All of the espada gathered in Aizen's room. He was laying in his bed, his hair was white, and his face was worn. He look as though he were translucent. He wasn't just dying, he was disappearing. Yuki sat next to him, her eyes were filling with tears. It wasn't just Yuki that was crying for the loss of the man she considered her father; it was also Aizen's reiatsu that flowed through her that cried for the loss of its body. She felt lost, what can I do without him guiding me?
"My dear Yuki," his voice had lost its commanding spirit, "you must continue,"
Yuki stared teary eyed at him, "Don't talk like that," her own voice was shaking, "You're going to be fine, you can't die…"
Aizen shook his head, "My dear, this is the plan. That organ is still inside of you, you must carry on my reiatsu…"
Yuki turned to Szayel Apporo, "you had me opened up on your table and you didn't think to remove the organ that is killing our leader?!" the tears fell down her face. I'm killing him…
Szayel Apporo looked away, "I was ordered not to…"
"HE'S DYING SZAYEL…he's dying" Yuki had lost the strength to be angry. Her soul felt heavy, she ached at the idea of him leaving.
Aizen looked at her with eyes that were fading, "It was always you my dear, you are my blood line…no, you are my spirit line. My reiatsu flows through you, and one day you will give that reiatsu to Raiden who will pass it on to the next King…you must fix this world Yuki…ensure the balance," Yuki shook her head, she didn't want to. She wanted him to live forever, "The Shinigami have been threatening the balance…you must unite them," he lifted his hand, Yuki covered her mouth, she could see right through his hand, he's fading, "Only under a shinigami-hollow can unite these worlds, you must continue Yuki,"
Yuki let her head fall onto the bed, she could feel Aizen place his hand on her head as she cried.
Grimmjow sighed. He too felt an aching sadness for the death of Aizen, but it was different. It was as if the Aizen before him was dying, but he was also being reborn at the same time into Yuki. He didn't know if that made him uncomfortable or not…instead he decided not to think about it. He looked around the room, it seemed as though most of the espada were experiencing the same thing, as Aizen was getting fainter, and Yuki was becoming stronger. Szayel Apporo was different, his head was hanging down, Grimmjow thought he was crying.
Szayel Apporo was crying. He had been living with so much guilt for such a long time. Aizen had put his faith in him and Szayel Apporo had failed. And now he would live with the guilt of allowing their leader to die…even if it was for the plan…it still was a heavy weight to bare.
"Szayel Apporo my child," Aizen looked over at him, his hand still placed delicately on the weeping head of Yuki, "Thank you, you were always the most loyal of espadas…you are the only I could trust with the completion of this plan…I hope that you continue to serve the spirit line as you did me…."
Szayel Apporo immediately took a knee, "I will always serve the spirit line, Aizen-sama," he had gotten the recognition of his deeds. Although his guilt had not fully erased, he swore to himself that he would continue to serve the spirit line until his own death. Only then would his guilt be forgiven.
All of the other espada took a knee as well, even Shima Akuma who at this point believed that she was as espada even though she had no traces of hollow inside of her, they spoke in unison, "We will always serve the heir to the spirit line, we will serve Minji Yuki," Yuki raised her head and turned to espada, the all bowed to Aizen, to her.
Her heart was clenched but at the same time at ease. She turned back to Aizen, her face stained with tears, he was fading faster and faster, "Aizen-sama…" she whispered, "Father…"
Aizen smiled as best he could at her, "Yes my dear?"
"I will serve the Spirit line," she bit back the tears, "I will continue the spirit line, I will pass it on to Raiden, and he will pass it on to the next worthy Shinigami-hollow mix."
He nodded softly, "I know…"
The room was silent for several more minutes. Aizen's image was getting fainter and fainter until suddenly he was gone. The place where he once laid was just an empty bed.
Yuki placed her hand where Aizen had once been, she took a deep, shaky breath before she turned and spoke, "We need to take care of the intruders, after that we need to finish the rest of the captains in Soul Society. Szayel Apporo, make sure you find that last missing captain!" her voice was commanding and calm, just as Aizen's had been.
Grimmjow grinned as the others left the room, "My Queen," his grin grew as he saw her face get red, "Does that make me your King?" he took a few steps toward her.
She shook her head playfully, "You are the Duke of course,"
The basement with the Shinigami
Shuuhei jumped when he woke up. He remembered being his with several kidou…he was bleeding and he had several burns on his body. His entire body hurt when he even thought about moving…but his door was open. He crawled toward the opening. His whole body protested, his legs wouldn't even move so he had to drag them. His arms scraped against the ground, a trail of blood was forming behind him, Must…help…taicho….Taicho…
He made it out of his cell and saw that there was a line of doors, he made his way to the door next to his before his body collapsed. The pain was taking him. He used the last of his strength to bang on the door, "Help!"
Kira was distraught. He had stood there, too terrified to attack the espada that stood before him. She left without Kira having done anything. He was ashamed…he was-
"Help!" it was so faint, Kira wondered if he had imagined the voice, but he heard knocking just as soft. He to where the door had shown up and pushed himself against it. It was faint but he could feel a reiatsu, he didn't know who it was…but he had to do something. He began to use the healing kidou he learned when he was in the fourth squad, please work…please let me do something!
Just as Shuuhei felt himself slip into unconsciousness, he saw the kidou light above him. He smiled, Kira huh? What luck…After a minute, Shuuhei stood. He wasn't fully healed, but they didn't have time to stay here. The espada could come back at any moment. He pulled on the door just to see if it was locked and was surprised to see it was open. "Kira,"
"Hiisagi-san! You are so injured! What happened?!"
Shuuhei waved his hand, "Later, we need to get everyone out of here,"
Kira opened up the rooms for Enkimura, Rangiku and Renji. They were all injured, but Kira could heal them if he had enough time, "Where's Kyourane-taicho?"
Shuuhei was at the end of the hallway furiously trying to shake open a door, "TAICHO!"
Kira ran over to see that this door was locked, "Hiisagi-san, let's look for a key,"
Shuuhei wasn't listening. He knew that Chou was on the other side of the door. He needed to get it open right now. He didn't have time to wait. Kira suddenly gasped and Shuuhei turned to him to see that he was staring at the ground. Shuuhei followed his gaze. There was blood coming through the door. He panicked, "TAICHO!" he shook the door harder. Kira frantically started running around trying to find a key to the lock.
"Reap, Kazeshini!" Shuuhei started slashing at the lock, sparks were flying but he couldn't break it, "HANG ON TAICHO!"
Rangiku came over and kicked Shuuhei away from the door, "You idiot! It isn't working!" She pulled out her zanpaktou, "Growl, Heineko!" the ash went into the lock. Suddenly the lock clicked open and Shuuhei pushed past Rangiku to get the door open.
"Taicho!" Chou laid in a pool of her own blood. Shuuhei ran over to her and pulled her into his arms, "Taicho…taicho wake up!" her skin was cold, "KIRA!" Shuuhei saw the gash in her shoulder. It was deep. He didn't know what he would do if she were to die, there was so much he wanted to do, so much he wanted to say…but now he couldn't. It was being taken from him.
"TAICHOO!" he held her close in his arms.
Chou had been falling, her body was cold and she could feel the warm blood leave her body. It must have been a lot because he felt weak. She didn't have the strength, not to call out to Bakemono, not to do anything. Not only was her own life ending, but Shuuhei's had already ended. She had lost the man that she depended on the most. Who will keep me awake at captains meetings? Who's going to do all of my paper work….who will bring me cake when I'm angry? Who am I kidding…I won't make it back there…it's over I can't-
"TAICHOO!" Whose voice it that…is that….Shuuhei?!
Shuuhei was holding Chou in his arms, he didn't want to let her die. Suddenly her reiatsu rose. Across the room, Bakemono changed into a whip and Chou's shoulder suddenly stopped bleeding. Shuuhei looked at the wound to see it had been cartelized. Bakemono went back into her plain katana form.
"Taicho?"
She opened her eyes just enough to make out his face, "You baka…I thought you had died…"
He smiled down at her, "How could I die and leave you all alone?"
Enkimura ran into the room, "I'm glad that we're all alive and stuff. But there are footsteps headed this way! We need to get out of here and fast!"
Without hesitating Shuuhei put Chou on his back and picked up her katana. The group began to run down the hall, away from the approaching footsteps.
"Where are we going?" Enkimura whisper-yelled.
"Where ever they aren't'!" Rangiku ran, "Hopefully to Hitsugaya-taicho…"
"SHIT!" Renji smashed his fist into the dead end that they ran into, "There's no other way out of this place than to back where we came from!"
"Nnoitora what are you doing, DON'T!" suddenly there was a bright yellow cero headed toward them, the all hugged the wall and hoped that it would miss them.
Nel smacked Nnoitora, "You idiot what have you done?!"
Nnoitora shrugged, "You said that it was a dead end…figured we could just take them out with one hit,"
She ground her teeth together, "Or you could have destroyed the wall and given them and exit!"
Nnoitora's face was annoyed, "No one survives one of my ceros,"
They all survived. The cero was just small enough for them to avoid the actual attack, the wall crumbled and they were able to escape from the basement.
Nel and Nnoitora stood at what once was a dead end. The two of them came down here to finish off the intruders…but now they were gone.
"No one survives huh?" Nnoitora clenched his jaw and furrowed his brow at Nel's taunts, "Not even one of them died Nnoitora. Maybe you injured one…." She slapped him once on the back before walking through the hole.
"Maybe you injured one…" he mocked her as he followed behind.
Somewhere inside Las Noches
Hitsugaya decided that he had imagined the shadowy figure of Yuki. It was Aizen. While his mind had accepted the decision, his heart was screaming the opposite. He was sneaking around, from wall to wall. If he could, he would try and assassinate the espada without them seeing him. There was no honor of battle here, it was a search and destroy mission.
He had made his way to a big hallway…coast is clear…
"Hey, YOU!" he was frozen, he had been spotted, wait is that voice….?
Earlier
Yuki had pulled Raiden aside after Aizen's death. Her curiosity now outweighed her fear, "The white haired captain-"
Raiden put up his hand. He didn't want to hurt her, he couldn't make her regret her life here…not now that she is the leader, "I know nothing about the man. He was the captain in Soul Society…but we never spoke to him," Raiden refused to say more. He felt guilty about lying to her…but it was for the best.
Yuki walking down the hallway alone. She had asked Grimmjow to request work from Szayel Apporo… more than that, she needed to be alone. She felt so drawn to this White-haired captain, there was something she couldn't explain about it. It wasn't the same kind of feelings she felt toward Grimmjow, or even to Raiden and Shima. It was something completely different. She walked into the hallway connected to the throne room when she saw a man with white hair peek from around a corner. Her heart raced, It's him!
"Hey, YOU!" she drew her sword, he was an enemy after all. The man was frozen in place. He turned his head slowly and saw her. His eyes got wide, he recognizes me, he took a step away as if he was scared.
Yuki quickly took a step forward, but stopped when she saw his face. He was terrified. When he finally spoke his voice was shaky, "Y-yuki…you're alive?"
Were we enemies? Is that why he is scared of me? God why can't I remember his name?! Why is my heart beating like this?! Why are my hands hesitating…he is my enemy. I need to defeat him…
I am the heir to the spirit line.
Hope you are enjoying where the story is going! As always leave me a review and I will be most grateful. How grateful? Hmmmm...I'll update sooner? :P
