This is for Guest, Ashhh, AFantasyWorld, levesque fan forever, Leah, Chloe and everybody else who wanted a new chapter.
After their chat the two of them spent the evening on the couch together watching television. Things had changed between them now having slept together but after talking and agreeing that nothing could happen between them there seemed to be an invisible wall keeping them from getting too close but they were comfortable in each other's company.
Friday morning Paul was anxious because his soon to be ex-wife was about to get served with her papers and he didn't know how she would react to it.
Not being able to sleep he decided to get up early and make pancakes for breakfast, it had been a long time since he had had some so it would be a nice treat so whilst Chloe was happily relaxing in her bouncy chair he focussed his attention on making some pancake mixture and beginning to cook them.
Stephanie had rolled out of bed with a smile on her face because now that she knew that Megan was out of Paul's life she was more relaxed as she wasn't about to get killed in her sleep anymore.
With half an hour to go before she began work Stephanie walked down the stairs at a leisurely pace but soon smelt burning and practically ran the rest of the way down the stairs and into the kitchen snatching the frying pan off the stove tipping the well past burned pancake into the sink, "Paul! Are you trying to burn your house down?"
Shaking his head he didn't understand what was going on, "Huh?"
Putting the frying pan back on the stove she grabbed his arm, "You weren't focussed on whatever you were cooking and nearly set the kitchen on fire. Are you okay?"
Almost ignoring what she said he walked over to the doors and opened one of the patio doors, "I need to get this smoke out of here because of Chloe. Do you want pancakes?"
Throwing her hands up in the air in surrender she shrugged, "Sure, if there's any leftovers." Walking to the fridge she pulled out the orange juice to get herself a drink before she sat down on the floor in front of Chloe and gently bounced her chair, "You're happy to see me right?" Receiving one of Chloe's now trademark giggles in response she couldn't help but smile, "I'm glad one of you is."
Paul managed to finish cooking the rest of the pancakes without burning them or the house down and as soon as he was done he placed the stack on a plate in the middle of the table, "Help yourself."
Forcing a smile as she was feeling like she was in the Arctic so she kept things simple, "Thanks."
Eating her breakfast in silence apart from Chloe's odd gurgle or whimper for attention which Paul quickly silenced by bouncing her chair or running his hand over her head Stephanie couldn't be more eager to finish her breakfast and get out of the room, things had seemed so positive but apparently a good nights sleep had changed it all.
Dropping her knife and fork to the place with a clang she quickly got up and gathered together what empty dishes she could and took them over to the dishwasher and began putting them away before she went back to the table to get the syrup to put that away. Syrup in hand she went to turn around to put it away when she felt him grab her arm, "What?!"
"I'm sorry."
Turning to look at him she raised her eyebrow, "You're sorry? For what?"
Paul knew that he had been an asshole towards Stephanie and he hadn't meant to be, his mind was just preoccupied, "I'm sorry for being an asshole and for ignoring you. I'll be honest, I am more than a little preoccupied right now with the thoughts of what Megan will do when she gets served with the papers later so I was unnecessarily rude to you earlier."
Shaking her head she didn't know what to say, "You do realise that you don't owe me anything right? You can do and act as you please."
Rolling his eyes he refused to let go of her arm, "If I was asshole then sure but you're my friend and I'm not an asshole and you don't deserve to be treated like that. Please tell me that you haven't changed your mind from last night and now you don't want to be friends and you're regretting it all or something." Feeling his heart clench at the thought he couldn't bear to lose her right now.
Unable to stop herself she lifted her free hand and stroked her fingers down his cheek, "Don't be silly, I just don't want you to feel like because of what we did you have to explain yourself to me all of the time."
"I know I don't but for this I did, I wanted to. Today is hard for me, I mean really hard, because although I know it's over and I don't want her back or anything this is literally the last but one step in making the end of our marriage official so it is a bit difficult to deal with but I wouldn't change it, I need this for both myself and for Chloe."
Smiling sympathetically she leant down and pressed a kiss to the top of his head without thinking, "I am here for you if you want or need me, don't be afraid okay?"
Releasing her arm as Chloe began to cry he nodded his head, "I know, thank you." Turning his attention to his daughter he allowed himself one more cuddle before he began his work for the day.
Paul had been not so successfully working for over an hour when his phone began to ring, looking at the screen he saw that it was the attorney's office, "Good morning."
"Mr Levesque?"
Tossing his pen onto the desk he relaxed back, "That would be me."
"My name is Kirsty and I am calling with a message to inform you that the Divorce papers have just been served. This is an unusual job for me as we don't normally inform people of this but I have been told that this call will make sense to you so I hope it does."
Chuckling he could almost hear the confusion in the young woman's voice, "It makes perfect sense to me. Thank you so much Kirsty, this call has been much appreciated."
Unable to stop herself smiling at how happy he sounded it made such a change for her to deal with someone happy and not stressed, "You are very welcome Mr Levesque. Have a good day now, goodbye."
"Thank you again Kirsty and have a good day yourself, goodbye."
Hanging up the phone he sat back in his chair with a smile on his face imagining all of the ways Megan could possibly be reacting right now but his thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock at the door, "Come in."
Stepping inside she was surprised by how relaxed he looked, "I bring you coffee. I must say you look a lot happier and more relaxed than you did earlier."
"See that's what the mental images of how your ex-wife is reacting to the Divorce papers will do to you."
Laughing she placed his coffee on the desk, "It's such a shame that the entire office won't find out what a useless wife she was."
A light bulb went off in Paul's head at that idea, "You are a genius." Snatching up his phone he dialled the number for her office building. Listening to the phone ring he grabbed Stephanie's hand as she tried to leave to stop her so she got to enjoy this also. Putting the phone on speaker he placed it on the desk and got on with his work as it was taken a while for the phone to be answered but as soon as it was he turned his attention to it, "Yvie it's Paul Levesque, is Megan in the office today?"
Her finger hovered over the button ready to transfer him, "Yes she is, would you like me to transfer you to her?"
"No no, you're okay thanks Yvie, I would just like you to pass on a message to her for me please."
Picking up her pen and grabbing her paper she got herself ready, "I can do that. What would you like me to tell her?"
Smirking at Stephanie who was perched on the edge of the desk looked confused he simply said, "Could you please tell her that I am sorry that she had to be served the Divorce papers at work but I am not sure if she is staying in a hotel or if she has continued her six month affair with Raphael and is staying with him so this was the only address I could give them."
Stunned by the message she gulped, "Uh . . . umm, will that be all?"
Unable to hide the smile at her clear shock he just couldn't resist, "That is all. Thank you Yvie, you have been most helpful. Have a good day now."
Ending the call he sat back with a smile on his face, "Well now the entire office will know that she had been having an affair, who with and that she has gotten Divorced for it, sucks to be her."
Unsure how to feel about it Stephanie sat there silently.
Receiving nothing but silence he turned his full attention to her, "What? Don't tell me you think I am in the wrong."
Shrugging her shoulders she didn't know what to say, "Maybe? I mean aren't you sinking to her level of shitty human being by doing that?"
She had a point but he had one of his own, "Maybe so but at least this way they get the real story and not some bullshit she will spin them to make me look bad and make it look like she is the wronged party."
It was hard to argue with that logic, "Does it matter what they think?"
"When I have received work through them it does. I don't want them to not refer people to me just because they think that I am some evil husband that kicked her out onto the streets."
Hearing Chloe begin to cry Stephanie stood up, "Well I just hope it doesn't backfire on you but it has made you happy so I really can't say a lot."
"So do I but I'm surprised you are sticking up for her."
She knew that she had to leave but she wanted to give him something to think about it, "It's not her that I care about, it's you. I need to go and check on Chloe though so enjoy your work."
As soon as Yvie got off the phone from Paul she got up to pass the message on, she did not like Megan as it was so seeing her surrounded by a few of their co-workers was going to make it just that much more sweeter, "Megan I have a message for you. Paul would like you to know that he is sorry that he had to have the Divorce papers served to you here but he isn't sure if you are living in a hotel or if you are continuing your six month affair with Raphael and are staying with him."
Everybody surrounding Megan slowly started to back away from her to go about their own job now knowing the truth.
A few hours late and Megan received another visit, "Megan Levesque?"
Irritated she just needed to know, "For fucks sake, what do you want now?"
Handing over the papers he smiled, "You have been served. Have a good day."
Ripping open the envelope she tore out the papers and after scanning them tossed them on her desk, "Fuck off Paul."
Receiving his second call of the day to say that Megan had been served he made another call to Yvie, "Hey Yvie it's me again. Can you pass on another message for me please?"
She had seen the same guy come in and had directed him to Megan so she knew something else had gone down, "With pleasure Paul."
"Please tell Megan that I'm sorry the custody papers were served to her at work but again I don't know where she is staying. Also, as she hasn't called to check up on our daughter since I threw her out on Saturday and hasn't really spent any time with her since she went back to work I thought it was in Chloe's best interests that I filed for sole custody, if she ever decides she gives a damn about her she can seek visitation through the courts."
Unable to hide the gasp as she listened to him as a Mother she was shocked and disgusted, "I will have great pleasure in passing that along. Have a good weekend Paul and give your daughter lots of hugs and kisses from me."
Smiling softly he was glad that it was all over now, "I will, thank you."
Hanging up the phone he made his way into the lounge and smiled seeing Stephanie laying on the couch with Chloe carefully leaning against her raised legs, "Do you mind if I crash your party?"
Lifting her head Stephanie smiled at Paul, "The more the merrier."
Walking over to the couch he sat on the floor beside his daughter, "She is so happy, thank you for everything you have done for the both of us, I genuinely don't know where I would be without you."
Sensing that this was coming from all that had happened today she wanted so badly to put her hand on his arm or something, "Spoiler alert, I am not the one who has done most of the work, it has all been you. You are a good Father and a good man so don't think otherwise."
"You're just saying that because you want to get into my pants."
Risking letting go of Chloe quickly with one hand she slapped his arm, "Been there, done that. Seriously though Paul, I'm not like that and it isn't why I am saying this so please don't assume I am saying it for anything but pure reasons."
Immediately he felt guilty, "I am sorry, I shouldn't have insinuated that. I think I need to just shut my mouth and not open it again today because I have a bad habit of putting my foot in it."
Carefully sitting up she picked Chloe up and placed her in his lap, "I think you need to de-stress and then you will go back to being the Paul I know so as you seem to have given up on work for the day you can watch her and I will start on dinner."
Taking hold of Chloe he watched as Stephanie made her way to the kitchen, "I think she might be right but how can I de-stress when the thing causing me the most stress is my feelings for your Nanny?"
Holding his daughter up he kissed her cheek before he placed her on the floor in front of him, "Let's have some fun just you, me and your jungle gym."
Watching discreetly from the doorway Stephanie felt so bad for him, he was going from stressed to relaxed and back again and she was pretty sure she was not helping because she was sure he was feeling guilt for what happened between them even after their talk.
Closing the distance between herself and Megan Yvie handed over the piece of paper that she had scribbled the note down on, "I'm not reading this out to you because from one Mother to the other you make me sick, your daughter does not deserve somebody like you as her Mother."
Glaring at the other woman Megan shook her head, "Don't judge me, my job is more important than yours is so you have no idea what I go through."
"You're right, I can't judge you but your daughter will when she grows up and she realises that her Mother didn't give a shit about her."
Turning around Yvie ignored the growing crowd that was surrounding them and went back to her desk.
Glaring at the people stood there staring at her Megan shook her head, "You can stop staring now, the show is over, it is only my bastard of an ex-husband being a revengeful asshole wanting to get back at me by going for custody of our daughter but he can have her, he doesn't need to do that."
Everyone stood there with their mouths on the floor, not all of them were parents but every single one of them couldn't believe that she had said that.
In the space of a week Megan had lost her husband, her home and now the respect of her work colleagues and it was nothing she didn't deserve.
