Candy

Today, Peach wanted to try something a bit more difficult while baking with Bowser Junior. She wanted to make homemade peanut brittle for everyone. When she told Bowser Jr. about this, he was very excited because he hasn't had that in forever!

She grabbed a wooden spoon,, candy thermometer and her favored pastry brush. She happily watched as she tasked Junior with buttering a pan. "Mama, why do we have to do this before makin' everything?"

"This stuff cooks and settles very fast. So we gotta move fast, sweetie."

"Ohhhh, okay!"

She handed Junior a measuring cup and a bowl and asked him to measure the sugar while she measured the corn syrup, water, and salt.

They both dumped in the ingredients into a pot. Peach was careful to make sure she handled the corn syrup, knowing well Junior would stick his hand into it because it poured slowly.

She poured out some peanuts into a bowl. Junior sneaked a small handful and gave Peach a smile.

"Oh, i didn't see Junior ran off and was replaced with a squirrel!" She poked his cheek.

"Mama! I'm not a squirrel, I'm a koopa!"

She kept poking his cheeks "Are you sure about that?"

Junior pouted "Yes!"

"Alright then" She giggled.

She gave him a stick of butter to open, and she cut it into squares.

She measured the baking soda and vanilla extract. She had to stop Junior from sneaking a taste of that as well.

Now the fun begins. Peach turned on the heat and stirred the mixture they had already made continuously.

When it started boiling, Junior was amazed with how it smelt already. Mainly because it was just sugar and corn syrup in a pot.

Peach put in the candy thermometer and kept stirring.

Once it hit the right temperature, she said "Okay Junior, grab those peanuts, please!"

Junior grabbed the peanuts, and Peach used her heel to snag his stool and pull it over. "Ok sweetie, you can pour the peanuts in, but don't do it hard. This is very hot!"

Junior nodded, and settled the container on the side of the pot and poured them

"Good job!" She held out her free hand for a high-five and he got so excited he dropped the bowl and smacked her hand.

"Oooops,,," He said,

Peach couldn't leave this unattended so she said "It's okay, just carefully step around it and ask someone to help you clean it up."

As a young koopa cleaned the mess, she said to Junior. "Okay, stand back this is gonna be fast!"

Moving quickly she took the pot off the heat, removed the candy thermometer, and added the vanilla, butter and baking soda, mixing fast. She quickly lifted the pot up and poured it all onto the previously buttered pan. Junior smiled and gave her a clap as they then smoothed it down. "Careful, the pan is hot!" She warned.

Once smoothed, she and Junior exchanged another high-five.

Another hour passed, and Junior called his family to try it.

Everyone enjoyed breaking it apart as a team. Bowser and Peach got one piece and stepped back for the 8 children to enjoy.. Ludwig was trying to break it up evenly while Iggy was just grabbing as many as he could snap off, passing half to Lemmy to hoard. It was just a very loud experience.

Bowser looked at Peach and gave her a smile. "Thanks."

She held up her piece of brittle "What are friends for?"

He tapped it, and laughed a lil.

It was delicious.

A bit on the longer side! Hehe.
