Wheeljack walked back to his quarters slowly. Ratchet trailed along behind him giving him space knowing that the wrecker was not happy about the decision made. There was little that Ratchet could say or do. Even had Soundwave not found out, this was something that could not be hidden from Megatron; Knockout would have been more than happy to relay the information, and Ratchet could not aid or assist without the other medic knowing or observing. Maybe had this had happened later, after Optimus had separated the sparkling, or if Megatron had become somewhat lax in his reign, then they could have protected Lancer better. Even on Cybertron they may have had an underground network by then to get her away, but Megatron was no fool. They would not be returning to their home planet until Megatron made sure that every leak was plugged and he had total control without fear of any resistance. Ultra Magnus was an example of just how far Megatron was willing to go to keep Optimus occupied and the commander under his claws.
"Doc is there any way…" Wheeljack asked despondently.
"No, we have no network here. Why do you think Megatron keeps us here?" Ratchet said lowly watching for any vehicons that may over hear. They approached Wheeljack's door and Ratchet watched the car former push the buttons that would give the code to release the lock to his quarters.
"I failed her and I don't even know what I am going to say to her." Wheeljack said softly.
"Tell her the truth. You didn't know that Soundwave was in my office and I couldn't say anything without punishment. She will understand even if she doesn't like the outcome." Ratchet stated as the door opened. Lancer was sitting in the corner in a small chair next to the berth, but upon seeing Ratchet with Wheeljack she quickly stood and reached towards the medic.
"Oh good, did you tell him?" She fearfully asked as the door closed and she clutched at Ratchet's hands with her own.
"I did." Lancer noticed that Wheeljack was looking down instead of making optics contact with her.
"What's wrong? What are you not telling me?" She asked worried. She let go of Ratchet and turned to the wrecker. "They found out!" She whispered anxiously. Wheeljack did look up as he heard her with optics full of despair.
"I just wanted to protect you. It's my job and now they are taking you away from me." He said sorrowfully before turning away. "I didn't know that Soundwave was in the office when I went to the med bay. Ratchet tried to tell me without getting into trouble, but Soundwave already heard the conversation."
"What does that mean? Why am I being taken away?" She asked before looking at the red and white medic.
"It means Lancer that I am here to check you over before Soundwave comes to assign you to another guardian." Ratchet stated without emotion hating that he had to witness their anguish.
"No! Give us another chance!" She cried before Wheeljack wrapped his arms around her to comfort the distressed femme.
"I can't. If a bond doesn't take the first time it won't a second. I'm sorry Lancer. Let's do this before Soundwave gets here. It will help to make the transition easier." Ratchet gestured toward their berth. Lancer looked at Wheeljack ignoring the medic for a moment.
"Did you fight for me?" She asked lowly hurt evident in her voice and face.
"I did. I even tried to fight for you with Megatron. Optimus sided with him after Ratchet confirmed the truth about bonds." Wheeljack heavily stated. He looked at her with remorse radiating from his EMP field while Lancer looked scared and stricken with the idea that she would not know who she would be assigned to.
"Ratchet, you have to do something!" She cried turning toward the medic.
"I can't. It has been decided, but Optimus assures us that you will be fairly treated. Chromia and Arcee are given the best care." He said though the last was said weakly. Lancer did not want the best care, but an end to the lack of freedom since becoming a 'guest' of the cons. "Please, let's get this over. Soundwave will be here soon." He gruffly said as he gently guided her to the berth. "I need for you to open your chest plates."
Lancer looked up at Ratchet as she sat on the edge of the berth. Wheeljack had his back to the pair, his back hunched in despair, and Lancer knew that resistance would be futile. At least Ratchet would be examining her. She cared very little for Knockout.

"What! I don't need a femme!" Soundwave patiently stood inside the doctor's lab. In the distance he could hear groaning from the specimen secured on the lab table and Soundwave had wondered why the doctor had not extinguished the abomination that had become Breakdown. Knockout walked around jittery and nervous, and Soundwave decided that he would check his security for the lab making sure that the medic was not up to something.
Knockout's lab was still located on the Nemesis since Knockout preferred to work by himself. Shockwave had no tolerance for the vain, arrogant racer, and Soundwave could understand and appreciate Shockwave's revulsion. Soundwave did his own repairs before Ratchet had become part of the team. He had no love for the doctor and Knockout was very aware of this.
"Lord Megatron's orders. You are to treat her with respect and not harm her in any way. She will retain her work with Wheeljack so I will know of any complaints since I handle surveillance.
"But… but I have my work! I don't have time to wine and dine a femme." Knockout stated with exasperation throwing his hands up in the air.
"You will accept your orders or you can petition Lord Megatron." Soundwave stated before turning. His patience had run out and Knockout could take it to their master for all that he was concerned. The femme would be fetched and brought to him as per Megatron's orders.
"This will not bode well for my look! She doesn't compliment my shine or colors!" Knockout shouted back before growling in frustration.
Soundwave could care less.

"Couldn't you let them have tonight?" Optimus asked as Megatron fed him another energon treat. The warlord smiled at his mate as Optimus licked the sticky substance from his fingers. Yes, switching his claws did have some perks. Optimus had certainly become more docile since carrying and though Megatron would become irritated with the sire programming that had been activated, at this moment he just could not find it in himself to care.
"Why prolong the inevitable. She will be given to another to protect her and possibly a bond will benefit from it for all of us. I have spoken, and with so few of us left it is a wise choice." Megatron said as he caressed his mate's unprotected face. Optimus' optics were off as he enjoyed the rust sticks. Ratchet's suggestion of sprinkling the sticky treat with powdered metal shavings was a good idea since the sparkling needed the extra nutrients and Optimus constantly craved the treat.
"It will be a shock for her and Wheeljack will feel that he has failed in his duties to protect her." Optimus said before turning on his optics and sitting up from Megatron's lap where he had rested his helm.
"It doesn't matter. My order stands and you agreed with it." Megatron replied stubbornly and Optimus sighed before laying his helm back down onto his mate's thigh plates.
"Still you could have given them tonight to get used to the idea. One night wouldn't have hurt since it is already late." Optimus stated sadly. Megatron sensed the mood swing but resolved that he would not change his mind.
"My decision is final, Optimus, and I suggest you drink some energon before finishing all these rust sticks." Megatron said hoping that a change in subject would lift his mate's mood.
"No, I'll just purge it back up." Optimus sourly stated. He tried to shift but Megatron would not let him.
"It would have made no difference. At least she had Ratchet and Wheeljack there until Soundwave comes for her. He will make the right choice for her." Megatron gently stated. "He has been honorable towards Arcee and you are very happy over their new sparkling." It felt as if another mech was saying these things to Optimus. It made him feel funny in his spark, but then as he looked at Optimus he realized that he did mean them. He would just have to make sure that his mate understood that what they discussed behind closed doors never made its way out to the troops.
Optimus looked at his mate a long time. "I guess you are right." He finally said before turning and wrapping an arm around Megatron's leg. Megatron smiled indulgently at Optimus while caressing his helm. The sparkling had made Optimus more indulgent towards his mate as well as gentled some of the violence in Megatron's spark. The warlord would always love a good fight, but now he was content to have his mate by his side. It would be a while longer before Optimus truly accepted him, but Megatron was learning patience. As long as no one tried to take Optimus away, or harm him, then Megatron could adjust to this new turn in life.
"You'll see. Everything will work out." He whispered to Optimus as his mate gently fell into recharge while clinging to his mate's leg.

"Please Ratchet; you can't let them take me from Wheeljack." Lancer softly cried. Ratchet was examining her spark and the casing making sure that there was no lasting damage from their attempt to bond. She fretfully crinkled the blanker in her hands as she laid still for the doctor to examine her.
"I can't go against orders Lancer. Even Optimus approved of this. I have to have faith in our Prime that everything will work out to the beneficial of our species." Ratchet told her as he finished his exam. "You spark is in good order. I don't recommend that you try to merge or bond for at least a week to help alleviate the soreness, otherwise you are fit for duty." He told her in a more confident and firm voice.
"Thank you Ratchet. Where did Wheeljack go?" She asked worried about her dear sweet friend. Deep down in the secret place that she kept firewalled from everyone she was glad that the bond had not gone through. She loved Wheeljack, but they were compatible and that was all. He was like an older brother in a lot of ways, but the femme had never seen it until last night when they had tried to bond. It hurt her spark that he was miserable, and she was scared of what would happen to her when Soundwave came, but at least she wasn't stuck in a sparkless bond that would limit her emotions. She had seen that too often before the war being mid caste, and though she loved her sire greatly the war at least gave her the freedom to pick and choose for herself instead of whom he approved which would have been her life if changes had never taken place.
"He is coming back with energon. I asked him to get you some." Ratchet said. He quickly sub-spaced his tools knowing that Knockout would have to inventory them before the end of his shift. Megatron still did not trust them to carry much in their sub-space and it irked the medic that after all the years of being an ambassador, senator, and CMO, he was reduced to this.
"Good. I want to talk to him." Lancer said as she looked off to stare at the foot of the berth before gathering her thoughts and sitting up to swing her feet over the edge and rest them on the ground.
"He is not happy right now." Ratchet stated before turning back to look at the femme after cleaning his hands.
"I know, but I can't let him think that it is his fault." Lancer morosely replied. "He only wanted to keep me safe."
"… And he is or was doing a great job. This was unexpected." Ratchet finished before turning as the door opened.
"Hey, why the long faces?" Wheeljack said but the smile did not reach his optics. He walked over and handed the cube of energon to Lancer.
"Ratchet just finished and is leaving." Lancer told him as she quickly sipped the cube down before letting Wheeljack take and throw the empty shell of the cube away.
Ratchet looked at the wrecker. "I will have to let Soundwave know." He slowly said as he walked by the wrecker to the door.
"Yeah I figured you would. Will I get any time to be with Lancer?" He asked before walking closer to the femme on the berth.
"I will try to stall, but Soundwave is punctual. He will not fail his duties." Ratchet replied before stopping at the door as it opened. He looked back a moment. "I will stall as long as I can. You two talk, say your goodbyes, and not fight. You will regret it." With that Ratchet left them alone to wait for the stoic communications officer.
"Well I guess you want to rant at me?" Wheeljack said heavily.
"No, I had a feeling the bond wouldn't take. We are too much like siblings than lovers." Lancer stated dryly and Wheeljack whipped his helm up to look at her with shock. His mouth opened and then closed but no sound came out until the third try.
"You had a feeling? You had a feeling! Why didn't you say something, and why all the upset when the bond didn't happen?" Wheeljack demanded. He rounded on her before closing in to invade her EM space and Lancer looked away uncomfortable a moment before returning his glare.
"Would you have listened to me? You were so determined to keep me safe! I was upset and I was hurting." She stated. "You were the dominant one in this relationship and I went along because I do enjoy being with you, but truthfully? You are too stubborn for your own good."
"Yeah but… I only wanted to look out for your best interest." He said suddenly not too secure in her feelings.
"You still can." Lancer said as she reached up to caress the shield over his lower face plates and mouth. "We will still work together. Megatron assured us that no harm would befall us so if something happens to me, go to him. Let Optimus fight for you. He has sacrificed his freedom to ensure our safety. I know that it isn't what you want to hear, but one day we will have the advantage again. It just takes time." She soothed his face with her hands before they heard a chime to announce that Soundwave was knocking. It wasn't long before the door opened and the dark silent mech walked in.
Lancer leaned over and kissed Wheeljack gently on his face mask before standing up. She could feel the tremble in her leg struts but she resolutely held fast to her stubborn will and faced the third in command with determination.
"Ratchet said that you are here to reassign me?" She stated politely. Soundwave shook his helm in the affirmative. "Very well." She turned back to look at Wheeljack before leaving. "Thank you Wheeljack. You have been a real gentleman and I could not have had a better friend than you as I grew accustomed to our situation. I hope to see you at work tomorrow."
"Thank you Lancer. You are a true lady in all ways and I have enjoyed your company." Wheeljack formally stated drawing on his university days for when he had to play the social game to get ahead on Cybertron. It still hurt that he couldn't protect her from this, but he had no choice as she turned to face the stoic communications officer.
"I am ready Soundwave." Lancer said holding her helm high as she walked to him. The communications officer turned and Lancer quietly followed him out without looking back. Her creator once told her that it never did any good to look behind.

"Will I be treated well?" Lancer asked as she followed Soundwave down the hall before turning down a familiar corridor. "Wait… Soundwave, I have already had an exam Ratchet…"
"You will not be examined again." Soundwave interrupted her and she looked at him in surprise. He stopped just before a door several doors from the blast doors that protected the medical bay.
"What?" She asked uncertain suddenly that it was not that long of a walk.
Soundwave did not answer as he gave a ping for the bot on the other side of the door. There was scuffling that could be heard on the other side and Lancer cringed. It seemed that this guardian was not very quiet if they could hear from outside of the door.
The door opened and Soundwave stepped aside for Lancer to walk through. She slowly walked in before looking back. "Where is he?" She finally asked. She knew that she heard someone in here, but as she looked around the unusual but extremely tidy quarters, she couldn't find anyone. The traditional Decepticon purple was evident, but then Lancer notice pictures of human muscle cars, and semi- tractor diesels that were painted in vivid detail on the wall.
"Yeah, yeah, I am here. Don't blow a circuit just because I haven't graced you with my beauty." Was heard from the wash racks and Lancer looked back appalled that she would have to share quarters with the vain and arrogant doctor.
"Really? You couldn't come up with someone better than Knockout?" Lancer said irritated because of the circumstances of her situation.
"Megatron ordered that all officers get first pick." Soundwave stated and Lancer grimaced before turning back to watch the doctor approach after the door to the wash racks opened.
"Well lookie here. You can leave her things next to the door." Knockout said mockingly knowing that the insult would not be rebutted. Sometimes being Soundwave was just not conducive to proper entertainment. The mech just did not react the way you would want him to.
"Well you are not Primus; that's for sure." Lancer dryly stated giving him the stink optic before stepping back to lean against the wall. "I don't have anything with me since most of my equipment is in the lab."
"Good, I don't like clutter." Knockout sourly stated.
"I can see that." Lancer said looking at the pristine desk as well as the very neat berth that would just fit the both of them. Lancer shivered at the thought but before she could voice her thoughts, Soundwave turned and left her there with the creepy neat doctor.
"I wasn't expecting this and from your look, nor were you so I hope you understand if I stay tonight at my lab." Knockout told her and Lancer could feel some of the tension drain from her frame.
"I guess then I will see you in the morning?" She asked more than said as she looked at him. It would be uncomfortable laying in his berth knowing that the oily doctor creeped her out.
"I doubt it. I will comm. Wheeljack to take you to the rec room for your energon." He absently stated as he gathered some tools neatly laid out in a drawer in the desk.
"Why did you agree to this?" Lancer asked. She was curious because it was obvious he was not happy with the current situation.
"You agree with Lord Megatron or you don't last. Haven't you figured that out yet?" Knockout said as he walked past her to the door.
"The desk is locked and you can't access the computer because Soundwave codes them to your CNA so don't try anything." Knockout didn't even look at her as he said that before just walking out dismissing her as if she didn't exist.
"Well that was helpful." Lancer said. At least he didn't try to molest her so she turned and looked at the extremely neat and tidy quarters that would be her new home. The pictures gave way to help Lancer to understand her unwanted guardian because she didn't just see a vain medic, but a connoisseur of pretty bodies. Knockout didn't just see himself as beautiful but someone who also admired beauty.
Lancer wondered if the medic would like museums. It would be an interest that they could share or at least relate to. It would be enthralling to find out if there was more to the medic than met the optic. At least she no longer felt the initial fear that she felt earlier when she first found out that she would be moving to her.

"I just received a communication that Lancer has been moved to Knockout's quarters." Starscream said as he looked at his new bond mate. Ultra Magnus gently stroked a wing causing the seeker to shiver in pleasure. It had been a delight to discover that his mate would purr in contentment and Ultra Magnus made sure not to disappoint the flyer so that he could elicit the sound from the now passive seeker. It would not always be so. Starscream was not one to sit by and be docile but Magnus liked that about his mate.
"Oh, what happened?" Ultra Magnus said as he lounged on the berth petting his mate in contentment.
"It seems that she tried to bond with that wrecker, oh!" Starscream said as Ultra Magnus pinched the edge of his wing in warning to remind the flyer to behave and not say anything nasty about the wayward soldier.
"So they tried to bond and what else?" Ultra Magnus asked. There was an edge there that wasn't there a moment ago.
"It seems that it didn't take and Soundwave found out. Needless to say, Megatron found out and ordered her to be removed and placed with a different guardian." Starscream was panting, the charge building as Magnus continued to stroke his wings.
"Wheeljack won't take it well. I will check on him in the morning." Ultra Magnus softly said before pulling Starscream under him smirking softly at his mate. "You start back your shift."
"You will miss me." Starscream said as he felt desire curl deep within him. Their bond had taken immediately and Ultra Magnus had kept the flyer busy beneath him, but now they faced their first morning apart since their bonding ceremony. The only good thing about returning to work was that he would be flying tomorrow since Megatron wanted to careful sweep as well as a detailed report on human activity.
"I will feel you no matter where you are on this planet." Replied Ultra Magnus to his mate's arrogant remark. "But for now I will content myself with renewing our bond."
"Is that what you call this?" Starscream mockingly asked. "I thought you were sating yourself in my greatness."
Ultra Magnus smiled. "Is that why you were screaming my name? You were letting Primus know how great I am as overload consumes you."
"No, yes, stop that! Don't put words in my mouth!" Starscream huffed but Magnus pinched his wings in the delicate fold making Starscream curl up against him. Ultra Magnus then pulled him under him.
"We have shifts to resume tomorrow." Ultra Magnus murmured against the sensors in a wing. Starscream convulsed in pleasure. "Why waste tonight talking." Before Starscream could utter a response his lips were taken in passion, and he allowed his mate to carry him away.

"Mia, hand me that drill." Shockwave said. Chromia reached over the parts that her mate had laid out from the console that had overheated. She had assisted Ratchet with some of his equipment during the war before they had been separated and was used to helping in a lab so this seemed normal for her.
"When will we go back?" Chromia asked. Shockwave's lab was spooky since it was located in the lower bowels of Kaon. They had driven as far as they could go, and Mia was impressed with the cleanup and changes that the Omega Lock and Constructicons had made. It was strange to be back on Cybertron, but she could see a big difference since the Decepticons had taken over. Cybertron was being revitalized, but there was wariness. It seemed that everyone was waiting to see what the bond between the Lord High Protector and the Prime would result. Many hoped for freedom and equality for all Cybertronians, but it was still too soon.
"Soon. I have to check on this experiment. It is the culmination of all my CNA research, and this console shorting out while I was on earth had created a setback." Shockwave calmly replied, but Mia smiled. She could feel his angst and upset over finding the problem, and it reassured her that Shockwave was mortal and could feel emotions like other Cybertronians.
"Your lab is interesting, but where are the torture experiments?" Chromia remembered the stories of horror that few survivors of captive Autobots told. Many did not survive the brutal effects of the Decepticons, and the few that did were unable to return to the frontlines or active duty.
She continued to walk around as she listened to Shockwave work. "Being stranded here for so long, many of my experiments expired from lack of nourishment, but this one had been able to survive since it was cloned." He told her as he continued to patiently finish his project.
"So you still have one here that is alive?" She persisted as she started to look around for the specimen.
"I have one, yes. He has outlived all the others." Shockwave distractedly said trying to get a red wire to uncurl so that it would reach its connection.
"Where is it?" Chromia asked walking around until her gaze fell on an amniotic energon tank. She walked closer looking into the pinkish clear gel that sparked occasionally with energy transfers before jumping back startled as two gold optics opened and settled on looking at her curiously. She slowly approached the tank as her hand came up to touch the glass. The creature within watched her intently as she caressed the glass, his optics catching every movement, and Chromia sighed as she looked back impressed with the power that seemed coiled within the massive body tightly bound the tank.
"He's beautiful." She said as she accessed her memory core for anything that may resemble it from Cybertron's history. She could see the keen intelligent look that emanated from the beast, and Chromia knew instinctively that he was processing her and looking for weakness. "What are you going to do with him?"
"He has no usefulness now that the war had ended. I am waiting for instructions from Lord Megatron." Shockwave said as he finished the repairs to the computer console and straightening to look at her. "He will remain here until time that he is needed."
"It seems a shame. All life should have freedom to explore." Chromia murmured to herself but Shockwave heard it.
"I agree to a point. He could prove to be very dangerous." He walked up next to her. The creature reacted to the scientist's nearness. "He was being grown for purposes that no longer are in play. Until we find a use or place for him here is where he will remain."
"Shockwave, what was his purpose?" She whispered sadly knowing that he would not have freedom.
"He was being grown to be the ultimate Autobot hunter, however, that is no longer important." Shockwave turned her with a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Come, the space bridge is waiting for our return to Dark Mount. It is growing late." Shockwave walked her out of the Kaon lab before turning her toward the green swirl of light that had appeared for that they could go home.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
Knockout grumbled as he worked on the formula for the synthetic energon. Even though Megatron had not said anything lately on the project, he wanted to complete it since Shockwave was now the poster mech for any productive experiments. He had never thought he was in competition, but the end of the war, and Autobots that were being assimilated into the ranks was daunting.
Knockout wanted to stay on top. He felt that he was a good doctor, and science was key to achieving further success. He felt that he was losing his only ally and friend, Starscream, and he also wanted that abomination to pay for what he done to Breakdown. Even now, he relished the screams that the experimental formula did to that human magnetized down to a berth and helpless to his aggressive ministrations.
Evan the femme would not stand in his way as he added another injection, listening to Silas cry out weakly against the invasion that he was being forced to endure. It served him right, thought the sadistic doctor, that Breakdown had been snuffed and turned into this monster.
Knockout adjusted the dosage as he watched the readings from his terminal that was hooked into Silas. The abomination feebly struggled with his bonds, the experimental energon painfully flowing through his circuits and Silas was helpless and too weak to cry out.
"Serves you right, you know." Knockout said grimly as he stood over the aberration.
"No, I don't know." Was weakly whispered, "Please, just kill me."
"Now why would I do that when we are having so much fun?" Knockout replied. He adjusted the dosage once again before turning. He spied the purple vial that Starscream had given him preciously when Megatron had been off lined from the space bridge accident.
"Hmm, I wonder what would dark energon do the test subject?" Knockout said out loud. He walked over running a diagnostic with his scanner before taking the vial and bringing it back to the main examination table to mix it with the synthetic energon. He wished that the SIC was here. It would be interesting to see what he thought of this, but the winged lord chose to take his own time with his new mate. Well, Knockout could handle this and in the end he would be showered with praise just like that monoptic scientist was with his own experiments.
Knockout slowly and carefully mixed the two test vials together and watched as the neon green energon turned a putrid awful purple before his optics. He slowly swished the liquid and carefully watched it for any possible combustion. Though it made a few bubbles and popping sounds, there was no explosion, so Knockout then took out another syringe, filled it, checked it for air bubbles, and then injected it into the wailing mech.
"Now let's wait and see what happens." Knockout said as he stood back to observe and record the data.
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
I took Starscream out of this scene because of his bonding, but I had to put Silas in because he was still in there somewhere in the Prime verse so I hope that this last part makes sense. I always felt that Knockout was very unhappy towards the last season and I was right when he switched to the Autobot side in the final movie of the series. He never liked Shockwave and I don't blame him in the least.
