1: Somehow this didn't get added to the end of the previous chapter. I don't know how I misposted, but I did. Instead of tacking this on to the end, and potentially confusing people with the edit, I thought it best to just post it as a new chapter, and hopefully it makes sense now!
2: I have to apologize for the delays, my department was closed at my company, and its been a whirlwind getting everything in order and getting myself a new job. Hopefully things tone down now and I can post with more frequency and close this massively long story!
3: hopefully I am still keeping you engaged and your not getting bored with the storyline. I promise there is an end in sight for this!

Jane nervously ran her hand through her dark mane. She didn't like lose ends, and this envelope felt like a massive lose end. "This makes no sense." Jane mumbled to herself more then to anyone else.
"What doesn't?" Maura crossed her arms and leaned agains one of the desks, staring plainly at Jane as she waited for a response.
Jane turned to take Maura in, "The envelope, the flowers. How it got here. It just…"
"The timeline doesn't make sense?" Maura asked as she followed along "someone dropped it off, it wasn't mailed in advance." She trailed off, both realizing the gravity of the words she was about to say.
"Don't say it Maur" Jane pleaded. She couldn't deal with anything else right now.
"He's working with someone else" she whispered, falling into the desk as the weight of the situation took its effect.
"Yeah, we knew that already Maur, Rebecca. She's been dragged off." Jane smirked at the memory of watching her being lead out by the two suits, "theres no one left. We got them all".
Korsak came back with four coffees, carefully trying to move quickly while not spilling anything. Jane and Maura each took their own coffee as he put them down on the desk closest to Jane. "So, what did we find out?" he smiled as he adjusted his waistband. Jane and Maura looked at each other, unsure if they should say what their thinking out loud.
"Vince," Jane paused, carefully thinking out her plan, "we need to get all the surveillance footage, can you log into the system and see how much of what we can pull?" Korsak started nodding along, the both of them getting traction once the coffee started to work its way through their veins.
"Yeah, YEAH!" Korsak sat down at his desk and started typing on his computer, "We could pull not just from the precinct, but from the cameras outside, get a good look at how all this got here!"
"I got it!" Frost returns to the bullpen triumphantly holding a clear evidence bag with a yellow post it note inside. He handed it to Maura looked over the bag gently, as if afraid to ruin any potential evidence inside.
"I can take this down to the lab and start analyzing it", Jane moved in front of her, knowing that Maura was already deeply lost in whatever analytical process she was about to engage in. Jane smirked as Maura nearly ran into her, so deep in thought she was that she didn't realize the detective had been standing in her way. "Oh!" she gasped as she stopped herself from tripping over her "Jane! I am so sorry! I did't see you. Well, I mean, I saw you, I just didn't notice you." Maura furrowed her brow "I noticed you. That's not what I meant" She was blushing wildly as she tried to get around Jane who could hardly contain her own amusement at their unintended dance "Why are you not moving?"
"Because you are not going anywhere alone" Jane arched her eyebrow, waiting for realization to sink in. "We" she indicated between herself and Maura, "are not going anywhere until we get this solved. Together."
Maura stared at her blankly as Jane gave her time to process her statement. She opened her mouth a few times looking between the bag of evidence and Jane. "But...evidence" She meekly replied.
"Frost!" Kosak growled, hitting his monitor in frustration, "can you do that thing again?"
Frost rolled his eyes, "what thing old man?" he smirked as he leaned over his desk.
"The thing where you make it work!"Korsak grumbled as he moved his mouse across the desk wildly. "I hate these stupid computers, they never seem to respond to my commands!"
Frost smirked as he watched Korsak gesture wildly at the machine, hoping it would suddenly start working again. "Thats because they can't understand crazy, Korsak. Look, you probably were slamming on the keyboard again and froze the computer. These suckers are old, you have to be gentle with them." Frost pushed Korsak out of the way as he started pecking at the keyboard, trying to get the machine to come back to life. "What the hell...?"
"HA! See! It wasn't me!" Korak announced triumphantly as he watched Frost continue to peck at the keyboard. He smiled broadly at Jane and Maura.
"No, look. Here." Frost points to the screen rubbing his chin reflexively. "Someone is trying to control the system, they've knocked down the network."Jane and Maura move to look at the monitor and see that the mouse is moving on its own accord across the screen.
Jane runs to her computer and turns the monitor on to find the same thing happening on her screen. "Frost, its happening here to" She watches as one by one Frost and Maura go through the rest of the computers and confirm the same thing. Jane ran her hand through her hair, trying to piece together what was happening as Frost continued to mumble about activity monitors and firewalls while tapping furiously at a keyboard.
Suddenly, one by one the screens went blue; and Jane felt a familiar tightening in her chest. A slight crackling, and then an all to familiar voice emanated from the speakers of every computer; "Hello. Jane. Remember me?"
Jane's vision narrowed. For a moment, she could not make out anything outside of the black tunnel that suddenly clouded her sight. She felt a rush in her ears as the voice resonated over and over again in her mind and bile rose to her throat.
It was impossible. It was illogical. She felt nothing outside of her body, her hands suddenly aching at memories that made no sense. Physical manifestations that normally only plagued her in her dreams. She felt her body move, somewhere her body was responding to commands, but her mind was unaware of its own behavior; having divorced itself from reality the moment that those words echoed into existence.
Hello. Jane.
Someone was yelling her name. Was it Vince? Where was she?
"JANE!"
She could feel him. Again, on top of her. She was trapped and there was no way out. No way to survive.
Remember me?
How could she forget?
"JANE PLEASE!"
But this memory made no sense. The smell. The smell was off. It didn't smell like tin or blood. Her blood. But no, there was no awful stench of him clouding every time she inhaled. Instead she smelled warmth? Perfume. Maura. She could smell Maura.
"Jane, look at me please. Oh God, she is going into shock!"
Slowly, her vision unclouded, and the black rim seemed to disappear, although her body had not decided if she was going to vomit or pass out or do both. She moved her hand to her cheek and felt water on her face, was it raining? She blinked and suddenly Maura's face sharpened into view. "Maura?" she felt herself whisper out. What was she doing here? She shouldn't be here, she's going to get hurt! She can't see this, see him, see what he has forced her to become.
"Yes Jane! It's me!" Maura softly took her hand and laid it upon her cheek. She felt real. Her eyes, warm and tender and filled with fear, were all that Jane could focus on. "You're safe Jane. Jane! Look at me!" Maura pleaded. "Are you ok? What happened?"
"Hoyt." Was all Jane could husk out.
