*Ally's POV*

I sighed as I pulled the key out of the ignition. Time to start yet another week of school. Yay. That was total and complete sarcasm, in case you didn't pick that up. Come on Ally, you can do this. You just have to sit through a ten minute homeroom period, and then you have biology with Chase. Just the thought of the genius boy made me smile. But then I remembered my next class. I have Calculus with Claire. Then chemistry by myself, I'll eat lunch outside again, study hall (I might even get to see Chase), and then PE alone. I guess my day isn't horrible. But that could all change in a month when we come back after spring break for the second semester. I shook off the thought and got out of my car.

"Hey," Chase greeted with a smile as I slid into the seat next to him twenty minutes later. "I didn't see you this morning. I thought you were sick."

"I'm fine," I assured him. "I just went right to homeroom this morning. I had to talk to Mrs. Thistle."

"Mrs. Thistle teaches homeroom?" Chase asked with an odd expression on his face. "You'd think they wouldn't make her have another class with the whole falling asleep everyday thing."

"I know right," I giggled. "But it's only for ten minutes and she's a pretty good homeroom teacher."

"I hear she's not a good history teacher," Chase said, pulling out his notebook that he was writing in on Friday.

"I guess we'll find out next semester," I shrugged. "I can't believe spring break is only a month away."

"I know, it's hard to believe I've been at this school for almost four months," Chase said.

"Where did you guys come from anyway?" I heard myself say. My eyes widened and Chase froze.

"I'm sorry?" he said slowly.

"I- I just meant where you moved from," I said quickly. "I didn't mean for it to come out like that."

"Oh," Chase sighed. "We were actually homeschooled."

"You were homeschooled?" I asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, why is that so hard to believe?"

"Well, you're so smart. Usually homeschooled kids aren't the smartest, but you're a genius," I rushed to say. Chase didn't say anything and just shrugged. Hmm, homeschooled. Let's add that to the suspicion list.

*Claire's POV*

She's getting information ~ Claire

Just listen to them ~ Quinn

There not talking loud enough ~ Claire

*They're and just get closer ~ Quinn

I can't I'm stuck with little miss caribou shoes ~ Claire

I looked up from my phone and winced when I saw how close Ally was sitting to Chase. Why is he even allowing this to happen? Ally is an awful person; he shouldn't be pretending to like her. Maybe if I glare at her enough, she'll just go away. Psh, I wish. My phone vibrated again with a new text message.

Just listen to as much as you can and tell us later ~ Tammy

I sighed loudly. Why do I always get stuck with the stupid jobs? Not only do I have to watch the guy I like be nice to a total devil every morning, I have to listen to what they're talking about. So not a great way to start my day. But I guess it'll pay off in the long run when we finally destroy Ally and I get Chase all to myself. Mwhahaha!

*Ally's POV*

"So, has anyone said anything to you today?" Chase asked softly as we continued to work on our project. I sighed and avoided his gaze.

"Said anything, no. Been staring and whispering about me, yes," I said. "I'm just hoping something else will happen and it'll just blow over."

"Blow over with the populars or everyone else?" he asked cautiously. I arched my eyebrow and finally looked up at him.

"Chase, I don't care about the populars anymore," I assured him. "I don't even know why I ever did. I just don't want people to keep looking at me like I'm some sort of pyscho until I graduate."

"It'll get better," Chase said, comfortingly rubbing my back. I felt goose bumps rise everywhere on my body from the contact. "I say by the end of the week people will barely even give you a second glance and by the end of the semester, nobody will even remember."

"You think so?" I asked shyly. I was just praying that he wouldn't move his hand. He didn't.

"I'm positive," he said confidently. "And you have to take my word for it because you said it yourself, I'm a genius."

"That you are," I giggled. I wonder if Chase realizes that I'm kind of flirting with him here. Probably not since he's totally oblivious to things like that. He doesn't even know that well over half the girls at this school have major crushes on him and the entire female population finds him very attractive. How oblivious can a person get? "Has Claire flirted with you yet today?"

"What are you talking about?" Chase asked, giving me an odd look. "Why would Claire flirt with me?"

"Uh, because she has a huge crush on you," I said. "Have you really not noticed yet?"

"Well, last week Quinn said that she thought we had a study date and she was 'pretty broken up' that I cancelled after everything that happened with you," Chase said.

"Everything with me?" I asked. "When was this?"

"She asked me tutor her right before you came and slapped me Thursday morning," Chase told me.

"Oh… sorry," I tried making it sound apologetic. In my head though, I was praising myself for excellent timing. I didn't want Chase to spend any time with Claire whatsoever. I know that sounds super controlling and clingy, but Claire is kind of set on making my life completely miserable, so I kind of have a right to be.

"Don't be," Chase waved me off. "I didn't want to hang out with her anyway. I only agreed because I didn't want the populars on my back." I smiled when he said that.

"So, you don't like her?" I asked carefully. I was breaching on untested territory here. I have no idea Chase actually likes Claire or not. For all I know, he could like Tammy. Or maybe Brittney, Tiffany, or Danielle. I'm hoping he doesn't. But then again, when we played 20 questions on Saturday he said that he didn't have a crush on anyone. I hope that's true.

"No," Chase said, looking at me like I'd lost my mind. "I do not like Claire like that. I don't really like her in any way to be honest." The smile on my face grew until I was scared that my face would crack. "I don't like anyone like that, definitely none of the populars."

"Good," I said. My eyes widened a bit at what I just let slip out of my mouth.

"Why is that good?" Chase asked curiously.

"Uh, it's good because… they're not nice people. And if you liked them, what hope would anyone have?" I said awkwardly. Chase gave me another odd look, but thankfully he didn't say anything else on the subject. That was a close one.

"So, what are your plans for lunch?" Chase asked, thankfully changing the subject.

"I'm probably just gonna eat outside," I said, copying down the notes Chase had in his notebook into mine. "Under the bleachers and away from everyone who wants to kill me sounds like my best bet."

"Nobody wants to kill you," Chase chuckled, leaning back in his chair.

"Trust me, if given the chance, I bet over half the school would kill me," I said. It was probably a very good estimate.

"Well I would never kill you," Chase promised.

"Aw, thank you," I said sweetly. Chase just smiled and rolled his eyes.

"Hey, why don't you sit with me at lunch?" he offered. I hand froze.

"Sit with you?" I clarified.

"Yeah," Chase said slowly. "Do you not want to sit with me?"

"No! It's not that!" I assured him. "I love hanging out with you, but… I don't think your siblings would like me sitting with them very much. Or Rose for that matter."

"Well, then I'll just eat outside with you," Chase said.

"You don't have to do that," I told him, trying to fight the blush that I could feel creeping up my neck. "I can eat alone."

"I know you can eat alone. Anyone can, but doesn't it get lonely?"

"Well… I guess," I admitted shyly.

"Then it's settled," Chase declared before I could protest anymore. "I'm eating outside with you." He tapped my nose and an unwelcomed giggle escaped my mouth. I quickly covered my mouth with my hand.

"Sorry," I said quietly.

"For what?" Chase asked. "For that cute little giggle thing you just did?" I was about to say something, but then stopped short. Did he just call my giggle cute? OMG!

*Chase's POV*

Did I just call her giggle cute? Huh, I guess I did. Not my fault, it's true.

*Claire's POV*

I could feel my blood boiling at what Chase just said to Ally. Her giggle is not cute! It's annoying and way too high pitched. I swear the only good thing that came out of listening to them all class is that I know that Chase is going to be with Ally outside for lunch. Well, I have a… feeling, that they won't be alone.
