Chap 36

Drew stared thoughtfully at his phone. It was weird hearing Blaine talk about getting engaged to Kurt, nice, but weird. It has just been something he'd never really imagined for Blaine or for himself. After all, the only way of life he had ever known had been here with their mom and dad, being too afraid to even come out. Blaine wasn't to afraid to come out came the nagging voice from the back of his head, but Drew chose to push it aside, as always.

Anyways, it's not like life here was bad, it could be worse. Overall his parents were civil as long as he didn't mention Blaine or anything that might sound remotely homosexual. He hated not being able to be honest with his parents, but he had promised Blaine he would wait until graduation seeing as there was no knowing what their father would do if he knew. Anyways, things were better now with Cameron. Cameron was his best friend, and it was liberating to have someone he could be himself around, not to mention the nerdy boy was pretty great even with his obsession with video games, Doctor Who, and other weird shows he insisted on making Drew watch.

Drew's head snapped up, the sharp chime of the doorbell breaking him out of his reverie. He clambered down the stairs to the front door and flinging the door open. "About time you showed up asshole."

The tall blonde boy laughed, "I'm like five minutes late," he said, ruffling Drew's already messy hair and stepping through the doorway.

"I was actually just thinking about you," Drew admitted as the boys climbed up the stairs to his room.

"Good things I hope," Cameron teased, as they entered Drew's room.

Drew rolled his eyes, flopping on his bed, "Yeah I'll let you think that."

Cameron laughed, sitting beside the other boy, "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm an angel."

"Yeah," Drew snorted, "says the guy who nearly broke my Xbox spilling paint on it."

"Oh my God that was one time," Cameron retorted, "Anyways I know you love me."

"I'd love you more if you'd start up The Avengers," Drew responded.

"Hells yeah," Cameron crowed, jumping up and grabbing Drew's laptop and the DVD case.

The boys watched most of the movie in silence, giving their favorite film the respect it deserved. Drew hardly noticed Cameron leaning into him and resting his head on the curly-haired boy's shoulder. He also didn't think twice about letting his arm fall around the other boy's shoulder. It wasn't romantic, it just seemed right. "Drew," Cameron murmured, his voice serious, "There's something I've been meaning to ask you for a while now."

"What's up?" Drew frowned, it wasn't like Cameron to be this serious, especially if it meant interrupting a movie.

"If you had to choose between Captain America and Tony Stark, who would you bang?"

Drew snorted. "I fucking hate you," he laughed, hitting the blonde boy over the head with a pillow.

"I am offended," Cameron gasped dramatically, "I for one take this matter very seriously, and if you think I'm joking I will see myself out the door."

Drew rolled his eyes, "You're a dick. Captain America."

Cameron raised an eyebrow, "Really? I pictured you being a Stark boy."

"Nah I'm more of a blonde guy"

"Are you hitting on me," Cameron wiggled his eyebrows in a way Drew certainly hoped wasn't supposed to be seductive.

"In your dreams," Drew laughed.

"Awww, Drew loves me," Cameron teased making kissy faces at the other boy.

"Fuck you," Drew shoved Cameron off him with a grin.

"Ooooh you are going to regret that Anderson," Cameron growled, wiggling his ass like a cat about to pounce.

"We both know I can kick your ass."

"That's why I rely on the element of surprise," Cameron leaped onto Drew, attack his ribs in a vicious bout of tickling. Drew tried to roll away, but Cameron trapped him, practically straddling the other boy.

"Goddammit," Drew wheezed, "I give up."

"That's right son," Cameron crowed, relenting at last, but remaining on his throne on top of Drew. "That's why you don't challenge the guy who knows your greatest weakness," he taunted, wiggling around in a little victory dance inches away from Drew's exasperated face.

"Andrew!" Drew's stomach dropped. Cameron leapt off him, practically falling on the floor. "What the hell are you doing," Mr. Anderson snarled.

"Dad," Drew gasped, his voice trembling, "I swear nothing was happening."

"First your brother now you," Mr. Anderson took a step forward, shaking with rage, "You faggots are tearing this family apart. I should have known better than to let your brother leave. Now he's corrupted you too."

"This has nothing to do with Blaine," Drew hissed, his fear being replaced with a bubbling anger.

Cameron moved to Drew's side. "Do you want me to go?" he asked in a whisper.

"No," Drew said, his eyes never leaving his father's, "You stay. Because I'm not letting him control my life anymore. I'm not letting him decide who I can and can't be be friends with or who I can and can't love."

"This has nothing to do with love," Mr. Anderson spat, "This is just you spoiled brats rebelling, not thinking once about how your mother and I would feel."

"You are so fucking stupid," Drew yelled, "You think you're so damn important that Blaine would give a shit what you think! He's getting engaged to the guy of his dreams, and you know what? I'm so damn jealous! Because if it weren't for this I would never have to goddamn guts to tell you how fucking gay I am!"

At this point, Mr. Anderson was beet red and looked ready to explode. "If you stop this nonsense right now, there's still a chance we can cure you."

Drew knew as soon as he did it it was stupid, but he'd never been one to think things through. He kissed Cameron. He grabbed the taller boys shoulders and yanked him down, kissing him as hard as he could.

The kiss was ended quickly as Cameron was pulled away violently by Mr Anderson. "Get the hell out of my house," he hissed, inches away from the young boy's face, flecks of spit landing on the blonde's glasses.

Cameron stumbled away, leaving Drew to face the full wrath of his father. Mr. Anderson approached his son slowly, "You can give up on all those hopes of living with your brother next year."

"You can't stop me. Blaine promised me and even you can't change that."

Mr. Anderson snorted, "I think you might be overestimating that hero brother of yours."

He was gone before Drew could respond, slamming the door behind him. Drew stared absently at his laptop, where "The Avengers" continued to play. A lump rose in his throat as he realized he and Cameron hadn't even gotten to their favorite part. His eyes were burning as though everything he ever felt was trying to push its way outside of him. And then it did. He screamed. He screamed until his throat burned. He screamed at the wall, at the ceiling, at Cameron, at his dad, at himself. He felt like he'd never stop screaming.
