A/N: Hello people. I was a bit shocked that I didn't get any reviews for the last chapter... Yeah, I know it wasn't the best, but still... Here another chapter and I found this one a bit difficult to make, I hope I did it right. Won't say much more about it and I just wish everyone a good read.

Merlin was shocked the first time he saw her, he had never expected this... to see her again. It was 1911 when he first saw her, a little girl not older then ten. The last nine years he had been regularly visiting her, always watching her from the shadows, making sure she was alright.
She looked good, happy and she had found a new husband. He wasn't a reincarnation, but Merlin saw that she loved him and that he loved her... She deserved that love.
He sat crouched down in front of her window, he had made himself invisible with his magic in case someone noticed his still figure sitting on the roof. He chuckled softly to himself, he had learned from earlier experiences.
A sad smile spread over his lips as he watched the woman he had once called mother... She still looked like the Hunith he once knew, young, probably the same age as she was when he was born. He had never taken the time to learn her new name... he had never wanted to learn this name...
His eyes shifted for a moment to the little bundle in his mo- Hunith's arms. He knew what it was, or better said, he knew who it was. It was her newborn child, a little boy named Thomas.
Hunith's eyes were gentle and soft and a sting of pain ran through his heart. How he missed those eyes looking at him, those gentle eyes... but now they were for her new son. He knew he was jealous... and it felt horrible.
Merlin's eyes shifted to the bedroom door as it was opened and her husband walked inside. The man kissed Hunith gently on the lips and she whispered a few words to him before he left again, it was clear she loved him.
She slowly moved to the little crib and placed her son carefully in his bed. She tucked him in, ending with a motherly kiss on his head before she walked to the window. Hunith's hand brushed over the fabric of the curtain ready to close it, but she hesitated for a moment. She suddenly frowned and instead of closing the curtain she reached for the window, throwing it wide open.
Merlin stared shocked at her, knowing that she was only a few feet away and he quickly checked if his invisibility was still in place, it was.
But he wasn't so sure anymore as Hunith's eyes shifted from the streets to him, those wise orbs staring intensely at him, those all knowing eyes, he knew that she saw him.
His mouth fell open as she lifted her hand, almost as if she wanted to reach for him, her eyes filled with a deep loss. 'Merlin?' She asked carefully as if she didn't want to startle him.
'You can see me?... You can remember me?'
A gentle smile spread over her lips as she also reached out for him with her other hand, as if she wanted to embrace him, hold him in a warm hug. 'My son.' It was merely a whisper.
He couldn't help, but let tears spring to his eyes and he crouched forward, taking the small step to the windowsill as he practically fell into her arms.
Hunith closed her arms around him, holding him tight as if he was her lost son... and he probably was. Warm tears soaked through his shirt and he felt how his tears soaked through her dress as well.
He didn't know how long she held him in her arms, but he knew it was a long time and he enjoyed every single second of it... How he had missed his mother...
'Do you want to meet your little brother?' She asked him and he looked up, she still saw him as her son.
He nodded as a silent sob left his lips. 'I would love too.'
She silently guided him to the crib and he watched the small child. Thomas was still awake, looking at him with deep blue eyes and he realized they were the same as his own... but these eyes were still filled with pure innocence. Hunith carefully placed her newly born son in the raven's arms. Thomas laughed as he lay in Merlin's arms, his hands reaching for the older brother and Merlin could feel the soft flow of magic inside the boy. It wasn't much, but enough for him to notice... this was the little brother he never had.
He placed the boy back in the crib and turned back to his mother. 'Thank you.' He whispered softly, but before either of them could say anymore they heard soft footsteps. Merlin's eyes snapped to the door and back to his mother. 'Goodbye.' And with that word he took off, disappearing through the open window just in time as the door was opened again.
Hunith's husband walked inside, staring at his wife with a confused look in his eyes. 'Jane, you're really taking your time.'
She smiled back at him as she answered. 'Just taking some time with my little boys.'
Merlin didn't know if the man had heard the last letter or if he just thought that it was a mistake, but he didn't correct her.
...
Merlin watched Thomas grow up and he made sure to be in the boy's life, even though he could never tell the boy who he really was. He was introduced as an old friend of his mother and he became like an uncle to the boy... it was close enough.
Thomas never questioned why Merlin didn't grow old and he never questioned the odd tricks his uncle did... It was as if the boy understood, even when he didn't realize it himself.

The 6th of June 1972 was the day that Hunith died for a second time, but she didn't die alone. Her two sons where there at her side, one still looking as if he was in his twenties and the second one a father of three. She was happy, she couldn't have asked for more.
'My little boys.' She whispered softly against them as she brushed both their faces. It was then that she turned to her youngest child. 'Tom...'The man nodded hastily as he grabbed his mother's hand, tears spread in the corners of his eyes. 'Could you let Merlin and me alone for just a moment?' The man clearly didn't like the request, but he did what his mother asked of him and hesitantly left the room.
Hunith turned back to Merlin as her youngest son left. 'I'm sorry.' She whispered.
'For what? There is nothing you should be sorry for.'
She silently shook her head. 'You're cursed to life an eternal life, one I would have never wished for anyone, especially you. I have never wanted you to feel all the pain you have felt, lose all the people you have loved... I still wonder if I should have allowed you to go to Camelot all those years ago, maybe... I could have protected you from this cursed fate.'
He slowly shook his head while tears ran over his cheeks, in his mind he could see the many memories run through it, the good and painful ones. 'No... you couldn't have prevented my fate and you shouldn't worry about it. I... I have indeed felt a lot of pain, but I would never have changed my life, I don't regret it.' He pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead. 'I will live and watch the earth till it comes to an end... I won't break that easily and I will try to be happy over and over again.' With a deep breath he stood up, looking one last time at his mother. 'Thank you for everything and goodbye, the final goodbye... Thomas really wants to be with you and... I already have been able to see your last moments, he now should be the one.'
Hunith nodded tiredly. 'Yes... will you look after him and his children?'
'I promise, they're my family, even when they don't know it.'
'Thomas knows.' She softly said before a wide smile crossed her face. 'Goodbye my son.'
'Goodbye mother.'
And with those words said Merlin turned around, and opened the door. He glanced once more at his little brother, pushing the man inside...
And he closed the door.
