No way. I want this to be a surprise."
"I hope this doesn't bite you in the ass. If she does anything to upset Cuddy, this could mean your job."
"He wouldn't fire me over this."
"You'd be surprised. You know what happened when I took Stacy to their home."
"He needs me too much."
"Don't count on it. If she upsets Cuddy, you will pay for it. I hope you are prepared for the fallout."
"I hadn't really thought about it."
"You better watch her like a hawk and run interference."
"Ok. I'll watch her."
"I can't believe she has slept this whole time."
"Yeah. Now, you've got me worried."
"You should be."
When they arrived, Chase and Wilson looked stunned but decided to go ahead inside. Chase woke Cameron up.
"Wow. Your friend has a nice place."
"Sure does. I was told this was a cottage."
"Nice cottage."
When they rang the doorbell, Jake opened the door. "James, it's nice to see you."
"It's nice to see you too. Nice place you have here."
"Thank you. Please come inside. I didn't know you were bringing guests."
"If it's a problem, we can find somewhere else to stay."
"No, no. We have room. Come in."
Jake, Wilson, Chase, and Cameron went into the living room. Blythe looked pale when she saw Cameron.
"James, I'm disappointed in you."
"Blythe, it was not my idea. I didn't know. I told him this was a mistake."
"Mrs. House, I promise everything will be fine."
"Allison, I expect you to be on your best behavior."
"Is House here?"
"He's upstairs asleep. Leave him be."
"I just wanted to say hello."
"Leave him be."
"Fine. Nice place."
Jake just looked at Blythe. "Let me show everyone to their rooms."
After showing them to their room, Jake found Blythe. "What's wrong?"
"She's had a crush on Greg for years."
"Uh oh."
"Uh oh is right. Lisa will have a fit and so will Greg."
"I just invited James."
"I know but I've found its better to just let him live his own life. Things have a way of getting all messed up when people intervene."
"I see. I'll never do it again."
"We'll have to watch her."
"Ok."
"I'm sure Arlene will help us."
The next morning, Arlene and Blythe fixed breakfast. House and Cuddy woke up starving. They both made their way to the kitchen for breakfast. When they walked in, they heard Wilson talking to Rachel.
"Wilson, I didn't know you were coming."
"Jake invited me." House nodded. "Listen, there's something you need to know." House raised an eyebrow. "I brought Chase with me."
"That's fine."
"But he brought someone with him."
"Who? His latest conquest."
"No, his ex-wife."
"What the hell is she doing here?"
"I told him it was a bad idea."
"That idiot."
"Daddy, you used bad words."
"Sorry Rach." House closed his eyes and threw his head back. "Rach, why don't you go see what Grandma is doing?" Rachel left the room.
"If she upsets Cuddy, his ass is mine."
"I don't want her here."
"I understand Lisa. We can leave."
"No Wilson. You can stay. They can leave."
Chase and Cameron walked into the room. "House."
"Chase, you're an idiot."
"I've heard that before."
"Now, I really mean it." House looked at Cameron. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Robert invited me."
"But I didn't."
"She's been visiting for a few days. She asked about you so I just brought her along."
"Uh, didn't you think you should tell me about it?"
"Well, Jake invited us."
"Jake? I'll kill him."
Cuddy had her hand on his arm. "He didn't know."
"Who's Jake?"
"That's none of your business." House huffed.
"You don't have to be rude House."
"Why not? You are. You come into my home uninvited."
"Your home?"
"Yes, actually it's our home." He put his arm around Cuddy.
Cameron finally looked at Cuddy. "Oh my goodness, I didn't even realize you were pregnant." Cuddy looked incredulous. How could anyone not realize she was pregnant? She's an idiot.
"Did you think I had just gotten fat?"
"I hadn't even noticed. Wait, your place? As in the two of you?"
"God, you are so stupid. Who do think is the father of the twins?"
"I hadn't really thought about it."
"Cuddy and I are married, happily married. She's having twins. We already have a son and daughter."
Cameron gasped. "And this is your place?"
"Yes. It is our place." House huffed. "You guys rode together didn't you?" Wilson nodded. "You can stay but keep the idiots away from us." House looked at Cameron and Chase. "If she does anything and I mean anything to upset Cuddy, I will fire your ass. Do you understand?"
Chase nodded. House and Cuddy left the room. "You were right. He is pissed."
"I told you."
"Why is he so mad?"
"God, you are stupid." Chase rolled his eyes at Cameron. "You've had a thing for him for years. He doesn't want you trying to cause him problems in his marriage."
"I've been over him for years."
"Bullshit. All you did was keep asking me about him."
"I was just curious about him."
"Stay away from him and Cuddy. I mean it or I will lose my job."
Arlene walked in. "So, Robert brought the bimbo who's after my son-in-law?" Cameron looked funny. "Stay away from him or you'll answer to me. I will be watching you."
Julia and Gretchen walked in. "Stay away from Greg."
"Who are you?"
"I'm Julia, Lisa's sister."
"I'm Gretchen, Greg's aunt."
"His aunt? Are you Blythe's sister?"
"No, I'm Jake's sister."
"Wait, I'm confused. Who is Jake?"
"God, she is stupid. Jake is Greg's father."
"I thought John was his father."
"No, John was his step-father. Jake is his biological father."
"Apparently, a lot has changed."
"Yes it has." Arlene looked at the group. "Lunch will be ready at 1:00 pm. Keep yourselves amused until then." She looked at Cameron. "You stay away from Greg and Lisa."
Cameron nodded. After the others left the room, she looked at Chase. "They are very protective of House."
"You have no idea how protective they are of him. They will feed you to the wolves if you hurt him or Cuddy."
Jake found House and Lisa outside on the terrace.
"I'm sorry. I had no idea that James would invite someone else and I certainly had no idea about that girl."
"We know Jake."
"I just wanted you and James to get closer again. You've been friends with him for years."
"I know you meant well but there's a reason we are no longer close." Jake waited for House to finish. "He went against my wishes and brought Stacy into my home and Lisa fainted."
"I know. I won't interfere again. Blythe told me last night that I had really messed up."
House chuckled. "Yeah, you did. I guess you're allowed to mess up once in a while."
"I am sorry. I'll try to make sure she doesn't cause you any problems."
"Thanks."
Jake went inside and found Cameron and Chase. "I need to speak with you two."
"I didn't mean to cause problems Mr. David." Jake just looked at Chase. "Ok, so I did but I didn't think it through." Jake nodded.
"I hope you don't end up regretting your decision. He will never forgive you if Lisa gets hurt."
Cameron had had enough. "What's so special about Cuddy? Why is everyone so worried about her?"
Jake was immediately ticked off. "Listen here young lady. You will have respect for Lisa and Greg for as long as you are a guest in this house. You will be nice to everyone here and show us the respect we deserve. You are a guest here and you will act accordingly." Cameron was stunned. "As far as Lisa is concerned, in case you didn't notice she is over seven months pregnant with twins. Those are my grandchildren and if you do anything to cause harm to them or Lisa, you will answer to me. Have I made myself clear?"
"Yes sir."
Jake walked off and went to Blythe. "I think Greg and Lisa have forgiven me but I will be watching that woman."
"So will everyone else."
In the other room, Cameron still looked stunned. "Who was that?"
"That was Jake."
"I know but he's really protective of House."
"I told you that they would feed you to the wolves if you bothered him."
"I can't believe how everyone is acting about him."
"Listen, Jake is his father. They just found each other a few months ago. He's not going to hurt his son that he just found."
"But .."
"Jake and Blythe are engaged. Blythe and Arlene live in a guest house behind House and Cuddy. Jake lives with them right now. Julia lives on the next road over. They are a close knit family."
"House has a close knit family."
"Amazing, isn't it?"
"Yeah it is."
"How shocked are you?"
"Very."
"If I had just told you, would you have believed me?"
"No, I wouldn't have. This is something that you have to see to believe. I've seen it and I'm still not sure if I believe it."
"You better believe it or those wolves will be coming after you."
"I believe you." Cameron thought for a few minutes. "I think I'm going to go talk to House."
"Are you insane?"
"No, you can come to. I want to talk to him and Cuddy." Chase followed her.
"What?"
"I just wanted to thank you for letting us stay for Thanksgiving." House and Cuddy nodded.
"Don't make me regret it."
"I won't." Cameron paused. "I really am happy for you two. You seem happy together."
"We are as long as people don't try to cause us problems."
"I promise I will be on my best behavior. I've already been lectured by everyone. I will admit Jake's was the most telling."
"What do you mean?"
"He just made sure I realized that I was a guest here and that I should respect my hosts." House and Cuddy nodded. "Where's your cane?"
"I don't need it anymore. Lisa found a stem cell muscle regeneration clinical trial. I decided to do it while she was pregnant with Levi."
Cameron nodded. "I'm happy for you."
"Cuddy, when are you due?"
"January 5th."
"Wow. Listen, I know that I used to chase him around." Cuddy nodded. "I'll even admit that I really wanted to see him again." Cuddy nodded. "I also promise that I will not do anything. I would never try to break up your marriage."
"You couldn't even if you tried." House fumed. Cuddy rubbed his arm.
"I didn't mean it like that."
"I'm not worried about you breaking up my marriage because I know you could never get me to cheat on her." House looked at Cuddy. "You could, however, flirt and piss her off which would elevate her blood pressure. We are here so she can rest and relax. She doesn't need the stress." House looked at Chase. "You should have known better than to try and cause problems like this."
"I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
"It better not."
"It won't. I've learned my lesson."
"Allison, would you like to take a walk with me on the beach?"
"Sure Robert."
Chase and Cameron left House and Cuddy alone on the terrace.
"Do you think she will really leave you alone?"
"I hope so. Maybe she'll hook up with Chase. I sure as hell don't want her. I never did."
She leaned up and kissed him. "I'm hungry."
House laughed. "You're always hungry. Let's go feed you three."
House and Cuddy went to finally eat breakfast.
