Chapter Thirty-Six

(Songs in this chapter are "What a Girl Is" by Dove Cameron, Christina Gimmie, and Baby Kaely; "Shy Boy" by Jordin Sparks; "Falling for Ya" by Grace Phipps; and "As Long As I Have You" by Dove Cameron.)

Apparently the fliers worked. A lot of people came to the concert, including Milo Thatch, Sam, Danny, and to my horror, Tulio. A stage had been set up against a wall, and the sisters and I stood off to the side a bit, getting ready for the upcoming performances. At the very last minute, the girls had convinced me to sing as well. I only said for a little bit as it was their concert, after all. We had even changed clothes for the occasion. Catherine wore a spaghetti-strap red dress with white polka-dots and lace, a red ribbon in her loose blonde hair, and red Mary-Jane shoes. Alyss, on the other hand, wore a light blue spaghetti strap dress with white lace, a blue top hat with a white ribbon, and blue sandals. Her hair was done up in a ponytail. I wore a pink tank top underneath a light gray strapless dress with black polka-dots, knee-high pink stockings, and white boots. My hair was done the same as Alyss's, but with more curls.

"We got this," said Catherine doing some awkward movements. I couldn't tell if she was attempting to do the hula or looking like she was trying to swim.

"What are you doing?" I inquired, blinking at her.

"She's trying to dance," Alyss said straightening her top hat.

"Don't be jelly of my gray moves!" Catherine exclaimed now waving her arms at her side, reminding me of the Hindu goddess Kali and her many arms. I laughed out loud, attracting a bunch of stares from the audience and had to stifle it. "Okay, let's go!" Catherine said grabbing mine and Alyss's hands. We went up on stage and looked out at the crowd. The music started and Catherine sang while dancing around the stage.

"On a scale from 1-10,

I am perfect like I am.

I don't need your number,

We don't need your number.

And the stupid magazines,

Want me to change my everything.

It don't even matter,

They're not taking my power.

So over all of these voices around,

They've said enough, it's my turn, let's get loud."

Alyss and I joined her in the chorus, the three of us bouncing around.

"I'll show you what a girl is,

'Cause all of me is perfect.

Who cares about a dress size,

It's all about what's inside.

(It's all about what's inside)

I'll stand up now,

And won't back down.

We're breaking through the surface,

To show you what a girl is."

I took up the next verse, looking anywhere but in Tulio's direction.

"We are flawless in our skin,

Your words don't mean anything.

I'm done wasting my time,

I can make up my own mind.

So over all of these voices around,

They've said enough, it's my turn, let's get loud."

Together, the three of us sang the chorus again.

"I'll show you what a girl is,

'Cause all of me is perfect.

Who cares about a dress size,

It's all about what's inside.

(It's all about what's inside)

I'll stand up now,

And won't back down.

We're breaking through the surface,

To show you what a girl is.

(To show you what a girl is)"

Catherine sang the next bit.

"You are exactly what you're made to be, I swear.

Don't be afraid just to put yourself out there."

Finally, Alyss moved center stage and gave a little rap.

"It's pretty clear that you won't see us on the sidelines.

(Nope!)

We're gonna take it over standing like a high-rise.

(Yeah!)

And if you ever doubt what a girl can do,

Sit back and let us show you,

It's been really nice to know you.

No doubt, we're a force that's undeniable.

(Uh-huh!)

Get together we'll build this house right down on you.

I've got a feeling that we're gonna be there for you.

Sit back and let us show you 'cause the girls are taking over."

The sisters high-fived each other as they traded spots and Catherine sang once more.

"On a scale from 1-10,

I am perfect like I am.

I don't need your number,

We don't need your number.

We all sang the chorus for the final time.

I'll show you what a girl is,

(I'll show you what a girl is)

'Cause all of me is perfect.

(All of me is perfect)

Who cares about a dress size,

It's all about what's inside.

I'll stand up now,

(Stand up now)

And won't back down.

(Won't back down)

We're breaking through the surface,

(Breaking through the surface)

To show you what a girl is.

(To show you what a girl is)

We're breaking through the surface,

To show you what a girl is."

Everyone cheered as we all took a bow. Performing did make me feel better, especially since some people were starting to blame me for everything Siren had done. I just had to keep showing them that I wasn't that horrible person.

Alyss was to have her own solo next, but she looked out at the crowd, nervously biting her lip. I followed her gaze towards Milo Thatch who was clapping and smiling.

"You can do this, Alyss," I said patting her shoulder. She gave me a weak smile as Catherine and I left the stage. We stood off to the side to watch her. Alyss took a deep breath before singing.

"Are you a shy boy?"

Jumping off the stage, she walked about the crowd, specifically around the males, starting with Aladdin.

"We're in the door, I get a smile from a fly boy

He's seen me before and makes his move like a fly boy

I'm sick and tired of them fly boys

It's bye-bye, boy

I'm in the lounge, I get a wink from a bad boy

He comes around all puffed up like a bad boy

I'm sick and tired of them bad boys

'Cause I've got my eye on this other guy

Back in the booth with his boys, he's all mellowed out

And tonight I don't mind me a shy boy

So I gotta know...

Are you a shy boy?

Shy boy...

Shy boy..."

Alyss made her way over to Flynn Rider who flashed her one of his debonair smiles.

"I'm by the stage, I get a look from a rock boy

He's got the shades on indoors like a rock boy

I'm sick and tired of them rock boys

It's bye-bye, boy

Out on the floor, I get the moves from a home boy

Trying to score, his body rocks like a home boy

I'm sick and tired of them home boys

'Cause I've got my eye on this other guy

Back in the booth with his boys, he's all mellowed out

And tonight I don't mind me a shy boy

So I gotta know...

Are you a shy boy?"

She then went around some of the other males in the room: Adam, Tarzan, Phoebus, Shang, John Smith, Phillip, and Jim Hawkins.

"Freak boy

Fresh boy

Slick boy

You're messing with a tom boy

Might just knock you out like a school boy

Crude boy

Playboy

Cowboy

I heard it all before, boy

I'm going out to get me a shy boy

Shy boy...

Shy boy...

Shy boy...

'Cause I've got my eye on this other guy

Back in the booth with his boys, he's all mellowed out

And tonight I don't mind me a shy boy

So I gotta know..."

Finally plucking up her courage, Alyss walked over towards Milo, smiling. At first, he was surprised, but then grinned.

"I've got my eye on this other guy

Back in the booth with his boys, he's all mellowed out

And tonight I don't mind me a shy boy

So I gotta know...

Are you a shy boy?

Shy boy

Shy boy

Shy boy

Shy boy"

Again, everyone cheered, but some of the girls weren't happy that Alyss had been singing to their men. Honestly, I thought they were being ridiculous. Alyss only had eyes for one guy in particular, and he was single. She turned away from him and ran back to the stage, blushing slightly. Catherine and I followed her. It was now the older sister's turn to sing a song, and she took center stage while Alyss and I stood in the back to do the backup vocals. The music began playing and Catherine danced a bit before starting to sing.

"The day started ordinary,

Boys walkin' by

(Ooh, ooh, ooh!)

It was the same old story,

Too fresh or too shy.

(Ooh, ooh, ooh!)

I'm not the kind to fall for a guy

Who flashes his smile

(It goes on for miles)

Don't usually swoon, but I'm over the moon

(He was just too cool for school!)

And now I'm fallin' for ya! Fallin' for ya!

I know I shouldn't,

But I, I just can't stop myself from

Fallin' for ya

Fallin' for ya

Can't hold on any longer, and now I'm falling for you

Now we're goin' steady

He's the cat's meow

(Meow, meow)

He says I'm a Betty

And we paint the town

(Ooooh)

I'm not the kind to fall for a guy

Just 'cause he says hi

(When he's cruisin' by)

He's ready to race

And I'm catchin' his gaze

(Down-low, on like this for days)

And now I'm fallin' for ya! Falling' for ya!

I know I shouldn't,

But I, I just can't stop myself from

Fallin' for ya

Fallin' for ya

Can't hold on any longer, and now I'm falling for ya

Feels like a tumble from another world

Into your arms and it's so secure

Maybe I'll stumble but I know for sure

Head over heals, I'm gonna be your girl...

(Aah...)"

During the instrumental break, Catherine danced around a bit, and when she twirled, she slipped off the stage. Alyss and I froze, fearing the worst, but luckily, Adam the Beast was nearest to the stage and caught her in his arms. Catherine's eyes widened a bit and she finished the song.

"And now I'm fallin' for ya

Fallin' for ya!

I know I shouldn't

But I, I just can't stop myself from

Fallin' for ya! Fallin' for ya!

Can't hold on any longer

And now I'm falling for you!"

"Be careful where you step next time," Adam growled out over the applause before practically dropping her on her feet.

Yup, that was the Beast for you; as charming as ever. Alyss and I dashed off the stage to Catherine's side.

"Are you okay?" I asked, whereas Alyss simply threw her arms around her sister.

"I'm fine," said Catherine glancing back at Adam as we led her away from him. Her expression was hard to read, and I couldn't tell if she was annoyed with what had happened. "You'd better get on stage, Aralyne. It's your turn."

"Oh... Right," I said. Reluctantly, I left my friends to regain the stage. I didn't really want to do this on my own.

"I tried, on my own I thought I'd get there

Around and round

But I was only getting no where

Then you, came along and gave me something

Something that I could believe in, trust in

And I won't go back again

As long as I have you

I can live like there's nothing left to lose

One break, every fracture in my heart

Nothing in this world could ever tear this love apart

They say you gotta take the good with the bad

I'll take it all as long as I have

You

(As long as I have)

You

I've been, spinning circles in this ocean

Stuck in my ways, but you put everything in motion

This time, I want you to see the real me

I wanna open up completely, deeply

I'll never be alone again

As long as I have you

I can live like there's nothing left to lose

One break, every fracture in my heart

Nothing in this world could ever tear this love apart

They say you gotta take the good with the bad

I'll take it all as long as I have

You

(As long as I have)

You

And I realize now, I'm better with you

You got here right on time

Yeah, you were my breakthrough

You are my breakthrough"

The entire time I was singing, I looked everywhere but at the one place I wanted. Unable to resist any longer, my gaze drifted over towards Tulio and I flushed.

"As long as I have you

I can live like there's nothing left to lose

One break, every fracture in my heart

Nothing in this world could ever tear this love apart

They say you gotta take the good with the bad

I'll take it all as long as I have

You

(As long as I have)

You"

Before anyone could so much as put their hands together, we heard shouts of alarm coming from outside.
