Chapter 34

(Set a week after Olivia started saying at the hotel.)

Olivia stood in front of the mirror straightening out her clothes. She was nervous and the shaking of her hands showed it. But despite the nervous she decided to stick to her plan. Brian said he would come visit her this morning as he had the day off. Brian said they could just hang around in the room, watch movies etc, but Olivia had other plans. Lewis was in prison and thus she wasn't going allow herself to be imprisoned. She turned around and walked to the bedside. She sat down on the bed and started to put the few things she had like her wallet and cellphone into her pockets. Her body reacted to the knock on the door before her mind did. She walked towards the door, took a deep breath and unlocked the door.

'Good morning, Liv. Wow, you look good.'

'Hi Brian. Thanks. Come in.'

Brian, presented her with a flower which he had picked on his way. It had become tradition over the last week that he would arrive with something small, which didn't really cost much, but showed her how much he appreciated that he could still visit her.

'Thanks, Bri.' She said as he handed her today's gift.

She led him into the lounge area of her suite before she turned around.

'Um, Bri.' She hestitated. She hated that she felt that she needed his help with her plan but she also knew that she could trust him.

'Yes Liv.'

'Um. I was wondering if you would mind if I changed our plans?'

'Sure.' He said rubbing his hands together. 'No movies. You want to try beating me at Scrabble again?'

'No.' She looked down at her hands. 'I was wondering if …' She took a deep breath. 'If you would want to take me down the road for a late breakfast?'

It took a few moments for Brian to realize what she was asking. She wasn't really asking him to take her out for breakfast but she was asking him to help her regain something so much more. Her freedom. Suddenly he realized why she asking.

He obviously hesitated to long.

'We don't have to go.' She quickly recovered and turned towards the bedroom. 'We can just stay here and…'

Suddenly he was in front on her.

'Liv, I hesitated because I just wasn't expecting it. NOT because I don't want to. I'd be honoured.'

'Really? I mean…'

'Really Liv. I just have one question.'

'Ok?'

'Why today? Are you pushing yourself? There's no rush.'

Olivia looked down at her feet.

'Bri, I need to start standing up again but I'm…'

'You what?'

'Not sure if… if I can do it alone.' She whispered.

'You don't have to.'

Olivia looked at him questionably.

Brian put his one finger under her chin and lifted it her face towards his. When he spoke his voice was full of emotion.

'Liv, you don't have to do it alone. I'm right here.'
