Monsters. Monsters and more monsters, Logan thought to himself. This world was beginning to show it's true colours and Logan was beginning to recognize them. What did it all mean? Was it real? Was it a dream? The answer was for everyone to stop asking and just go along with it. That's how the world always has been hasn't it? "Hey Logan. Rick sent me down. Time for you to get off the watch duty and start socializing a bit," Tyreese said with a short giggle as he placed his hand on the boys shoulder. Logan shrugged. "Nobody has taken Katy's place. It's been two days since Terry tested his invention and she hasn't moved," Logan stated as the two turned and looked at her. "Yeah well, would you try to replace her right now? Whatever is going on with her she's glued to the fence. I'm starting to wonder what the actual fuck happened out there," Tyreese said with a deep sigh. Logan peeked around at the other Woodbury survivors. He caught the eye of a woman with black curly hair smile at Tyreese. He smile back. Logan grew a smile and gave Tyreese a light tap on the arm. "Who's the lovely lady?" Tyreese looked back hiding his light blush. "That's Karen," Tyreese replied. "You tapping that?" Logan chuckled. Tyreese have a look. "Nice to see you back to normal," Tyreese laughed back. Logan looked out to the walkers again. "What does normal even mean anymore?" "Beats the hell out of me. I'm just trying to live a little. Taking the days one step at a time," Tyreese said. Logan remained quiet. Tyreese chewed his lip and turned up to the prison fence to see Rick standing and glaring at them. "Look man, you need a break. Go get something to eat. I got this." Logan sighed and nodded. He began to make his way up to the gates. He took slow long steps up the hill. He wasn't ready to leave the fence. He wanted to do something for he group. Everyone from his old group had a purpose. Michael the protecter and fighter, Terry the smart and educated one, Jane the beautiful and loveable woman with a sense of motherly bliss and him….. What was he? Was he even useful? The thought left his mind as he bumped into Rick. "Oh- ah sorry about that," Logan said as he rubbed the back of his head. Rick smiled nervously. "What's wrong?" "Well I was just checking in on you? You doing okay?" Rick asked. Logan let out a deep sigh. "Michael said something didn't he?" Logan asked. Rick nodded. "Jesus Christ….. Well I'm doing okay. You don't need to worry about me Rick. I just- I just want to prove to all of you that I'm worth something here. I need a purpose right now and I just don't know what I need to do to prove it to you." "Logan, you don't have to prove anything. Your one of us that ain't gonna change. Stop making excuses," Rick said trying to assure him. Logan nodded. "Head inside. Beth and Hershel got some food ready for everyone." Logan nodded again and headed inside. Rick looked out at the yard. He glared around. He was looking for Jane. They hadn't spoken much since the Woodbury survivors arrived. He's been busy organizing everything. Not only that but he was avoiding something. His feelings. He knew his feelings for Jane were growing. It worried him in many ways. He didn't want anything to happen to her. And Carl. He wondered how Carl would feel about it. That's when he really thought about it. Before approaching Jane he wanted to speak with Carl. Rick made his way inside the prison. Logan, Beth, Hershel, Terry, Jeremy, Patrick, Carl, Ryan. Peter, Lydia, Maggie, Glenn, Trish, Olivia, Silas and some of the other Woodbury folk sat eating and chatting with one another. His eyes moved to Carl. He was quiet. He knew why. It was Katy. He hasn't been too jolly since Katy returned. She didn't even speak that much to anyone. Rick sighed and made his way over to him. "Carl, can I speak with you for a moment?" Rick asked. Carl looked at his dad and nodded. The two of them headed into Carl's cell. They sat down on the edge of the bed and remained quiet for a moment. Rick wondered to himself what to say to Carl. How to say it. He wondered what his reaction would be. Anger, sad, or emptiness? Rick shook his head out of the thought and looked at Carl. "What's up?" Carl asked edging straight to the point. "I wanted to ask you something," he paused. "Jane, what-" "I know what your gonna say," Carl interrupted. Rick looked at him oddly. "I know you care about her dad. Look no one will ever replace mom but Jane's good. She cares and honestly if it is anyone I'd want it to be her." Rick gave a sigh of relief and grew a smile. "So you'd be okay with us?" Rick asked. "Course. Like I said, she's good. I can see her as a part time mom. Eventually full time," Carl joked dryly. Rick gave a light chuckle. "Well alright then," he said as he rose. Carl quickly grabbed his arm. "Do you think Katy is….. Mental?" Carl asked. Rick gave him an odd look. "Not at all, why?" "Well it's just Patrick said that people have been talking and well…. I don't like what they've been saying. I really like her dad and every time I see her out there I- I just wanna run to her and save her. Let her know that I'm here and that's all that matters," Carl replied. Rick looked at his son. He really was growing up. "Tell her that. You like her let her know. She's good Carl. I can see her in our family. We don't know how long we have here. Don't leave this world regretting the things you didn't do," Rick grinned before leaving him. Carl sat there for a moment thinking to himself. Rick was right. Carl bit his lip in final thought. He wanted this, he wanted Katy. Carl quickly took in a deep breath and headed to Katy's standing. He began to feel his palms sweat and become a bit clammy. His heart raced and his breathing got heavier. As he saw her between the fences be felt himself get more and more nervous. He wondered what she would say or what she thought. His mind went into panic. Was this going to happen? Finally, he reached her. Two steps laid between them. He gulped back. Katy turned her head and looked at him. She slid her mask up in her head and revealed a worried and confused face. "You okay Carl?" She asked. Carl gave it a moment to process her question. "Uh- I was umm," he paused and rubbed his hands nervously. Katy watched him. She place a hand on his. "You can tell me Carl," she said with a slight smile. Carl looked upon her face. "Do you- do you wanna maybe y'know," he rubbed the back of his head with his hand. "Wanna be my girlfriend?" He finally spit out. Katy began to blush. She looked down than up at him. "I'd really like that," she said. Carl felt a wave of relief. The two went silent and awkward for a moment. Carl then hesitantly leaned in closer to her. She could feel his nervous pace of breath as he got closer. She slowly moved closer to him as well. The two finally felt their lips touch. Carl placed his arm around her waist and pulled her in closer. Her lips were soft. Perfect by the touch. His a little dry but had a sense of a firm and soft touch to them. The kids was better than anything Katy had experienced before since the world turned to shit. Suddenly she felt the feelings of The Governor drift away. She was beginning to think that life could turn around. It seemed like a dream. Back inside the prison, Greg and Jay were searching the dangerous halls with a flash light and two pipes in their hands. Greg was confused as to why they were here. Jay was searching the rooms and reading the labels on every door he could. The halls were dark and wet. It was like walking through an abandoned hospital or psychiatric facility for the mentally disabled. The walls were stained with water marks and dirt and grime from the aging of the building. Greg finally decided he had to ask his brother. "Jay, what are we doing down here? Rick said it was too dangerous to roam the halls," Greg said slowly walking behind his brave little brother. "I need to find the sports room. We passed the workout room I know the room is close. I need to get a basketball for Katy," Jay said. Greg sighed and rolled his eyes. "You're willing to risk our lives trying to get a basketball for some girl? A girl who already had a boyfriend?" Greg questioned. Jay turned around to face his brother. "They aren't dating. I still got a shot and don't say shit like that. We aren't risking out lives," Jay snapped before turning back and returning to the signs on the doors. It wasn't long before Jay found the room labeled "Gym". He gave his brother a smirk and placed the flashlight under his arm and the pipe tightly in his hand. He took off the chain that wrapped around it and slowly opened it. It was dark. All you could see was the lighting that came in through the top of the walls closest to the ceiling. Jay stepped in and turned the flashlight around the room. He didn't see much. Greg and him headed in. Walking along the edges, Greg found himself distracted by the odd smells in the room. It smelt of urine and decaying animals. He covered his nose and gave a light cough. He began to feel a sensation come through his nose. He quickly sneezed and took a step forward as he tumbled over something. Jay sharply turned and went to help his brother up. He flashed a light to see a leg. He followed it to the wall to see a prisoner with a bullet through his head. Jay glared at it. Greg gave him a light tap and pointed at the other legs beside it. The two stepped back and ran the flashlight along the wall. They observed each slaughtered individual. The scene became too much and Greg turned and threw up everything he had eaten. Jay looked back at him and bit his lip as he rubbed his back. Jay's eyes glimpsed back at the bodies one last time before shoving his brother to the back. They found the storage room. Jay creeped it open to see shelves full of sportswear and balls. Jay observed every last ball until he found what he was looking for. A smile grew on his face as he went to grab it. Just then a decaying arm came flying out from the other side. Greg saw and quickly rushed over before shoving he pipe through the opening and gliding it into the walkers head. Greg have it another moment before ripping it out. "Happy? You got what you want now let's go," Greg said as he rushed his brother on. Katy was finally able to leave her stand at the gates. Everyone seemed happy to see her finally get out of the small enclosed place. Katy smiled as her hand remained in Carl's. Her face began to ache as she found it harder and harder to not keep the smile on her face. Katy sucked up the pain. It was all worth it anyway. Just then Katy and the others turned to see Jay and Greg coming into the main cell block. Katy looked oddly at Jay as he kept his hands behind his back. She watched as they got closer. "Remember when I said I would find you a basketball?" Jay said with an exciting smile. Katy looked oddly. "Yeah." "Well I found one," Jay said as his smile grew. He brought his hands to the front still holding the basketball. Katy released Carl's hand and sprinted up as she took the ball from Jay's hands. She glared at it with a large smile. The feeling of the bumps and lines around it gave her a sense of home and belonging. It was like nothing she had ever felt before. Finally she would be able to gain the feeling from before. The feeling of being a champion. "How did you find this?" Katy asked still glaring at the ball. "Greg and I went looking around. Grabbed the best one too," Jay smiled. Katy looked up at him and smiled back. "So, wanna play?" he asked. Katy nodded and went to head to the door. She turned back to Carl. "Wanna play?" she asked. Carl glared at Jay. "Nah, I'm good," he mumbled. Katy gave an odd look but headed out to the front. Glenn and Terry looked at each other. "I gotta see this," Terry said as everyone began to head out to watch the game. Carl sat there for a moment chewing his lip and scolding his thoughts. It was official, he hated Jay. Carl shook it off and headed outside to see the game with everyone else. His mind flared with anger and resentment but he decided it best to keep it to himself. Katy stood strongly in front of Jay as he stance himself between her and the net. Katy gave him a look. She gave it a moment to view how she would get there. Katy dribbled the ball slowly moving back and forth. Jay followed her move like a lost puppy. Katy was ready to beat him and shove him down to his ass. "You sure you wanna do this?" Katy asked. "Course! This is the whole reason I got the ball," he winked. Katy gave a slight giggle. After her smile she gave it a moment before rushing in. She swerved past Jay with the ball and jumped slightly as she lifted her hands, flinging the basketball forward. Everyone watched as it went straight in the net. A cheer from the crowd began as Katy looked back at Jay and stuck out her tongue playfully. Jay went to the net and grabbed the basketball he looked back at her and gave a half smile. She placed up her hands and motioned them for him to carry on. Jay took the ball and dribbled it to her side of the net. Katy leaned to the side and snatched the ball away from him. Jay turned and watched as she ran to the net and leaped up with a slam dunk. He giggled. She was good. On the side lines, Logan laughed and watched Katy get every net as she knocked Jay down on his ass. It was funny to him to see a woman beat a guy in a sport. He shook his head and kept his smile. A noise came from behind him. He turned to see Michonne and Daryl heading out to the gates. They were going on a run for the Governor. Logan stood there for a moment and watched them in thought. He flashed back to what Michael had told him. He did want to go. He bit his lip and rushed over to them. "Daryl! Michonne!" he yelled. Daryl and Michonne stopped and looked back at him. "What is it?" Daryl asked. Logan paused in front of them and nervously chewed his lip. "Could I- I maybe go with you guys?" Logan asked. Daryl shook his head. "No. Michonne and I got this," Daryl replied. Logan sighed. "Daryl come on," Logan said. "I said no." "You two aren't the only people who lost something because of him," Logan stated. The two stopped and looked at him. "I liked Andrea. Hell maybe I even loved her. I have just as much as a right to go after this asshole as you do." Daryl and Michonne gave a look. "He's right Daryl. He lost someone too," Michonne stated. Daryl gulped back and sighed. "Fine. But get yourself in a situation don't expect me to come running," Daryl said before getting in the driver seat of the car. Michonne turned to him. "I hope you're ready for this," Michonne said. "Lord knows this won't be easy. You got some balls kid."
