Just in case you didn't catch this I own nothing. And for those of you who are about to hate me I apologize in advance. Not really.
Peace, Love, and Whatever,
- S. Nightly
North was surprised. He had done three ice sculptures today and not a single thing had gone wrong. No Jack bothering Bunny. No yetis bursting in the door unannounced. It was perfect. Or at the very least it had been. As he hummed balalaika he noticed a banging sound that he had thought was in his head fell out of tune with him. He knew he would regret it but he had to check.
Exiting into the workshop North found nothing out of the usual. The yetis were all working tirelessly on toys (mostly repainting them) and that was no louder than usual. Hearing the banging they all occasionally looked up from their work or cringed, but they soon returned to the task at hand. North found Phil and pulled him aside.
"What is that noise?" He demanded.
The yeti let out of slur of grunts and growl that made up his roar like language. To learn the tongue require almost an animal instinct and though North was able to translate he was not able to speak it fluently. He had been surprised when he found Jack discussing with them in a large group once. It had earned him quiet a bit of favor among the pole's staff, but from what Phil said he was not very popular right now.
"Jack?" North questioned. "What is he doing?"
Jack tore through his room madly. In the process of searching he had over turned the bed and thrown the sheets and pillows into the floor along with the mattress. As of now he was tearing through he wardrobe. Jack screamed in frustration when he did not find what he was searching for and immediately over turned the cabinet without a second thought to look behind it. North was both appalled and impressed that the boy had so much strength.
"Jack! What are you doing?!" He said grabbing Jack by the shoulders.
"I can't find it! It's gone and I can't find it!" Jack said panicked, fighting to get out of North's grip so he could go back to tearing up the room.
Jack couldn't believe it. How could he have lost something so important? He needed to finish searching, searching until he found it. Until he had it back in his hands Jack's blood pressure would continue to climb higher and higher. North felt as if Jack's heart was going to jump out of his chest as it was yet he had no idea what could have sent him into such a panic.
"What? What is 'it'?" North asked struggling to hold him.
"My hoodie! And not just one but all of them! Red, green , white, purple and Bad Boy Blue! All of them are gone! Just gone! I need triple B North! Or something! I can't go anywhere without one!"
To say Jack was in a panic was a grave understatement. A nuclear meltdown didn't come close to the emotions he was expressing right now. Imagine him waking up, only to discover every single one of his hoodies simply gone without a trace. Even the one off his back! He couldn't even find the brightly colored ones which he swore he'd never wear. Jack had never felt so exposed before. It terrified him to no end.
Jack's eyes were wide and filled half with tears and the other half with fear. North had no idea that Jack's hood was so important to him. Or that his favorite hood had a nickname. At that moment Jack was wearing a blue shirt with long sleeves, but it wasn't the same. North had never seen him so frustrated.
"Cнежинка," North said patting Jack on the cheek. "Calm down, it is alright. You haven't put any hoodsin wash for months, so yetis took them. I saw Phil putting them in the wash a few moments ago."
"What?!" Jack said no calmer than before.
"Is alright. You can live without you hood for one day, no? Now come we have meeting."
North had no idea but he would instantly regret those words.
Jack couldn't sit still. Not even if he life depended on it. In fact he couldn't set a toe on the floor if his life depended on it. He just buzzed about the pole nervously. He tried desperately to occupy himself, but it did little good. Without his hoodie he simply felt naked, his embarrassment reflecting in his blue tinted skin. Jack went from room to room looking for something to make the two hours pass faster. Still nothing. Why did the clock have to tick so slowly!
The Guardians also found it very difficult to focus, namely on their meeting. Jack passing by repeatedly made it difficult to get a word in edgewise. Not to mention his constant flying was giving them all the chills
"Jack will you sit down ya gumby!" Bunny shouted up at the spirit as he disappeared into the rafters.
"Leave him alone Bunny." Tooth said in defense of the winter spirit. "Jack's never been without his hoodies before. Poor thing, I can't imagine how he feels."
Her cold violet eyes turned to North.
"Which it didn't seem like a good idea to take them all without telling him and wash them, all at once, in the first place." She added.
"Was not me! Was yetis!" North whined.
"Isn't he getting a little old for a security blanket?" Bunny scoffed.
"Bunny be nice." Tooth snapped at him.
Sandy sighed. He created a small figure of Jack, a down arrow and then a question mark. As he sighed Jack flew overhead. For a moment he plopped down in the chair next to the Sandman, but unable to get comfortable took off just as quickly. If Phil had not banned him from the laundry room, he would have been in and out another twenty times. No doubt he was about to be thrown out again.
"Just pull one of his hoodies out of the dryer and give it to 'em!" Bunny demanded. "Maybe then we can get some work done."
"Cannot." North replied. "Is industrial dyer, takes two hours for clothes to finish drying completely and the load with hoods was just started."
Sandy created another question mark followed by puzzle pieces, small toys and then a set of cards.
"Sandy's right! Maybe we can try a game, and then get back to the meeting once Jack has his security blank- I mean hoodie back."
"Tried, will not even sit still enough for tic-tak-toe." North huffed.
"Well is there anything that Jack likes that he would sit still for?" Tooth asked.
Sandy and North both shrugged. Bunny rolled his eyes and dragged a heavy paw down his face. He had an idea, but he hated it.
"I got one... Jack..." He said more in a half whine than a yell.
"What?" Jack said dipping down from the rafters.
Bunny let out a long sigh.
"Do ya wanna build a snowman?"
Jack's eye lit up instant. He nodded his head feverishly like a child.
"Of course I wanna build a snowman! But it doesn't have to be snowman!" He said in a sing-song voice.
"Oh fun!" Tooth explained. "Let's go outside."
Sandy grabbed her arm and shook his head. Tooth cocked her head to the side curiously. Jack grabbed Bunny by the arm and drug him off towards the entertainment room.
"We're building it inside?"
North shook his head.
"You will see. You have been busy for movie night last few weeks, Da?"
"Yes... Should I be worried?"
"No, but be prepared. I will get tissues." North said before lumbering off.
Sandy created a picture of popcorn and soda before flying off as well. Tooth was left dazed and confused. Cautiously she followed after, fearing the worst.
Oh! Let it go! Let it go! I won't hold it back anymore!
Credits rolled up on the screen in between patterns of ice and snow. Jack lip synced along with the song, forbidden by North and Bunny to start singing during the movie again. Not that it stopped his the first six times. Tooth cradled the box of tissues. How had she missed this twice!
"That was the most beautiful movie *sniffle*, I have ever seen!" Tooth said wiping away tears.
"Yeah, the first time." Bunny said with a yawn. "But the eighty-second it gets kinda old. Especially when SOMEONE has to quote the movie line for line as we're watchin!"
Jack stuck his tongue out at the insolent rabbit. Sand shook his head at the pair. Tooth dried her eyes trying to regain herself.
"I loved the part with the Scandinavian."
"Yoohoo." Jack said mimicking his voice. "Big summer blow out."
"Oh that's perfect Jack!"
Sandy clapped at the impersonation. He created a small snowman about his head. Jack took in a breath, changing his voice once again.
"Hi! I'm Olaf and I like warm hug!"
"Doesn't sound any different from normal." Bunny jested with a shrug.
"Kiss my snowflake Kangaroo."
"Boys, play nice." Tooth warned as Jack summoned a snowball and Bunny an egg bomb.
North came in just in time. Phil stood beside him and carried with his a stack of colorful hoodies.
"Ha ha! There Jack all are clean now!"
"My hoodie!"
Jack pounced on North. He grabbed the hoodies and flung them everywhere until he found North was holding his traditional blue hoodie. Phil sighed as he started to pick up Jack's mess. Meanwhile the boy flew up into the rafters, doing a small loop as he pulled on his Jack.
"Awesome ! I am back in blue!" Jack cheered doing several more flips. "In celebration let's watch it again!"
"Not a chance!" Bunny shouted.
Sandy crossed his arms as well. If he continued to listen to the songs they were going to get stuck in his head and affect his work. North looked to the other way. He liked the movie, but at the same time...
"Jack I have a better idea." Tooth said getting up off the couch.
"What?" He asked curiously.
"Do you wanna build a snowman?" She sang.
"Of course I wanna build a snowman." Jack sang back. "It feels like the first time in forever."
"Come on North, Sandy, Bunny." Tooth said throwing open the windows. "It's time to open up the gates."
Tooth flew out, Jack flying right behind her. Dipping down into the snow the two sang Let It Go together as Jack helped to build the foundation for a fluffy snow castle. North leaned on the window and sigh. Did they ever run out of energy?
"Come on Mate." Bunny groaned. "They're not gonna to stop until we get down there."
Sandy nodded before jumping out the window and floating down with a dream sand umbrella. A smile came to North's face as an idea came into his head. Without a second though he grabbed Bunny and jumped out the window.
"Are you insane!" Bunny screamed as they rushed towards the ground.
"Jack! Catch us!" North called out.
Jack waved his hand and a mound of snow rose up. North and Bunny slid down with loud screams of joy and terror. North popped up out of the snow instantly as they came to the bottom. He pulled the shaking rabbit up and sat him on his feet.
"Now let us build snowman!" North said cheerfully.
Bunny grabbed a fistful of snow.
"Ah nah Mate, I have ta get ya back for that first!"
With in second a war ensued and the Guardians lost all track of time as they played in the snow. North smiled as he all the stress drained away from Jack's face. This was fun, but he would never touch Jack's hoodies again so long as he lived.
