AN: I've realised that my chapters are getting very short. Sadly, there's nothing I can do about that, as i'm already part way through year four in my writing, and I'm not going back to add more. What I can do is post this sooner then I would have, so you all have more to read.
Also, in case you were wondering, year four is when the story really goes AU.
Chapter 05
After capturing Anton Barovich, Two teams were assigned to hunt down the rest of the Death Crusaders, while Harry and Hedwig were given time off for a job well done. They had plenty to do, starting with a meeting with Bloodclaw, at Gringotts.
"Hello Account Manager Bloodclaw. How are you doing today?" Harry asked.
"Quite well, Mister Potter. What can Gringotts Worldwide do for you today?"
"It has come to our attention that there is a very good chance that The Dark Lord Voldemort isn't actually dead, despite what many believe, and we believe it's important to take precautions."
"So what can we do for you?"
"There's an old muggle saying about wars being fought by the media, so we'd like to purchase the daily prophet."
Bloodclaw seemed taken aback by Harry's words. "That is quite the undertaking. The prophet is owned by a number of people each holding stock, the largest amount is by Lucius Malfoy."
"I don't imagine he's going to want to give his shares up easily. What would it take to start up a competing newspaper?"
"Financially, it would take a lot less then buying up the prophet."
"Well, keep working on the prophet, but in the mean time let's also start up a new one."
After the meeting with the goblin, they still had plenty to keep them busy, between more visits to Black Ink, visits to Petunia and Dudley, and spending time with Sirius. The man made no mention to Harry about being an Unspeakable, he just off handedly mentioned that he found a way to go out and still be safe. The news of his escape had finaly been publicly announced, so he showed Harry that he had a bracelet that changed his appearance. Of course, he didn't tell his godson where he got the item.
During the summer, Harry and Hedwig spent some time with their friends, including Ginny and Luna, hanging out in Diagon alley, and going to the cinema. Harry was surprised to find out that Bella was keeping in touch with the Weasley twins over the summer, when she invited them to join the group for their outings. Having them along proved to be a good thing, as the twins were great fun. Unfortunately, not everyone got that. The first time they came out, was with bad news.
"Iccle Ronnie-kins heard we were hanging out with-" Twin one said.
"As he called you 'The great boy-who-lived'." Twin two said.
"He wanted us to bring him along." Continued twin one.
"Said it was his job to join you on your adventures." Finished twin two.
"We told him-"
"To stuff it."
"Thank you, guys, He's really been pushy about those stupid boy-who-lived books.
"He was practically-"
"Raised on the things."
"Then so was-"
"Little Gin-gin,-"
"And she turned out okay."
"It's this group." Harry explained, "They all do amazing things for each other."
"It's all thanks to you, Harry." Sophie said.
"Yeah, after all you are the one who got us all together." Neville noted. Harry grinned at his friends before continuing on with their shopping. The night he got home with his school books, he had attempted to look through 'The Monster Book of Monsters'. Unfortunately, the book had tried to eat him. To Hedwig's amusement, he had transformed into a grizzly bear and taken a swipe at the book with his nearly five inch long claws. The book had behaved after that.
A month before school started again, Harry received the first issue of The Wizarding World Today, the newest newspaper on the market. Harry compared it to issues of some contemporary muggle papers. The layouts were new and much better organised compared to the daily prophet. They were an instant hit. The paper was broken into three sections, British magical news, Worldwide magical news, and muggle news. The magical world today also had a weekly lottery drawing, which Arthur Weasley decided to play instead of his usual purchased ticket of the Daily Prophet Grand Prize Galleon Draw.
Time rushed forward as it always does just before school starts, and soon Harry and Hedwig were saying goodbye to Petunia and Dudley. Dud had decided he wanted to be closer to home, and there for him mum after everything that had happened, so he decided to leave Smelting's Academy to attend the local Stonewall Highschool. He was just saying goodbye when his unspeakable floo lighter began to vibrate.
"Excuse me, I'm getting a call. I need to take this."
He ran up the stairs to his empty bedroom before shifting his voice to match the charm when he's wearing his coat. He opened the lighter and flicked the wheel, then spoke into the flame. "Accept. Blackstaff secure."
"Raven secure." Came the warped voice belonging to Tonks. "Blackstaff, I need a favour. I just got word from my cover job that the minister plans on stopping the Hogwarts Express mid-trip and sending dementors onto the train to search for Sirius Black. I am being watched at the ministry and can't get away, but this can't be allowed to happen. Can you board the train, and protect the students. Also, you know who I am under my mask, so it won't really hurt to tell you, I'm related to Sirius, and criminal or no, we have more chance of bringing him in alive. I don't want him coming across a trigger happy Auror."
The news of dementor's on the train had Harry's head swimming with ideas. "Don't worry, I won't let any harm come to the students or Sirius Black. You have my word."
"And I know how good your word is. Thank you Blackstaff. If there's ever anything I can do, you just let me know."
"It's not a problem," He said, "Now if that's all, it seems I have a train to catch."
"Raven out." Tonks said as the agreement to end the call.
"Blackstaff out." He shut the lighter, replacing it in his pocket, before heading back downstairs, changing his voice back to normal as he went. When he got to the bottom, he saw Hedwig watching him apprehensively, for she could read him easily.
"Trouble?"
He nodded. "Trouble."
