Y/N: We apologize for that long interval: a whole week instead of a half of one. And, to make it up to you, we have the next update right now, the one that should have been posted yesterday, if we'd been on schedule. This way, we can catch up on our posting. I hope you enjoy it!
U/N: Here's the second part of the Hikari/Takeru chapter... as promised, it came soon… We'll try to get back in time with our plan by putting two more chapters up soon… but Yamato's chapter comes after the next one… and I'm not sure if I have enough creativity to do so… so we'll see…

Part 3: Crest Digimon
Chapter 34: Hoping for Light
Takeru:
"Hurry up Wormmon!" Veemon shouted to his scurrying friend.
"I'm trying Veemon—really I am!" Wormmon said hurriedly. "I just can't run like you can."
"Guys we don't have time for this!" I shouted over my shoulder. Then I realized how he was a worm… and well… I stopped and picked him up and began running again. "Angemon, wait up!"
"Takeru," Hawkmon said, flying near my head, "I know this isn't the time to ask, but have you seen Miyako?"
"Not for a while, no." I responded quickly.
"Carry me again too!" Otamamon cried out, exhausted.
"Oh fine…" I said picking him up as well.
"Don't squish me!" Otamamon cried out.
"Ow! You pinched me small purple digimon!" Wommon yelled out.
"My name is Otamamon—and I did that on purpose!"
"I know you're name… I was being rude." Wormmon said, "on purpose."
"GUYS!" I yelled, "We need to not argue for now, Ok?"
"I agree with Takeru," Salamon chimed in, "If we don't work together as one then we're never going to escape, and if we never escape I'll never get to see Hikari again, so you all need to be quiet so I can get out of… wherever this is!"
"How did we even get here…?" Armadillomon asked, "I can't really remember…"
"All that matters is that you were kidnapped and thrown into tubes of light. We tried to save you yesterday… or the day before… or—I don't remember when, but we had to leave." I explained, "Then I waited outside for a very long time and eventually came in and saved you—and if you all don't shut up, I'll put you pack in the freaking tubes."
There was a long silence only filled by the sound of twelve feet hitting the stone floor. I looked over the railing and sighed. We were only on the first floor and had quite a ways to go before we would be out of here—and then… there was the rubble. The whole place had shook and so much fell… who did it? And what exactly did they do? I liked to think that it was just Gotsumon doing something by accident, but at the same time there was the chance that perhaps there was something else in here… something angry… something that I didn't want to see.
So there we were, running from the room where we had saved Salamon and the others, searching for Angemon, and yet unable to find him… he had left before us in search of Karumon and so I hadn't followed—instead Otamamon and I helped the other digimon… but I was starting to wonder where he was and if he was ok…
Our reunion was more than a letdown. I risked my life to save him and he didn't even hug me—he just patted my head… but I knew he had his reasons, and that reason was to save me from Karumon, but hopefully once he destroys Karumon once and for all—if he can… he'd better be able to… oh my—then we'll have a proper reunion… but only if I find him first. If only there was a way that someone could look ahead for us and instruct us on where to go to find him…
"HAWKMON!" I yelled suddenly, stopping in my tracks, and watching hilariously as the digimon surrounding me tried to stop running, and instead coming to a sliding halt, and then spinning on the spot and coming back to me.
"Yes Takeru?" Hawkmon said quickly.
"I need you to fly ahead. I need you to locate Angemon for me…. Ok?" I asked him as politely as I could muster.
"Good idea Takeru—I'll be back in a flash." Hawkmon said, flying out, over the railing and up the center of the mountain… or volcano—Mountcano.
I decided it would be best if we didn't move from the spot we were at in case Hawkmon couldn't find us, and besides we might have been heading the complete wrong way—and I didn't want to backtrack too much. So I set Otamamon and Wormmon down and the five digimon immediately started to converse about where they thought everyone else was. Otamamon and Veemon seemed to get along particularity well and even separated from the rest of the group to speak. I smiled at them for a moment, but then let my smile fall… Veemon had all of his friends here—well, besides Daisuke… and I didn't have any of mine… not one—oh wait… except for Otamamon… he was my friend now… I think.
I turned to say something to Armadillomon who was heading off the way we had come and suddenly noticed that the door to the darkness at the bottom of the mountcano was open a crack. I had to close it… something about it… I just knew it had to be closed!
"Wait right here… ok guys?" I suggested, but had a feeling they wouldn't obey. I took a running jump over the railing and landed smoothly—I would have done so even if we weren't in the digital world—it wasn't far down.
I ran toward the door and grabbed the handle and immediately froze… the handle was cold—but not temperature wise… it was cold in spirit almost… it was evil—and most likely that meant whatever was inside was evil.
I poked my head inside.
"Takeru—you've come to see me?"
"Not a chance…" I said recognizing the voice immediately and slamming the door and then locking it. I was not in the mood to play with him… I would be more willing to spend another day with Puppetmon…
Hikari:
"Light child… you need to not run from me, this is getting old." Kiboumon smirked behind me as I ran for my life. I had been running and finding staircases for a solid ten minutes… I was at least six floors up, and Kiboumon was still chasing me—and seemingly not growing tired at all… which would have been fine if I too had endless energy, but at that moment I was so exhausted that I wanted to let him kill me… but I couldn't give up… I has been getting closer to Angemon… I even saw him twice!
I looked over my shoulder briefly and saw that Kiboumon was gone, and when I turned back to face the stairs I was climbing, he was right in front of me.
I quickly pushed him out of my way and tried to continue running, but he stuck his scythe out in front of me and I tripped and smashed my head into a wall, and fell down a couple of stairs.
"Finally… you've stopped running." Kiboumon said smiling. "You know, I was really hoping for either you or my own digidestined to be the first I was to kill… and then you just came to me. And I am ever so grateful."
"Your own digidestined?" I asked, rubbing my head which was now bleeding slightly. "I hope you don't mean Takeru."
"The child of hope, yes." He said proudly, "That is exactly what I mean."
"He isn't your digidestined—he already has a digimon, and his digimon doesn't want to kill you." I told him, and he started to get angry, "And besides…" I said this as I slowly pulled myself up a stair, "Takeru is too good to even set eyes on the likes of you."
The thin curling smile that had been plastered onto Kiboumon's face suddenly turned into a frown—not a sad frown, but a noticeably angry frown that made me want to hide in terror.
"You will pay for what you have done." Kiboumon said, holding up his scythe. I got to my feet and ran, wobbly, up the rest of the stairs and threw open the door. "Get back here… now!" Kiboumon roared.
He was faster now… and angrier—he was going to catch me… it almost seemed like I had lost hope completely… and losing hope meant losing Takeru—and I was not ok with that! There was always a way out of these situations… I just had to find it.
"RAH!" I heard Kiboumon scream in his squeaky voice from behind me. Suddenly a strong gust of wind rushed past me, presumably Kiboumon's doing, and it lifted me into the air and sent me flying, and spinning roughly in the air. I tried to stay strong, but a scream escaped my lips before I could stop it. I shut my eyes tight in anticipation of the collision.
And suddenly I was wrapped in someone's arms—someone had caught me! My initial thought was that it would have been Taichi—but he wouldn't even speak to me anymore, let alone save my life—and then I saw strands of long blonde hair—Takeru!
I looked up to his face and frowned for a second, noticing that it was Angemon, but then my smile came back brighter than ever—if Angemon was here, then so was Takeru—and besides, I was in need of a little digital assistance in the meantime.
"Thank you Angemon!" I cried out, hugging him tightly.
He set me down gently and flew off towards Kiboumon and suddenly another form rushed past me—I wasn't sure what it was at first but when it stopped moving and began to creep up on Angemon, who was now fighting Kiboumon's scythe with his own staff I got a good look at it.
"Angemon! The caveman is behind you!" I screamed.
The caveman slowly turned his head around and glared at me. "What is with you pathetic digidestined and thinking I am a man? Firstly, I'm not—and secondly—what do you call these?" it was pointing to it's face, "They're petals! PETALS! I'm a freaking flower!"
"I'm sorry…" I said slowly as it advanced upon me.
"Who are you anyway…? Why are you here as well? I could have sworn there was just the one human… and you are much more feminine than the last—also you are more filled with fear…" The caveflower was saying. "Answer me!"
"My name is Hikari—I'm looking for my friend!" I said suddenly.
"Hikari!" Angemon cried out, swooping forward and grabbing the flower and throwing it toward Kiboumon. The two digimon collided and helped each other back to their feet.
They both looked incredibly angry as they advanced upon us. Angemon stood in front of me protecting me, and I was unable to see anything. Suddenly though a familiar voice filled the air.
"Angemon!" it said.
"Hawkmon go! It isn't safe!" Angemon said loudly.
I wanted to poke my head out and tell Hawkmon that Miyako was here, but by the time I had done so, Hawkmon was gone, so I resumed being hidden by Angemon.
"Do you have any idea how unlucky you are?" Kiboumon said in his squeaky voice.
"Very, very unlucky." The Caveflower continued.
"Never mix hope and light." Kiboumon laughed. And I instantly thought about Takeru and I… why would you not mix them?
"Hope and light are like a two piece puzzle. They're beautiful apart, but once their together, they are even more so. And more powerful too."
"A powerful puzzle?" Kiboumon asked.
"Oh hush up Kiboumon!"
"You got it Karumon." Kiboumon said, "Now, we shall attack you. And you will probably die."
Takeru:
"Takeru! Takeru!" Hawkmon cried out, "He's up there!"
I was already almost to the third floor by then, because I realized that finding Angemon was not as important as getting out of this place alive—only because I had complete faith in him to win that fight and escape on his own, but at the news that I was on my way… well, I wasn't planning on leaving him now. And besides… after the tenth floor there was rarely any floor to walk on at all due to whatever had destroyed the mountcano.
"Where?" I asked quickly.
"Three floors up!" Hawkmon responded quickly. I nodded and started running, already having picked up Otamamon and Wormmon.
After a good five minutes we were on the fifth floor, but we couldn't find the door that led to stairs, we opened every one and couldn't find how to get up. "Hawkmon, you take Veemon and Armadillomon that way and open all the doors. If you find stairs call out. I'll take Wormmon, Salamon and Otamamon this way."
"We've already looked in every door!" Veemon whined.
"I know!" I screamed, "I know… but we need to keep looking! We need to find Angemon and get out of here…"
"It's ok Takeru…" Armadillomon said, "We'll get out of here… stay calm."
I nodded, "Right… sorry guys… I'm just really stressed out right now… GO!"
Hawkmon, Veemon and Armadillomon shot off quickly as I opened as many doors as I could. None of them were opening to a set of stairs…
"Maybe it's like the jumping thing?" Otamamon suggested. "You couldn't jump because you needed hope."
I stared at him in shock—firstly because I wasn't sure how he knew that… secondly because I was just really impressed with his idea.
I stared at a door and opened it, revealing nothing but an empty cell. I closed it again and closed my eyes as well. I thought about Angemon… and Hikari… and even Yamato—I thought about how the hope had reunited me with my best friend… and how I had saved my friends digimon… and how everything was working out perfectly alright… and how everything always did end up ok… I opened my eyes suddenly and pulled the door open. "YES!" I ran up the stairs I found inside, forgetting to call out to Veemon, Hawkmon and Armadillomon.
Hikari:
Angemon fought valiantly with Kiboumon and Karumon, but he wasn't going to win… they just kept using the same attack over and over again—and it was a lame attack too—it didn't have a name… they just held out their hands and sent waves of yellow and pink light toward Angemon who tried to dodge them, but was always unable to.
Then suddenly a door nearby swung open and Salamon ran out. My initial reaction was confusion—where had she come from? Why was she here? But at the same time—I really didn't care!
I ran forward and picked her up into my arms.
"Hikari!" She cried out as I hugged her, "Hikari I missed you a lot!"
"I missed you too Salamon…" I said gently. I slowly set her down and turned back toward Kiboumon and Karumon. "Angemon needs your help. Are you ready?"
"You bet!" She cried out. I was so excited as I pulled my digivice out and as it began to glow… I was not used to this any more—and at the same time… I wished she didn't have to. "Salamon digivolve to… Gatomon!"
Gatomon ran toward Angemon to help him fight and I watched, smiling for a moment until someone tapped me on the shoulder. With a slight squeak I spun around in fear and suddenly all that fear was gone…
I placed my hands on his cheeks—just to be sure he was really there… I let my hands fall to his shoulders and then to his chest where I grabbed his shirt in almost anger, all the while, never taking my eyes away from his. Suddenly I threw my arms around his neck and hugged him tightly. I felt his arms wrap around my waist as he lifted my off the ground.
"Takeru…" I said slowly into his ear. "You're ok!"
"Have I ever not been ok?" He laughed.
I laughed with him and released his neck. "We have a battle to win."
"You so just ruined that moment." He laughed again.
"That's alright, we'll have another moment after we win this battle." I smiled at him as he let his arms fall. "Go get them Gatomon!"
"Angemon! You can do it!" Takeru cried out as Wormmon and Otamamon peeked around his legs.
"Hand of fate!" Angemon cried out.
"Cat laser!" Gatomon screamed an attack I had never heard before and sent pink lasers from her round blue eyes.
Kiboumon and Karumon both shot their coloured lights again and the four attacks exploded in the center.
A cloud of smoke ensued and there was no sound as it began to fade. No one was even breathing.
Suddenly Angemon punched the air again and silently shot his "hand of fate" and then Gatomon ran forward and not so silently…
"LIGHTNING CLAW!" She screamed.
The smoke faded more and Kiboumon and Karumon were both visibly soaring toward Angemon who slid out of the way and then hit Kiboumon over the head with his staff as Gatomon soared into the air and punched Karumon.
Angemon and Gatomon backed up and shot their "hand of fate" and "Cat laser" at Karumon and Kiboumon respectively.
The two enemies burst into tiny balls of pink and yellow light that soared together to form two large ones of the same colour. They shot toward Takeru and I. Neither of us seemed outwardly affected by the light but at the same time I knew the light was back on…
I ran forward and fell to my knees in front of Gatomon and held her in my arms. "I love you Gatomon!"
"Hikari…" Gatomon said simply, hugging me.
I looked over to see Takeru hugging a glowing Angemon who slowly turned back into Patamon while the hug ensued.
After a brief moment Takeru asked, "Where's our moment now?"
"We already had a moment." I told him smiling, "You had one with Patamon and I had one with Gatomon."
Takeru laughed, but I could tell he was slightly disappointed.
Next time on Digimon Adventure 03: FINALLY you get the Daiorkenyako chapter!
