Ooh, finally, another chapter of my most popular story! And my first post of the New Year, no less! Sweet!
Here it is, the finale of Season 3…after it's been hyped up for, like, eighty years. Sorry for the long wait guys! My life has taken a lot of twists and turns and only now am I truly starting to leap back into my love of writing. Now that I'm 16 and homeschooled, I can work harder at my writing! Sounds like a sad life to some, but I don't care. It makes me happy.
Anyways, in the previous chapter, our protagonists began to explore Veilstone City after finally, finally, FINALLY arriving in probably the most hyped up destination yet! Whilst there, each member of the gang did a lot; Dipper and Wendy explored the southern route of Veilstone, Route 214, where Wendy caught herself a Nuzleaf; Mabel, Candy, Grenda, Pacifica, and Lazy Susan encountered Kalos' regional professor, Professor Sycamore, and his two assistants Dexio and Sina; Pacifica began to battle Dexio whilst Mabel learned of the mysterious Mega Evolution from Sycamore; Soos found out the mysterious man Cyrus is the boss of Team Galactic, and he is now a Commander with the codename Mercury; and Lucas revealed that the woman whom Mabel and Soos met in Eterna City, the ever elusive Cynthia, was the former Sinnoh League Champion, ten years ago before he took the title for himself!
….damn, that's a LOT of stuff. Welp, guess what, there's gonna be EVEN MORE content in this jam-packed finale to the third season! Paths will cross, bonds will be tested, and a grand Pokémon battle will show face, a battle between two characters that will connect way too many things to list. It all comes together in this chapter, plots converge and culminate into answers that open into bigger mysteries! You won't believe some of the connections people have! Better start making all those connections with pictures and post-it notes on a cork board!
Are you ready? Hold onto your seats everyone, welcome to the Season 3 Finale of Gravity Falls: Sinnoh Adventure!
Now, on with the season finale!
-Chapter 35: It All Comes Together-
"But that's dumb." Lucas yawned and drawled into his phone, the early morning sun unpleasantly beaming into his eyes. He leaned off of his bed and rubbed his eyes. "That's not good design, dude."
"What? Are you kidding? One hundred floors is incredible! Nobody will EVER beat the tower!"
"Is that really a good design for your dad's hand-me-down?" He chuckled.
"HEY! I-I'll totally fine you if you can't accept my genius, Lucas!"
"Whatever Bar-" A click signified the other had hung up before Lucas could finish. The man sighed and set down his phone. As he got out of the bed, he stared at his poorly clothed self in the mirror.
Welp...I didn't buy new clothes for no reason.
The champion locked the door to his room and began undressing. He slipped on undergarments and black jeans, then a black long-sleeve and a white tank-vest over it. He folded the sleeves back at the wrists to make cuffs, then threw on a long, slightly baggy blue overcoat, with dark blue seams down the center portions, and white, jagged ends at the sleeves. Finally, Lucas wrapped a thick red scarf around his neck, placed on a pair of green half-rimmed glasses, and then his signature beret went atop his head.
He grinned at himself in the mirror. "Hot damn, took me ten years to finally look my age.
Lucas gathered his things and reorganized them, as he had a feeling today would not be the day they'd leave the city. Still, he packed a small bag, hoisted it onto his shoulder, and left his room.
As he went down to dine on breakfast with the others, the first to notice him was Dipper. "Whoa, you look different."
"Heh, decided to mix things up a bit." Lucas shrugged and sat down at the end of the table. "Figured wearing the same things for ten years or so isn't healthy."
"Well you look good." Dipper muttered before shoveling food into his mouth.
"Hey, look at that, there's the excitement." Wendy joked. "Don't eat yourself to death, dude."
"I'm nawt- ahh…" Dipper muttered before swallowing. "I need to eat fast, first thing's first is I'm challenging the gym today!"
"Oh yeah, it's been awhile since you've battled a gym!" Mabel grinned. "You'll get your third badge! And I'll get my fourth!"
"Hmph." Dipper grunted. "You don't have to rub it in that you're ahead. We'll be caught up eventually."
"Suuuuure." Mabel smirked.
"Hey, what's that?" Dipper pointed.
"Where-?"
The boy flipped his sister's hair over her face, smirking as Mabel tried to fix herself. "There. While you do that, I have a gym to challenge."
"Oh do you now?"
Dipper blinked, before sighing as he recognized that voice. He whirled around. "What do you want, Gideon?"
The boy in question smirked at Dipper with crossed arms, standing a little way from the table. "Oh, nothin'..."
"Here to show off that you have five badges or something?" Dipper rolled his eyes.
"Actually, no, I still have to challenge the Veilstone Gym. I'm just gonna do it first." He smirked.
Dipper stared before shoveling down one last bit of food, grabbing his bag, and sprinting down the stairs. "Gottagobeatthegymbye!"
"What the- HEY!" Gideon shouted after him.
"Let's go cheer him on dudes!" Soos smiled. Mabel glanced at him, noticing how uneasy he appeared to be. But for now, she shrugged it off. The man stood, before stopping. He checked his bag, noticing how much lighter it felt. "Huh…? Ah, oh no!"
"Huh? What is it, Soos?" Pacifica asked.
"My egg!" He showed them the empty bag. "I-It's gone!"
"Yeah, come on out!"
Dipper threw a Pokéball into the air as he ran, and out popped Monferno, who began eagerly running alongside him down the Veilstone sidewalks. The boy was far more excited than anything, he'd finally be challenging another gym after so long. With only two badges under his belt, getting his third would feel like winning the lottery. It would be another step towards completing the Gym Challenge and reaching the Sinnoh Pokémon League, and that was a goal he had to accomplish at all costs.
"Woo! Let's go get a badge!" Dipper pumped a fist in the air, turning a corner to pass by a location known as the Veilstone Game Corner. "Let's go and- AH!"
His wrist was grabbed from behind, and as he stumbled back, he realized it was Monferno who had pulled him back. However, at the moment, a loud bang had ran out, and Dipper's eyes widened as he watched something barely miss his face and become lodged in the pavement beside him; some kind of small ball, not a typical bullet, but...something. The boy collapsed onto his back and panted.
Monferno saved him from being shot at.
"Sheesh, calm down...wasn't trying to hit ya."
Dipper's breathing calmed, and his eyes fearfully widened more. That voice was a bit more familiar than he had hoped. And it was a voice he didn't expect to hear for a long, long time. As he sat up, he looked to the entrance of the Veilstone Game Corner.
Standing there was a tall, slim teen, in a dulled orange jumpsuit. Placed on his wrists were thick but worn handcuffs that appeared to be on the verge of breaking. In one hand was a small yellow gun; the ball appeared to be a blank of sorts, and if anything, it wouldn't kill the boy. But the most recognizable feature on the teen was his somewhat messy, jet black hair, and his acne riddled face.
Robbie.
"W-What...what the...W-WHAT?!" Dipper scrambled back, breathing picking up in speed once again. Monferno jumped in front of the boy, growling at the teen who had the higher ground.
"Heh, relax." Robbie chuckled. "Surprised to see me?"
"But...you...you're supposed to be in JAIL!" Dipper hastily leaped to his feet.
"Yeah, I am...they said I never had to break out." His icy glare was chilling, piercing the boy's soul almost instantly. "But I couldn't wait. I knew I'd meet you here. I just had to."
"W-Why would you…? A-Are you trying to…?" Dipper backed up as Robbie slowly stepped down a stairway and stood a ways apart from the boy, standing in the way he had been heading.
"Behind me is the gym, and you're not going that way."
The boy glared. "W-Why are you here?! Just go away, go serve for a week or something in community service!"
"Pfft, funny." Robbie chuckled darkly. "No, no, I'm here for something else, something I've been waiting to do for a long time…"
"...what's...that…?" Dipper watched as Robbie struggled with his arms, crouching down and pulling hard. The teen grunted, and soon Dipper realized what he was trying to do. Robbie was breaking the cuffs. And, sure enough, both cuffs flew apart, the chain breaking, each half dangling from their respective wrists. With a sadistic grin, the teen took out a Pokéball, clicking the button to enlarge it.
"I want to battle you, Dipper."
Silence had set in after Robbie uttered those words. Dipper swallowed; a crowd of people was gathering around them, leaving room for the battle. The spectators watched the two, fearful for what would happen. Dipper breathed; Robbie's Pokémon weren't exactly very well trained. In his head, he laughed. This fight would be a breeze.
"Fine." Dipper recalled Monferno and withdrew another Pokéball. He didn't want to just use his partner immediately and get him too tired for the rest of the fight. "One battle. Four Pokémon each."
"That's all either of us have, I figured." Robbie held the Pokéball up.
Dipper blinked. "Y-You mean you caught…?"
"Pick your first." The teen smirked. "I've picked mine." After a moment, Dipper sighed. Then, with force, he threw his Pokéball.
"Staravia, go!" Out popped his bird Pokémon, stars and sparkles twinkling from its body as it emerged.
"Heh, knew you'd pick that…" Robbie's smirk faded after a moment. He gripped his Pokéball tightly before hurling it out. "En garde!"
The Pokéball popped open, and out came a strange, spherical Pokémon that looked...just like an upside down Pokéball. Dipper blinked and looked at his Pokédex to register the new Pokémon.
Electrode, the Ball Pokémon
Type: Electric
Ability: Aftermath
It is known to drift on winds if it is bloated to bursting with stored electricity.
Electrode was a round Pokémon resembling a reverse-colored Pokéball, with a somewhat unnerving facial expression of just a mouth and a pair of eyes. Its top half was white, while its lower half was red. It was as basic as that.
"What the...that…" Dipper rubbed his head. "That...is...strong looking...uh…" He was already having second thoughts about battling Robbie. He wasn't exactly expecting this, especially not from someone like him.
"Go on." Robbie swung a strap around on him, one that Dipper hadn't even noticed until now. Attached to the strap was a rather worn looking electric guitar. How he hadn't noticed this until now, Dipper would never know. Robbie plucked a few strings, making a rather quiet but eerie melody, before swinging the guitar around on his back again. "Make the first move."
A bead of sweat trickled down Dipper's face. As determined as he looked, inside he was terrified.
Urgh, it's an Electric-Type, so Staravia won't do very well here...but switching is risky, I don't know what he has, and nothing I have resists electricity...I'll just have to go all in!
"Staravia! Use Double Team to start!" Dipper commanded. Staravia obeyed and began to visibly deteriorate, before several clones of it began to spread out and circle around Electrode. However, the Electric-Type appeared unfazed.
"Mm." Robbie eyed the clones. "Electrode, take each of them out with Sonic Boom!"
The ball-like Pokémon rolled about, spinning in place, before it began shooting out barely visible waves of pulsating energy. They struck the clones one by one, eliminating each and every fraudulent Staravia in seconds.
"Ghnng…!" Dipper grit his teeth with discomfort and unease. "S-Staravia, dodge the attacks and strike Electrode with Aerial Ace!"
Figuring his opponent was on a near equal level, Dipper hoped this would do a little more damage than Robbie would expect. Staravia shot forward out of the remaining clones and struck Electrode hard with the tip of its beak. The bird Pokémon swooped back up and around, flying over to its trainer and landing before him on the pavement. Electrode had rolled back, appearing upside down now, looking more and more like an oversized Pokéball. The lack of movement made Dipper excited.
However, Electrode then promptly rolled back upright, showing no signs of pain at all, not even a nick of damage on its smooth body.
Stunned, Dipper felt as if a gust of wind had just knocked him off balance, as he felt himself stepping back in fear. Not only was he at a severe disadvantage, but the lack of visible damage proved he was going against a severely formidable foe, unlike the Robbie he had previously witnessed. The scrawny, gothic teen, who was a poor excuse of a trainer, had seemingly evolved, toughening up his personality and team and showing no mercy to the boy. He truly was a trainer to be feared.
And that made Dipper wonder just how strong this Electrode really was.
So he slowly scanned it on his Pokédex to check its level.
He felt his eyes pop out of his head and his brain melt. "L-Level 38?!"
Robbie smirked, glaring a victorious stare at his rival. "My team's been pushed well beyond their limits, I'm basically unstoppable!"
Dipper trembled. His whole team was in the early-mid 20s, in terms of levels. If Robbie's first Pokémon alone was in the high 30s…he was truly afraid to see the rest of his team.
If he could even BEAT Electrode.
After a moment of silence, the capped trainer breathed and steadied himself. Pointing at his opponent, he shouted, "I will defeat you! Staravia, Double Team!"
The bird Pokémon did as told, soaring into the air and surrounding the ball Pokémon on all sides with identical copies of itself, creating each one in a blur of a second. Robbie simply eyed each copy and sighed. "Wow. Same strategy? Don't bore me dude, come on. At least try harder to beat me before I crush you."
Dipper no longer felt any terror. Even Robbie's seemingly knowing glare didn't make him feel unsure of his plan. He had this in the bag; if this didn't take out Electrode, it would at least deal heavy damage to it.
"Staravia, all of your copies; use Aerial Ace!"
Aiming their beaks at Electrode, Staravias dived down at it from all sides, glowing bright white, ready to entirely strike down their tough opponent. The combined attacks would surely take it out. Electrode didn't even do anything, though the lack of commands from Robbie still didn't unnerve Dipper.
Until Robbie snapped his fingers.
"Explosion."
Electrode's signature smirk vanished as it appeared to be trying very hard to store up enough power; in seconds, it ignited in a bright white and orange light as its body expanded before bursting, creating a large cloud of smoke that covered the area, and ended up enveloping all the clones and the original Staravia. The incredibly loud explosion attracted more passerby people, and when the smoke finally cleared, Dipper was there, twitching with wide eyes as he watched his Staravia collapse from the sky to the street below, body burnt and singed and eyes closed.
It was completely unconscious.
Robbie smirked and recalled his unconscious Electrode, which somehow reconstructed its body after that brutal blast of an attack seemingly destroyed it.
"I said I'm gonna crush you. I meant it."
The loud explosion caught everybody in the city off guard, including Mabel, Soos, Lucas, and the rest of the group. Everyone turned in the direction of the sound and watched the large clouds of smoke arise from the Southern streets of the city.
"What the heck?!" Mabel felt her jaw drop, wondering what could've caused the collateral damage inducing attack.
"Oh damn…!" Wendy muttered, eyes wide. "Sheesh, was that an explosion?!"
"Everyone, c'mon!" Lucas began running down the street towards the source. "We have to find out what's going on!"
The group followed the Champion until they reached the large crowd of people. Pushing past several of them, the first to get to the front was Mabel, and she was stupefied at what she saw. Dipper, kneeling, holding his unconscious Staravia, and across from him…
Robbie. Standing confident, arms crossed, smirking, glaring.
"What the—ROBBIE?!" Mabel dropped to her knees in surprise.
"Wait, what Mab—wait, whoa." Wendy came next, slowing down as she stared at the antagonistic teen. "What the…that's really HIM?!"
The rest of the group was just as astounded to see Robbie as well, though Lucas was confused as to who he was.
"He's my ex-boyfriend, and a sucky trainer who got himself arrested…" Wendy muttered. "But…it looks like he got out somehow and now he and Dipper are battling. Dipper should win, right? Robbie just…sucks."
"But Robbie somehow managed to take out Dipper's Staravia." Candy mentioned. "How could he have done that if he is so bad?"
"With an Explosion from an Electrode."
They all turned to see Gideon standing there with Deuce, Gideon's arms crossed with a serious look on his face.
"Dipper was at a disadvantage from the start. Robbie's Electric-Type, Electrode, easily took it down with an Explosion attack." He explained. "Robbie's team appears to be incredibly stronger than what it apparently used to be, Dipper has something to fear now."
They all silently stared at Dipper and Robbie, Dipper having recalled his fainted Staravia, and Robbie having sent out his Kricketune, which hopped about quickly, showing off great agility.
"I can't…I-I can't just get s-swept up in a fast loss, n-not like th-this…"
The boy was terrified.
And then a shout broke the silence.
"KICK HIS BUTT DIPPER!"
Stunned, Dipper got up and looked over. Mabel was punching her fists in the air, glaring at him.
"YOU CAN DO THIS!"
"You got this lil dude!" Soos cheered.
"He's fearsome but not invincible!" Gideon said, which surprised Dipper.
"Do it dude, I guess…uh, kick his butt?" Deuce seemed unsure of what to say.
"Pound him into the ground, dork!" Wendy punched a fist into her palm, smirking.
Lucas simply smiled and tipped his hat.
"You are strong, no matter the outcome. Do your best!"
Dipper smiled, before smirking at Robbie. Now, with the courage to keep fighting, he pulled out his next Pokéball. "I'm not gonna lose to you! Go, Monferno!"
The fiery monkey Pokémon popped out, ready to do battle, as Robbie kept smirking.
"Okay, I get your strategy now…thankfully I know how to counter it." The gothic teen muttered. "And, well…if all else fails…"
Dipper barely noticed something in Robbie's hand, before the teen tightened his grip on…well, whatever it was.
"…just you wait, Dipper, I've got a secret weapon you'll never defeat."
"So how is everybody doing?"
Professor Rowan sat in his private study in his laboratory, staring at his personal PC computer. As he filled in some paperwork, he was currently video calling with his acquaintance and old friend, Stan Pines.
"Everyone is just fine, I've heard from Lucas the other day that they just reached Veilstone City, and are ready to go for their next badge." Rowan replied. "Lucas is, by the way, the current Regional Champion."
"Wow, traveling with the Champ, eh?" Stan chuckled. "Sheesh, remember the old days of our adventure?"
Rowan smiled, remembering the days of years and years past, a time when he and Stan were kids. "Yes, yes…you were so eager to join me on my journey, you picked Charmander in a heartbeat."
"Well because you just can't say no to a huge, kickass, fire breathing dragon!" Stan threw his hands up on the other end of the monitor. "He kicked way more butt as a Charizard than your Blastoise ever did!"
Rowan chuckled, before a deafening silence fell over the two.
"…and we both remember Spear Pillar, too."
The professor nodded. "The darkened days…the time where you lost your–"
"We promised never to speak about that in detail. Please." Stan glared at Rowan. "What happened…is what happened. That's that, and it was fifty years ago."
Rowan nodded again as silence took over once more. "…do you remember the day we went to the Solaceon Pokémon Daycare?"
"Hm? Yeah, I do…I remember at the time, Charmeleon had just had an egg, and none of us wanted it. Wonder what happened to it."
"Well it hatched of course, into a Charmander." Rowan smiled. "And it protected the other egg for years and years."
"You mean…his egg never hatched?"
"No, but…it is in good hands." He said. "Lucas is taking care of the Charmander, whilst your great nephew, Dipper, is studying and caring for the egg."
After a moment, Stan smiled. "He's a good, strong kid…he can and will face tough times, I know it. But he always prevails. Somehow, someway, he does. And that egg, if it hatches for him…I hope it'll do him good, the critter inside."
"It certainly will." Rowan responded. "Now I'm afraid I must take my leave…I have one of my other trainers arriving soon."
"Oh yeah? Which one?"
"Barry Cedric, Lucas' childhood friend. He and I will be meeting with a foreign professor very soon."
Kricketune collapsed in moments after taking a fifth Flame Wheel attack from Monferno. Kricketune was a not a Pokémon known for defensive or offensive capabilities, but somehow, Robbie's was quite the wall. It took several hits from Monferno's super effective attacks, and either chipped away with Fury Cutter or counterattacked with Bide. Whether it was high defensive capabilities, or the fact that it was levels higher than Monferno, it wasn't clear why Kricketune was very tough to take down.
Regardless, it left an impact, managing to severely weaken Dipper's Monferno, despite the serious type advantage.
Dipper was determined still, but a bit uneasy once again. Robbie clearly had everything planned out. But half of his time was down, and Dipper only lost one on his side, so things were somehow looking up for him.
Hopefully this would be a win for him.
"Well you're being pretty bothersome, dude." Robbie scoffed, recalling Kricketune and withdrawing another Pokéball. "You'll lose slower now. That's all this means."
"Sh-Shut up! Let's just fight!" Dipper withdrew Monferno and brought out Magikarp. "Monferno, you rest for now. Magikarp! We can win this fight!"
Magikarp flopped in response, straightening. As dumb as it looked, it understood its trainer and was ready to fight.
Robbie smirked and threw out his next Pokéball. "Mightyena! Tear this fish to shreds!"
Out popped a large, feral looking dog-like Pokémon, looking like a larger, more dangerous version of Robbie's original Poochyena. Dipper stared at it, eyes wide. Poochyena was so small and innocent, and now it was a large fighting machine with bloodlust in its eyes. Slowly, he scanned it with his Pokédex.
Mightyena, the Bite Pokémon
Type: Dark
Ability: Intimidate
It chases down prey in a pack. It will never disobey the commands of a skilled Trainer.
Mightyena was a quadruped Pokémon that resembled a hyena. Its fur was mostly short and gray, but there was shaggy black fur on its lower legs, tail, and in two thick strips starting behind its eyes and running the length of its body. It had dark, triangular streak patterns below its eyes, which were red with yellow sclerae. Its ears were rhombus-shaped with dark insides, its nose was red, and it had gray paw pads.
Robbie grinned slightly. "You wanna take down my mutt with that floppy fish? Sheesh, and you all said I'M the bad trainer."
"M-Maybe Magikarp and I haven't battled often enough, but..." Dipper pumped his fists. "I know that he's a strong Pokémon, who will continue to grow stronger!"
"If that's the truth, then evolve it into Gyarados already!" Robbie pointed out an open hand before clenching it into a fist. "Mightyena, seal the deal! Wipe it out fast with Crunch!"
The hyena Pokémon darted forward, almost like a blur of black and grey, before it grabbed Magikarp in its jaws. Before Dipper could make a command, Mightyena bit hard on the fish, before letting the unconscious Magikarp fall from its jaws. It leaped back to Robbie, as Dipper simply picked up his fainted Magikarp.
"Magikarp…bud, don't worry. This match is just unfair." He told his Pokémon. "I'll still win this for you, you're still strong. We'll train hard together, okay?"
The fish obviously didn't respond, though it smiled before Dipper called it back into its Pokéball. Standing back up, the score was now even. Though in a sense, it really wasn't; Robbie took out one of his own Pokémon, alongside two of Dipper's, meaning Robbie had taken down three and Dipper had only KO'd one.
Getting into the short specifics, Dipper was losing.
But the boy tried his best to remain unfazed. With only two Pokémon left, and one in too much of a weakened state…
"Alright, here we go!" With internal hesitation, but external determination, Dipper threw out his next Pokéball. "Go Combee!"
Out popped the aforementioned bee Pokémon, her wings fluttering quickly as she readied herself for the battle against Robbie and his Mightyena. The hyena Pokémon snarled as Robbie simply chuckled dryly, shrugging.
"Seriously? Sheesh, why is your team so weak?!" He mocked. "You gotta be kidding me, dude. You've talked a big game for a month-long journey, but you're all bark and just no bite."
Dipper didn't respond. Instead, he just grunted. He had a good feeling about this. Bug-Type was super effective against Dark-Type. Maybe, just maybe…
He pointed a finger outward. "Combee! Use Bug Bite!"
Immediately the bee Pokémon darted forward toward Mightyena, circling around it in the air. Mightyena was confused trying to follow her with its eyes, with how fast she was moving, and after trying to lunge at her, it missed and crashed into the street. Combee took the opportunity to dive down at the hyena Pokémon and bite hard into its temple multiple times, making it cry out in pain and surprise.
"Nng!" Robbie's eyes widened; he was surprised that Dipper's Combee was so agile and strategic on her own. "Why you little…!"
"Hmph!" Dipper smirked and crossed his arms. "She's a mean, lean, fighting machine!"
After blinking a bit, Robbie closed his eyes, shaking his head with a chuckle. "Alright, I'll give you that one…but don't forget about Intimidate."
"Intimidate…?" Dipper blinked before he gasped in remembrance. As stated in the Pokédex, Mightyena did have Intimidate for its ability.
"Hopefully you know what that ability does." Robbie placed one hand on his hip. "Intimidate lowers an opponent Pokémon's physical attack power, thus rendering attacks like Bug Bite weaker and not as useful."
"Dammit…" Dipper muttered. An ability like that would make fighting Mightyena a lot harder. Thankfully, Combee's incredible agility meant she wouldn't be taking many hits. "Alright…if I can just whittle it down…maybe, just maybe I can do this."
"Keep telling yourself that! Maybe you won't cry as hard when you lose!" Robbie taunted, still smirking.
"J-Just shut it!" Dipper stammered. "Combee! Bug Bite again!"
Combee soared up and quickly circled around Mightyena again. However, this time, Mightyena was smiling, and Robbie seemed very confident in his abilities to counter the attack this time. He snapped his fingers.
"Counterattack with Poison Fang!"
At the most precise moment, Mightyena leaped up and snatched Combee out of the air, the bee Pokémon dangling in its mouth. As the hyena Pokémon landed, it bit hard with glowing purple fangs onto Combee, making her yell out in pain as Mightyena threw her about, almost tearing into her.
"A-Ah! Oh no, Combee!" Dipper called out in fear and concern, eyes wide and hands shaking. It was hard to watch his beloved Pokémon get brutally attacked.
Though the attack thankfully failed to inflict poison on the boy's Pokémon, it still dealt incredible amounts of damage to her. Robbie watched in satisfaction as his Mightyena continued to damage and attack Dipper's Combee, knowing this would all be over in a matter of moments. Then, all that would be left would be to take out his Monferno.
Heh…bummer, I was hoping to use my secret weapon. But I'm not gonna have to. Talk about a serious pushover.
"N-No, Combee! I know you can get free!" Dipper pleaded. "Y-You're strong! You can beat him! I know you can! Please, Combee! PLEASE!"
And then, at that moment, Mightyena stopped moving, letting go of the bee, eyes wide, as Combee flashed and began to glow. Robbie's smirk faded, Dipper stopped panicking and stared with wonder. All of the by-standing audience members couldn't believe their eyes.
"N-No…" Robbie muttered in annoyance. "It's…i-it's evolving!"
Combee fluttered about, starting to change shape. Her body grew larger, into a much more detailed figure, with a small but pointed head, two arms, and a large beehive or honeycomb shaped appendage from the bottom. At least, that was what Dipper could tell from the glowing figure before him. Finally, the glowing ceased as particles burst from the newly evolved Pokémon.
Hastily, Dipper checked her with his Pokédex.
Vespiquen, the Beehive Pokémon
Type: Bug/Flying
Ability: Pressure
It releases various pheromones to make the grubs in its body do its bidding while fighting foes.
Vespiquen was a bee-like Pokémon with yellow and black striped abdomen resembling an elegant ballroom gown. Underneath the expansive abdomen were honeycomb-like cells that could serve as a nest for baby Combee. However, it appeared to have a slender, more insect-like abdomen in the centermost cell, which was inconspicuous as the 'dress' obstructed the view of it. Vespiquen had black, skinny arms with two orange claws and flies with a pair of relatively small wings on its back. Its yellow upper body was a nearly perfect sphere and its waist was black and slender. A curved line on its back between its shoulders separated its thorax and waist. Vespiquen's orange face had intimidating red eyes, oversized, yellow, protruding mandibles, and a red gem on its forehead. The top portion of its head was similar to a headpiece with yellow and black horn-like projections, resembling a hairstyle historically favored by early medieval-period English queens.
Lucas smiled from the sidelines, crossing his arms. "And now, the tables have turned…"
Dipper smiled wide and leaped in the air with happiness. "Yeeeeessss! Combee, you evolved into Vespiquen!"
"Th-This doesn't change anything!" Now Robbie was the one feeling slightly uneasy. "Mightyena can still take down that stupid little bee!"
"Oh yeah Robbie?" Dipper smirked and crossed his arms. "This queen bee's got a whole new set of moves to use on you."
"W-What do you mean…?" The teen was taken aback.
The boy extended a hand. "Go now, Vespiquen! Power Gem!"
Vespiquen readied her small hands together by her chest, a large sphere of light forming between her claws. The ball eventually split into five glowing rhombuses that surrounded her, which then shot towards Mightyena in beams of glistening light, striking the hyena Pokémon hard. It whimpered and yelped, as an explosion of dust and sparkles surrounded the battlefield. Robbie covered his eyes with an arm to avoid the dust, and when it cleared and he looked at the scene once again, his eyes widened.
Mightyena was unconscious.
"Well then, they're really going at it, huh Aster?"
The Whismur murmured in agreement. Zinnia smiled and sat, perched atop the Veilstone Department Store, watching the battle from high above. The whole time she had been observing, her smile never left her face. She had the whole scenario mapped out in her head.
"It's going as planned." She muttered. "To see their strengths and weaknesses…it's perfect.
"Busting that teen outta jail was the first part. I needed to see if he would be someone who could really be strong, and wield that power…to see if he could be a formidable opponent. Maybe giving that guitar to him wasn't a mistake after all.
"Plus, he's battling his rival. Not only is he finding his own sort of vengeance or closure or whatever, but he's testing that kid too. In the end, I'm testing them both. I get to kill two birds with one stone. Not only do I get to see how powerful Robbie really can be, but I can see how powerful Dipper can be.
"That's all this is, Aster. It's a test. They both have stories to finish. I can just sense it…that this is something that has to happen. It's a fated battle. These two have to become even stronger. And in the end, that's what will happen."
Aster muttered a small cry. Zinnia looked down and patted its head softly.
"Don't worry, Aster." The girl said. "I don't intend on either of them getting hurt."
The Pokémon looked up at its trainer. Her smile was finally gone as she stared at the ongoing battle with a serious gaze.
"Dipper is going to lose. He has to. Now is not the time for him to win."
Robbie recalled his fainted Mightyena, Dipper triumphantly facing his opponent, Vespiquen hovering before him. Now Dipper had the upper hand, having two Pokémon left while Robbie only had one. Of course, he knew what Pokémon he'd be going against now. The teen's starter Pokémon, Totodile, which was a Water-Type. Though, given everything that had been done to Robbie's team, it had probably evolved by now.
His team has been consistently Level 38 across the board…but what does Totodile evolve into again? Croconaw, I think it's called? Sheesh, this is gonna be tough…but I'm gonna have to be ready.
So Dipper waited.
And waited.
But Robbie stood silently, not calling out his next Pokémon.
Confused, Dipper stood back up straight. "Aren't…you gonna call out your last Pokémon…?"
The teen was still silent, before he smirked. Then he chuckled. Chuckles became giggles, and giggles became full on laughs. He was practically holding his sides as he cackled manically, making everyone surprised, uncomfortable, disturbed, etc.
"U-Uhmm…" Dipper felt some sweat roll down his face as he stepped back. "R-Robbie…?"
The laughter halted abruptly as Robbie looked back up at his opponent with a sinister grin, withdrawing his fourth and final Pokéball.
"Game. Set. Match."
He threw it out.
"Go Feraligatr!"
The Pokéball popped open, and out came a very large, blue, humanoid reptilian Pokémon, with red spikes and fins. It roared into the air as it landed with a large thud onto the streets, standing upright menacingly. Everybody was silent.
Fearfully, Dipper slowly analyzed it with his Pokédex.
Feraligatr, the Big Jaw Pokémon
Type: Water
Ability: Torrent
It usually moves slowly, but it goes at blinding speed when it attacks and bites prey.
Feraligatr was a bulky, bipedal crocodilian Pokémon that was primarily blue with accents of red and yellow. A notable feature of Feraligatr was its large, powerful jaws that would be able to bite and lock down on opponents. Three pointed teeth were visible when Feraligatr closed its mouth, two from the lower jaw and one from the upper. Feraligatr had three sets of spikes on its body: one on its head, one on its back, and one near the tip of its tail. The one on its back appeared particularly prominent, due to its size and the bulk of Feraligatr's shoulders. It had a bisected, V-shaped yellow pattern between its thighs. Feraligatr also had large scales on its arms, tail, and legs.
Its intimidating appearance was enough to shake Dipper down to his core. He was horrified of the beastly Pokémon before him. The tall crocodilian Pokémon roared once again as Robbie chuckled.
"My strongest teammate. You can't beat him." He said, smirking. "He's no longer the scrawny Totodile I came to Sinnoh with. He's a ruthless fighting machine who can and will destroy you, Dipper."
Dipper trembled, then swallowed. He stiffened his body and readied himself, building up some determination. "I-I'm gonna do my best…I'm not gonna lose! I will find a way to prevail!"
"Ha, yeah. Okay then." Robbie placed his hands in his pockets. "Feraligatr, take it down with a Slash attack."
Feraligatr obeyed and charged forward quickly, claws glowing brightly as it prepared to take out Vespiquen. Dipper shivered a bit, though he did have an idea on how to counterattack the Pokémon completely, possibly allowing him to turn the match in his favor.
"Vespiquen! Toughen up with Defense Order!" He commanded.
The queen bee Pokémon summoned multiple, small glowing bumblebees, which circled around her body, creating a yellow puff of smoke. When it cleared, she glowed red for a moment before getting ready to block the attack. Once Feraligatr was close enough, it slashed at her, only for its claws to be caught in her arms and mandibles.
"W-What?!" Robbie was shocked. "It just…it took the hit!"
"Defense Order is one of Vespiquen's signature moves, according to my Pokédex!" Dipper smirked. "It greatly boosts her defense, so of course she can take a hard hit!"
Robbie grunted. "D-Damn you…!"
"Now Vespiquen! Toxic, go!" The boy commanded.
Vespiquen's mandibles glowed a bright purple as she slowly backed up, letting go of Feraligatr and making it stumble, before she charged forward and stabbed her mandibles into its snout. Feraligatr winced and roared in pain as in softly turned a purplish hue, indicating it was now poisoned.
"Yes! Perfect!" Dipper pumped a fist in success. "Now Feraligatr will go down soon enough!"
Robbie eyed him irritably, before he smirked. He pointed a hand out. "Feraligatr! Take it out with Ice Fang!"
Dipper's eyes widened. "V-Vespiquen, dodge it! G-Get out of there!"
But it was too late. By the time Vespiquen had managed to get her mandibles unstuck from Feraligatr's snout, the bipedal croc Pokémon had already snapped at her with its gaping maw and bright, glowing blue teeth. A puff of icy smoke appeared around the area, making everyone shiver, as the super effective Ice-Type attack was enough to send Vespiquen to the ground before Dipper, knocking it out.
The boy stared in shock before sighing, recalling his precious Pokémon. "Vespiquen, you were just amazing. You did wonderful, get a nice, long rest." He smiled slightly, feeling proud of his whole team by this point.
"Welp, all that's left is your puny Monferno, right?" His rival smirked. "Talk about a major disadvantage."
"W-Well, hey, that poison is gonna knock out Feraligatr soon!" Dipper pointed out, as Feraligatr winced in pain. "Plus, Monferno can be agile enough to strike it and evade attacks!"
"You really think you can take out my starter?" Robbie crossed his arms. "Just look at his level."
"His level…?" The capped boy quickly pulled his Pokédex out again, checking its level. "Shouldn't it be…wait…it's Level 45?!"
Over on the sidelines, Mabel gasped. "Whoa…level 45? Wow, that's…that's strong!"
"Sheesh, the dude's got a serious opponent to worry about!" Soos commented.
"This will truly be a difficult, difficult hurdle to overcome." Lucas said. "But it is possible for the boy to come out the victor. He just needs to play his card right…"
Wendy just stared in disbelief and concern. This somehow hurt her to see.
Dipper, Robbie…I thought it'd be fun for all of us dorks to have an adventure together. Why do you guys have to just…go and do this?
"…no matter." Dipper stood up straight, clenching his fists. "The level doesn't matter, the type doesn't matter, and even the moves don't matter. I have a plan, and that plan will no doubt end with your defeat!"
Robbie didn't respond, he just smiled.
"This battle is over!" He threw out his last Pokéball. "Go Monferno!"
Out popped Dipper's starter. Monferno landed on the pavement and growled, having seemed to have worked through its previous injuries from fighting Kricketune earlier. It didn't even seem fazed that it was going against a tall and powerful Water-Type Pokémon like Feraligatr.
"This is it, Monferno! Let's kick Feraligatr's teeth in!" Dipper shouted, pulling a cry of bravery from his Pokémon. "We are gonna win this!"
"…alright, I'll admit. I admire your determination dude." Robbie said, rather seriously, without a smirk or a look of anger. A face of apathy was all he showed. "You're pretty pumped to keep it going til the end, to beat my Feraligatr. But…dude, trust me, you won't. You're not gonna win."
"Stop telling me that!" Dipper shouted. "As long as I believe–"
"Just stop dude." Robbie shook his head. "You're not winning. Cause my secret weapon is gonna blow you to smithereens."
"What…?" The boy blinked. "Spill it now Robbie…what the heck is your secret weapon?"
After a moment of silence…Robbie smirked.
"This."
Robbie quickly pulled the guitar on him around to his front. It was a red electric guitar, stylized like a "Flying V" guitar. The strange thing about it, though, was what Dipper saw in the bottom left corner of the guitar. Partially inserted into the instrument, in a compartment seemingly made for it, was a small ball, about the size of a marble. It was at the same time that Dipper noticed something around Feraligatr's neck; a black collar, with a slightly bigger marble inserted into the front of it.
Both marbles looked the same in terms of design.
Lucas' eyes widened. "N-No way, that's a…!"
Robbie strummed a few cords on the guitar, smirking wide. "It's show time."
As he began to pick up speed and play a fairly loud guitar riff, the marble began to glow and expel light. At the same time, Feraligatr was surrounded by light from the marble in its collar. It became nothing but a black silhouette encompassed in a bright pinkish-white light, as Robbie continued to play the riff. Air streams brushed by everyone, dust and smoke picking up and expelling outwards as sparks of light and plasma jutted out from the large light that surrounded Feraligatr.
"Unveil your true power, Feraligatr!" Robbie shouted, stopping his riff. "MEGA EVOLVE!"
The light seemingly exploded away, revealing Feraligatr once again, though it had taken on a new appearance. It was now taller by a bit, and its body was now much more 'armored', gaining cylindrical plating around its forearms and shoulders, as well as its legs, the back of its neck, and the length of its tail. Instead of having one yellow 'V' marking going across its abdomen, now it had two, one across its pelvic area and one around its chest. The spikes on its head were now much taller and jagged, and it had a much spikier tail. Sets of red spikes also protruded from the cylindrical plating on its forearms. The most noticeable difference in its appearance, though, were the large wings that protruded from its back.
Dipper stared at the new Feraligatr in shock and amazement. He couldn't believe his eyes. What the heck just happened?!
Almost immediately, he checked it on his Pokédex.
Mega Feraligatr, the Big Jaw Pokémon
Type: Water/Dragon
Ability: Battle Armor
Its body is often deemed indestructible. However, its claws are so sharp, it could tear into itself if it wanted.
"What the…?!" Dipper's Pokédex fell from his hands and clattered onto the pavement below. "What is that?!"
"Whoa, it just…changed form!" Pacifica gasped. "Is that the process of Mega Evolution…?"
"Indeed it is."
They looked over to see Professor Sycamore standing there, along with Dexio and Sina. The professor's arms were crossed, and he had a serious look on his face.
"Robbie's keystone is embedded in his guitar." He explained. "And that collar around Feraligatr's neck holds the mega stone required for it to undergo Mega Evolution."
"I've never even seen a Mega Feraligatr before…" Dexio muttered, watching intently.
"Not every Pokémon can mega evolve, but the ones that can require their needed Mega Stone." Sina explained. "Mega Stones are incredibly rare, though, so I can only wonder where and how Robbie got what might be one of the rarest stones out there…"
Robbie chuckled and put the guitar back around him, pointing a hand out towards Dipper and his equally as surprised Monferno.
"Hydro Cannon."
Mega Feraligatr leaned back, raising its head up. Its cheeks puffed up as water was seemingly pulled from the air and into its mouth. Then, once its mouth was basically full of water, it bent over and shot out a very, very large, bursting stream of water, which rocketed towards the monkey Pokémon. Monferno barely had time to react before the attack struck, sending it flying back past Dipper, past the crowd of people, and into a tree at the far end of the street. However, the tree snapped, as did the one behind that, and the one behind that, and so on, for at least seven trees. That was when the water finally dissipated.
Everybody was silent and shocked, and nobody moved. Dipper stood there, staring at where his Pokémon had been thrown off to, before he slowly pulled out his Pokéball. The beam of light from it traveled far before finally recalling his surely unconscious Monferno. As he put the ball away, he turned to see Robbie recalling Feraligatr, and the teen was grinning.
"I win." Was all he said.
Dipper collapsed to his knees and stared at the ground. He couldn't believe it. He was so sure he'd turn everything around and inevitably win, but in the end…
"Freeze!"
The boy hastily looked up and saw police cars nearby, officers quickly running to Robbie. The teen chuckled and willingly held his hands up.
"Whatever, officers. I did the one thing that I wanted to take care of, you can take me away."
A new pair of cuffs was attached to his wrists as he was escorted to a police car. Before he could reenter, though, he locked eyes with Wendy in the audience. He nodded a fairly smug and arrogant nod, before getting into the car. The officers entered their vehicles and drove back off towards Veilstone Penitentiary, leaving everybody in silence.
Dipper felt his eyes get blurry and his face get wet. He didn't even realize it, but he was crying. He put his Pokémon through such a hell, all for nothing. It made him feel awful, like there was a pit in his stomach. The boy treated them so recklessly when he didn't even need to, and it got them all badly hurt in the end.
He noticed Mabel come over and sit beside him, and the silence continued as they hugged.
I honestly can't believe I destroyed that little twerp.
Robbie was still smirking as he sat in the back of the police car. It was evening now on the way back to the prison. He sat on the right side, and to the left was a brown knapsack, one that was 'found in the Game Corner'. It did belong to him, and it contained his own belongings, and currently also contained his four Pokémon.
That girl who broke me out sure did mean it when she said this guitar was super powerful. Mega Evolution is seriously kickass.
He said he wouldn't break out, all he wanted to do was train his Pokémon. But that Zinnia girl who appeared to him made him an offer that was too good to be true.
'I can get you out, give you a seriously awesome power for your Pokémon, and let you fight your rival', she said to me. She was daaaaamn right.
The Mega Evolution process for his Feraligatr wasn't a lie after all. It made his starter more powerful, far stronger than when it was just a Croconaw, or even way back when it was a little Totodile.
"Totodile suits you, Robbie! I'd say that's a perfect pick."
Robbie still smirked, but internally winced. That was Wendy's voice in his head. He remembered the day, a month ago, when they arrived in Sinnoh, and he had received his starter Pokémon from Professor Rowan. It was complete accident that he picked Totodile, but in the end, he liked that choice. It seemed cool.
Heh…yeah. It was cool.
And then she showed him how to catch Pokémon, and he caught Kricketot. Then Totodile evolved into Croconaw shortly after Floaroma Town. Then Kricketot evolved into Kricketune during the battle with Gardenia. Then he caught Poochyena on his way to Hearthome.
…and all my Pokémon supported me throughout then. Even Electrode seemed to like me when I stole him from prison before breaking out.
His smirk faded. He hadn't realized it, but his Pokémon were…friendly. They weren't fighting machines, but he sure made his team into them. Totodile, his starter Pokémon. Kricketot, his first catch. Poochyena, practically his pet. Electrode, his partner-in-crime. They all saw light in him no matter what.
Did they even still see that light?
…I did this all just so I could kick a twelve-year-old's ass. What the fuck…
Robbie's head drooped, and he sat there drearily. He had made everything worse, and with nothing good having come out of it. All he had done was screw everything up.
I turned my team into heartless monsters…I tried to slow down Dipper by shooting that Gym Leader…and then I went and kicked his butt in a pointless Pokémon battle. In the end I hurt my Pokémon, his Pokémon, and even almost killed a real person…
…I'm a monster.
He felt a tear drop from his eye.
I'll never redeem myself…I can't have a second chance.
Robbie sat in silence for a few minutes, before something caught his eye. He glanced over to the open knapsack. One other thing that sat inside of it, poking out a bit, was a Pokémon egg. It was a Pokémon egg he had stolen that day.
He had stolen it last night, from Soos.
It shook a little bit, before cracking. Robbie's eyes widened before the top of the egg broke off and a head peeked out. Then a couple of arms protruded. The rest of the egg took up its body. The baby Pokémon looked up at Robbie and chirped.
Surprised, Robbie blinked, before seeing his Pokédex in the side pocket of the knapsack. He adjusted himself to pull it out and activate it.
Togepi, the Spike Ball Pokémon
Type: Fairy
Ability: Super Luck
It transforms the kindness and joy of others into happiness, which it stores in its shell.
Togepi was a small, light yellow Pokémon with a round body that was still encased in its eggshell. The egg had red and blue triangular shapes on it. Togepi had stubby hands and round feet with two toes each. Togepi also had black eyes and five spikes on its head that seemed to form a crown. It also had semi-oval, brown pads on the soles of its feet.
The baby Pokémon once again chirped for Robbie, and the teen smiled a warm smile at it.
Maybe he did have a second chance after all.
That night, spirits were admittedly pretty high. To make up for the hellish day and put it behind them, the gang treated everyone once again to a fabulous dinner. It was mainly to celebrate Dipper and his Pokémon, for putting up a good fight and for the evolution of his Combee into Vespiquen. People dined on glorious meats and salads and any sweets and pastries they could find for desert.
It would ring up a pretty penny of a bill, but Lucas was willing to pay for it.
"I'll admit, you did your best out there…" Gideon said, who had agreed to join them for the meal, much to everyone's surprise. He leaned back in his seat and crossed his arms, having not eaten much food. "You showed a lot of skill and battle prowess. It makes me want to have another battle with ya myself."
Dipper chuckled a bit and shoved some steak into his mouth. "Yeah, sure. Maybe someday soon. Of course, I'm sure I'd kick your butt."
"But I have a legendary, you know." Gideon retorted which got the attention of a few others.
"What?" Lazy Susan spoke up. "Ya have a legendary?"
"Oh yeah, that's right." Wendy muttered. "That small dork caught the legendary Pokémon Regirock in Wayward Cave a while back."
"Whoooooa! So you must be, like, super-duper strong now!" Grenda said with a grin.
"I've always been strong, thank you very much." Gideon rolled his eyes.
"It's impressive to have a legendary Pokémon." Lucas chuckled. "It's surprising how catching them doesn't even screw up the flow of the Earth."
Dipper swallowed some more food and looked to the champion. "Hey, Lucas…you never told us what legendary Pokémon you have."
"Wait, YOU have a legendary Pokémon, Lucas?!" Mabel leaped up in excitement. "Awesome! Which one which one which one?"
Lucas smiled, slightly abashed. "Eheh, don't ask too many questions…I'd rather just leave it as a surprise."
"Aw boooooo…" Mabel sunk back in her seat.
Meanwhile, amidst the commotion, Soos looked over at his own rival, and saw him deep in thought. "Somethin' on your mind, Deuce?"
"Mm?" The other man looked over, snapping out of his thoughts. "Oh, it's nothing, just…I've been wondering, how the heck did Robbie break out of jail?"
Everyone went silent and looked to Deuce, that very question now running through everyone's heads. How DID Robbie break out of prison…? However, almost a minute after going silent, Mabel's eyes widened as she felt something in her bag start to rumble.
"U-Uh, guys…?" She reached into her bag and pulled out a shaking Pokéball. "W-What's happening to the Pokéball?"
"What the…? Why's it shaking so much?" Pacifica asked.
"I-I don't know…!" Suddenly, Mabel gasped and fell back with a shout of surprise as the Pokéball popped open, revealing a floating, purple Pokémon, with a gas-like body. It laughed as Mabel seemed visibly startled. The girl got back up and looked at the Pokémon in wonder, as did everyone else.
"Ooh, what Pokémon is that, Mabel?" Candy asked in intrigue.
"Where'd you catch it?" Lazy Susan also asked.
"I-I don't…huh?" Mabel hastily pulled out her Pokédex.
Gastly, the Gas Pokémon
Type: Ghost/Poison
Ability: Levitate
Born from gases, anyone would faint if engulfed by its gaseous body, which contains poison.
"Huh…?" Mabel looked back up at the Pokémon. "When did I catch a Gastly?"
Soos thought for a moment before he had an idea. "Oh wait! I think you caught it in the Lost Tower, dude!"
"In the Lost Tower?"
"Yeah! Remember? You were throwing Pokéballs everywhere after I scared ya."
"Oh, heh, right…" Mabel blushed in embarrassment. "Well…welcome to the team, Gastly!"
The group decided to head off to their rooms early. Having separate rooms this time meant they'd each be sleeping alone instead of bunking with each other, which of course meant Dipper could stay up to study the egg and not be pestered by Mabel to go back to sleep. He wrapped the egg in a small blanket and placed it on the bed, slightly wiping it down with an unused tissue to keep dust off of it.
"Heh, don't worry little guy…I'll take care of you." He smiled. The lack of response from the egg was expected, but it still made him sigh.
Dipper started to wonder if the egg would ever hatch. It had been fifty years since it was ever conceived, and if it hasn't hatched yet, why would it hatch now? Did the Pokémon fetus inside just…die over time, or something…? What was putting this egg into limbo? Just what…?
It was then Dipper heard the sound of paper sliding across the tiled floor, as he saw an envelope slip underneath the door to his room. He quickly hopped up from his bed and opened the door, looking left and right down the hall. Nobody…how strange. Regardless, he picked up the letter and sat on the bed. It was blank on the front and back, but when he opened it to read what was inside, he gasped at what was written.
Dipper,
There has been a change in plans. The girl with the Rotom has discovered the secret. In the Galactic Building in Eterna City, there is a room with appliances specially fitted for Rotom to enter, which allows it to change form. Upon form change, its type will also change. Right now, instead of being an Electric/Ghost-Type, it is an Electric/Ice-Type. It is possible for it to also become Electric/Fire, Electric/Water, Electric/Grass, and Electric/Flying.
Rotom is a very important Pokémon to me and my research, and the fact that I trust you with this information is because I find you to be a much more competent individual than most of the other people I work with. Just between you and me, of course. Now, I'm not going to ask you to steal the Rotom from that girl, oh no. But you need to stay by that girl. When I next see you, which is going to be in the not too distant future, I will reveal my identity to you.
Rotom is part of my studies of the Sinnoh Mythical Pokémon, and the mythos expands upon more than just his form changing capabilities. There is a man you and your sister met in Eterna City, one with connections to Darkrai. That Pokémon is related to the mythos, and how that man has knowledge of it, I don't know. But his plans are far from over. When you see him again, be wary. His research and mine are far different. What we want are drastically different.
Be on guard, and keep up your training. You will need to be prepared for the oncoming battles, as your journey will only get harder from here.
And even though others know about my previous instructions, do me a favor and refrain entirely from telling anyone about this specific note.
C
Dipper was shocked and speechless. He had almost entirely forgotten about his instructions from the mysterious 'C'. What he had written…well, it was a lot to process, really. Whoever this strange man was, he was expecting a lot from the boy. And now he was being let in on an entirely separate, hidden mythos revolving around the region and its Mythical Pokémon…?
*Crack*
The boy was pulled from his thoughts, his eyes wide as his head snapped over to the left to stare at the egg. There was a chip in the top of it, and it wiggled a little bit. Then the crack slowly and steadily grew, running jaggedly down the sides, and splitting off a little bit here and there. The egg shook more and more, and Dipper couldn't believe it. Finally, the shell shattered and fell into multiple pieces.
The egg had finally hatched.
The bipedal Pokémon that emerged from it struggled a bit, wobbling and shaking as it crawled out onto the bed, trying to find balance. It opened its eyes and looked around, and once it noticed Dipper, it smiled and leaped into his lap. Surprised, but happy, Dipper began to pet its head as he took out the Pokédex.
Bulbasaur, the Seed Pokémon
Type: Grass/Poison
Ability: Overgrow
For some time after its birth, it grows by gaining nourishment from the seed on its back.
Bulbasaur was a small, quadruped Pokémon that had blue-green skin with darker green patches. It had red eyes with white pupils and sclerae and pointed, ear-like structures on top of its head. Its snout was short and blunt, and it had a wide mouth. A pair of small, pointed teeth were visible in the upper jaw when its mouth was open. Each of its thick legs end with three sharp claws. On its back was a green plant bulb, which is typically grown from a seed planted there at birth. The bulb provides it with energy through photosynthesis as well as from the nutrient-rich seeds contained within.
Dipper put his Pokédex down and just kept petting his new friend. Today was already a big enough day, now it was time to just relax, and doing it with a new Pokémon, and teammate, seemed perfect.
The next morning, all the way in Sandgem Town, Professor Rowan sat in a chair, sipping coffee. And next to him, fidgeting impatiently where he stood, was a tall male in his early twenties. He was blond, with his hair being somewhat pointed on the ends. He wore a black shirt, and over it, an unzipped, orange and white striped, long sleeve short-vest, which extended halfway down his torso. He had on blue jeans, white sneakers, and a green scarf around his neck.
"Ughhhhhh, old man, when are they getting herrrrreeee!" He complained.
"Calm down Barry." Rowan sipped some more coffee. "They'll be here soon."
"I just wanna meet this foreign professor dude already…" Barry muttered. "I just wish he'd–"
At that moment, the door opened, and the two looked over to see who had just entered the lab. He was a tall man, with somewhat tanned skin. He had a black shirt, green shorts, and a long white lab coat. He also wore some tinted sunglasses, and had his hair back in a downward bun. He also wore a baseball cap.
"How are ya doing, brother?" He chuckled. "Professor Kukui, reporting from Alola!"
-(End Of Chapter)-
To be continued!
…whoa. Just…whoa.
This…was a LONG chapter.
…I really hope you guys liked this. I spent MONTHS trying to put this chapter together and make it as PERFECT as I possibly could. Being the Season 3 finale and all, this chapter had to be big, and had to be grand. So of course, I knew what I'd need to include.
From the start, I knew Robbie had to come back. I wanted him to make a grand reappearance, and I wanted him to do even bigger things. I wanted him to fight Dipper, I wanted him to be stronger, I wanted him to win, I wanted him to show off Mega Evolution for the first time, I wanted him to show a new Mega, and I wanted all of these characters to appear. I wanted to make this…just…grand. To answer loads of questions, and open up bigger ones. I think I succeeded.
Now…Season 4 is, of course, on the way, and here is what to expect!
Gideon and Deuce will appear much more frequently. Despite the two of them being main characters, they've only had, like, 7-8 appearances each in the whole story so far. So they'll make more appearances in the fourth season and onward. Zinnia will continue to make more appearances and will get an expanded role. Candy, Grenda, Lazy Susan, Lucas, and most importantly Robbie, are all gonna be fully main characters from now on, and will make plenty of more appearances. Stan will appear more and add on to the big mystery surrounding his and Rowan's childhood journeys. Professor Rowan, Sycamore, and Kukui will all collaborate on research and will appear here and there. Oh, along with Dexio, Sina, and the newly introduced Barry Cedric, who, for those who don't know, was actually the rival character from Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.
Also, of course, Mega Evolution will play a very pivotal role in Season 4 and onwards…so be ready for more of that! ;)
Anyways…that's all for now, this chapter is already long enough.
So...how about that cipher?
"PHJD HYROXWLRQ LV QRW WKH RQOB PBVWHUB VLQQRK LV KLGLQJ. WKHUH LV DQRWKHU IULHQG RI OXFDV DQG EDUUB. QHAW VHDVRQ ZLOO HQG ZLWK D EDQJ. RQOB FOXH LV: UXQQLQJ RXW RI WLPH."
Might wanna solve this one. Just saying.
Anyways, I hope you've enjoyed this painfully long chapter, as well as this entire season, reviews are highly, highly appreciated, and as always…
Stay Tuned!
