Red Dawn: Chapter 20 PT 1
A/N: And here we are, the final hurdle to the finish line. This Fic has had its ups and downs, from fun pranks and lewd scenes to dark times and happy and sad feels. No matter how it turns out, it was truly fun coming up with fun and crazy ideas with my good friend and seeing where this story could take us.
When this story began I was only planning to put out 10 chapters, short and sweet, have only a few characters I made up. But making more new characters, having them interact with each other in different ways and throwing them in different types of situations was alot more fun then anticipated, which led to the creation of more people, and longer chapters. This Chapter is going to be another long one, so get ready. Four parts in total.
Good or bad, as this comes to an end I'd like to thank those few who stuck by and followed me on this crazy sci-fi, RWBY verse, would be story about a young man running away from his past. From day one I wanted to make an epic ending with a huge battle, my being a big Star Wars fan as well. The last chapter was intense, and a bit dark, and it's not over just yet, in fact it's only just beginning.
For the first time in ever, this, "Lord Baal", is making a personal appearence with his agents of destruction. Much loss and trials await all of our hero's as the final fight for the future of not only Vale, but the entire world of Remnant is waged. So without further ado, it's time to end things once and for all. To kick this chapter off, were going to the Mistral Navy, commanded by none other then Ariel's mother, and father who finally make it to Vale in time to catch the entrance of the new giant creatures of Grimm. It will get much darker before our young hero's can rest easy. Prepare yourselves for the Red Dawn and the arrival of the Master of time and Space...
Prologue:
ROYAL PALADIN MADORI: (Flagship of the Mistral Navy, Waverider. 100km from the coast of the Vale border...)
"All ships, flank speed! Have our scout ships move forward and prepare to land on the shores of Vale, secure a beachhead!" King Triton, leader of the Mistral Navy ordered.
"At once King Triton!" Replied his Captain, thumping his chest in response.
The mighty King Triton Vasilias the 3rd, drove his golden trident spear into the floor getting everyone's attention to let them know he was satisfied. As leader of the Mistral Navy, he had a long streak of wining all his battles and fighting side by side with his troops.
With the ability to regenerate and heal himself, as well as command a vast quantity of ice and water dust types, he was nearly invincible. To the point where he could regrow lost limb and body parts, or heal a scar or small wound during a fight to keep him going, if you broke through his immense aura that is. He was a power house, and the pride of the Mistral Navy. Highly respected and feared, no one dared to defy him.
Standing almost 8 feet tall, he wore his aquamarine hair in a long braid that snaked down to his ankles. His beard was also a long thick braid that stretched down to his waist. He had fierce but warm and kind deep amber eyes, straight nose and a chiseled jaw, beautiful but manly features.
He was slim but ripped to the core, and wore nothing but a gleaming gold crown on his head with one blue sapphire in the middle, a emerald on each side, and ruby's on the other sides of the emeralds.
He only wore teal pinstripe slacks with gold buckles, leaving his ripped chest fully exposed, also showing off the tattoo of a trident with a crown resting on top on his back in a dark blue color.
Though he was wearing gold dress shoes, so he was somewhat modest. Countless rings of all colors and shapes adorned his fingers, some were even glowing. All of them contained some type of dust he used when he went into battle. Using jewelry for dust containment was common in the Royal family, and the Royal Knights as well.
"Sentinel Nikos, ready a squad of Knights to extract my daughter!" He called out to his most trusted and top military advisor,
"Who will be commanding the squad your magesty?" She questioned with a slight bow,
"Me, of course." He affirmed with a grin, "Who else?"
"Very good my King! I'll see to it at once!" Under the Command of Sentinel Nikos, the Royal Knights were the most elite solders in Mistral's disposal, charged with the protection of nobility and the Royal families. She was well known as a strong and kind warrior, unmatched in combat with swords, spears, and shields. She commanded respect and authority, though she always put others before herself. She was indeed the role model for all Royal Knights, and Paladins alike.
"Connect me to my daughters scroll at once." King Triton demanded,
"At once King Triton." Ahead on the viewport, a blank screen with the Vasilias family crest appeared as the scroll rang. The screen came to life as a fiery red head with amber eyes squinted her eyes, then bowed her head in respect, Princess Ariel Vasilias, next in line as Queen Mother after her mother.
"Father, to what do I owe this-" She was quickly cut off by her father,
"Get ready Ariel, we're coming to pick you up shortly."
"B-but father, I have a duty to-"
"We will be there in 15 minutes, be ready. End transmission." He didn't give her a chance to protest as the screen went blank and King Triton spun on his heel and made for the throne chair his wife, the queen was seated on. Her blue hair was wrapped in a high bun, and her face covered with a veil.
Her beauty was unmatched, and it was known to have an adverse effect to males who viewed her bare face, namely, they would fall madly in love and become possessed, to the point of killing themselves if they were not in her presence. But the one person who is able to withstand her beauty, was said to receive God like gifts from her, which is clearly what had happened. It was both a curse, and a blessing, as well as a two part semblance. After that it was forbidden for males to look at her bare face, which also meant her main guard consisted of females just to be safe.
Along with her veil, she was dressed in her elegant green and blue war dress, adorned in gold and jewels of all colors. A gold crown rested on her head, nearly identical to her husband's crown, and she had even more jewelery on then he did.
He leaned forward to whisper something in her ear, and she nodded in response and touched the side of his cheek as he made his way towards the exit of the bridge, two Royal Paladins in tow.
Sentinel Nikos then walked over to her highness side and leaned down to listen to a next set of orders.
"Captain, disperse the fleet to attack positions. Fennel, how are the scout ships?"
"Yes Sentinel."
"Scout ships are heading out, they make landfall in 10 minutes."
"Very good Captain. Has the King departed yet?"
"He's boarding his transport as we speak."
"Very good." Sentinel Nikos nodded, pleased as she clasped her hands behind her back. "Also, make sure team SSSN makes contact with the Princess, I don't want any surprises."
"Yes Sentinel."
Royal Paladin Madori, 27 year old graduate from Mistral academy had been serving the Royal family since then, more like since birth as she decended from a long line of Royal Palace Knights. Making her way up from a Knight to a Paladin was in no way a small feat.
Years of training and practice, as well as a number of recommendations. Royal Paladins were the highest military rank, other than Sentinel that one could achieve, and she was very proud of her accomplishments, being one of the youngest Paladins to date. That being said, nothing would prepare her, or any Royal Knight, not even the Sentinel for what they were charging into.
Gazing out of the viewport at the two large dragon like creatures of Grimm, and the one large dragon leading the pack, nearly bigger then the crimson Atlas battle cruiser that was shot down only a few hours ago. Faced with such a predicament, King Triton decided Atlas could no longer hold out and priority one would be to get the Crown Princess to safety.
"What have we here, reinforcements I presume." Said a voice near the bridge entrance that was entirely unfamiliar, and cold.
All at once, every Paladin and Knight on the bridge drew their swords before they even turned to face the mysterious blue robbed figure now standing alone by the entrance.
"KNIGHTS! ELIMINATE THE INTRUDER!!" Sentinel Nikos ordered and wasted no time in charging the new and unknown enemy, along with the rest of the Knights that were near, the seven other Paladins formed a barrier around the throne chair, while two erected giant walls of ice dust from the floor to the ceiling, keeping the Queen safe inside.
The intruder raised his left hand as the 10 Knights and Sentinel Nikos all crashed hard down onto the floor. With her back now to the main front viewport, Paladin Madori noticed the room getting dark as numerous black robbed figures burst through the viewports with gleaming black katanas in hand. They stood at attention as the rest of the Paladins and few Knights turned to face them.
"Just as Father predicted, the insects of the Mistral Navy will bring the king and queen to save their precious daughter. Too easy, now we can wipe out Vale, and destabilize Mistral in the process."
"How... dare... you..." Sentinel Nikos said through gritted teeth as she struggled and failed to get to her feet.
"Silence." Two black robbed figures fell from the ceiling and drove their black blades deep into her back, prompting her to cough up blood.
"D-don't... let them... harm... queen..." Were her final words as her body went limp as the blue one removed his hood with a grin and placed his free hand on the hilt of the long odachi on his belt.
The Paladin's in front of the hidden throne chair drew their swords. The blue robbed assailants wrist twitched, and in a heartbeat, his cold blue eyes were now mere inches from Madori, so close she could feel his cool breath as his ice blue eyes glared at her, somehow having crossed the entire bridge to her end in the blink of an eye. Her body failed her as he opened his mouth,
"I'd like a witness, I think you fit the bill perfectly." He jerked as she felt her chest pop and burn as he removed his blade from it, coated red with her blood. "Hopefully you survive the fall, if you do, make sure to find and tell your precious king... He's next." He said as all at once behind him, the ice barrier shattered in a million pieces and the still bodies on the bridge burst into blood, and fell apart as if every single person had been cut to pieces at once. On the throne chair sat the Queens body, a tiny stream of blood pouring from her neck, and her veiled head slowly rolling away on the floor.
Whoever this man was, he moved so fast that he managed to annillate everyone on the bridge in the blink of an eye.
Madori felt her heart drop as the blue robbed figure flung his sword out as if getting rid of the blood on it, which sent Madori soaring through the air like a ballistic missile. Maybe it was the pain, or maybe shock, or maybe the gforces she was now pulling as she flew through the sky from the sheer power of his toss, but something made her vision darken as the wind whipped around her and she lost all feeling in her body as darkness consumed her...
STARK NAKAMURA: (Age nine...)
Shifting his weight to the left, young Stark Nakamura narrowly avoided a black katana from being lodged into his ribs. Another day, another training session or sparring to the death with Shadow Guards.
Dropping to a knee and lifting both katanas up criss crossed to block yet another falling katana, Stark shifted his weight back causing him to fall backwards as he kicked his left leg out in the process to trip the Shadow Guard in front of him, clipped his sword to belt as he landed on his hands and pushed off, catching the one behind him in the face with his boots.
With both momentarily unfocused, Stark took the opportunity to fire both his katanas simultaneously through both Guards heads. Adding a backflip, he quickly sheathed his swords as he landed, Stark dropped to a knee and bowed his head before his current mentor, Arcangel. He took a moment to study, and glare down at Stark.
"Sloppy, you'll be working on that later. For now, come with me." Arcangel ordered as he spun around and made for the door leading outside into the hallway, his long blue robes whipping around with the manuver.
Young Stark rose to his feet and followed his mentor out the door as the fallen Shadow Guards fully dissloved away into dust.
"You'll be paired with the Lord Commander for the time being." He said as Stark quickly fell into step beside his mentor.
"Why not you?" Stark questioned,
"I have other duties, you will do as you're told." He said sharply.
"Of course." Stark bowed his head slightly and remained silent as Arcangel led him down numerous hallways, finally come to a halt outside a large obsidian door guarded by four Shadow Guards.
They opened the door admitting the two of them, and they walked into the small dimly lit chamber, one of the many training rooms. Not much was in the first chamber other than a few weapon racks, benches, some lockers, and a large viewport to see inside the actual combat section. A large door to the left of the combat chamber which connected the two rooms, and allowed for entry.
Near the viewport stood a female with flowing black hair dressed in reds. Her most telling feature was a white Grimm skull mask that she wore over her face. Slowly, she turned her head and nodded to acknowledge the two new comers.
"Lord Commander, how's your new, recruit?" Arcangel questioned as he made his way beside her, hand firmly wrapped around the hilt of his sheathed odachi, his signature long katana that was two times taller then Stark and forged with black void dust. It seemed like such a long and crude weapon, yet he weilded it with grace and finesse.
"See for yourself, my Lord." She replied flatly as Stark made his way beside Arcangel and peered into the combat section.
Inside was a group of about 20 Shadow Guards, and a small red robbed girl with long crimson red hair tied in twin pig tails, weilding two katanas, one black and one red. She was flipping and twisting around the Guards, slicing off arms, legs and heads with each move she made, already thinning the number by half.
What threw Stark off was not the speed at which she took them down, but the size of the person that was doing it. Most likely barely as tall as his knee, the small girl dispatched the remainder with ease, sheathed her swords, bowed low, and made her way towards the exit, skipping.
Her swords which were normal size katanas, were easily three times her size, and made them look akward hanging and swinging from her waist.
"Did you see, did you see!?" The small girl came rushing out as she stood before the Lord Commander and got onto a knee, completely ignoring the two new visitors.
Stark felt a shiver run down his spine as he was instantly pulling his main katana Sunder out, and thrusting it over the small girls head with both hands just as Arcangel's long odachi erupted in sparks against his own.
"Good good." He commended as he slid his odachi back into it's sheath, Stark following suit. Looking down, the small girl now had both her own katanas out, and a devilsh glare towards Arcangel.
"Hey, can I kwill this wun as swell." The tiny voice from the girl said,
"Before we get to killing, Robin, introduce yourself. This is High Lord Arcangel, and his acolyte Stark." Quickly, the small girl sheated her swords, and bowed before them.
"I am Robin Nakamura, the red defil, second child of our alwighty fafher Lord Baal, futer hi proctor and acolyte of-"
THUD* Robin crumpled to the floor as Arcangel bashed the butt of his hilt against the top of her head.
"I sicken of the slurrs." Acrangel meerly said as he resheathed his sword.
"She is only three, High Lord." Now with a huge bump on her forehead, Robin stood back up to her feet, her red eyes burning with rage, just like father's.
"I rweely don't like you." She growled,
"Hmm, she's strong. It will be fun breaking her. For now, this is your older brother Stark."
"Older, bwother?" She questioned as she looked up at Stark, "He stinky." She said as she covered her nose.
THUD* She fell to the floor a second time as Arcangel let loose on her again, but she was quickly back on her feet.
"You will respect me, and him. A brother means he is someone close to you like no other, and also your better. You will look up to him, and he will look after you." Stark glanced down at the girl who was glaring hard at Arcangel and paying Stark no mind. "Like our all father Lord Baal, you and Stark here are family. But make no mistake, he will be your rival when it comes to approval from our father."
"You heard him, Robin." Lord Commander added,
The small girl finally looked up and into Starks eyes, her gleaming red eyes were a spitting image of his father's.
"Hellwow Starp." The small girl said, taking a step forward and offering her hand.
"Good to meet you-" He offered his hand, and instantly regretted it as he felt his body get hot from the touch and a red blade started to arc towards his throat. Instinctively Stark quickly had his katana out as sparks erupted inches from his throat, feeling the heat and force from the swing of Robins off hand weapon.
Not sure what was going on, he kept his guard up realizing it was already to late as he felt a sharp explosion of pain in his lower abdomen. He was able to see her first attack, but for some reason he had no idea she even went in for a second strike until it was too late.
"I twhink I should be the older bwother. I wont wose to him." She affirmed in her tiny voice.
CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP*
"Good good!" Arcangel clapped and nodded as Stark glanced down to the black blade now lodged inside of him just below his ribs, Robins hand firmly on the hilt and a wide smile on her face.
"Don't you agwee stinky?" She teased.
"You taught her to never let her guard down already, I'm impressed. A lesson Stark seems slow to learn. You will train with him tonight."
"But he's weak and smelly! Do we haff too?" The small girl complained. Arcangel offered a glare in her direction,
"You still need to teach her respect, or I may accidentally kill your acolyte." He nodded towards the Lord Commander and spun on his heel to leave the room.
"I don't like them Lort Commander." Finally, Robin pulled her blade out, flung the blood off and slid it back into her sheath, as Stark fell to a knee and grabbed his side, applying pressure to his fresh new wound while surpressing the pain and burning he was feeling from his new wound.
"Don't worry, I afoided your major artefries so you will be fine stinky!" Willing the pain away and sliding his katana back into it's sheath, Stark rose to his full height and glanced down at the little girl who was now beside the Lord Commander, an evil glare in her eye as she kept her gaze focused on Stark. This, he thought, was his new little sister. "I hope you can kweep up." She said defiantly as she glared down at him.
Stark activated the yellow dust on his offhand sword, and touched the burning tip to his wound to seal it, all while glaring down at Robin.
"You just might find yourself surprised." He replied as she yawned into her hand,
"I'm hungy Lort Commander."...
ROBIN: (Age 12, present day inside a Bullhead enroute to Vale Command HQ...)
Unconsciously, Robin ran her fingers through Heros stark white shaggy hair as his head rested atop her lap. Somehow, he was able to remain calm despite everything that was going on just outside.
"I can feel the the stress and tension in your hands and finger tips." He grumbled from below. "What's on your mind?"
"Uh.." She felt her cheeks heat up as she ceased playing with his hair. "He's here, do I need to say more?" Slowly, Hero got back up and turned his head towards the viewport, glancing at the huge Grimm Dragons heading towards them far off in the distance. "How can you be so calm?"
"There's not much we can do, what's coming is coming. It's not like you to be so startled. This has been a long time coming, and someone once told me no matter how hard you try, you can't run away from your past. So I've accepted it, embraced it, I know what must be done. If my life must end to in the process, I'm ready." He let out a deep breath, "Stressing out, being on edge, it will only work to his advantage. Remember, fear is his tool. He plans to break us before we even face him. The large display of Grimm, and now coming here himself. He wants us to lose before the fighting even begins, that was his first lesson he taught us. Besides, we have a bunch of friends back home waiting for our return, ready to stand shoulder to shoulder come what may. Also," He reached out and rubbed the top of Robins head, "how could I not be calm when I was resting my head in a pretty girls lap while she plays with my hair." Robin felt her cheeks burn,
"D-d-d-dont make fun of me!!" She shouted, offering a few playful jabs in the process, not to hard so as to not further injure him. He chuckled as she assaulted him, a sound she rarely heard from her older brother.
"Erm.. no, but seriously. You've grown into a fine young woman, and you've only just begun. I can only imagine the great things you will accomplish. This, is the REAL Robin. Not a caged bird, but free." He rubbed at her head again, "And I'm so very proud of you." Back then if he had rubbed her head like that she would have taken his hands off with no questions asked, but now, for some reason it made her feel happy and warm inside, it even made her feel safe.
"I have you all to thank for that, without you, and your friends none of this would have been possible." She replied, feeling her cheeks heat up as his head rubbing continued, "But I feel as if I've gotten soft, and in doing so I've gotten weak and worried, feelings I've never cared about before."
"I thought the same at first. However, that worry you feel, especially to keep those you love safe, it pushes you beyond your normal limits and gives you the power to go on. Fear is good, it keeps you sharp, focused, keeps you alive, as long as you don't let it control you that is."
"Just like I do with pain, I suppose your right, how else could your friends have successfully rescued you from me and father."
"To be honest, I didn't think anyone was coming for me... Oh Ozpin. He always has something up his sleeve."
"He's an odd one for sure, but he seems to know what he's doing."
"I suppose. However," Hero laid back down on her lap and looked up at her, "I'm sure you would have saved me before anything serious happened." He smirked,
"Huh? I would have made sure I was the one to put you out of your misery, you think I'd let father steal my kill?!" Robin teased,
"That's... Harsh. Glad to see your feeling fine now." He replied as he rubbed at her chin with a smirk. "That was all a front I think, you wouldn't have done that."
"Hmm, well who knows. What am I without you." She stated,
"I know, I know your not like that."
"I'm a killer, plain and simple." She replied firmly.
"No, you're not. Shadow Guards don't count, how many people have you actually killed?" He asked,
"Do you really want to know the answer to that? You were gone for a long time before we finally met again. Since you left, someone had to go out and take over your duties. Torture, murder, seduction, you name it." He met her eyes with a frown,
"You... I... Guess you're right." He fumbled, "I wasn't there for what he put you through, what he made you do. I'm... sorry, so sorry it took me this long to realize what a horrible brother I've been. For all the terrible things Arcangel did to us, there was one thing he taught us that I failed to follow. 'You will look up to him, and he will look after you.' You deserve so much better."
"Oh hush, I stopped blaming you awhile ago, it wasn't your fault." She added with a sigh.
"I left you. It's all my fault." He said, hurt in his voice.
"You invited me to come and I refused to listen, even beat you for it."
"I could have tried harder to convince you."
"Could've, would've, should've, what's done is done. I was eating all father's words up so much, I doubt anything you would have told me would've worked. What matters now is that you're here, and we're together."
"Yes, you're right again. Look at you with the voice of reason. Your stubborn ways have yet to change, though."
"Exactly!" Robin exclaimed as Hero shook his head, "Wait..."
"Either way," he butted in getting back on topic, "there's no way I'd leave you behind again." He squeezed her elbow before turning his head and closing his eyes. "There's nothing I won't do for you, I hope you know that."
"I know Hero, the feeling is mutual." She continued to run her fingers through his hair just as the front cabin door slid open,
"Hey you two," it was the leader of Team HUNY, Hazel, "we're on landing approach for the HQ, should be touching down in less than a minute actually." He nodded before slapping the switch that opened the door to the main cabin of the Bullhead, letting the cool noon breeze in, as well as the sight of the landing pad with a few recognized faces.
Robin stood and helped Hero to his feet, even though he didn't need it, as the Bullhead gently touched down and a certain redhead rushed forward the instant it touched the ground,
"Hero! Robin!" Ariel shouted as she lunged towards him and Robin, wrapping her arms around the both of them before they could even step off of the ship, "Oh my God Hero your hand! Are you are you okay?!"
"This is nothing." Hero commented, as he motioned forward and they stepped down onto the platform.
"You need medical... attention..." Ariel examined the bandage and his near severed hand underneath which was partially iced over with blue ice dust, and green healing dust. "Did, you do this?"
"That would be me." Robin affirmed with a smug look on her face,
"You know how to use dust?" Ariel questioned as she continued to look over the wound,
"Obviously. My partner is Peach, who still has yet to get into dust. I need to be prepared. Besides, tending to wounds, lacerations, breaks and the likes was a daily thing growing up for the both of us, so of course I know a ton of ways to use dust, including healing. Half of my life was spent tending to 'Starks' wounds."
"That doesn't make me feel any better..." Ariel muttered while,
"More like some months..." Hero mumbled,
"Well, what few good memories I had of the place are what I remember most, which were my times with my brother. For better or worse."
"So you actually helped him instead of trying to kill him in his sleep?" Peach teased,
"Well, a little bit of both. There was this one time..." Robin placed her finger on her lip as she got lost in thought, "See what had happened-"
"Excuse me." A pink haired ram faunus girl approached them scowling and with her hands on her hips, "We've waited long enough for you, we need to see you now Team HARP."
"Right, no good deed goes unpunished." Hero looked over his team and nodded, "Right, let's get going team."...
PEACH: (Vale defense HQ...)
Gathered inside the building dubbed as Vale defense Command HQ stood Headmaster Ozpin, Professor Qrow, her father, and a decent number of Huntsmen as well as a few students.
"Never, Headmaster. I've never known him to leave the compound. This is a surprise to me," Hero's eyes moved towards Robin as he responded to Ozpins question about Father, "to the both of us as well."
"Do you have any idea as to why he's come here, or what motivated him to come in person?" Hero rubbed at his chin while Robin spoke up,
"I think, above all he wants to scare us. His goal could be to throw us off balance." All attention in the room shifted to her, "Confidence is important when going into battle, as well as a decent plan. He wants to shatter all of that.
"I see..." Headmaster Ozpin nodded and glanced over the holo table, then glanced in the direction of the student council president Magenta Misaka who opened her mouth to speak next,
"We weren't expecting this, but we're putting plans in motion. Right now, Opal is still leading a ground unit to hold back the Grimm, along with the Vice President. Destin is currently taking command of the Atlas forces and plans to push forward to our position, we desperately need the air superiority. We've also received word that Mistal has arrived and the great Commander is on his way as we speak." Hero noticed Ariel perk up as Magenta mentioned that, "We're spread thin and we need to send reinforcements to Opals position, so right now" Magenta glanced towards Hero and his team, "we need you four to get to her position."
"But before that," Qrow butted in, "tell us more about MOTS, how do we plan on stopping him?" All eyes fell upon Hero as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
"I regret that I alone will not be enough to face my father, nonetheless I must face him."
"You can count me in on that as well." Peach added, "I've got alot of things I want to say to that mother-"
"Peach..." A Stern voice called out,
"Sorry Papa, you get the idea. We're apart of team HARP. I'm sure each of us feel the same and we all have your back Hero, to the very end if need be." Peach said as she reached out and squeezed Hero's shoulder.
"Let's not get hasty children," Ozpin spoke up, "I don't plan on it coming to that. You can count on a team or two of Huntsmen to back you up at the very least, we're spread thin as it is. But in the end, he is our main threat. This only accelerates our plan to attack him, but I think we can manage."
"Offhand, can you tell us what powers he's possesses?" Qrow asked,
"For starters, he always had the power to strip you of your aura at will, as well as a telekinesis type of power." Hero started,
"We've never actually seen him fight, and he rarely partook in our, punishment, letting his Royal Guards do most of the work." Robin added, "Expect him to command an arsenal of every dust type."
"Also," Hero continued, "his main purpose for creating us was to take our powers for his own when we came of age. He's been doing this for thousands of years, there's no telling how many powers and tricks he has up his sleeves."
"Your semblance may be very crucial for this fight Robin." Ozpin gestured towards his younger sister. "If you can take his semblances away, it will give us a considerable advantage."
"I will do what I can, Headmaster. But he has many, most I could take is five. Anymore then that,"
"Don't push yourself too hard." Hero interrupted.
"Understood, brother."
"Okay," Ozpin started, "It seems we still have some time before they are actually in range, so for now I want you four to help reinforce Opals position. Once it's semi secure, I'll have you hold there until the time is right. Opal is requesting permission to take on a, special assignment."
"Excuse me Headmaster," it was Ariel who spoke up, "I've been unable to get into contact with my fathers ship. Have you had any word from the Mistral Navy?" She asked, Qrow and Ozpin exchanged a glance and it was Jasper who spoke up,
"We haven't. They did mention they were moving in, but we have not heard back from them since then." He said grimly. Nobody was saying it, but there was an air of fear and regret rolling around the room.
"In any event, Des," Magenta quickly cleared her throat, "General Roseus should be arriving on his ship soon, and we have a Bullhead landing in 10 to escort you to Opal. Take this time to restock, grab a bite, and have that hand looked at Hero." President Misaka ordered softly.
"Thank you, President Misaka." Hero said and slightly bowed.
"That's all for now, we'll keep you updated as more info comes in." Ozpin said, ending with a sip of his coffee.
"Understood Headmaster. Let's go HARP."
Peach made her way over to her father and gave him a quick hug before she followed the rest of her team out of the door.
"We should have taken you to the Infirmary before this little meeting. Now they expect you to fight still?" Ariel complained as she held and looked over Hero's wrist.
"I can still fight, I've been hurt alot worse then this." He assured her, which only made Ariel's gaze turn sadder. Peach understood, with his up bringing, surely he HAD been hurt much worse and was still expected to fight.
They rounded there way around a corner, almost bumping into a pink haired lady dressed in a red atlas officers uniform,
"Ah, excuse us." Hero said politely as they passed her by and walked into the Infirmary.
"Mr. Chroma, we were told to expect you. Please, come this way quickly, the rest of you can wait here." The nurse quickly ushered Hero away, Ariel following close behind as Peach slumped down hard in to one of the waiting room chairs. Robin looked over at her with a worried look and a raised brow,
"You okay?"
"Yeah yeah," Peach waved dismissively, "just taking a little break. Who knows when we will be able to just sit down like this. Cant take these times for granted, rest while you can."
Robin nodded then made her way over to the seat beside Peach, took her katanas off her back and gracefully sat down, laying her weapons across her lap.
"What about you kid, how're you holding up? Must be tough with your father being here, for both you and Hero boy."
"It is. I didn't expect to have to go through this so soon. All my life I was raised to believe that he is invincible. I still do, and I fear this entire Kingdom will be doomed with him being here. As many people as we can muster, weapons and such, I don't think it will be enough." Robin sighed.
"Well," Peach reached out and wrapped her arm around Robin as her cheeks flushed, "whatever happens, both me and Ariel will stand by you and your brother. No matter what. You're not alone kid."
"I know. Thanks Peach, for everything."
"Aww, I didn't do much."
"You've done more then you know. Watching over my brother, accepting me with my baggage and background. I couldn't have asked for a better partner. So thanks, it means alot to me." It was Peaches turn to blush as Robin leaned into her arm.
"Ahhh shit." Peach pulled her in tight, "You're both family to me. And I don't blame you for your past, I can't blame you for what you were taught or how you were raised, especially how you have turned out in such a short period of time. I know your brother is proud, and I sure am as well. Having Hero as a partner would have been cool, but I think I got something even better." She smirked down at Robin who smiled warmly at her, then cleared her throat as she pulled away.
"Ah em... Well, that's enough mush for one day." Peach smiled warmly at her, as her previous partner came to mind...
DESTIN: (Silver Surfer, current flagship of Atlas first fleet...)
"General Roseus, welcome aboard." The tight bun black haired vixen, Nutella Adel greeted Destin with a squad of mechs as he made his way off of the Bullhead ramp down into a clean and crisp silver hanger bay, walls and floors so clean they must have been scrubbed with bleach on an hourly basis.
"Thank you Doctor Adel, it's good to see you again, despite the circumstances, again." He offered his hand which she firmly shook.
"Indeed it is," her brows narrowed in, "this way please, time is of the essence." She motioned forward with her finger and guided him out of the hanger bay with her mech escort in tow.
Many Bullheads and small fighter craft were jammed into the small hanger, as pilots and technicians ran around getting things ready for the coming battle.
"What's the situation?" He asked her as she pulled a data pad out of a pocket from her pristine white lab coat and started flipping through different screens,
"The rest of the first fleet is ready to be deployed, six cruisers strong, three dreads, one super carrier, and two battle cruisers. Unfortunately the first fleet was acting as a support fleet, I'm not sure if they have the fire power needed, but having a carrier, super at that will give us a much needed edge with air superiority. As for fighters, there are 47 remaining fighter squadrons."
"47? There were over 70 on my father's ship alone." He said shocked.
"That is correct, we lost more than a 3rd of our forces in the first attack. The Grimm Reapers are awaiting orders, as well as the Captains of the cruisers, also your mother's prototype Reaper mobile suit was finished and is being prepped for your use." They entered a lift and she hit a button that would take them to the lowest level on the ship.
"Hmm, I never knew she had her own."
"Due to the fact she is not a proficient fighter, she wanted to have something in reserve if needed. She has her own personal fighter, and Grimm Reaper. We had both moved to this ship."
"She's always prepared for anything and everything."
"That she is, she's a fine woman. How is the General? I sent her some of our best wares."
"Only time will tell, hopefully for the best, and thank you for that. Speaking of which, there was something that disturbed me when the Goliath's showed up, someone who bore a close resemblance to, Rouge." Destin glanced at Nutella who's face didn't change at all as she continued to stare at the lift door as they decended, of course she knew something. But would she actually say anything?
"That's classified." She simply replied. Destin quickly had his answer, but pressed anyway.
"Well uh, since I'm the current commander of all the Atlas forces here, I think I'm allowed to know. Especially about any Atlas forces here." Nutella chuckled in her palm, shaking her head.
"Child..."
"I'm not a kid." She chuckled even harder,
"While on my ship, boy, you will learn your place, and your jurisdiction. You are military who only answer to the council. I am science, who only answer to the council. My work does not concern you. Even if it did, a young boy who got a field promotion from his daddy won't come telling me what to do on MY own ship, that I volunteered and that has no affiliation with the military here and I've only come at the request of the Headmaster. If you don't like that answer you can get out and find a new ride. If not," The doors slid open, "shall we." She said, already one foot out of the lift, her lab coat whipping behind her.
"Look I, I'm not asking for details, I'm just... After everything... As a friend-"
"You calling me a friend ended when you thought about pulling rank on me. Let's hurry, your men are waiting for you." She said not missing a beat or stride in her pace.
"Right..." Destin began to follow Nutella into a large chamber, "I didn't mean you, I meant her..." He muttered.
"Excuse me miss, should you be... ah Ivory." Nutella asked then addressed a certain blonde who was standing in front of her, "I hope all is well with your health and implants, come by anytime you want to check them out or just to say hi, your always welcome here." Her tone quickly changed,
"Good to see you too Doctor, and I will. I really appreciate it." Ivory offered her a warm smile,
"Think nothing of it my dear."
"Ivory?" Destin asked as he stepped aside Nutella and approached his blonde faunus partner, "What are you doing here?"
"Damn," she crossed her arms and frowned, "good to see you too partner."
"Ahh.." Destin rubbed at the back if his neck, "That's not what I meant, of course it's good to see you. I just wasn't expecting to."
"Well, we're supposed to be a team right? We're supposed to stick close to each other right?" She scolded as her eyes narrowed in at him as she switched her weight to the right and rested one hand on her hip,
"Yeah, your right. I'm sorry. But really, it is good to see you doing well after we split up." He placed his hand on her shoulder and squeezed,
"Same." She offered a weak smile as she patted the top of his hand and squeezed back, "How... are your parents?" Destin sighed and glanced at Nutella who was now waiting ahead and tapping her foot,
"Time is if the essence, children." She announced, clearly annoyed.
"Right, we'll talk about that later, but they're okay for now." The two of them fell back in step behind Nutella as she led them through a series of doors, and through a large door which was the main hanger bay.
Packed inside were various fighter craft, along with the enormous Grimm Reaper mecha suits, at least 20 of them. The smell of oil and exhaust fumes filled his nose, along with the sounds of various fighters and mecha suit engines humming, ready to launch at a moment's notice. A squad of pilots dressed in black amor approached the trio, the one in the lead was a tall female with orange hair with black highlights, as well as a orange and black stripped tail that was whipping around behind her with each step. She had her helmet tucked under her arm as she stopped and offered a crisp salute, her stripped tail at attention.
"Doctor Adel, General Roseus. It's an honor, and I thank you for taking my squad in Doctor."
"Don't worry about it Master Chief. We can finally put the Surfers catapults to good use. General, this is Master Chief Canary of the 2nd mechanized mobile suit unit, Demons of Razgriz."
"Canary?" Destin questioned as he glanced back at Ivory,
"Tai... Taiga????" The precise, crisp and highly disicplinned Master Chief turned her head to face Ivory and squinted her eyes.
"I-Ivory?" The Chief instantly melted and jumped towards Ivory, leaving her squad behind her with dumb founded faces. "Ivory!! It's really you!!"
"What the hell?! It hasn't even been that long, how'd you get so tall?" Ivory began to rub at her head,
"That's a secret!" Taiga announced as she clung tightly to Ivory, rubbing her face against Ivorys.
"I always knew you'd make a perfect top tier Atlas stiff, at least your not as stiff as this guy." Ivory pointed her thumb back towards Destin,
"I'm right here you know." He replied,
"And your still a little baby." Ivory ignored Destins comment and pet her friends head a second time as she purred lightly,
"I'm not a baby, I'm a Master Chief now!" She said proudly, sticking her chest out,
"Yeah yeah, in rank at least." Ivory retorted,
"What's that mean!?" Taiga blushed and pouted,
"Ah em..." Nutella cleared her throat as Taiga went stiff as a board at attention. Nutella had her free hand massaging her forehead as if she had a headache, "It's going to be a long day..."
"Yes mam! Sorry mam! Ready for orders mam!" She shouted, her cheeks stained in pink.
"Right... Destin here will be taking charge from here on out of all Atlas military forces after I show him to his Grimm Reaper, please begin final checks and prepare to launch ASAP."
"Yes mam!" Taiga threw up a perfect salute and turned to her squad behind her. "You heard the lady, let's get ready to move out Demons!"
"Excuse me Doctor," Ivory spoke up before Nutella turned and left, "is there an extra Judo, I did train on the MKIII so I know how to use them."
"We do not, I'm sorry."
"Actually, we're short one pilot." Taiga stepped up, throwing her arm around Ivory. "Razgriz three ate some bad sushi and has been feeling the effects since this battle started. I'd rather not throw him into the fire if possible. If it's okay with the General that is." Both girls looked to Destin who nodded his head,
"Cool, lead the way Tai."
"Yay! Let's get you suited up!" Taiga quickly grabbed Ivorys arm and took off with her,
"General, this way please." Nutella led Destin through another archway towards a dark part of the hanger. She flipped the light switch as from the ground up about 20 meters or so illuminated bringing the large pink Grimm Reaper MKV mobile suit fully into view. It looked like a large person wrapped in the Spartan armor that he wore. It's left arm had a giant shield, and large rifle was fixed in the right hand. Two golden like horns protruded out from it's head, and its green eyes were glowing. The armor wasn't to bulky, just right for quick movements. It was mostly pink, with black patches scattered about. It's chest hatch hissed open as a small line began to decend to the ground floor that would lift him up.
"I'm sure your familiar with the standard MKIII, but this is not much different. I'm confident you will pick up on it very nicely." Nutella stated.
"Oh yeah, I live for this." He reached out and grabbed the cord, and placed his foot in the foot hold as it began to retract and lift him up towards the mobile suits chest, it's cockpit, his heart beating faster and faster as he rose higher and looked inside to the darkness and the lone ejection seat. He stepped in, sitting down in the seat and got use to the feel of the comfortable leather seats and began to strap himself in, just as the hatch hissed closed and it became pitch black.
"Biometrics confirmed, please state your name." A soft voice spoke from inside the cockpit,
"Name? Mom really made this thing state of the art."
"Voice print confirmed, welcome aboard Destin."
"Eh?" A small HUD in front of him lit up, just as the rest of the cockpit lit up, displaying a 360 view of his surroundings. "Oh, this is sweet." A small screen popped up displaying Ivorys face.
"I'll meet you out there, going through power up checks now!" Her voice came through the internal comms.
"Ok sounds good." He nodded to himself as he started flipping switches from memory, his time spent in earlier models of this unit.
"General," it was Nutella, "I'm passing you onto fleet comms, you now have the fleet, FC. We're counting on you." FC, which meant Fleet Commander. These were his men now, and they were all awaiting his orders. Destin had led men into battle before, but nothing like this. He took a deep breath before he spoke.
"Count on me? No, don't count on me, I'm only one person. I count on every soldier here on the battlefield to have my back as we have have each other's. I can't be a good General if I don't have a great fleet. When they look back on this moment no one remembers the soldiers as much as the General leading them. I'm sorry for that, I truly am but you need to know the determination, conviction and your loyalty to do your duty and protect those who can't protect themselves makes me proud. I thank you, and I'll never forget what all of you have done here. Like I said I'm only one person, and more important compared to all of you. I'm a kid even though I tell people I'm not and I hope you can support me in this time of need, not only me but support your fellow comrades. I may be inexperienced in being in command of this amount of soldiers but I'll do my best to be as effective as the person before was if not better. So fight with me not as your general but as your comrade and fellow soldier. I'll lead you to the best of my ability but that doesn't mean my word is law. What I say and order is to protect innocent civilians and soldiers alike and I will not put you in any danger I won't be facing myself which means I'll be on the field leading the charge and not be at the back ordering my comrades into battle."
"As expected from a Roseus, and may the gods look over your father General." A voice broke out over his headset, one he recognized as one of the Captains in the first fleet.
"All right, all Atlas forces currently operating in the Vale theater give me sit reps! First fleet, dreadnoughts call them out!"
"ADD Uplifter, Captain Cookie reporting sir!"
"ADD Challenger, Captain Crayola at your service General."
"ADD Lightbringer, Captain Leemone, coming about to the flagship."
"I see two battlecrusiers, and a super carrier as well."
"ASC Dawnbreaker, Captain Yams. Super carrier at your command General."
"ACC Vindicator, Captain Nana at your command, all systems green."
"ACC Olympus, Captain Melos battle cruiser forming up on the Silver Surfer." Destin nodded in approval.
"All fighter squads report in."
"All remaning fighter squadrons are now under my command General, I will direct them as you see fit." A familiar voice sounded over his head piece,
"M-mom!?" He exclaimed in shock,
"Yes General?" Her voice came back calm and cool, as always.
"Shouldn't you be recovering, or in surgery?!"
"With all due respect General, I have a duty to fulfil my oath, to my people, my homeland, and most importantly my family. As well as you, and every single person here. As long as I draw breath, I will fight to the best of my abilities."
"I..." He knew there was no way to get his mom to stand down, and even asking her would be demeaning and disrespectful to her, and all they believed and fought for. "I understand General." He simply said.
"Thank you, General." He could hear the relief, as well as pride in her voice."
"Silver Surfer speed is steady. Grandos, proceed to catapult deck with S-gear." A voice said inside his cockpit.
"Moving Grandos." Destin felt the machine start to move inside the lift, his surroundings becoming pitch black. "Silver Surfer is now switched to catapult mode."
Far ahead a light appeared in the dark tunnel, as well as a string of lights moving towards the ends of the launch tube, as he felt and heard a loud click, signaling that the feet of the mobile suit were locked firmly in place.
"Lock stable." Destin double checked his straps as the HUD came fully online and he grabbed the control sticks and flipped the switch to power on the mobile suit. A gentle thrum sounded and grew as the engines powered up and his diagnostic boards lit up.
"I'm showing green lights all across the board Surfer." He announced, swiping through different screens on the HUD with his left hand.
"Grandos stabilized with linear field. Launch preparations, complete. Transferring timing and launch controls to Grandos."
"I have control." Destin gripped the two joysticks on each side, and carfully calibrated them one last time, seeing if they gave him any drag or issues. He slightly moved one as the machine reacted to his movements, which caused it to kneel down. "Position active."
"Clear to launch."
"Rose one... launching." He flicked a switch on his left joystick to engage the catapult and pushed it forward which activated his afterburners as well and launched him through the dark tunnel like a bullet out of a gun, pressing him against the back of his seat from the force. The tunnel became brighter and brighter as he was cleared of it and soared out into the bright open sky, checking his surroundings as a squad of black fighters came into formation around him.
"Night Squadron reporting, we have wing command."
"Rose two launching!"
"Razgriz One launching!"
"Rose three launching!"
"Razgriz two launching!"
Two by two, the 24 mobile suits led by General Destin Roseus and Master Chief Taiga Canary were catapulted from the Silver Surfer and began to form up around him.
"We've got two minutes of drift time then we hit the ground, let's find some targets before that. Flak cannons and melee only against air targets, our objective is the Grimm Goliath's."
"Copy that General."
"Roger Rose one."
"Roger that Rose one."
"All Reapers to me, Nights you are our screen until we make landfall."
"Roger General, Night squadron will be your shield."
"General this is flight boss, Nevermore and Griffon class Grimm approaching at 0117. They seem to be heading for command HQ, Goliath class as well, just inside drift range."
"Roger that flight boss, we can't afford to lose HQ. We'll drop right on top of the basturds. First fleet follow me in!"
"Night Squadron providing air support! Form up around the Reapers boys, we'll guide you in! Clear a path for em Nights!"
"Onix, Polearm, and Suppresor squadrons will act as fleet screens. The rest free fire, free fire."
"Yes General."
"Roger General."
"Roger that FC."
"Nevermore dead ahead!"
"Dreads within firing range!"
"Green light! Keep heights above 200m! All dreads fire fire!"
"Firing!" The mighty Dreadnoughts of the Atlas military began to fire, large red torrents of super heated dust flashed over head as once again Atlas went on the offense to retake Vale from the creatures of Grimm...
MAGENTA: (Vale Command HQ...)
Gathered around the holo-table that was showing a real-time layout of Vale in the main conference room stood Huntsmen Commander Jasper Arc, Headmaster Ozpin, Professors Qrow and Port, along with five other Huntsmen acting as advisors, as well as the three other members of the Beacon Student Council, Eugenia, Lemon, and Nectarina, her teammates. All were focused on the task at hand, the defense of Vale.
The ground shook as Headmaster Ozpin, looked at Magenta, than glanced towards Rosita who clung to Magentas leg. Every so often they felt explosions from the near battle, and the poor child was still stuck in the middle of it. Granted, at the moment this was the safest place in Vale, but as the battle raged on that became less true.
"Teams four and six have been running into heavy Shadow Guard resistance." Said one advisor,
"Sector five has been overrun! We're retreating!" A voice called out over the intercom, "Multiple Royal Guards confirmed! They're too strong!"
"Zone 12 needs reinforcements!"
"Outpost 2 is reporting a shortage of dust and supplies, have Team ROSE do another drop at point alpha." Eugenia said, as her finger ran across her scroll.
"Got it," Lemon replied, "Sending a ping out now."
"Recon two reporting!" A student just entering the room announced as he made his way over to Nectarina, handing her a data pad that she quickly mulled over then got up and walked over to Headmaster Ozpin,
"Headmaster, here is your report." She handed Ozpin the data pad who looked it over as he sipped at his steaming cup of coffee. He glanced up again at Magenta, and made a face as if he was concentrating hard.
Atlas first fleet is coming as well as a wave of Goliaths that have broken through outpost six. Have a Bullhead take Rosita to the Silver Surfer for safety. I'm calling one in now.* Magenta nodded once, then looked over at Lemon.
"Lemon, can you get me a drink from the vending machine please, I'm parched!" Magenta handed her a $15 lien, as well as a small note she quickly scribbled telling her to take Rosita to the hanger. Lemon quickly scanned it then nodded with a sweet smile,
"Yes President, hey Rosie," Lemon squatted down as she looked Rosita in the eyes, "wanna come with and get some candy and juice-"
"No!" Rosita shouted, making Lemon stagger back and almost fall on her ass,
"Um, I uh-" Lemon fumbled,
"No!" Rosita squeezed Magentas leg tighter, and dug her face into her thigh as her muffled "No" came one after the other, "I wanna stay with Magenta!" Rosita looked up with wet eyes on the verge of tears, "It's happening again! When is Destin coming back!? Don't leave me! Please don't leave me alone!" Magenta instantly felt a pang of regret and sorrow as she remembered Destin found Rosita in a village that was under siege by both Grimm and Shadow Guards, and had lost everything.
"Shhhh..." Magenta gently cooed as she reached down and rubbed the top of her pink messy head, then picked the small girl up in her arms like a princess, "He will be back soon I promise. I'll keep you safe until then, don't worry, I promise I won't leave you." Thinking she would have no choice but to break the promise she just made in order to keep the girl safe. She gave Rosita a soft kiss on her forehead as she gave Ozpin a look, who in turn nodded. "SecDef, I will be back in a minute."
"I've got you covered President." Eugenia replied as she grabbed the data pad Magenta was using. Reluctant to leave her post, some things took precedence over others however. Getting her onto the Bullhead was a whole different story.
"C'mon Rosie, let's get you some juice." Magenta gently placed Rosita back onto the floor and left with her out the main door hand in hand. Walking through the near empty halls, passing only few Huntsmen who were scattered about as Rosita held Magenta's hand tightly and firm with both of her hands.
Finally in the upper hanger deck after ascending a few flight of stairs, the first fleet of Atlas could now be seen advancing towards them from viewports, as well as a countless number of smaller ships and a fast approaching Bullhead. The hanger was nearly empty, and the large hanger door started to slide open.
The Bullhead was about to come down for a landing just as two Nevermore came dive bombing down, and plowed through it, causing it to erupt in a ball of flames as it crashed down below. Instinctively, Magenta pulled Rosita in close and low to shield her from the blast, which wasn't a difficult task since the small girl clung to her the entire time.
"Stay behind me!" She shouted as she shoved Rosita behind her as she glanced at the two fast approaching Grimm Griffons. She reached out easily from her mind, touching the feable mind of the creature and ordered it to attack it's friend, which it did as it's jaws turned unexpectedly to the Griffon beside it, but not before four black shadows leapt from their backs.
SHISH CHING CHING CHING CHING!*
The four black robed figures landed in a roll in front of the two girls, flourishing black blades as they got into a fighting stance.
Magenta was already focused on two of them as she worked on the third, probing there minds when-
THERE SHE IS A deep, dark, cold and menaicing voice spoke into her head, causing her to flinch, ONE WHO CAN CONTROL MINDS, BRING HER TO ME ALIVE! The voice shouted in her head, causing her to smack her forehead from the ringing pain, like a cold hand had just shoot through her skull and had a firm grip on her brain. All she could fathom were the stars floating around a small pink blur that was hovering over her, shaking her...
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!" Now blared through her ears as the pain in her head subsided, as well as her vision. A glance to the left, and the four Shadow Guards were evaporating into dust where they stood, and to the right stood Rosita with her knees on Magentas stomach, her small hands covering her eyes as she let out a ear piercing cry, which ended as she fell over unconscious. Magenta glanced back to where the four Guards were, but nothing was left.
Shaking her head and rubbing at the massive pain she still felt, Magenta managed to get back to her feet, pick Rosita up and get her into her arms, just as the scroll in her pocket started buzzing. Reluctantly, she answered.
"President! Your're okay! Thank God! We're sending medics down now and a Huntsmen team is already coming down! The breach order of HQ has been sounded!" It was her partner Eugenia sounding as anxious as ever,
"Okay SecDeff," she rubbed at her head again, "Keep it up. I'll send Rosita up with the Huntsmen team then, and fight off any remaining Grimm that may try to get through."
"Okay-Fight off? President wai-" she closed her scroll and stuffed it back in her skirt pocket, not before hitting a certain panic button code on it. Footsteps became heard behind her where three Hunters came rushing in, weapons already drawn preparing to fight anything that opposed them.
"Here." She said, passing Rosita over to one of the females,
"Uh, President?"
"Take good care of her, get her back to the shelter."
"We were ordered to bring you with us as well." One started to say, but Magenta continued, focusing on there minds,
"You two guard this woman and the child with your lives until you make it back to the shelter, do I make myself clear?"
"Yes President!" All three barked at attention, and with Rosita in her arms, the Huntress turned and left, her two new body guards in tow. Magenta let out a long sigh as she rubbed her head again, thinking over what just happened, how she was still alive, the fact that someone, who she deeply feared, wanted her alive for some reason which made her grab her sides and shudder, and of course the pain in her head.
Figuring there was only one course of action to take at this point, Magenta brushed herself off and made for the exit, or the new hole in the wall, sticking her head out first and taking a peek at what was outside.
Hard to believe, but outside was littered with Grimm husks, all fastly evaporating into Remnants cool air. Shaking her head to make sure she wasn't dreaming, now the question was how did this happen, as she slightly glanced behind her to where Rosita was taken.
She leapt out the building and landed on a knee, quickly rising to her feet. Yes she had a duty back inside of HQ, but if the Grimm were this close, it was also her duty to defend it at all costs.
"Gemma!!" Magenta turned to the familiar voice and face of her older brother Cinimon, who was rushing down the street towards her. The instant he reached her side he stopped, placed his hand on her shoulder then took in his surroundings, "What the hell happened here, I thought you needed my help?" He leaned down and pressed his forehead against hers in greeting.
"I did, but... something happened." She replied,
"Something happened? Can you be more vague?"
"I'm not sure, frankly it's not important at this moment. What is important..." Magenta guestered to the rumbling of an approaching Grimm hoard. "More of them are coming."
"Well then, leave them to me Gemma. I'm shocked they made it this far." Digging in his pocket, Cinimon took out a small cube like device, his Cyno cube as he called it.
His semblance turned out to be a passive one, the gift of intelligence beyond normal human comprehension. It was safe to say that he is currently the smartest being in all of Remnant, and the most talented inventor. Though always pressured into becoming a teacher, or work in the military to make weapons and especially pressurued to work for the prestigious Nutella Adel, he is stern about remaining on the field with his two teams of Hunters.
Not officially apart of the Huntsmen Coalition, he and his people work as mercenaries, and realistically see alot more action. Using his smarts and wealth from his work, he was able to invent many items, weapons and vehicles for his team and himself to use in the field. He only sold to those who paid the right price, as long as it was not a type of weapon, selling weapons was where he drew the line.
One of his most notable inventions included a device that can store an infinite number of items of any size or weight. The inside supposedly connected to another relm where he left said objects, able to call on them in an instant. Magenta also carried one of these devices in which she stored her various fan daggers for use in offense and defense. Her main fan held a chamber in which she kept a numerous amount of her fan daggers, different types as well.
Reaching into his Cyno Cube as he called it, he pulled out a motor bike seemingly out of thin air. Just as Magenta laid a hand on his shoulder and opened her mouth, he then pulled out two helmets, one pink with two slots on top, and another one made of carbon fiber.
"If you are a bad Pres like I was, I figured you wouldn't be cooped up in HQ." He tossed her the pink helmet with a smirk. "At least until you get a new ride."
"You know me well Cini, very well." She replied as she caught the helmet and put it on, putting her bunny ears through the two holes on top and strapping it in under her neck.
"Of course I do little sister, hop on and let's do this. Just don't push yourself too hard." Magenta hopped onto the back of his bike then wrapped her arms around him as he took off at full speed, nealry doing a wheelie in the process. They raced down the street and made a left at the intersection where dead ahead, was the hoard of Grimm.
"Trunks or wings!?" Cinimon shouted as Magenta focused in on a particularly large Nevermore Grimm in the flock of hundreds.
"Wing please!" Magenta replied, as he flipped a switch on his bike handle. The rear seat flattend out and became longer, now in two pieces acting as a mini catapult just like Headmaster Ozpin uses to hurl recruits over the forest. "You could have given me your jetpack you know!"
"Aww c'mon Gemma, this way is way betta! Don't have too much fun ya hear!?" He flipped another switch before she was able to respond and was sent flying into the air towards the Alpha Nevermore. It was like him to already know to aim her towards the biggest of the bunch.
Focusing her mind towards the large Grimm was an easy task, much easier than a humans mind and she already had the Alpha Nevermore swooping to catch her, and control of another 10 Nevermore who were now fighting for her cause. As she landed on it's neck, the others went on the attack of there own kind, leaving the others in a dissary. Being attacked by there own, they were not sure to fight back or continue on with there natural hunting instinct.
Below her still in the street, Cinimon raced with his prized weapon now slung over his left shoulder. He fired his rifle, a long black beam of light that blazed down the roadway and through the Grimm ahead. When it disappeared, everything it touched vanished, leaving gaping holes, or half of the Goliaths bodies now gone, as they started to crumble to the ground in death and evaporate into ash. He called it the "Wet hole killer", something about sending everything the beam touched to another demension or something. All his work was way over her head, she just trusted that he knew what he was doing.
Now that Magentas own Nevermore pack had taken out five or six of there own, they were starting to fight back. Magenta reached under her skirt as a new flock of Griffon soared in. Cinimon below was holding his own and having a blast as he wiped out the Grimm from existence.
Magenta reached into her Cyno fan dagger which she called Lola, and reached for her explosive brain darts which used small electrical magnetic pulses that allowed Magenta to lock onto each dagger as if it had a mind like a living being, making them remote controlled bombs made just for her. Cinimon always came up with the coolest gadets for her!
Magenta threw four out at a time, aiming for the eyeballs of individual Griffon and Nevermore. Four sunk deep into red glowing eyes,
BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!* Three Nevermore and one Griffons heads exploded, as Magenta pulled out another eight fan daggers. Truth be told, though the fighting had just started for her, she felt her energy ebbing away fast. Ten minds and eight tools, she was slightly pushing herself, but she had to fight, there was no backing down.
Magenta hurled the eight daggers in her hands as she reached back and grabbed five more in each hand, still aiming the ones flying towards more glowing red eyes, still making each Nevermore tear it's own to shreds. She could only keep this up for a short time she thought honestly as *BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!!* the rest exploded, more Grimm fell helplessly missing heads as there comrades chewed the others to bits.
The other Nevermore began to focus there attacks on the ones she had under control, and now more began to chase Magenta as she rode the Alpha. Causeing her to dive, swoop, and barrel roll as she rode the Alpha Nevermore, tightly gripping the white spines to steady herself and hold on as she ordered it around like a fighter jet.
As Cinimon was only one person, the street ahead of him became crowded from the sheer number of Grimm that continued to charge down. How had they gotten so far in? At this rate it would take more than just the two of them, as Cinimon was already forced off his bike and was now on foot and backing up slowly as they charged towards him at full speed. Pulling yet another gadet from his Cyno cube as he tossed his rifle towards the advancing hoard, exploding as it hit the lead Goliath and creating a large swirling blue and pink sphere, engulfing everything down below.
From out of the explosion, came Cinimon riding a thin plum of smoke, his portable jetpack strapped to his back, just as a Nevermore dived towards him. He narrowly avoided it, but not before Magenta seen his back explode and he started to fall back to the ground.
"Cini!" Magenta called out as she ordered the Alpha Nevermore she was riding to follow in his wake, but as soon as it was about to dive, another flock of Griffon moved and floated in her way, blocking her path. She readied another 10 fan blades in her finger tips as she ordered what remaining Nevermore on her side to help her push through the flock that opposed her. The blades flew from her finger tips as Cinimon landed in a roll, digging in his cube for another weapon as more Goliaths rampaged down the street at full speed and it didn't look like he would have a weapon out in time.
Something above casted a large shadow leaving her to believe even more flocks of Grimm we're making a move on her, but when she turned and looked she let out a shocking gasp. Falling from the sky was a giant pink and black mecha suit, no doubt one of the Judo or Grimm Reaper mobile suits Atlas used, and from the color it was clear who the pilot was.
It came crashing down in front of Cinimon, right on top of the first Goliath crushing it and creating a large shockwave that flung debris, dust, and Grimm bits before they evaporated. The large machine slightly crouched and put it's hands out to stop more from approaching, holding the massive beasts back.
The mobile suit had one hand on the creatures head, one arm pulled back as a blazing pink blade sprouted forth and he drove it deep into the Goliaths face, killing it and he tossed its dead body to the side and prepared for the next one.
Overhead, more and more of the giant mobile suits fell and landed on Goliaths, crushing them as a large number of fighter craft flashed passed Magenta at blinding speeds, spewing red dust at anything moving in the air near her wiping at least 15 Nevermore and Griffon from existence, the Atlas First fleet had arrived!
Behind the fighter craft came the slow moving larger airships, the remaining cruisers under Atlas command, two in front firing torrent after torrent of burning red dust obliterating scores of airborne Grimm with each shot.
As the Alpha Nevermore between her legs started to buck, she remembered why team MELN was not a destroyer team, and why they didnt go on many fighting missions. Though powerful, her semblence had a major flaw. It used up an enormous amount of her energy and she was slowly losing control of the Grimm under her control. Since they now had air support, Magenta released control of the smaller Nevermore under her command, but that was not enough as she felt her control over the Alpha quickly slipping regardless.
A few Griffon above her dove after her, attempting to either get her off, or grab the her with teeth and feast if they could. Before they clashed, the Alpha bucked her and launched Magenta off its neck and towards the floor at blinding speeds. Her aura was still intact, so she raised her hands above her head and prepared for impact.
"Gotcha!" a loud mechanical voice called out as a large pink hand plucked her from the air and placed her beside Cinimon as two all black mobile suits ran passed them and tackled more Goliaths down the street from where they were coming.
"I guess we owe you one kid!" Cinimon shouted at the large mobile suit,
"Not a kid!" it replied.
"Your boyfriend is pretty good Gemma!" Cinimon commented with a smirk and a thumbs up, Magenta feeling her cheeks burn as she looked up at the large mech suit, and finally pulled out the scroll in her skirt pocket that had been buzzing for the past 10 minutes.
"Hello."
"MAGENTA!! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!?!?" It was Eugenia again, "You could have at least had some backup from your partner!"
"You had a job to do-"
"Look who's talking Madem President!! Get back here now!" Sometimes her partner could be a serious buzzkill. As rough as she seemed, Eugenia actually preferred not to fight, which made her job of ordering others to fight more pleasurable to her.
"Yeah yeah." Magenta muttered as she closed down her scroll, feeling disappointed she could not stay and fight longer, but ever since she was a child, no matter how long she worked on her endurance, it was always the same.
"Dont worry Madem President," Destin started, "we can take care of this."
"Rosita misses you so hurry back!" She quickly shouted,
"Only Rosita huh, not you?" Her brother replied for him,
"Wwwhat!? Uh.." She felt her cheeks burn again, "Just hurry back!! I've missed you to..." The mech suit stood back up to full height and flexed,
"Dont worry about me, we got this! Lets go boys and girls! We've got a Kingdom to save! Rose Knights and Demons of Rasgriz, roll out!!"
Magenta felt a sense of pride as he charged full force into the hoard of Goliaths...
ARIEL: (Mid battle on the front lines...)
"Yellow bird, your up!" Hero ordered as Peach grabbed Robin by the arm and swung her around once, twice as she let go but teleported her behind the towering Goliath charging them before she flung her, so she would crash onto it's back, and that she did.
With both swords unsheathed and red and black blades gleaming, Robin flew in from behind the giant creature, tearing it's back to shreds as Peach kept it's focus to the front, both hands gripping her broadsword Malleus, barely holding back it's trunk.
The giant creature cried out in pain as Heros blade hit it's mark directly in it's left eye, hanging from it as he raised his other hand and brought Sunder down and carved it's left tusk neatly off, as the creature went to attack the annoying white bug on it's face.
"Bomb, clear!" He shouted again as they all leapt away just as Ariel's trident spear crashed near it's feet and erupted in flames that completely engulfed the beast.
"Did we...(pant pant) get it??" Robin landed beside Hero, attempting to catch her breath.
"Does it matter, more incoming." Peach announced.
"There's no end to them!" Ariel shouted, getting back into a fighting stance as she caught her returning trident spear.
"Don't give in yet HARP, we can do this." Ariel glanced behind her at the carnage, destroyed buildings and still evaporating Goliath husks, at least four taken down by HARP alone, the rest taken out by Opal, and the few Huntsmen around them. Since they had arrived, it had been non stop fighting. Though taking out the giant Grimm in sims was tough, with it being real this time somehow it seemed easier. Or maybe it was just the real danger giving them the extra edge needed to push through. Even with Robin being new, there team work was flawless.
"More Guards moving up the left flank!" A tall blonde Huntsmen shouted,
"We need more dust! Get Command to make a supply drop!" Another called out,
"Right side, Goliath breaking through, right side right side!"
"One coming to you!"
"Everyone hold the line! We cannot afford to lose more ground!" Opal cried out. This was the front lines, and team HARP was charged with taking care of the crumbs Opal and the Huntsmen let slip through.
"C'mon Robin, let's get this one!" Peach pointed her broadsword towards a charging Goliath.
"Right!" Peach was instantly infront of the giant Grimm, while Robin was riding the cables connected to her katanas as she soared towards the creature as well, her one hand out with Bandon glowing red with flames as she attempted to chop the massive beasts legs as she passed.
"Shall we back them up?" Ariel asked as her bracelets spun and she switched dust types, glowing blue for ice.
"Of course my love." He replied, and aimed Sunder just as,
"Man down! We got a man down!"
"It's breaking through!" A Goliath charged through with a Huntsmen still in it's mouth, as four more Goliaths charged through a new undefended position and headed straight towards Ariel.
She went to counter with ice as she raised Trinket into the air, but something to the left caught her eye. A giant black tube like thing came soaring towards her from above, a Goliaths trunk that broke through that no one had noticed. Already mere feet away when she noticed, there was no time to even react, death before she even got a chance have a flashback. Even if her aura did not break from the attack, it would no doubt leave her crippled. But something hurled her out of the way at blinding speeds as she grunted, and crashed into a nearby wall, and heard another familiar grunt before the trunk smashed into the ground kicking dirt, dust, and shattering pavement and flinging it everywhere.
"HERO!!!!!!" She felt her blood boil as she hurled back on her spear, when she noticed it was nowhere in sight, just as the four Goliaths neared her, ready to trample her out of existence.
"Ariel!!" Peach cried out just as a gold spark landed and erupted in front of her, blinding her, and kicking up so much dirt and hot wind, Ariel had to drop to a knee and cover her face, or risk being blown away again from the force. After a few seconds the wind subsided and she opened one eye, all four Goliaths were nothing but dust, and a long gold Trident spear stuck in the ground ahead of her. Ten white and gold armored Knights weilding swords and shields fell from the sky, two rushed over to her while the rest charged ahead of her.
"My Queen, are you harmed!?" One asked her,
"Can you stand my Queen!?" The other one questioned, grabbing her arm and helping her to her feet.
"This is no place for little girls." A deep voice behind her sounded as the two Royal Paladin's helped her to her feet. "I tell you to stay put and you rush out to battle, making me come look for you?" Her focus elsewhere, she ignored her giant shirtless father behind her as she rushed towards one of the dead Goliaths just as it's body exploded outwards, three white flashes tore it's dead body to shreds as Hero emerged, his robes now tattered and shredded as he drove his one sword into the ground using it as support while he caught his breath.
"Hero!" Her arms were around him the instant she came close and she squeezed him tight,
"Unhand the Queen!" The two Royal Paladin's rushed forward, as Hero went on the defense and lurched back, with Ariel still in his arms. She felt Hero tense up, and his entire body went still, it was then that Ariel noticed her father had moved, and his voice boomed behind her and Hero.
"Move a muscle and I will end your pitiful existence." Her fathers voice was as serious as ever, sending shivers down her own spine. Ariel spun, her face inches away from Hero's as she noticed her father towering behind them, and his spear pressed against Hero's neck.
"Father you-" his eyes glared down towards her, enough to cut off her speech as she slowly took a step back out of Hero's arms. A confused, but understanding look on her partners face.
"I know all about you, Stark. Don't you dare lay a finger on my daughter. If not for Ozpin, I'd have taken your head off already." He boomed,
"But f-father, he saved my-" he sharply cut her off,
"If not for me you'd have been dead just now, you shut your mouth. You should know better than to get close to this, this commoner, this filth." Hero didn't flinch at his words, he merely turned around to slowly face her father, still standing tall though he kept his mouth closed.
"Haaaaaaa!" Robin came flying from no where with Bandon drawn looking to chop her father from the top of his head down. Before she hit he dipped slightly, and kicked his foot out, catching Robin in the chest, sending her plummeting away. "Ahhhhhh!" She crashed hard into a wall,
"How dare you!-" He started,
CRASH!!!* Ariel covered her face again as another explosion went off near them, which was actually a Goliath that had fell from the sky somehow.
"My King," it was Opals voice, "this is not the time for this. If you are not here to fight our enemy, leave our battlefield at once. Or I will precieve you as our enemy for attacking my students." She said this, all while wrestling a Goliath with her bare hands.
King Triton glanced at Opal, then back at Hero as he squinted his eyes. Even her father was smart enough not to go down that route, royalty or not, this was a battlefield, and this was Opal we're talking about. As she was rumored to become one of the most powerful Huntresses, she was well known throughout the Kingdoms.
"Knights, take the Queen away, the rest stay with me." Her father ordered.
"Come my Queen, it's not safe here." She shrugged the Knights hand away,
"You think I don't know that, and why do you keep addressing me as Queen?" Both of the Knights heads fell slightly, their eyes in the direction of her father. "Father, whats wrong?" She demanded as he took a deep breath.
"Half the fleet was destroyed when I left, your mother has been MIA since the flagship went down."
"And you're not looking for her?!" She shouted, ready to take off.
"You are my first priority, you are my daughter, my heir. Your life must be secure, and she knew that as well. By the time we found out, we were halfway here already."
"How can you just give up on her like that! You coward! Why couldn't it have been you!" She shouted, her voice hoarse as she started to charge towards her father, feeling her blood boil. But before she got close,
SLAP!!*
Her face stung and she twisted from the force and fell into large strong arms as her father scooped her up in them.
"Get ahold of yourself, you are Royalty, act like it!"
"Put me down!" Her father sighed as the other Knights rushed off to deal with the approaching Grimm, just as another explosion erupted near them, Opal tossing another Goliath near them.
"Is that your decision, King Triton?" She heard Opal say over the clashing swords, shields, and guns of the battle. "As a person, as a Huntress in training she has a duty here. Shall her first act as Queen be running away from battle?"
"Tsk," her father snorted, "don't mock me child, it's beneath you." He gently dropped Ariel back on to the floor, and gave Hero a once over. "Very well, you can stay for now, but I will be right here." He glared at Hero, "Keep your distance." Hero merely glared back, then aimed Sunder in the direction Robin was kicked to most likely check up on her, but stopped before he did so and offered Ariel a sad look,
"I'm... sorry about..." His head dropped and he looked away, *SHISH CHING* He soared away.
"Does he always abandon you?"
"Only when you kick his little sister square in the chest and send her flying away."
"She should know better than to raise a weapon to a member of the royal family, and he should be sorry, as well as thankful I didn't end their lives." Ariel shook her head, clearly Hero was saying sorry for other reasons, and she could not fathom how her father could be so calm after what he just told her. She wanted to collapse, maybe throw up a little, blow some other stuff up... But maybe he was right, at least partially. She was royalty, and heir to the throne, from that there was no escape. But still... Mother...
"Ariel." Her father said in a soft voice she was not use to as he laid his hand on her shoulder, "I'm sorry about your mother. Her loss is," he glanced at his troops in combat and lowered his voice, "killing me inside. But you well know, as King and leader, I cannot allow my people or my troops to see me weak, I will not allow it. They all look up to me, to us, and they will look up to you. You need to be strong, for them. I know it's not fair, being born into this life, but here we are. There is no running from it."
"I know." She simply replied, mulling over his wisdom, "I know..."
"We will grieve our loss later, for now, your people need you. I, need you." He looked back towards Hero who was helping a glaring Robin out of a hole in a building. "Your, friends need you. Enjoy your last fight with them, you're coming home after today." He turned and flung his trident spear into a group of Grimm, obliterating the lot of them as it landed and exploded. Just like that, he went back to his normal self as he leapt into battle. Peach came beside Ariel,
"What the fuck was that all about? The hell he kick Robin for? I was about to jump in myself if I wasn't dealing with that last Goliath. Who's the shirtless old fuck, Suns dad?" Ariel couldn't help but chuckle a little,
"No, he's King Triton of the Mistral Navy, also my father."
"Oooooo..." Peach replied in understanding. "So that's him... Damn he's hot."
"The hell Peach? Gross."
"No no, I see where you get your edge. You must get your looks from your mom huh?"
"Uh, y-yeah. We really should get back to our job."
"Hmm?" Peach flexed and looked back towards the battle, Opal flinging poor helpless Grimm around, while Ariel's dad wiped them out by the fours, the Paladins ganging up on them one at a time, and the other remaining five Huntsmen working them down as well.
"C'mon." Ariel quickly made her way over to Hero and Robin,
"What the hell meat? What his problem?" Robin snapped,
"I'm sorry, can we talk about it later?" Robin looked at Hero who nodded with his eyes closed,
"Fine."
"Are you okay Robin?"
"Huh, I'm fine of course. I was more worried about Hero, and that guys life." Robin shot back in obvious anger.
"Robin..." Hero scolded as her eyes narrowed at Hero and she read his expression, and it seems something clicked in her head as her face changed.
"Sorry."
"Okay HARP." Hero stepped up and rested his hand on the top of his hilt that was still sheated and connected to his now tattered belt, "Let's give this another go. Peachfuzz, Wetbird, let's go!"
AN: That's it for part one, part two coming soon...
