AN: I don't own MI High, or anything else you recognise. I just own Demi, Jamie, Patterson, Kati and Ben.
Jamie's POV
I glanced around. No one seemed to be around, the playground was abandoned. I sighed and flung my bag over the fence. It landed with a thud on the pavement, and I prepared myself. After letting out another sigh, I launched myself at the fence. I gripped onto the metal, about 6 inches off the ground. I clambered up the fence, and dropped onto the pavement. I hissed at the pain, as I'd landed on my knees. As I tried to get up, a hand appeared in front of my face. I glanced up to see Patterson stood over me, a concerned look on his face. "You OK?" He asked. I nodded, taking his hand. He pulled me to my feet, and I thanked him. "Next time, make sure someone's there to catch you if you're gonna pretend to be a cat." He jokingly said. I rolled my eyes.
"I'm not pretending to be a cat."
"Course not, Sanders. Come on, then. Why you sneaking out of school? Maths that awful?" He questioned.
"No. Why do you wanna know?" I replied.
"I'm your friend. Friends tell each other everything." Patterson said, a smile on his face. I raised my eyebrows.
"We're not friends." I stated, starting to walk.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" He called. I turned to see he was holding up my school bag.
"Give it back." I demanded.
"Not until you admit we're friends." He replied, putting his arm up.
"Now that's not fair!" I said, pouting. He shrugged, as I began to try to jump up and grab the bag. After a while, I must have pushed against him. Because we both ended up on the floor. I was on top of him, and the strangest thing happened. He started to turn a faint shade of red, and coughed. "Excuse me, but I believe that's cheating." He stuttered out. "Oh really? And putting it out of my reach isn't cheating?" I asked. He smiled, and said,
"Course not, Sanders." I smiled back at him, and noticed something. I didn't want to get up. "So you feel that too?" He softly asked.
"What?" I asked.
"Like you don't want to get up?" He replied. I nodded, as he began to run his hand through my hair. He mumbled something that I couldn't quite hear. He began to lean in towards me, before there was a loud shout. "Miss Sanders!" I opened my eyes and looked to my right. Mrs King and Mr Flatley were stood on the other side of the fence. "Get back over here now!" She thundered.
"Mrs King, please don't blame Jamie. This is my fault." Patterson said, pulling me up with him.
"Who are you?" Mrs King demanded to know.
"My name is Harry. I used to attend this school." Patterson answered.
"Harry Stokes?" Mr Flatley asked. Oh yeah, I'd forgotten that used to be his name. Harry nodded. "Mrs King, leave the poor boy alone."
"Did you know him?" Mrs King asked. Mr Flatley nodded, and opened the school gate.
"Come in! Let me know what's going on in your new school!" Mr Flatley said. Patterson smiled and took my hand. The two of us then walked back into school, glaring at Mrs King on the way.
Demi's POV
My dad, Tom and I stayed in HQ for this mission, as usual. "We can't hear anything, Dan." Tom said. "Try and get a bit closer."
"Be careful." I cautioned. "That's a message for all of you." They were probably sick of the warnings, but I was worried about them. They were in a heck of a lot more danger than I was. We watched as Dan picked up his wheelbarrow and moved closer, until he was in hearing distance of Monoblot and Carlotta. "Is it safe?" Carlotta asked.
"The bird is in the nest." Monoblot replied. Of course they're speaking in code.
"Got it." Tom murmured as he began to type. "Switching feeds." He added as Monoblot and his companion got up.
"Keri, you're live." I said, as we switched to her feed. The camera immediately began to shake furiously. "Keri, stop moving so much. You'll draw suspicion."
"Pull your hat down a bit." Tom instructed. Keri complied, and we saw Monoblot and Carlotta approach.
"We don't make mistakes, Mr Monoblot." Carlotta replied. "Our agent in the Cupodium plant has done well. They have success." The camera then looked down towards Carlotta's feet, and our audio turned to static. "Head up Keri, we'll do fashion shots later!" Tom said.
"Keri, we can't hear anything." I added in a nicer tone, before glaring at Tom.
"So, don't worry." Carlotta said, as Keri raised her head. Monoblot and Carlotta walked past and Keri began to run.
"Hey!" Monoblot called. I swore under my breath. Did he know we were after him? If he did, was Keri in danger? "You dropped something." I let out a huge sigh of relief; we were OK. For now anyway. "There's definitely something going on." I mumbled. "What though?"
"Demi, it's nothing to do with the cupcakes." Tom insisted. I sighed and replied,
"I am not paranoid. There's something dodgy going on here."
"I'm not calling you paranoid. I'm just saying that this is not a KORPS plan to take over the world!" He replied.
"We've thought that before! And we've always been wrong!" I said, the volume in my voice raising.
"Oh, yes, I forgot that you know everything!" Tom snapped back.
"I've been doing this job for much longer than you have! It's about time you stopped treating me like I'm stupid!" I shouted, getting out my chair. I pushed the seat to the floor, and stormed out of HQ. Once the doors shut, I hit the wall in frustration. I pulled out my phone as the lift arrived at the janitor's closet. I dialled Patterson's number that Jamie had given me ages ago. I'm not even sure if it still works. It was answered on the second ring. "Demietra." Patterson's voice greeted.
"Where the hell are you?" I asked. "I haven't heard from you in forever!"
"Well, currently I'm outside Mr Flatley's office." He replied.
"What?" I asked, a smile on my face. I rounded the corner, and true to his word, he was stood outside Flatley's office. "What the hell are you doing here?" I called, putting the phone down. He turned to face me, a huge smile on his face. "Nice to see you too." He replied. I laughed, and ran towards him. He wrapped his arms around me, and spun me around. He put me down, and kissed my forehead. "How you doing, Dems?" He asked.
"Well, someone's happy!" I remarked. "Who's the lucky girl?" He turned a faint shade of red and coughed.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." He replied, turning away from me.
"Course not. Let me guess, Jamie?" I questioned, as he turned a darker shade of red. "Aww!" I exclaimed.
"You shut up." He demanded, running a hand through his hair. "Is it just me or is it really hot in here?"
"Just you." I answered. "Where is Jai anyway?"
"Getting interrogated by Mrs King." He replied. "How's Tom?" I shrugged, which caused him to sigh.
"You haven't been fighting again, have you?" He asked. Now it was my turn to look down and turned red. He chuckled quietly. "Just like your mother." I glared at him, and he laughed again. "You're even starting to look like her." He added.
"What?" I asked. He rolled his eyes.
"Haven't you got it yet?" I tilted my head in confusion and he sighed loudly. "God, and you're meant to be intelligent!"
"What the hell are you talking about?" I asked.
"Can't you see it? When you look at yourself in the mirror?" He asked. "You are nothing like Amy. Doesn't that tell you something?" I shook my head. What was he going on about? "Demi, Amy is not your mother. You were adopted by her for her psycho plans." He answered.
"What? Are you mad?" I asked, stepping away from him. "You're joking, right?"
"Am I laughing?" Patterson questioned, taking my hand.
"If you're telling the truth, then who's my real mother?" I said. He stared at me blankly.
"I don't think I even need to answer that." He said. "You know who it is."
AN: And I'm gonna end it there! Thanks for reading; I hope you enjoyed! Sorry for my long absence, I've been really busy. I'm taking my first GCSE exam in May, so I've been revising for that. But I'm back now! Anyway, thank you for sticking with me, and I'll see you in the next update!
