a/n: sorry that this took so long to update today. I actually started it last Saturday but school obligations took over and then just pure distraction. We are in the final chapters of this story folks.
Deeks looked over at his pregnant fiancé, watching as she slept peacefully on a makeshift bed that had been created on the floor under a massive sheet fort. She had their three older children cuddled around her, all sleeping as well. It brought a bright smile to his face and made his heart stutter a bit, especially when his eyes fell onto Will who had his hand placed protectively over the baby bump.
While he had been thrilled to hear that they were going to have a baby, and still was thrilled, telling the children about their new sibling had felt like the hardest thing he had ever had to plan out. What if the children had rejected the fact of having another sibling, one not biologically related to them? What if it had made them upset to know that they would be sharing their guardians attention with someone new? Those thoughts had scared Deeks in a way that surprised him, but had been proven wrong when they had sat the kids down and Kensi had explained about the new life growing inside of her.
"So I'm going to have another baby brother or sister?" Will had asked and got a nod from Kensi and Deeks.
"Yes, you will." Kensi responded with a small smile.
Will had been going to see Nate still and had been improving with each passing day. He had slowly started to accept his parent's deaths and that no matter how badly he felt about his fight with his parents the night that they died, it wasn't his fault that they had passed away. Will had also fallen into the habit of calling Deeks and Kensi his parents, referring to them as mom and dad more often. It hadn't been easy for him, but he had seemed to settle into his new life with them and accept the fact that soon enough they would be adopting him and his siblings. Kensi and Deeks would official become his parents and his name would change from William Andrews to William Deeks.
Accepting all of that had been hard for Will, but accepting a new sibling apparently wasn't.
"Is it a baby brother or sister?" He asked with a hint of excitement in his voice that made Deeks visibly relax.
"We don't know, we want to wait until the baby is born that way it is a surprise." Deeks explained.
"I want a new brother." Elijah chewed on one of his fingers. "He can play with us."
"Well the baby isn't going to be able to play for a while." Kensi smiled at the younger boy. "Right now the baby is still inside my tummy and is growing and getting healthy. When the baby is born it will be a while before he or she will be able to play because they will be too small."
"Why?" Elijah asked.
"Well babies are really small when they are first born." Deeks explained. "They need to sleep and eat a lot so that they can become big kids like you and so that they can play."
"Oh," Elijah said with a heavy sigh.
Elijah's disappointment hadn't lasted long though and was replaced by childish mirth when Kensi and Deeks had informed them that they could help pick out names for the baby. It had entertained them all for a while as each kid came up with names, some of which were very common like Emily and Michael, while others were very creative and a bit off the wall, leading Kensi and Deeks to steer the children's attention to other things once the name Desmeralda was mentioned, causing both adults to visibly cringe.
Telling the team had been the easiest since they hadn't actually had to say anything. The whole team had picked up on Kensi's sudden mood swings, the green tinge to her skin and the near constant vomiting. It had been Eric that had broached the subject though, having walked over to Kensi one day with a bottle of flat ginger ale and a sleeve of saltine crackers, stating that when his sister was pregnant it was the only thing to help calm her rolling stomach.
She had accepted the offering with a smile and had placed her hand over her, at the time, still flat stomach. It had surprised both of them when no one said anything or asked any questions, the only very obvious changes in the team was that they all watched over Kensi and Sam and Callen had taken to following her around like guard dogs, plying her with water and food often until she had eventually snapped at them and they had recoiled like chastised children.
Now, as Deeks watched over his sleeping family, he couldn't help the smile that was permanently on his face or the way that his whole body seemed to heat at the mere idea of his growing family.
"Watching us sleep is a bit creepy." Kensi remarked, causing Deeks to gently chuckle.
"What can I say; you guys are the best things in my life." Deeks stated and made his way over to her so that he could lie down with them.
"You're a sap." Kensi rolled her eyes.
"I'm happy." Deeks said and pulled Will up onto his chest so that he could scoot closer to Kensi. "We have three amazing children, a fourth on the way, we're in love and we're getting married. I couldn't be happier even if I tried."
"I can't believe that we're getting married in the morning." Kensi smiled at him.
"Me neither." Deeks smiled back and pulled her closer, letting out a sigh when her body heat engulfed him. "Are you sure that you want to sleep here?"
Kensi looked around them and nodded. "I want to spend as much time with our children before we leave them for a week." She announced and rubbed a hand over her belly. "Soon enough we won't be able to get away for anything."
"That's true." Deeks raised his eyebrows and sighed lightly. "We should get some sleep." He added and closed his eyes. He heard Kensi give a small sound of agreement before they both settled in for the night.
Morning came before either of them knew it and was filled with the flurry of people entering and exiting the house with armfuls of items and excitement radiating off of them.
Sam and Callen arrived at the house and dragged Deeks out so that they could get him away from the house and to the beach that Deeks and Kensi were going to marry on. The two of them saw it as Deeks groomsmen that it was their duty to ensure he didn't sneak a glimpse at Kensi until the moment she started walking down the aisle, much to Deeks mild annoyance. The three of them were met by Deeks best man, Eric, who had pulled the car up to the house and drove away once they got in.
Kensi was then ambushed by her mother, Nell and Hetty while Sam's wife Michelle took the children so that they could get ready and play with the Hanna children to pass the time.
"I still can't believe this." Julia shook her head and smiled tearfully at her daughter. "My baby has three wonderful children, a fantastic soon to be husband and a baby on the way."
"It's a lot to take in." Kensi nodded.
"But you're happy?" Julia asked as Nell started on Kensi's hair.
"More than I ever thought possible." Kensi smiled happily and held still so that Nell could twist and pin up hair.
"I'm so happy for you sweetie." Julia said and wiped at her eyes.
"Thanks mom." Kensi said and tried to calm her nerves as she let Nell continue her work.
It was close to an hour later before her hair was up in a braid that started at her hairline and twisted into a loose bun at the base of her neck. Her makeup was light and we only there for mild enhancement, and her dress was already on and fit a bit snuggly, making her appreciate the fact that they were getting married now and not later when she would be too big to fit into the gown.
"I think it's time for the items." Hetty stated when Kensi was ready to head to the beach.
"I agree." Julia said and pulled out a box from her purse and handed it to Kensi who opened it to reveal a bracelet with blue gems. "For your something blue."
"Thank you." Kensi gasped lightly at the beauty in front of her before her mother took it and clasped it around her wrist.
"Your something new," Nell handed her another box, this one containing a simple yet elegant necklace.
The last box, one that Hetty handed her contained a very old decorative comb that was slid into Kensi's hair right about where the bun was.
"Your something borrowed and old," Hetty finished.
"Thank you, all of you." Kensi beamed.
"So, should we be going?" Hetty gave her a slightly pointed look and smiled when Kensi nodded.
Deeks couldn't help but fidget as they waited for the women to arrive, pacing back and forth and driving Sam and Callen insane.
"Will you please stop?" Callen nearly snapped at him.
"Sorry, I'm just…" Deeks trailed off with a contagious smile.
"Relax Deeks, you're getting married not skydiving into an active volcano" Sam smiled and shook his head before his attention was drawn to Michelle who had walked over with Will. The little boy was dressed in a tux and beamed at Deeks.
"Everyone else is here as well." Michelle stated. "Elijah and Isla are with Julia and Hetty is ready to marry you guys."
"What about you Deeks, you ready?" Callen asked.
Deeks visibly swallowed and nodded, his nerves going crazy and his heart beating quickly with the joy that he felt. He didn't get much time to try and calm down though before Sam had put a hand on his back and had started to steer him towards the alter where the four men took their spots and the music started to play.
Before he knew it, Kensi was walking down the aisle and all of his nervousness was washed away and replaced with awe at the sight of Kensi walking down the aisle and towards him and ultimately their future. They were going to be joined legally , were going to adopt three of the best children in and world and were expecting a baby of their own and in that moment, he couldn't be more happy.
