Christian

My desk calls me in over the phone "Mr. Grey, this is the new secretary on the ground floor. I have a woman here my Katherine Kavanagh requesting to see you." Oh great this day was going good so far. I did not need this right now.

"Thank you for the call. Have security escort her to one of the boardrooms on my floor." I say quickly and then hang up. I do not know how to be civil in this type of situation. This woman insulted my relationship my wife, said we had a bad relationship and the more horrendous offense was she made Ana cry. Making my wife cry was probably what made me dislike Kavanagh the most. Ana was an innocent soul who stood by me when I was a complete fuck up and having her friend judge her this harshly was over board.

I walk passed my secretary and the intern and they both blanched when they saw my facial expression. There was also relief because for the first time it wasn't aimed at them. I push open the door to the boardroom and see a very angry looking Kavanagh sitting in one of the swivel chairs.

"Well look who finally decided to grace me with his presence." Her sarcasm was very irritating

"Says the person who comes to see a CEO of a company with no prior notice and just expects him to drop everything and talk to some media hound." She thinks she can intimidate me?

"Well you are here now speaking to me and now we have to discuss Ana." She sits up in her seat and sits correctly at the table waiting for me to take a seat. Fine, I will indulge this woman.

"Discussing my wife without her here is wrong but just to let you know I want to convey my upmost hatred for the things you have said to her. You had no right to criticize our relationship when you do not live your life too virtuously. Know that I find nothing wrong with your lifestyle and a woman liking to life the same lifestyle as a man is nothing to be ashamed of but with what you have you should understand that we choose how we live our lives. Ana and I live how we wish and we do not and will not have to run our choices passed you for approval. Ana wanted to share her news with you and all you did was tear up down." I say. To be honest this is the longest conversation I have had with this women including when I knew her when she was younger.

"You took some of the best year away from her Grey! She was supposed to go out and party at college. Have boyfriends and sex but no she was at home." She slams her hands down on my table.

"What are you delusional? Do you not know her at all?" I exclaim

"I don't know what you mean." She evades the question.

"Ana was never one for a party. My wife would pick Jane Austen over a party any day. She did not go out of her way to party? Really you are mad about that? Ana is an adult and can make her own choices. And so what if she does not want the same life as you? She loves me and I love her. We are married and she wants to be with me after the distance that we went through. She was nice enough to you and wanted to still spend time with you even though I begged her to just stay with me. All your complaining has done is push her into my arms." I say

"Ana always had you it seems" she says with an angry mumble.

"Yeah she always had me. I loved her since high school and when we got married we did so without anyone by us. And if this is how you are going to act about it, Ana and I will survive it. I don't know if you want to see or talk to my wife but you hurt her which I will not stand for. If you cannot get with the program you can step the fuck out of our lives. Do you understand?" I say harshly. She will not darken our lives with her bull shit.

She nods and but still has an angry face on.

"Talk to my brother. I am prepared to kick my father out of my life for his words against Ana. I will not hesitate when it comes to you Kavanagh." I stand and walk out of the boardroom.

Taylor follows close behind and enters my office with me.

"Sir is everything ok?" he says from his place in the middle of the room.
"Well I know you went to go and get Ana's things from her former roommate's house and she dropped my today for lunch. Kavanagh came here today to try and do God know what. She really is mad at me for having Ana in my life like she has any right to claim Ana in her totality." I explain.

"Well she really was not happy to see me this morning I can tell you that. Also she is extremely lax on security. The door was not locked when I went there this morning and there are no security gates or locks on the windows that connect to the terrace and the ones that are next to the fire exits…sir" he conveys.

"What?!"

Taylor

Holy Shit! I thought that telling him this would make him feel better about her being at Escala. I sure wish Ana was here to temper this anger.

"My wife was there and anything could have happened to her! FUCKING KAVANAGH!" He screams my ears off. Now he is on a role and on about how he really hates her for endangering Ana's life. Eventually he dismisses me and I sent a quick text to Gail.

I walk back into his office as he is still pacing and mumbling angrily to himself. I thought she was going to call him?

**ring ring** his phone goes off.

He picks it up and glares at the screen. A younger picture engulfs the screen, him and Ana in caps and gowns smiling. I can't help but smirk. He is a big softy.

I only hear the one sided conversation but from what I can tell Ana is taking care of everything.

"Well she came here and I kept my cool… I wasn't being mean to people… I was just upset… I am sorry I know I shouldn't take this out on my staff." He walks over to his chair and sits in it. Thank God for Ana. While talking to Ana he starts typing.

Suddenly my phone pings.

Message from CRAZY BOSS in my email. That is what I call contact information for him

Calling my wife … slick – CTG

I smile and walk away before Ana gets off the phone with him.

I hang up with Christian and head back into the dressing room. Mia and Grace were waiting on the dress that I have chosen to wear. I am wearing my selection and I hope they like it. I step out and stand on the little stage. It is a white Greek goddess dress. It hugs the bust and flares out to the floor. It is modest but shows my arms and shoulders. With gold accents along the embellishments along the edges it showed off the jewels that highlighted my bust.

"Ana dear that is a great dress is to die for, I whole heartedly agree." Grace said while coming to stand next to me to see it better.

"Yes Ana this dress is great. You are getting this." Mia said while bounding over to me.

"I agree. I really like this one." I walk off the stage and go back to my dressing room and put on my normal clothes.

I walk out with my dress and try not looking at the price.

"Can I help you?" the cashier asks

"Yes I am buying this" I say while handing over the dress

"All of our sales are final ma'am" She said sternly.

"Okaay" I say

"Just wanted to make sure you understood our policy and we don't do exchanges here." She said pointedly.

"Is this your normal routine with every customer or just me? There is no need to be behind the bush." I say with a little more attitude.

"Well taking into account your Wal-mart attire I just want to make sure that you know their rules are not like ours." She says with a condescending tone.

"Believe me I can afford it." I say with a smile.

"Hmm" she says as she swipes my card and hands me back my dress.

"Oh Ana here you are. Mia and I just got our dresses." Grace says while handing over their things to the rude cashier.

"Oh hello Mrs. Grey, lovely dress you have chosen for yourself." The rude cashier decides to be nice to my mother in law and not me.

"Bitch" I mumble.

"What?" Mia mouths

I walk over to her "That cashier made a point to tell ME that this store doesn't do returns or exchanges based on what I was wearing. And now she is really nice to your mother." I grumble to her.

"Bitch" Mia agrees

Mia goes to talk to her mom and from the angry look on her face she didn't like what she found out.

When we are all done Grace gets on a roll.

"How dare she treat Ana like this?! Oh I am so going to talk to her manager." She is just like Christian, it is scary.

"No, no firing of anyone!" I say

"Can't we do a nice prank?" Mia hedges

"Is there ever such a thing?" I ask in return with a smile.

Mia goes on and Grace nods in return. Next week is when we are going to do this and we are going to drag Christian in to this too when I tell him tonight.

Christian

With the work day ending I am just looking forward to going home. Taylor waits for me in the truck and we quickly drive off to home. Home… I never really used to think about it in that term. Normally I would go to Escala and then eat and sleep and work out. I never used to look forward to going home I was always one to just stay. I was an introverted unhappy person. Not to say being introverted was back because its not, it was the unhappy part that is wrong. I love to stay home and watch movies with Ana and block out the world when we were younger but loneliness crept in.

We finally make it to Escala and no one is in the main room. Taylor goes to his area and I walk over to the bed room. I see Ana on the bed with beer and pizza flipping through channels.

"Hey baby!" she says as she settles on the God Father II.

"Hey whats this about?" I say as I wave to the food in the bed.

"It's movie night. I don't know about this movie but I want to watch a musical." My face quickly crumbles.

"Oh don't be like that Christian." She complains.

"Well since when is there a movie day?" I say as I take off my jacket, tie and shoes. I jump on the bed with her and dig into the pizza and pop open a beer.

"Well normally I do this with my friends when we aren't home in time to cook. It started in college with some of the roommates and then with Kate during the summers." She said with a shy smile. Oh her evil friend.

"I don't want to talk about her while we are having a good time." I say quickly

"Exactly let's watch Hairspray!" she says as she goes through my movie collection online.

"I don't like that. That John Travolta character never looked right." I say

"NOOOO the original Hairspray is way better! Watch and learn my Christian" she presses play and snuggles close to me.

This feels right and good. And it's not bad to have pizza and beer on hand too for our conversation about today. That will be put on hold until tomorrow morning.
