A.N: Short week! I'm so happy! I watched Wolf Children and I can't get over tiny Ame!
Beawolf's Pen: Haha, you found my reference. I think it was explained in the show that she was kidnapped, but my headcanon was the fact that Kirby knew, which we have no idea if he does or not but I have a feeling he does.
16: Yes, she knows now. Your gut feeling may be right.
I don't' own TMNT.
Going On
Callaby sat on the side of her bed, already in her Pj's. Treelore walked into the room and was about to go into the bathroom to get ready for bed when he saw his wife. She was hunched over and looking at the floor, a sad look on her face. "Cally? You ok?"
"Yeah."
"No, you're not."
"I'm fine."
"No, I know that look. What is it?"
Cally knew he wasn't going to stop pestering her unless she answered. "I was just thinking….I wonder if taking care of a human kid would be the same as taking care of four turtles."
"I wouldn't know." Treelore said, walking into the bathroom and closing the door behind him. Cally could still hear him talk though. He said, "It probably might be. Their humanoid, so they had probably the same qualities as a baby. Now that I see the turtles, they act like people. When I was talking to those boys, I would forget they were mutants. The only thing that makes them different is their looks."
"Aw." Cally cooed as she began to tuck herself into bed. "Tree, you are cute when you get insightful."
"I'm not cute, I'm tough."
"Well, compared to me I'm the tough one."
"When your wife is a ninja," Treelore said. "A book written by Treelore Walters."
"Oh, stop it." Cally laid back on the bed and looked at the ceiling with a smile.
Cally closed her eyes and tried hard to fall asleep. But she couldn't. Maybe it was the light that was still on in the room, or the sound of Treelore in the bathroom…..or all the thoughts running in her head.
She was thinking about her question. She really wasn't meaning to ask about comparing baby turtles to baby humans. She just said that to mask the real problems going in her head. Miwa was alive, but under the illusion that Hamato was the enemy. This was heartbreaking. When Splinter said he saw her, Cally couldn't help but hug him. His daughter was alive but on the other side, and being raised by her mother's killer. That was sick. Worst thing was that Splinter was still ok with Cally calling her daughter Miwa. It feels so odd now, Cally didn't know if she wanted to go through with the name. It might be better to name her kid something else. Then there was April. Living a lie as well, what is it with the current generation's upbringings? It's like there was no room for truth. Then the fact that April wasn't human scared her the most. She was more in danger then she thought and the poor girl couldn't get a break. Cally thought she had it hard, sometimes she thought she wasn't human. But DNA alteration literally flips tables. Yet there is one thing Cally knew though and that was she had to be there for Hamato when the time came for him to tell the boys about Miwa. Same with Kirby if April found out about what she might be.
At that moment, Cally felt something move in her, as if something rolled inside of her. At first, she thought it was another of those weird late night food cravings, but when she laid a hand on her stomach, she felt it again inside and the movement match under the palm of her hand. Cally's eyes widened and she sat up. She looked at her stomach and gasped in surprise and happiness. "Treelore! Get out here!"
Treelore heard his wife cry out and in a flash he ran out of the bathroom, thankfully dressed already. He grabbed something from the side of the bed and looked around. Callaby shrieked as she saw a baseball bat in his hands, up and ready to swing at whatever came at them. "Whatwhatwhat!"
"Treelore calm down and put the bat away." Her husband saw that they weren't in any danger and put the bat back down against the frame of the bed. "Why do you have a bat?"
"I'm a very cautious man."
"More like paranoid. There is no need to worry any way. I'm a trained ninja, remember."
"You're pregnant."
"Speaking of which... I felt her kick."
"You-you did-" he stuttered with wide eyes. Cally beamed and nodded. Treelore tackled her with a hug and Cally hugged him back. They gave each other kisses until Cally said, "She's going to be one hell of a kunoichi."
"Kunoichi?"
"Female ninja."
Treelore rolled his eyes and laid his head back in the pillow. Callaby still staid sitting up and fist pumping.
))))))))))) The next afternoon (((((((((((((((
Callaby was in the bathroom putting her hair in a ponytail when she was called over to Treelore's workroom by her husband. Cally hustled over to Treelore's desk where he was working on the home computer. There was a Skype message pop up on the screen saying there was a call for Cally. Treelore asked, "Who is 'HRC3?"
"Oh," Cally said with surprise. "It's the triplets."
"Oh, nice." Treelore stood up from his spinning chair and had Cally sit down on it. She pressed the answer button on the screen and three red haired faces appeared. Three of them, twenty five year old men, said, "Hello Cally!"
"Hey Robin, Cory, Henry, how are you three?"
"Good." Henry said. "We haven't seen you since the wedding!"
"Which was fab by the way." Robin said, almost feministic.
"Thank you." Cally said. "So, guess who I've been seeing lately."
"Let me guess!" Cory yelled, leaning in between his brothers. "Um, Hemsworth?"
"No, but I heard the guy retired from Great Livings."
"Good." Henry said, "Because he wasn't the best deskman."
"No kidding. Especially when he looked me in my apartment when Hamato came out again-"
"Hamato?" Henry thought. "Oh, you've been visiting him."
"Yep."
"How are the baby turtles?" Robin asked.
"Not baby's anymore. Almost sixteen year olds actually."
"Really?" Cory asked surprised, "That's pretty cool."
Henry asked, "Can we visit them? Or do we need Hamato's approval again?"
"Yeah, you can come. They already met Treelore, so I guess it's cool."
"We want to come and visit the baby when it comes so maybe then we can see them." Henry suggested.
"Who told you about the baby?" Callaby asked.
"Your mom," Robin said, "She's a sweet heart, you know, always filling us in on stuff."
"I've been busy, sorry."
"No, it's ok." Henry said, "School's been a hassle. I never thought senior year would be so hard."
"Wait until you get senior-itez," Treelore said, leaning over Cally's shoulder. "You'll feel so lazy you-"
Cally stopped him. "Honey, let's not give the boys any ideas about failing school, ok?"
"Hey Treelore!" Cody, called out, "What's up?"
"Nothing much, I'm just heading out to work."
"And I'm heading out to meet with Hamato." Callaby got up from her chair, letting Treelore sit down and talk with the boys. She finished talking with them by saying, "I'll talk with you boys again, soon, ok?"
"Alright!" Robin yelled out.
"Hey, wait." Treelore stopped her before she could get her purse. "You're going now?"
"It's daylight." Cally said. Instead of grabbing her purse, she grabbed a pack of arrows and then put a sweater over it to hide her pack. "I promised you that remember?" She then grabbed her retractable bow and put it in a back pack. She put it on her back to hide the bulge her pack of arrows were making under her sweater. "There, I'm ready to go."
"Where are you off to?" Cory said, squinting his eyes at the screen. "To a fight or something?"
"No, just need to protect myself."
"From what? Thugs?"
"I guess." She said, going over to and kissing Treelore on the cheek.
They heard Robin from the screen, "What a pair…."
"Shut up you idiot." Henry said hitting him upside the head.
"Yeah, you're ruining it." Cory added.
))))))))))))))))) Later ((((((((((((((
Callaby took a crowed route through the busy streets of New York. Thankfully no one dressed as a ninja or a big mutant creature came out an attacked her. She sighed in relief and took in a breath of fresh air. It was actually a great day outside. Not too hot and not too cold. No clouds in the sky or wind to blow in a breeze. Callaby looked up at the sun and wondered if the boys ever had actually seen daylight. They told her they only ever went out once, to save April from an infestation of rats in the city, a long story the boys still had to fill her in on. Callaby frowned. That was a time of trouble. She hoped that one day the boys could just sit out and relax to just soak in the natural warmth. The way Cally would always do when going outside. She could only dream.
Cally went into and alley and instead of going into the first manhole cover, she went deeper and deeper into the alley until she got to an area where she knew no one would see her. She kneeled down to a manhole cover and opened the lid. She looked into the dark hole and the climbed down as carefully as she could. Callaby made it down and began walking down the sewers. She got into the abandoned part of the subway and was about to make a left for the hideout when she heard someone yelled out, "Booyakasha!" Callaby stopped before the turn on the corner and watched as Mikey flew by riding on his skate board. He landed just a little ways ahead and he turned his had around, noticing Callaby standing there. "Cally!" He yelled. He skated over to her and then pivoted to a stop on her left. "You're here!"
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"
"Well, April hasn't been showing up recently. I mean she told us here dad was having nightmares and she wanted to be up there to take care of him….."
"Finally." Cally said, "Kirby told her about his nightmares, at least he's telling her something."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Oh, nothing just um- Oh wait, why are you so worried about April?"
"I don't know, maybe since her dad is back….she might not have time for us anymore."
"No, no." Callaby said, reaching a hand over and putting it on Mikey's shoulder. "She would always try and make time for you guys. You're her friends and she would never just drop you like that." At some point in the middle of the conversation Cally pulled Mikey into a hug. The young turtle hugged her back.
He said, "Thanks Cally."
They didn't notice but from behind the entrance, Donatello, Raphael, and Leonardo were watching the whole scene. Raph scuffed, "How does he do it?"
"What?" Donnie asked.
"That. Be all nice and not feel awkward about it."
"You mean with Cally?" Leo asked.
"Yeah." Raph frowned, "It's like he does remember Cally and we don't."
"It's not that he remembers." Donnie said, "It's that he's being nice. That's Mikey."
"No, you're not getting it-it's…..argh." Raph banged his head on the turnstile in front of him.
Leo thought about it, tapping the turnstile and then he said, "You mean how can he be nice and not feel about not remembering Callaby."
Without lifting his head, Raph pointed to Leo and said, "Yes. Thank you."
Donnie said, "But you heard Cally, she isn't really expecting us to remember."
"But does that make you feel any better?" Leo asked.
Donnie crossed his arms and said sadly, "No."
"Hello boys." Donnie, Raph, and Leo looked up and saw Cally walking over with Mikey riding next to her on his skateboard. He kicked it up and looked at his brothers and asked, "What's up?"
All three said unison, "Nothing."
Cally raised an eyebrow, "It sure doesn't sound like nothing." Callaby went up to the turnstile and tried to jump over, but her belly having grown in the past few days it was sort of hard to climb over without hurting herself. "Um…."
"We got you." Donnie said. He jumped over to the other side and he and Mikey helped her climb on over the gate. When she got on, Leo grabbed her bridal style and put her back down on her feet. Cally blushed, "Oh you guys are so sweet. Such gentlemen."
Leo said, "Helping helpless civilians is our jobs- not that you're helpless you're just in need."
"Isn't that what helpless is?" Raph asked with a smirk. Leo just deadpanned.
Donnie looked back at the turnstile and then attempted to move the lever. Just like all the other times before, it wouldn't budge. Donnie wondered why, after living here for fifteen years, had he not even thought about fixing the turnstile? Well, maybe because his brothers had always liked jumping over it when they were young, it never really bothered them. But now with Cally coming around more, maybe it was time to use his skills to help her out.
"Guys." Donnie looked up with a smile hearing the familiar voice of April. The read head came up from the other side of the turnstile gate and said, "Thought I'd might stop by and say hi."
"See." Cally said, nudging Mikey, "I told you she wouldn't just stop hanging out."
"Yeah, you were right." Mikey smiled. "Thanks Cally."
A.N: BABY KICK! Yes, I meant to write Robin like that if you know what I mean, but i hope i didn't go over reality on that. Donnie is going to fix something! Like that isn't new. I just love those small little things. I'm KikaKatTIOI, peace out!
