Rin looked up and out of the shelter of the cave she was practically stranded in. The sky was angry and gray, pouring down buckets from the heavens. It was a happy sight to behold, not like when the sky was yellow and merry. Yet, she still treasured this day much more than those.
Her lord Sesshomaru thought it to rough and miserable out for even him to walk about. This meant nothing more than he was staying in the cave with her for the day, and her heart soared on the thought of being able to be close to him for an entire day. A rare delight, she treasured the horribly foul weather perhaps even more then the good.
A few hours ago he had allowed her to braid his hair, and so she had done so with the patience and grace that even she hadn't thought possible. Being careful not to pull his hair, in case he would use that as reason not to let her do so again. His hair looked twice as magnificent in braids; in her opinion at least. He would wear them proud as he had the other times he had let her, for the few days they last before the fell out or he took them out.
She wasn't exactly sure which one of those were the things that happened; as it never happened in her presence. It was alright if he was the one to take them back out though, as they stayed in for an appropriate amount of time and had already succeeded in making her happy for several days. Though, in the cave and after the braiding there really wasn't much left to do.
On rare occasions, they would nap together, curled up and happily out of the rain like children. Today though, she had decided to speak about her life before him. Not the bad times of the villagers beating her for existing; but her kind mother and the brother she had been going to have before they both passed away.
She hadn't expected him to respond in any way, but she had wanted to share those happy memories with him all the same. She wasn't so little anymore, and it was time to let another know of just how happy she had been. About the happiness that had gotten her through the rough 18 months that followed, until lord Sesshomaru had come into her life.
Yet, he did respond; telling of a little brother who would smile at him even after being kicked around by others. A father who was kind to all, even when being the most powerful demon he had ever met.
They shared happiness in that cave, and later in her life when they shared something much greater, she still thought back to that day. With his braids and eyes of love. With the words and all the happiness of the world.
