Mackenzies story:
"How does it taste?" Carlos said smiling as he presented a spoon in front of me with the makings of our dinner.
I allowed him to place the spoon in my mouth.
"Oh my God! That is really nice. I'm going to have to make sure you do the cooking all the time from now on." I grinned.
Carlos chuckled at me. "I wouldn't mind that one bit." He replied as he went back to stirring the pot full of food that was far too much for just him and I to eat.
My parents had gone out for the evening to a friends barbeque to celebrate an anniversary.
"Maybe we could go out for a walk later... after dinner? Be nice to just relax and talk now the weather has perked up." I said noticing that Carlos avoided pretty much every subject apart from 'us'.
"Yeah I would like that... am I staying over then?" He asked.
"If you like, I can sleep in the spare room if you aren't ready to... be close." I said as tactfully as I could.
"Cuddling is cool... if your folks don't mind me in with you." He replied.
I smiled. Cuddling sounded just perfect to me. "I think they would prefer you in with me than anyone in the spare room... it's Savannahs room... all her things are still just as she left it." I explained.
Carlos nodded. "Is that Savannah in that picture?" He asked looking at an ornamental frame on the side board.
"Yeah, that's her." I smiled.
"She looks like you... but... feisty." He said with a grin.
"She sure was feisty." I agreed.
I set the knives and forks on the table ready for us to eat.
"I think there is some wine in the fridge... did you want some? A little celebration just for us... getting back together." I smiled.
"Yeah... sounds amazing, this is done now." He said nodding towards his pot.
I wrapped my arms around Carlos as he stood at the stove. "What's that for?" He asked as he turned around wrapping his own arms around me.
"It's just nice to not feel lonely anymore." I replied kissing him."
"As long as I'm with you macks, you will never be lonely." He said sealing his promise with a kiss.
I smiled at him then made my way to the fridge.
I poured the wine and Carlos dished our food out on the plates. A comfortable silence surrounded us as we sat down. I noticed Carlos looking at me.
"Do I have something on my face?" I giggled.
He shook his head. "No, I feel so happy macks. I'm so glad I came to talk to you." He replied.
I smiled. "So am I." I replied honestly.
"I was wondering... well you can say no and I will totally understand but... well can we go back to how we were... in LA?" He said delicately.
"Living together again? In that house?" I said having the thought of Logan pushed in to my head unexpectedly.
"Yeah... filming starts soon so I won't be able to see you often if you stay here... we don't have to stay sharing for long... the money... you know." He said.
"Your saying you want to buy a home together?" I asked cautiously. I was aware that everyone including myself had a huge payout because of the plane crash but I wasn't prepared to blow it all on a house.
Carlos shook his head. "No... I don't want you to feel trapped after just getting back together but maybe if I bought somewhere you could stay with me? I want you near by Mackenzie." He said softly.
"I'm not sure Carlos. We need to take things slow. I want to rediscover you and you need to come to terms with what happened the same as I do... I think living together again would be a mistake." I replied and saw the hurt I had caused in Carlos' eyes.
He nodded though, then went about eating the delicious meal he had prepared.
"Im sorry." I said feeling bad.
"Don't be. I understand, you could still stay at weekends or something... Logan and Lola will be moving out soon so we will have the place to ourselves hopefully... it will be less hectic than before." he said trying to sell me the good points but all I could think about was Logan being forced in my brain again.
"Are... are they moving out soon then?" I asked not wanting to know but needing to all the same.
"Lola is having a baby!" Carlos said.
I nodded. "Yeah logan said before I left for Kansas... when you were in the hospital." I replied.
"I can't see them staying in that house long... especially with the wedding." He said casually
I almost choked in my food. "Wedding? Their wedding? Logan and Lola are getting married?" I questioned.
"Yeh... Logan went awol then returned on bended knee. They make a great couple. Lola is great, she has helped me a lot talking things through." He explained.
"Still... marriage?! That's a huge step, I mean they haven't been together long." I said in complete shock.
"Longer than us... just." He replied. "But you only live once huh. They are both thrilled but are driving everyone crazy with wedding plans. They are planning to do it before the baby arrives." He said with a smile, happy for his friend.
My insides felt like they had been in a car crash. Knowing that Logan had just jumped straight in to this after saying the way he felt for me, was heart breaking.
I stayed silent and drunk the wine.
"Thirsty?" Carlos chuckled as he looked at me down the entire glass of wine.
"Just in the mood to be merry... los... your right. You do only live once, so if the offer is still open then I want to carry on where we left off... I will go back to LA with you." I replied. Angry at Logan. If he could just forget me so easily then I could forget him!
Author note: tiny little chapter again I'm afraid; still trying to catch up with what I deleted.
