Three weeks. That's all it took for Anna and Elsa to realize they could not have it any better, as far as relationships went. They were compatible in so many ways, which was important. But more important were the differences because not only did they have things in common, they also had differences which made their relationship much more interesting; they were like two puzzle pieces that, although different, fit perfectly together.

Christmas was a day away and although she was enjoying herself with Elsa very much for the last two weeks of winter break, she was conscious that the next three weeks that remained would go by fairly quickly. It was nice having her around to herself with no distractions (aside from her parents who enjoyed being with her as much as she did). It was even better not having to hear from Hans, Samantha or Adgar because that meant that Elsa was less worried and much more relaxed.

But Anna wasn't worrying about that too much. Those topics didn't matter then when what she really should be worrying about was Elsa's Christmas gift. She had already bought it, wrapped it and put it under the tree. She wanted, needed it to be perfect. It would be the first presents that they would exchange and somehow she felt the pressure getting to her because what if Elsa didn't like it?

She felt Elsa stir next to her. It was unusual for the blonde to still be in bed at that time. Even Anna didn't wake up that late but it felt nice lying down next to her girlfriend with no worries or distractions.

"Well, you're awake." Elsa said, yawning and not yet opening her eyes.

Anna smiled because it wasn't every day that she had the pleasure of seeing Elsa in such a sleepy state. "And you're not."

"How long have you been awake for?" Elsa fluttered her eyes in an attempt to keep them fully open.

"Umm… Thirty, forty minutes maybe." Anna placed a quick kiss on Elsa's forehead.

"And you've been here all along?"

"You could say that," Anna wondered where all those questions were coming from but then again, Elsa wasn't fully awake.

"What a creep," the blonde smiled and poked Anna's side as she said that.

"Oh please, I've caught you staring at me more times than I can count." Anna replied.

The smiles had yet to leave Elsa's face. She turned over to lay on her back, having the immediate need to stretch. "Lies."

"Hmm. Need I remind you about the way you looked at me when I dressed in front of you two days ago? Or… or," she tried to emphasize. "Or when I got out of the bathroom in just a towel. I noticed the way you stared at me as I walked into the closet, don't think I didn't notice." By now Anna had a huge smirk on her face and Elsa was trying to hide her blush by covering her face with one of the pillows. "There's also that one time we went out to dinner-"

Elsa was sure that Anna could continue providing her with examples because, truth be told, she did spend a lot of her recent time staring at Anna. How could she not? It wasn't just that she was beautiful, she knew that since… well, she didn't even know anymore but she also couldn't stop staring at her because it was hard to believe that Anna was in her life and she was in Anna's. In the spur of the moment, she did the only thing that came to mind. She got up and sustained herself on one elbow while she kissed Anna who seemed to be taken by surprise what with all the talking she was doing. "You should expect a lot more staring then," was what she said after breaking the kiss.

"As should you."

Elsa nodded and then sat up, figuring it was already late enough and it was time to get up. "Tell me something," she started.

"What's that?"

"Do you know if your parents are home right now?"

Anna chuckled before answering. "Why? Are you thinking what I think you're thinking? Worried that we might get too loud?" She wiggled her eyebrows at Elsa.

"No!" Elsa said exaggeratedly, "I mean, yes I've come to realize that you're really into sex-"

"No, I'm just really into you." Anna corrected.

"And as much as I am into you as well and as much as I would like to do that, I'm asking for other reasons." The blonde clarified although with a hint of amusement on her voice.

"What reasons?" With that, Anna also got up.

"Well, your parents have been more than welcoming towards me and I want to do something for them."

"And you need them to be out of the house?" Anna was curious and Elsa only nodded. "Well, I think they're here today but they might not be sometime in the next few days."

Elsa didn't say anything. She only pursed her lips and Anna noticed that she was doing some thinking. "You don't want to do it in the next few days, do you?" Elsa shook her head. "And why might that be?" The blonde walked towards her. Anna noticed all the excitement in Elsa's face and wondered what the hell she was up to. "Elsa?" She asked because now Elsa was extremely close to her and had her hands on her shoulders.

"Let's just say I have a surprise for you." Her smile turned into a grin.

Unexpectedly, Anna smiled as well and stepped closer to hug Elsa. "What is it?"

"I can't tell you, it's a surprise remember?"

"Oh c'mon, you can tell me. Please."

Elsa shook her head and ran her thumb and index finger over her lips, motioning for secrecy.

"I'll get it out of you. Just you wait," Anna threatened.

"We'll see about that, I'm very good at keeping secrets." She gave Anna a devilish smile which earned her a light punch on her bicep. "You should learn to be patient. Now, we better get ready, it's getting late."

"Don't be scared dear, I just want to talk to you about something." Idunn called from the kitchen. The woman had been at the stove ever since Anna and herself made their way downstairs. She had instructed Anna to run to the store and grab something. Logically, Anna agreed and both her and Elsa walked towards the door to grab their coats but were stopped by Anna's mother on their way out. "I need to borrow Elsa for a while honey, go on without her." She had said and both girls began to get worried, although unable to communicate and talk it out right in front of Idunn. Elsa followed the older woman to the dining room and sat in one of the stools after Anna walked out the door. "I know you and Anna are so used to being together but,"

Elsa lifted her head to look at the woman. "Oh, no. Well- yeah, sort of. What is it that you wanted to discuss?" Elsa had to admit she was worried, very worried. Why would Anna's mom need to talk to her, anyway? She tried to remember if there was anything that she'd done.

What if… what if they heard us the other night?

She didn't feel the sudden flush on her face. "Anna's birthday is coming up and you might be aware."

Oh…

Relief washed over her. "Umm, yeah yeah. I'm aware." She lied. "I'm assuming you have something prepared for her?"

"To be honest, sweetheart, I have nothing planned and I was hoping you could help me? That's why I asked you to stay. I don't want Anna to have the slightest clue."

"Well Mrs. Aldr- I mean, Idunn, I actually already have something planned for her." That was the truth, she did have a surprise for Anna even though she wasn't aware that Anna's birthday was coming up. She made a mental note to find out the exact day of the redhead's birthday. "I'm afraid," Elsa didn't realize that she might disappoint Anna's parents. "-I hope you don't mind that what I have planned, which I'm not at liberty to say yet, will…" She struggled to find the correct words. "Let's just say that it didn't occur to me that you might be part of it as well. I don't know what I was thinking but I can change that."

"Oh! Don't you worry, I know Anna will love what you have planned and we honestly don't mind. There are more birthdays to come, after all. You two should spend that special day together with us out of your way." She winked at Elsa and the blonde found herself with ever less words to say.

"O-okay," she smiled.

"What is it exactly that you have planned? Or can you not share?"

Elsa shook her head, "I too, don't want Anna to have the slightest clue."

Idunn smiled at her approvingly and gave her a thumbs up. "She is very lucky to have someone like you in her life."

"And I'm lucky to have her in mine," Elsa replied.

"It's nice to finally see her settle down with someone." Idunn continued.

Elsa wasn't quite sure what her response to that should be because it was too soon to think about settling, not that she was against it but it... Those things took time. Of course it didn't surprise her that Idunn brought it up because after all, as far as Anna's parents were aware, their relationship was longer than what it actually was. "Well..."

"Oh don't listen to me. It's just, I rarely see any two people have as much chemistry as you too and it's nice to see that. Anna loves you, she really does. But of course you know that!"

Elsa cleared her throat. It was rare for her to find herself at a loss for words and for some reason the conversation was making her feel slightly uncomfortable. She wondered if it was because of the fact that they lied to them about the length of their relationship or because when it came to love, Elsa believed she was very inexperienced.

Love... Anna? Loves me?

It didn't come quite as a surprise to hear Idunn say that and as much as she longed for love, she was also scared of it. Scared that it might be the wrong time or wrong person, not that Anna was the wrong person but what if Elsa got her expectations too high and Anna didn't really feel that strongly about her? Love was a strong word after all and there was a thin line between love and hate, she knew that from personal experiences.

"Did I say something wrong?" Idunn stared at her with concern in her eyes.

"Oh, no! Not at all! It's just- it's just nice to hear that other people see it too."

"You two are too adorable. And you know what the best part is?" Elsa lifted her head again and met the woman's eyes. "It was obvious that you were into each other ever since the first time we met you and now, now it's even more so."

Elsa smiled at her. She remained silent before saying anything, "it's indescribable, really. I, uh, never knew I was capable of feeling this way about someone. Sure I've dated other people before and of course I felt affectionate towards them but… it's just too much you know? This, what I feel for Anna is special and it scares me sometimes. I'm afraid that I might disappoint her or that it won't be enough for her. I've had my fair share of rejection when it comes to… to love." She swallowed. "I know that you might not understand because words are definitely not enough but the feelings I have for your daughter certainly feel like too much, in the greatest of ways of course."

Idunn simply stood there, awestricken. Admiration and pride radiated off her, Elsa could tell that the woman wanted to cry, or possibly hug her to death. "You are meant for each other."

"Well I honestly never pictured you knocking at my house." Kristoff said a few seconds after opening the door.

"Does it help if I say that I consider you a friend now?"

"Hmm, let me think about it." He stood at the door, hand under his chin, pretending to think.

"What about as Anna's girlfriend? Am I allowed to come in then?" Elsa was starting to become impatient.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding! Come in," he moved out of the way to let her in. "To what do I owe this pleasure?"

"Well, it's about Anna's birthday but before we talk about that, I thought Ygrette was here with you?"

Kristoff's face displayed a light frown. "Me too but apparently she has to do something at the company since your dad is out of the country."

"Oh?" Elsa stood, thinking for a while and then shook her head. "Anyway, I just found out Anna's birthday is coming up and-"

"And you don't know what to do for her?" He made a weird sound as he pretended to be disappointed. "What a bad girlfriend you are. I'm kidding by the way."

Elsa rolled her eyes, "I know and," she lifted her index finger to make a point, "I already have something planned I just don't know what day her birthday is."

"Well, I believe that still qualifies you as a bad girlfriend and I'm allowed to say this because we're friends now." He threw a smirk at her.

"And I'm starting to reconsider that." She smiled back.

"Fine. Anna's birthday is a week from today. What exactly do you have planned, anyway? And am I invited?"

"I can't tell you since it's a surprise and unfortunately it's just going to be the two of us, sorry." Elsa was genuinely sorry because what she had planned didn't include Anna's parents nor her friends. It's not that it didn't occur to her to invite them but she had no idea Anna's birthday was coming up so she had merely planned something for the two of them.

"Ah! I see, it's that kind of thing. Tell you what, why don't we go out tonight? The three of us since we'll probably be too busy to see each other in the coming days."

Elsa nodded, "sounds good. Does going out for dinner sound good?"

"You bet, just don't make me the third wheel between you two." He joked.

"So what did my mom want to talk to you about, anyway?" Anna asked as soon as she met Elsa in the backyard. She took longer than anticipated at the store even though she wanted to be back home in seconds, what with Idunn wanting to "borrow" Elsa and whatnot.

"Oh. Uh... She just wanted to... To talk." Elsa began to stutter, if she wanted to surprise Anna she had to be really careful about what she said.

"Well, obviously. I knew that much." She sat on the bench next to Elsa. "Did she say something she shouldn't have? I can talk to her if that's the case." Anna shifted herself closer to the blonde.

"Oh, no, no! It was just normal talk, you know? How you have finally settled and all that. It was a pleasant conversation."

"Hmm. Fine. I'll believe you, for now." She kissed Elsa's cheek.

"You took a while at the store, I missed you."

"That's what happens when you're not home in a while, you kind of get lost." Anna joked.

"Speaking of, we're going out for dinner tonight."

"Ooh, someone's bossy."

Elsa smiled and rolled her eyes. "Shut up, you like it. But actually, Kristoff invited us."

"Ok, okay. Double date kind of thing?"

"Nope, just the three of us." Elsa shook her head. She looked down and realized she hadn't even noticed when she had taken hold of Anna's hand, it just seemed so natural.

"Ygrette's not coming?"

"She's not here, apparently my father's out of town so she had to stay in charge." Elsa took the liberty of running her fingers on the back of Anna's hand. The redhead placed her head on the other girls' shoulder.

"Imagine if that had been you," Anna sighed, "you would be a very busy person and I would rarely get to see you."

"Mhm," Elsa hummed. "Imagine how we would be like if we hadn't met."

"Not better off, obviously. I mean, I got lucky to find someone as rich and hot as you." She teased and felt Elsa's body shake as the blonde laughed.

"I see, you're only in it for the money, huh?" There was a hint of amusement on Elsa's voice.

"Don't forget the sex."

"Yes, of course. The sex is wonderful." Elsa admitted.

"I knew it! No, but in all seriousness, it sucks picturing you with anyone else."

"Likewise. I usually don't get this attached." The tone of the conversation switched to serious suddenly.

Anna sat up to look at Elsa face to face. "Really?"

"Yes, really. I've always been great about keeping my feelings at bay but with you... It's a little overwhelming, like my feelings for you are just flooding over everything and you know what? I love it." The smile Elsa had on her face was the most genuine smile Anna had yet to see.

"Then I should consider myself very lucky." Elsa smiled and shook her head in an attempt to get rid of her blush. Perhaps it would have been easier to if Anna would stop staring at her.

"You know? I'm starting to think that you stare at me more than I stare at you." Elsa tried to break the silence. She never did mind having the attention. In fact, she loved it but with Anna it was different. It made her feel things. She wasn't quite sure of what it was but Anna's opinion matter and maybe that was the reason. Anna was the only one that mattered; she was the only one who had managed to break all her barriers.

"I want you," there it was again. The unexpected sentence that made her feel warmth spread through her body, and perhaps a little excitement or something close to that. It was as if there was something new to look forward to. It was so simple yet it made her feel so much. As if Anna really, genuinely wanted her, in all the ways possible.

"You have me," was her response once again but this time she needed to go further. She knew Anna wanted her, and she wanted Anna just as much but there was something on the back of her mind... Inquiring. "You know you have me so, why d-"

Anna interrupted before she could finish. "Why do I keep saying it?" Elsa nodded and the redhead gave her a small smile before replying. "It's not enough for you to know it, I like saying it."

I like when you say it, was what Elsa wanted to say but she was being bombarded with so many thoughts and many other things she also wanted to tell her. It was nice not having to deal with everything by herself. Anna was the perfect confidant and she knew she'd have her support no matter what. Before she could say anything else, Anna continued.

"There's something else." She stared intently at Elsa, somewhat afraid that the blonde would not pay attention.

"Something else?" Elsa asked, caught off guard and Anna nodded. "What is it?"

"I… I uh…"

"Anna?"

"I L-bomb you." The redhead wanted to crawl under the bench in that instant or even dig a hole on the ground, afraid of what Elsa's possible reaction might be, but all of that went away after she heard Elsa's giggle. There was something in the blonde's eyes, a glint that was indescribable yet amazing.

"I L-bomb you too," she said and her lips met Anna's lips.

"I missed that place so much. It's been a while since I've had a burger that I actually enjoyed," Kristoff declared as he drove on their way back. He'd made the choice on the restaurant and Anna and Elsa quickly agreed, not really caring about the food or the place as long as they got to spend time together.

"You mean a burger and our leftovers?" Anna joked from the passenger's seat and hear Elsa's laugh from the back.

Kristoff rolled his eyes, "well, you can't go around wasting food like that."

"We did eat more than half, alright?" Elsa pitched in.

"Ugh, are you calling me fat?" That caused both girls to laugh while Kristoff smirked proudly to himself.

"Hey Kristoff, remember that time when we were little and you used to love cupcakes-" Anna started.

"I still do, okay?"

"You should have seen him, Elsa. He used to be so chubby and when you grabbed his cheeks-"

"Hey, hey! How would you feel if I tell Elsa about your embarrassing stories?" The blonde guy quickly retaliated.

"Go ahead, I have nothing to hide."

Kristoff stared at her with a devilish smile. "Oh, yeah? How about that one time when we were in six grade and got invited to your "crush's" party? Did Anna ever tell you that story Elsa?"

Anna quickly turned red and couldn't help but shift her eyes between Elsa and Kristoff. "That is totally not fair, I had my reasons, okay?"

"Well, I'd love to hear the story." Elsa called from the back.

"So this one time-" Kristoff was about to get started when Elsa's phone went off.

"Sorry about that I for- hmm. I wonder why Ygrette is calling."

"Tell her I miss her and to call me sometime," Kristoff said as he looked at Elsa through the rearview mirror.

"Hello?" Elsa answered and Anna had to admit it was a bit strange having Ygrette call Elsa, after all they barely talked to each other. Unless of course, Ygrette needed something from her, or rather her father needed something from Elsa.

She was a bit disappointed because Elsa was finally getting to put her worries away and now there might be something else she needed to be stressed about. And why wasn't Elsa saying much? She was on the phone, not saying much except for one word answers and her face had become difficult to read. Was it shock? Disappointment? Anna couldn't tell so she had to ask her as soon as Elsa ended the call.

"Something wrong?" Kristoff asked as he too, noticed how drastically the mood had changed. But Elsa didn't say anything, as if she was processing everything she had just heard. She stared into space, not saying a word or giving a hint as to what was going on inside of her mind.

"Elsa? Are you okay? What's- what's going on?" Anna was starting to become seriously worried.

The blonde opened her mouth, unsure if anything would even come out. "Father…" It came out as a whisper.

"What about your father, Elsa?" Anna insisted, taking a hold of Elsa's hands.

"Father is dead."

AN: Wow, I think this is the longest it has taken me to upload a chapter. Sorry about that guys! Things usually tend to get busier during the middle of the semester what with projects and midterms, it's also hard to think about the story line so I'm taking suggestions...

Would love to hear from you guys, thanks for everything!

Also, I posted a preview of this on tumblr a few days ago, I would like to point out that I changed it a tiny bit, just in case you're confused about that. With that being said, sorry about the late update again. I'll try to have the next one finished sooner if I can come up with a decent follow up story line.

I'll shut up now.
