Dancing in the Rain

"Ffffuuuuu-" she sighed heavily as her teeth chattered together in the cold wet night air. It had been pouring almost the entire day as the girls rode on Mydnight's back toward the next town. They had considered stopping to camp but in the end the discussion had led to them thinking they should keep going and rest at the town instead. The farther and farther they went however the more they regretted their decision.

The rain was hard on their backs, Ambur leaning forward with Olivier leaning down in front of her on Mydnight's back. This position mostly shielded the rain from falling directly onto Olivier but over the course of the day as Mydnight grew more and more saturated she had become just as wet as her friends, having been sandwiched between them for hours at a time, only taking short breaks for Mydnight to rest and for them to stretch their legs.

Not to mention that it was still spring time and they were tearing through the northern region of Mistral, the cold night air clinging to them as Mydnight tore through it at top speed. They had dumped their winter clothing far back along their journey at this point and only had one jacket each to rely on as they experienced nearly freezing temperatures. Their Aura's were working overtime to try and keep them warm enough to keep going but an all day trek they were all running low on Aura at this point.

Well that is, except for Mydnight of course. Despite being soaked his fur was still more than enough to keep him warm on top of the fact that he was running as fast as he could. Every time he exhaled a huge plume of steam would exit his mouth as his hot breath hit the cold air. 'How do you do it,' Ambur thought to herself as she looked forward into the back of her boyfriends head, bobbing up and down as he ran. She had to squint against the heavy rain to do so but for a brief moment at least she felt warmer as she smiled, ever impressed by his strength.

This only lasted a moment however, for in her moment of weakness she had forgotten to breath through her mouth as she had been for hours now, taking in a large breath of air through her nose and nearly gagging. She felt Olivier let out a small chuckle from underneath her.

"Breathed in through your nose again huh?" Liv teased. This time it was Mydnight's turn to laugh, though he could only do so inside his own head.

That was the other thing that had made the trip so hard. Riding on Mydnight was nice and all but after an entire day of sprinting in the rain he absolutely wreaked. This had given a new definition to the smell of wet dog and had quickly turned the girls into mouth breathers hours earlier when the smell first came up. Ambur pinched her fingers over her nose, forcing herself to breath through her mouth again before replying. "Man we gotta be close by now right? Hot showers better be in our near future," she forced out very nasally.

Moments later she looked up again and could swear she saw a light in the distance. "Oh thank god," Liv sighed as they got closer and closer seeing that the light was coming from a lantern mounted over the road with several more in the distance. As they made it to the first one they could see a large wall in the distance down the road and Mydnight stopped, letting the girls down off of his back before slowly changing back into his humanoid form. As he finished the transformation he staggered, falling to the side and putting his arm out, thankful that it landed on an old road side fence and was able to prop him up. Ambur came to his side immediately to help him stand but in the light from the lantern she found something peculiar about him.

"You fucker," she gawked as she looked him all over with jealousy spreading across her face before seeing him pull his arms out of his coat and holding the coat up above his head. "You're completely dry!?" She half yelled in frustration. She was right, as he smiled back to her with a wicked grin.

"It's a magical transformation Ambur did you really expect any less," he laughed to himself as the two soaking wet girls frowned at him before turning away and walking toward the town's gates. As they reached them they knocked on the gate and a small window in the large wooden door opened.

"Who goes there?" They heard the gate guard ask in the dark.

"Three extremely soaked travelers," Ambur grumbled out before the window was shut and gates began to open and the three stepped inside. As they ran through the streets they found the inn they had seen labeled on the region map and quickly ran inside. As they looked around the room and stripped their sopping wet jackets off they caught a glimpse of a clock. "Holy hell it's already Eleven," she breathed out, teeth chattering again as they began to feel the glow of the fire at the other end of the room.

"You guys go sit by the fire I'll get us a room," Mydnight said as he took his own coat off and draped it around Ambur's shoulders. His of course was only wet on the outside and hadn't spent all day in the rain so the inside was still dry and warm. This returned Ambur's smile to her face after the miserable day as she took hold of Olivier's hand and led her across the room to the fire place, sitting down side by side together in front of it's warmth as Ambur put her arm around her much smaller friend, the coat now covering both of them. The girls then placed their jackets in front of them on the floor, spread out to try and begin to dry them, though surely that would take all night. Only moments passed before they heard Mydnight's boots clunking along the floor as he walked up and sat beside Ambur.

"Here," he said softly, grabbing their attention, looking over to see that he had brought them both a cup of hot tea to drink. "I don't know whats in it they are just handing it out to anyone who comes in.

"Hooo-" the girls cooed together before accepting the drinks happily and slowly sipping at them. "Thanks Hun," Ambur let out before looking at him again to find that he has also found towels, handing one to each of them as they set their drinks on the floor in front of them, both girls immediately starting by drying their hair and faces, wiping away any small remnants of the minimal make up they had had on the day before. As they moved down their bodies Mydnight took his jacket from them and let it dry out in front of the fire as well.

As they began to dry more and more and their cups became empty Mydnight retrieved the towels and cups, returning the former and refilling the latter, paying for more tea before the trio headed up the stairs to the room he had gotten for them, setting their backpacks down and riffling through them, hoping to find dryer clothes to no avail, all of their belongings soaked. They at least had been told that each room had a fire place and came with a box of matches in the drawer between the two beds, so Ambur grabbed one and lit the fire place before she began stripping out of her few layers, sending Olivier into a surprised shock. "Ambur what the hell," she blushed out as she looked away.

"What? We are gonna get sick if we stay in these clothes," She says as she sits down in front of the fire with only her underwear and bra on. "Besides you've seen me naked plenty of times," Ambur grins back at her cheekily. "Or does the locker room not count to you?"

Mydnight can't help but laugh as he sees Olivier sigh, turning back to her and slowly following suit, grabbing a blanket from the second bed and wrapping it around herself however to cover up before sitting down beside her. Mydnight pulls out his scroll, his default screen showing the girls Aura levels and their service connection to his own device. As he scrolled away form the page to try and open his news app it gave him the same response as it had on nearly their entire journey. "Well I can actually get local news and weather here since this town is so big but nothing outside a few miles of here. Rain ends tomorrow around noon according to them."

"Well that's good, you can finally get some decent rest. We must have caught up a lot. This storm should have slowed them down," Liv thinks aloud as she fishes her scroll out of her pants pocket from the ground beside her. "Kinda surprised my scroll survived all that water to be honest. Things are built to last," she blinks as she checks it over for any issues, impressed with the small device.

"Ya," Ambur agrees as she checks hers too before setting it on the floor beside her, "Never been caught in the rain like that before honestly." She then turns her back to the fire so she may dry it more and so she may look up to where Mydnight is sitting on the bed, finding him looking back down at her. She winks to him playfully, making him laugh a little before looking back down to the news. "I still can't believe you're dry that's such bullshit," she laughs out as she rest her chin on her knuckles, elbows on her knees.

"I mean," he begins as he is pulled back to attention and looks down at her, "When I change all my clothes and my weapon completely disappear, do you not have an issue with that? Because that seems way weirder if you ask me," he chuckles out.

"Nah the wet thing is way weirder," she laughs back, causing him to laugh harder before replying.

"Well if you have such an issue with me being dry then you know you have the power to change that," he sticks his tongue out at her, watching as her face changes to a more devious expression, her eyebrows dancing up and down shortly.

'Gross gross gross,' Olivier begins to mouth toward the fire as she fishes through her backpack for her pair of ear buds, sticking them into her ears and beginning to play music from her scroll to tune the partners out. The two take notice, Ambur even extending her hand to be just behind Olivier's head, snapping her fingers as loud as she can, Olivier not reacting in anyway to the noise. Ambur turned back toward Mydnight and shrugged her shoulders before she stood up and walked over to him.

She grabbed his scroll from his hands and tossed it aside on the bed gently before she climbed onto the bed and sank to her knees, straddling the wolf boy and pressing a kiss to his neck. "Well as long as shes not paying attention how about we fix this little issue with you not being wet," she smirked as she felt his hands run up her thighs to her butt and grip it tightly.

"If you insist," he replied before standing from the bed, carrying her with him as she wrapped her legs behind his back.

"Hoohh my god," she lets out, "I always forget how strong you are," giggling as he takes her through the open bathroom door and kicks it closed behind him. This was enough noise to get Liv's attention, looking to the now closed bathroom door and then back to the bed where she had left them, rolling her eyes before looking back to her scroll. Moments later the shower would be cranked up and Liv would be ever thankful, once again, that she had thought to pack a pair of headphones for this trip.

"You know," Mydnight was able to get out between Ambur kissing him, "I don't...see...how you getting soaked again-" he is able to fight out before she presses a finger to his lips.

"You know you usually don't complain this much," she smirks as she reaches behind them and turns the shower on and cranks the heat up before lifting his shirt over his head and tossing it aside.

"Not complaining just don't want you to get a cold," He laughs before kissing her again. "But I guess you're not worried about it." As he finished talking he sees she has brought her scroll with her, before she opens her music library and randomizes it before setting it down on the sink.

"Not even a little," She smirked back before the two continued to undress before practically falling over each other to get into the shower, Ambur pinning him to the wall beneath the shower head with ease, the warm water finally putting an end to the goose bumps she had had all day, only for them to return moments later as her lovers hands began to explore her curves.

It had been so long since she had felt his hands on her this way, too long for her to bear any longer. This entire trip had been hell for her, barely able to keep her hands off of him, sleeping in separate sleeping bags, lined up against the camp fires instead of sleeping beside one another. Her body ached for his touch day in and day out for weeks at times between towns. She just wanted to hold him, feeling more and more as if she was failing in loving him. Of course she knew better than to think this was true, the thoughts just crept up on her day in and day out as she was un-able to simply hold him tightly at night.

She knew all too well that he would never understand why she felt this way, always loving her unconditionally. He didn't need sex from her to be happy, another of the reasons she loved him so to be sure. As her mind raced her lips went from his down to his neck, settling into his grasp, wrapping her arms around him in the warm water.

"I love you," she whispers out to him. To a normal human it would have been inaudible over the sound of the water hitting the tiles of the shower but she knew all too well he had heard her. His arms in turn wrapped around her back and held her close as he kissed the side of her head.

"I love you too Ambur," he let out with a smile. It would be only moments before she would stand up and press her lips back to his, moving all of her hair to the right side of her head, her bold red eyes glowing in the shadow filled shower as she bit her lip, hands running down his torso slowly.

As the song changes on her scroll she can't help but smirk at it's irony. "May I have this dance?" she breaths out.

"Always."
