Ch:36
Sacrifices
"Klaus you really are a piece of hybrid shi-" My words were muffled as he placed his hand over my mouth.
"You love, truly need to watch your mouth." He growled.
"You have no right." I growled after licking his hand to make him release my mouth. I continued to rant. "You are an ass!"
"I'm trying not to kill you love…trying." He said the veins appearing under his eyes, he was clearly holding his anger in check.
I glared at him but turned my head away from him. The blonde bastard had put me in a fucking bird cage. A got-damn bird cage.
Who the hell in their right mind puts a teenager in a bird cage much less carries one around big enough to hold one.
Just what the actual fuck did he think I was? His damn pet parrot? Should I say Faye wants a fucking cracker?
"Come now darling, don't pout."
I ignored him making him chuckle before he walked away.
The bastard had knocked me out and put me in a cage whilst he got my sister to do his damn ritual.
I was fucking pissed.
My eyes glittered when I caught sight of the clock against the wall. I stood in my cage grabbing my few things as I prepared to make my great escape. Klaus was laughing now, but it was I who would have the last laugh.
Meanwhile…..
"What's happening to me?" Jules cried out as Greta shoved her into position.
Greta smirked. "Faye couldn't teach me the spell to stop you from shifting but she was able to show me a nifty little spell to slow down your shifting in case she wasn't here herself, as a result your insides are trying to tear themselves free…"
Jules groaned in pain as Greta set a ring of fire around her with childish laughter...
Elena glared at her. "Greta, witches are supposed to maintain the balance of nature. It's your duty to them…to keep this curse sealed."
Greta sneered at her. "Someone that lacks magic should not be trying to lecture me. My duty is to Klaus…and then the new order."
Klaus smirked at her words appearing by her side. "Glad to know I still have a dance partner."
Klaus turned his head to glance over his sacrifices with a boyish grin. "Hello my lovelies, are we ready?"
Without waiting for a response from anyone Klaus and Greta walked toward alter that had been set up for the ritual.
"I've got the moonstone…I spent five hundred years looking for this…I hate to part with it."
Greta took the moonstone silently before glancing at the sky. "The moon is past its apex."
She looked at Klaus. "Remember everything you need to do?"
"I remember."
Greta took a deep breath before dropping the moonstone in the bowl making sparks fly as she spread her arms and began chanting.
The magic the circled the air was suffocating…the wind seemed to whisper in anticipation as Klaus moved closer to the werewolf…the trees swayed back and forth almost as if cheering.
The ring of fire that surrounded Jules dissipated slowly as did the spell that slowed down her shifting.
The she-wolf lunged for Klaus, but he was ready and plunged his hand into her chest before ripping out her heart.
Klaus squeezed the blood of the she-wolf over the moonstone and watched as it began to bubble almost angrily as Greta continued to chant.
"Does that mean it's working?" Klaus asked with almost child-like fascination.
"It's working…" Greta whispered softly.
Greta handed Klaus a stake before he began his predatory walk towards Jenna.
He stopped in front of her as she stood to her feet.
"Hello Jenna." He said.
"Let her go, I understand that I have to die but she doesn't." Elena said walking towards the edge of her border before backing up when the flames roared in protest.
"Careful…" Klaus warned about the fire as he gave her a mock concerned look.
"Elena don't." Jenna said.
"No Jenna, he has taken everything, you, me and he has Faye captured somewhere only he knows. We can't leave Jeremy without a family..." Elena glared at Klaus.
"I followed your rules. I did everything you asked, I didn't run! Please…" Elena pleaded.
Klaus looked between them silently before sighing. "Well well…."
He then turned his head to look towards the cliff. "I don't recall you being on the guest list."
"I'm here to talk." Stefan said with a stoic expression.
Klaus looked at the two girls. "Very well than..."
He appeared before Stefan before they could even blink. "What can I do for you Mr. Salvatore."
"Where is Faye?" Stefan growled immediately.
Klaus lip twitched. "I'm afraid my little bird's locked up at the moment."
The veins under Stefan's eyes appeared at his words 'his bird'. "Release Faye and Jenna…you don't need to kill them."
"Who ever said I was going to kill Faye." Klaus said raising an eyebrow staring at Stefan like he was asking him if he was just going to cut off his left arm for kicks.
Stefan's fist balled. "Release Jenna…I'll take her place."
Klaus stared at him for a moment before sighing. "Oh, I don't know…I rather appreciate the symmetry of three women…three demi-goddesses sacrificed in natures alter…"
"Don't play games with me…you get what you want either way." Stefan snapped.
Klaus chuckled. "Quite the hero…aren't you. I've heard that about you."
"Just make the trade…me for Jenna."
Klaus quirked his eyebrow before sighing and walking down the cliff with Stefan following behind him.
"This can't happen…none of it…" Elena mumbled as she paced back and forth.
"What a predicament….you know it's funny all this talk about preserving family…and here's Stefan granting your wish." Klaus said with a smile.
"Stefan…" Elena said looking at him with a frown.
"I'm doing this for Faye." He said evenly making Elena narrow her eyes on him and Jenna shoot them a confused look.
"Well Elena…who's it going to be." Klaus asked her, curiously as he waved the stake between Jenna and Stefan.
"No." She said evenly as she continued to glare at Stefan.
"Don't worry…there's actually no choice." He said before speeding behind Stefan and stabbing him in his back with the stake before breaking off the tip so he couldn't heal.
Stefan dropped to the ground in pain.
"No! Stefan!" Elena cried out.
"Not to worry I have other plans for him. Ones that involve him being alive but for now…." Klaus moved swiftly snapping Stefan's neck.
He chuckled at their mortified expression. "Whenever you're ready Greta."
The circle of fire that was around Jenna dissipated.
"No…" Elena cried.
"Your turn…" Klaus said with a grin as he ignored the doppelgänger.
"No! Jenna!" Elena continued to cry.
"It's all right Elena…I know what I have to do." Jenna said before spreading towards Greta and sinking her fangs into her throat.
Klaus ripped Jenna off of her before she could cause her too much damage.
"Just turn it off Jenna….turn it off…" Elena whispered. "You won't be scared anymore…"
Klaus didn't wait long before turning the newborn over and plunging the stake into her heart.
Elena's cries of anguish echoed as the wind howled louder…
Klaus walked over to Elena as Stefan came too.
"It's time." He said with a smile as the fire disappeared from around her. He held out his hand for her to take.
She shoved past him walking up to the alter and staring at Jenna's body.
Klaus grabbed her face turning it towards him to make her look at him.
He chuckled. "Oh dear…you almost look like your sister with such an expression."
"You bastard…what have you done to her." Elena sneered.
He flashed her a mischievous grin. "Don't worry your little mind about her, she's peaked my interest and like your friend…I have plans for her that require her to be alive…"
Elena murdered him with her eyes and he laughed before sobering up.
"Thank you, Elena." He said sincerely.
"Go to hell." Elena spat.
"Just like your sister." Klaus smirked before biting into her…draining her.
He dropped her immediately after as he felt the change within him.
"I can feel it…its happening…." Klaus said almost giddy.
He even smirked as his bones began to snap to get his body ready for the shift from man to beast.
The last thing he was expecting was to be flung across the quire by the Bennett witch he thought he killed.
Greta took a deep breath but didn't raise a hand to help him instead turning and smiling at the shifter and vampire that she had sensed come to kill her.
"Finally…I was waiting forever and a day for you to get here." She said relieved looking to Ivy who offered her a shrug that said 'sorry'.
Damon frowned with narrowed eyes. "How did you know we were coming, tell me witch!"
"I no longer take orders from vampires…least of all the likes of you." She snipped before looking at Ivy with a smile. "I'm ready for new beginnings…To the new order."
Ivy nodded returning her smile. "To the new order."
With that the shifter wrapped her hands around her neck before turning it sharply and snapping it.
She gently grabbed the witch before she could fall, holding her body in both of her arms. She sighed as she turned to Damon who was watching her suspiciously.
"What?" Ivy asked rolling her eyes.
"What the hell was that? And what are you doing with her body?" Damon growled.
"Nothing." Ivy said stoically before turning and watching Bonnie in action.
"No, that was definitely something." Damon growled out annoyed with the shifters attitude.
As he reached for the witch's body Ivy pulled back baring her fangs in warning.
Ivy gave him a dark glare. "This has nothing to do with you so mind your own business…besides don't forget you need to grab Elena and get out of her, she is your only priority right now."
His eyes narrowed but he went to grab Elena "Don't think you're getting out of this so easily…we're going to talk about this when you get back Ivy." He said seriously before disappearing after ripping the stake from Stefan's back.
"I don't think we are…" Ivy muttered with a sigh watching the vampire leave before turning to watch the scene with Bonnie already having a feeling what was going to happen.
"Elijah…." Klaus mumbled trying to catch his breath from Bonnie's magic.
"Hello brother…" They stared at each other a moment before Elijah plunged his hand into Klaus's chest. "In the name of our family Nicklaus-"
"I didn't bury them at sea!" Klaus cried out.
"What?" Elijah said his eyes wide.
"Their bodies are safe. If you kill me, you'll never find them." Klaus said.
"Elijah, don't listen to him." Stefan pleaded.
"I can take you to them." Klaus said honestly, and Elijah paused. All he wanted was so desperately to be reunited with his family…
"I give you my word brother." Klaus said softly.
"Do it and I'll take you both out." Bonnie hissed, his betrayal already clear across his face.
"You'll die." Elijah said with a frown looking at her.
"I don't care." Bonnie said with tears in her eyes.
"But Faye does...Bon its ok…let them go, trust me." Ivy said making her way towards the witch with Greta still in her arms.
Bonnie stared at Ivy before glancing at the witch in her arms. Ivy nodded and Bonnie to the vampire's shock lowered her hands, and pulled back her magic.
"Thank you…." With that Elijah snatched Klaus's body and disappeared over the wall of fire.
The two turned towards Ivy the moment they were sure the Originals had disappeared.
"What the hell is going on Ivy?" Stefan demanded.
"Now that everything has fallen into place I will tell you." She said calmly looking between the two. "Both of you, but it can't be here and it can't be now."
"What?! Why the hell not?" Stefan snapped at the shifter, who ignored him.
"Where? Bonnie asked calmly also ignoring Stefan as he began swearing.
"Someplace safe…someplace that vampires can't enter willy nilly." Ivy said.
"What about my house?" Bonnie said shocking Stefan and Ivy. "Stefan, will be the only vampire I've invited in and it will probably be the last place people will look for us."
"Ok, we'll meet at the Bennett house in an hour." Ivy said turning and walking away.
"Hey." Stefan called out to Ivy. The shifter paused but didn't look back.
"Where are you going with that body?" Stefan asked her curiously.
"This is none of your concern but if you truly must know, Faye wanted them all buried together…and I plan to do so. See you within an hour…oh and come alone."
Stefan and Bonnie shared a look before looking back at the shifter whose figure was growing smaller and smaller the more she walked away from them.
"Well then, I guess I'll see you soon." Bonnie said, and Stefan nodded before the two went their separate ways.
Stefan was the first to arrive at the Bennett house, the witch immediately letting him in before her neighbor could see, after all the only male that ever walked through those doors was her father…
"Where is she? What's taking her so long?" Stefan huffed as he paced in the living room
"Stefan chill, it hasn't even been an hour only-"
"37 minutes and 23 seconds, yeah I know." He said.
Bonnie blinked as she stared at him, really getting a good look at him. The vampire didn't look like himself.
"Stefan have you eaten anything?" She asked him slowly.
"Not since I've last seen Faye." He said after a moment of silence. "But don't worry I'm fine. I'm just worried about Faye."
"I know we all are, but I still think you should go and I don't know…eat a bunny or something. You were stabbed with a stake…"
He paused seemingly thinking about it when he nodded. "Yeah, I'll be real quick. Call me if Ivy comes before I get back."
"Yeah ok."
Bonnie let out a relieved breath when he left her presence.
By the time Bonnie had taken a hot shower and made her a sandwich Ivy and Stefan had arrived.
She didn't have to sense their presence she could hear Stefan threatening to break every bone in Ivy's body if she didn't tell him what was going on soon, to which the shifter replied for him to have at it because she would heal and Faye would hate him forever.
Ivy nodded towards me before looking back at Stefan who looked ready to blow a fuse.
"Ivy I think you should tell us what's going on."
Ivy stared at me before looking down at her watch, she nodded and looked back at us a rather serious expression on her face if I've ever seen one.
"You guys might wanna take a seat, we're gonna be here a while."
Bonnie took a seat getting comfortable and after a minute of Ivy glaring at Stefan, he took a seat as well.
"Ok, so…where to begin-"
"Did Faye really take the moonstone?" Stefan blurted out. He had to know, it was one of the many questions burning into his mind. He had to know the truth.
"Yes." Ivy said bluntly.
Stefan flinched. "Why?"
Ivy looked at him. "Because the safest place for the moonstone was with her."
"Bullshit." Stefan grimaced.
"Not bullshit. We knew when Katherine got out she would stay at the Salvatore boarding house. Katherine stole the moonstone once, did you really think she wouldn't steal it again." Ivy said looking at both of them but really talking to Stefan.
"Besides Damon's hiding place was not at all creative, posing it as a bar of soap…it only took Faye using the bathroom to find it."
Upon their silence she continued.
"Faye took the moonstone and turned it into a necklace before giving it to me to protect." Ivy said making Bonnie and Stefan look shocked.
"So then she technically didn't have the moonstone." Bonnie said.
"No." Ivy said with shrug. "If we're gonna get technical, I had it in my possession the entire time."
"But then why-"
"Because she told Klaus she had it. She let Klaus take her because she was looking to learn more on the male to get rid of him. She knew that had it stayed in your possession, Katherine either would have stolen it, meaning when Klaus captured her he would have gotten it or he would think you still have it and would have killed you both to get it. Faye didn't want that…she was protecting you."
"How did she know he wouldn't kill her?" Stefan asked with a frown.
"Or anyone else for that matter?" Bonnie asked curiously.
Ivy pressed her lips into a grim line. "She didn't."
Stefan and Bonnie narrowed their eyes. "She just risked her life like that?"
"Did she even think of the consequences?"
Ivy tilted her head arching her eyebrow. "What? Just like how you were both so eager and willing to die without a second thought?"
Bonnie opened and closed her mouth. Point made.
"It was her decision. And while you lot were running around, trying to help, Faye was actually formulating plan after plan after plan."
"Ok, Faye was ahead of the curve, note taken. What is the game plan now?" Bonnie asked.
Ivy opened her mouth to speak when she was cut off.
"Well that depends, are you willing to play in my game, by my rules?"
Bonnie and Stefan both turned to see Faye leaning against the wall casually like she wasn't just hours ago being held prisoner by some psychotic original hybrid.
"Faye-" Bonnie said wide eyes. She didn't get to say more because Stefan sped to her first, threw her over his shoulder and sped out of her house.
"What the hell?" Bonnie snapped glaring at where the vampire and her bestfriend where seconds ago.
"Obviously he's a selfish bastard." Ivy said with a shrug gaining Bonnie's attention. "Bonnie while Stefan's distracted we need to move."
"What?" Bonnie asked confused.
"Now, like right now." Ivy said continuing to pull the witch out of her house and into the night.
Faye's pov.
"You know this is not one of the times I like to be manhandled Stefan." I said casually.
"I don't give a fuck." He growled at me.
I crossed my arms. "So grouchy, what's on your mind?"
My eyes widened in surprise when he flashed in front of me before kissing me. My hands immediately went to his hair trying to pull him even closer to me.
He was merciless, he shoved his tongue so far down my throat I had tears in my eyes, but that didn't stop the excitement that bubbled and brew in my nether regions.
He pulled back after biting my lip and sucking the blood before placing his forehead on mine as we both were breathing heavily.
"If you ever do something like that so reckless again-"
"If that was the punishment for nearly dying, I think I'll go throw myself off Wickery Bridge right now." I said before he could finish his threat.
"That's not funny." He said eyes narrowed.
"Then why are you smirking?" I asked with a wolfish grin wrapping my arms around him and burying my face into his chest in an attempt to calm him down.
"Stop being cute."
"Impossible." I said instantly before lifting my face from his neck briefly to flash him a smirk making him chuckle.
"Faye don't think you can easily get out of this." Stefan said shooting me a glare.
"The only thing I'm trying to get out of is these shoes, they are completely murdering my arches." I huffed and he chuckled again before pulling me into his arms bridal style.
I smiled. "My hero."
"When you let me." He retorted.
I sighed leaning into him as he began walking in a random direction.
"Where are you taking me Stefan?" I asked curiously though I had an idea.
"Home."
"And is that code for your house?" I asked.
"Naturally."
I rolled my eyes. "But didn't Lena just you know, die? It won't look good for either of us if you're suddenly cozying up with me."
Stefan tensed his grip on my tightening. "Not exactly the most important thing on my mind right now."
My eyebrow raised. "How is that not important? People will ask questions, to most of the public you were her devoted boyfriend."
He sighed before vampire speeding to the Salvatore boarding house and placing me on his bed.
"Stefan what's going on up there?" I asked worried about he was possibly thinking.
He looked as if he were about to make a confession when his phone began buzzing. He looked at it before looking at me his eyes volleying between the two before I waved my hand.
"Just answer it already."
"Yeah, I'll be right back. We'll talk about this-us, right after." He said quickly before walking out of the room as he began whispering into the phone. If I really wanted to know I could have focused on him but I didn't, choosing instead to teleport from the room when it seemed like the conversation he was having was anything less than pleasant.
Ivy pov.
"What the holy hell is this?" Bonnie asked clearly freaked out by what she was seeing in front of her.
And her confusion and fear was totally justified, the first time Faye showed me I was thoroughly freaked as well.
"This, my friend is what Faye has been up too lately." I said evenly.
"This, is some invasion of the body snatchers shit." Bonnie said evenly.
"This, is the Martin family." I said walking towards the tip of the chrysalis clearing off the top gently revealing Luka's face.
"W-what is going on?" Bonnie stuttered even as she moved closer to get a better look, she couldn't help herself, she was drawn in by the fact the Faye's magic covered the place to the point she could not only sense but to physically see it.
The shimmering gold and black strands were striking against each other covering the room. Bonnie wondered if this is what a baby felt like in a womb, safe secure.
She reached out unable to stop her fingers for touching the magically strings surprised by at the very texture of it.
"I wouldn't touch to much of that." I warned, and Bonnie looked at me confused.
"Why it's just her magic, if not like it doesn't recognize us."
"Yeah her very potent, very alive, very dangerous magic. Bonnie, you see what she has going on don't you?" I asked hopefully, it would be dangerous for her if she didn't see and understand quickly where she was at.
She blinked before thinking. Perhaps a womb is the wrong term to use. She looked at the three bodies the seemed suspended in the air by the magic that slowly circled around their bodies reminding her of butterflies.
"The Martin's are undergoing a metamorphosis." I nodded.
Bonnie's eyes widened as the strands seemed to pulse some of them wrapping around her fingers. She chuckled. "It reminded me of butterflies"
"Yeah, well I wouldn't get so caught up in the butterfly ideal because it's only partially true." I said my eyes darting around the room cautiously.
"What do you mean?" Bonnie asked still playing with the gold strands laughing as more strands seemed playfully wrap around her fingers.
"You touch too much of that stuff and you will be looking less like a butterfly and more like a fly caught in a spider's web. Get away from there now!" I growled.
Bonnie flinched instantly dropping the silk like strands and noticing for the first time the distance between Ivy and the strands and quickly did the same.
I pointed to the black strands to Bonnie that had begun to build up behind her.
"I-I didn't even notice them…" She said as we watched the slowly recede back onto the walls and floor once she had moved away and no longer played with the golden strands.
"Yeah, big mistake, the gold ones are safe but deceiving. Those are the ones that distract but if you would have been caught by those black ones even I wouldn't have been able to help you."
Bonnie's eyes widened. "H-how-"
I shivered before pointing towards bodies that Bonnie hadn't noticed when she had first come in.
"Where did those come from?"
"They have been here the whole time." I said with a sigh.
She shook her head. "No I would have seen-"
"You were distracted…" I said pointedly making her stiffen.
I couldn't blame her the room was covered in the pretty shimmering gold strands with a few of the black strands mixed obvious to the eyes, but in reality, there were far more black strands scattered around the room. "I told you the gold is deceiving…it is meant to deceive."
"What are those things really?" Bonnie asked her eyes darting around the room, in a more cautious manner.
With her not focused of the gold strands she could see the black ones covered the room like vines, and moved…no slithered, crisscrossing, winding and adjusting around each other but mostly around the three, human chrysalises.
There were more than just human shaped imprints, the shapes of animals could be seen as well…
"And what is this place?"
"Faye didn't give it a name, but I like to think of it as a womb…but you know…not a womb."
"What happened to those people?"
"They died." My eyes looked away. "They…were necessary casualties…"
Bonnie shook her head in denial. "Necessary…no…Faye's not a killer…she's not…oh gods…this is so wrong…"
I looked at her before sighing. "You really need to open your eyes. The world is not just black and white."
"Are you trying to tell me that killing innocent people isn't wrong?"
I cocked my head to the side. "Who said they were innocent?"
Bonnie's eyes narrowed. "Are you trying to tell me these people aren't innocent?"
"They were rapist and murders…nobodies gonna miss those assholes." I said evenly.
"Then what about the animals? Were they guilty too?" Bonnie scowled.
I shrugged. "I call that the circle of life."
"Bullshit!"
"What does it matter now, their dead." A familiar amused voice said. My head along with Bonnie's snapped back to see Faye casually walking towards the bodies.
