Chapter 37

"Long time no see." Kristen said glaring daggers at Inuyasha.

"You know her, dog-boy?" Lily asked shocked as she and Puss starred at said boy.

"You know him, Kristen?" Fox asked as him and Wolf mirrored the girls' actions to said girl.

"What the hell you kick me for?" Inuyasha yelled ignoring the others.

"Your face irritates me." Kristen said also ignoring them. While this was going on the two forgotten people had a little conversation of their own.

"Looks like we have been forgotten." Miroku said trying to start up a conversation to pass the time.

"Better to be forgotten and left alone, than to be remembered and beat." Rapunzel answered like she was speaking from experience. This caught the monk off guard a little. He didn't expect her to say something like that. Who would? He starred at her through the corner of his eye.

"You sound like you speak from experience." At that she stopped looking at their group of friends and starred up at him.

After a moment she smiled. "Sorry. I said something weird, didn't I?"

"It's alright. Everyone has one of those moments." He said smiling back.

"Guess you're right." She looked down at the ground.

"What's your name?"

"Huh?"

"I asked what your name is."

"Oh, Rapunzel. What's yours?"

"Miroku."

"Well, Mr. Miroku are you a monk?"

"Yes, I am. Are you a foreigner?"

"Yes, how did you know?"

"You put 'Mr.' in front of my name."

"Oh. So how do you know my granddaughters?"

"Granddaughters? You look too young to already have children let alone grandchildren." Miroku said honestly surprised.

"Well of course they are adopted, monk. We share no blood what so ever."

"But you still have kids?"

"Yeah Damien and I made them together."

Miroku silenced after those few words. Rapunzel looked over at him and realized her mistake. "Oh. I'm sorry. I don't mean like that. We made them long before I even knew what that was."

"How do you make a child without… making a child?" He asked not sure how to phrase it.

"We separated my hair into three groups, red, white, and black. After that we wove them into shapes. Red hairs were woven into a fox. White hairs woven into a cat, and black hairs were woven into a dog."

"Your children are dolls?"

"No after that we both put our blood on the figures and said holy words over them. The process took a lot out of me. It was like I really did give birth. Except without as much pain only exhaustion." Rapunzel smiled at the memory of her three newborn children.

"Wow, where are they now?"

"Well since I adopted Lily and her friends they have stuck close to them. They were very motherly in the beginning so I named them my grandchildren." She suddenly started to look around. "Now that I think about it two of them should be here since Lily and Patricia are here."

"Oh if you're talking about the pup and cat that follow them around they were taking a nap when they took off. They should still be back at camp." He said trying to easy her worry.

"Ok. Best be returning then, but before you go," she turned to look him in the eye. "Have you heard of someone named Kagome?"

"Yes. She is a traveling partner of ours. Why, are you searching for her?" he asked curious.

"I am not. Those three are. Could you take them with you?"

"Of course. Are you coming with? You made it sound like you weren't."

"Because I'm not. If you please, take them with you. I have business to attend to." Before he could respond she disappeared into the forest.

"Jeez. What's your problem?" Inuyasha yelled bring Miroku back to the fight between dog-boy and lost-girl.

"Your face is my problem. God, I wish you were adopted." Kristen said as they glared at each other.

"How does that affect you?" Inuyasha said as confusion mixed in with his anger.

"It just does. Jeez. Don't ask questions I don't know the answer to."

"You make no sense what so ever. You know that?"

"Maybe you're just too stupid to understand. Feh. Men!" She said as she crossed her arms and turned away from him.

"Hey, where did Nana go?" Puss said finally looking away from the bickering two-some.

"She said she had some business to attend to. Then she disappeared. She asked that you all be taken with us to Kagome." Miroku explained.

"The hell, monk? She's the one that detective was looking for. Why'd you let her go?" Inuyasha complained. She was literally standing right in front of them and he let her go.

"I didn't let her go. She disappeared."

"Wait, the detective is looking for Nana? I thought she was sent to look after us." Lily said.

"Why would anyone do that?" Inuyasha asked.

"He thinks we can't stay out of trouble. I can't believe he was still searching all these years everyone else gave up after a year or two." Lily said her face becoming serious.

"How long has she been gone?"

"She has been missing for 10 years. It makes sense. Out of everyone back home he was closest to her and he only truly cares about her. If anyone was still looking he would be." Puss said with a sad look on her face.

"If you missed her why didn't you go after her just now?" Miroku asked curiously.

"We got the hint when she left and never came back. The fact she left just a moment ago proves it also. Why stay where you have responsibilities when you can live free? She doesn't want us." Lily got up and started walking back the way they came. "We need to get back to camp before Pup and Kitten get worried. Come on. She said to bring you with us so we will."

Both girls were silent on the way to camp and when they arrived.

"Welcome back you guys." Kagome said cheerfully. Koga had finally woken up and was sitting and talking with the others around the campfire. Lily and Puss didn't even flinch even though they walked right over his legs.

"Hey, I think you owe me an apology, woman." Koga said to the girls. They both looked at him with tired eyes.

"We owe you nothing wolf." Lily said before sitting at the base of a tree near him. She took her beats from around her neck and put them on her ears. She put on her favorite and most relaxing song on and turned the volume up so she couldn't hear anything.

"Don't mind her she's just in a bad mood." Puss said to Koga before sitting next to Lily leaning on her to go to sleep. At that moment the rest of the group entered the camp.

"Welcome back." Sango said.

"What happened?" Kagome asked.
