She knew what was coming. Anyone who had ever seen movies about high school or even had an ounce of common sense could tell you what would happen. But that didn't mean she was ready for it.
Mabel walked in the side door or her school silently. Her plan was to sneak around to her locker the long way, so she could avoid her peers as much as possible. Hopefully she could get there, grab her sketchbook, and make it to her morning art club meeting at 7:30 without being publicly humiliated.
She stalked down the hall with the hood of her jacket up, looking down as a few kids passed. They didn't notice her, or at least didn't call her out. Thank God... Maybe the story hadn't gotten around the whole school yet? She doubted it, with social media and whatnot, but one could hope.
She reached a crossroads in the hallway. The hall intersecting the one she stood in was Junior Hall, where all the juniors had their lockers and hung out before school. She peaked around the corner, and there was her locker, not ten feet away, on the very end of the hall, thankfully as far away from her classmates as possible. All she had to do was cross the hall, get her stuff, and retreat without being noticed by the gang of popular kids standing thirty feet away.
Trying to be quick yet at the same time natural, she rushed to her locker and immediately spun the dial as fast as she could. It should've been second nature, opening the lock this far into the year, but she was nervous, and the din of chatter only put her more on edge.
Damn it! Why won't you open?!
Her fingers fumbled hurriedly, and after what seemed like an eternity, the lock clicked and she yanked the door open. She grabbed everything she thought she might need for the day, so she wouldn't have to make a second trip through this crowded hell hole.
She slammed the door shut and with an armful of binders, sped away. And she really thought she was going to make it; the side hall was so close-
"Is that Mabel Pines?"
She scolded herself for thinking she could pull this off.
She tried to keep walking and act as if she hadn't heard her name, but a firm hand grasped her shoulder and spun her around. She clutched her binders to her chest and looked up to see the one and only Brent Casey, the biggest player on the football team, the biggest name in school, and the biggest asshole she had ever met. Behind him stood his entourage, all smirking at Mabel just as he was, like they were the cats who ate the canary. And in this case, Mabel was the canary.
"Hey there, little sister. I hear you had quite the experience at my party last night. But, I can't remember... what happened... can you refresh my memory, Adam?" Brent asked, feigning forgetfulness.
"Sure thing, bro," said a voice, and from the crowd stepped out Brent's number one follower, Adam Montgomery. "This chick made out with her own twin brother last night, in front of everyone. And that's not even the worst part- who knows what they were doing when they snuck off into the bedroom."
Brent chuckled, and so did everyone else, as to not miss their cue. "I remember now... that's some pretty freaky shit, Pines. I'll give you credit though; you had no shame last night when you swapped spit with your brother. Or maybe it was just the booze making you do that..."
His girlfriend, Vanessa, crossed her arms and spoke up. "But desires like that have to come from somewhere, right Brent? The beer only brought them out, I'm guessing," she said, pursing her perfectly glossed lips.
The crowd erupted in a chorus of that's sick, gross, disgusting, incest. Mabel bit her lip and took a step backward, only to be met by hands that shoved her back toward Brent. She was surrounded, with no way out.
Brent held up his hand for silence, and the crowd instantly fell quiet. "I've been wondering, Pines, what did you do with your brother in that room last night? Did he... pop your cherry?"
Mabel's face burned red. Tears pricked at her eyes and she desperately tried to keep them in; she would not give them the satisfaction of seeing her cry.
"How weird, having your first time with your own brother. Sick," Vanessa spat.
"It's not like that, we didn't-"
"I beg to differ," Brent interrupted as Adam handed him a phone.
"Adam here got video of the whole thing. You really shouldn't leave the window open if you're gonna fuck your brother."
And there on the screen was a blurry image of herself, topless, as Dipper kissed up and down her chest. He pushed her onto the bed and she moaned as he rolled his hips into her, his mouth on her neck. The video ended there.
"Look, we didn't even actually-"
"Either way kiddo, that's pretty wild. You must've been hammered last night," he laughed.
"I'd hate to be you right about now," Adam remarked, tapping the "send to story" button on the video.
"No! Take that down!" Mabel cried, lunging for the phone. But he only pulled it away, dangling it out of her reach, taunting her as if she were a dog who wanted a ball. She broke; tears rolled down her flushing cheeks. This was an absolute disaster.
Vanessa cackled in her falsetto laugh, "You're done for, freak. You might as well just kill yourself or something."
"The hell did you just say?" Someone shouted.
Slowly the laughter dimmed as someone shoved through the other side of the crowd, and Mabel turned to see none other than her own twin brother.
"Yooo, Pines, how's feel to get laid-" Brent teased.
"Fuck off," Dipper snapped, cutting him off. He turned back to his first target, Vanessa.
"The fuck did you just say to my sister." It wasn't a question really, he knew what she had said. He only wanted to see if she dared to stick to it.
Vanessa wavered a bit, uneasy from his closeness and his obvious rage.
"You heard me," she said, but with only half the boldness the statement implied.
Dipper furrowed his brows. She shrank a little more under his gaze.
"Listen up, you fake blonde bitch-"
"Hey! No one talks to my girlfriend like that!" Brent roared, shoving Dipper away from Vanessa.
Dipper regained his footing and wheeled back to Brent. "And no one talks to my sister the way you just did!"
He growled and swung at the mountain of a boy, hitting him square in the jaw. Brent was taken aback, and staggered a bit, but didn't fall.
"It's not my fault you and your sister and God damn freaks-" He yelled, raising his fist, but he was too slow. Dipper landed another punch, giving the football player a bloody nose.
"Who gives a shit! Mind your own fucking business, Brent! You and all your fake little friends need to fuck off, because I don't give two shits what you think!"
Brent dropped his hands from his dripping nose and charged Dipper with open arms. But Dipper tripped him like it was almost second nature. Brent went down face first and lay still, before turning over with a groan. He slowly attempted to get back up, but another quick punch to the mouth sent him right back down. Dipper planted a foot on his chest and leaned down menacingly.
"Stay down, asshole. You're not gonna win this."
Dipper straightened up and looked around at the crowd. They scurried back a few steps, fearing his wrath, but he stayed where he was.
"I'm talking to everyone when I say this: if you don't like us because we're sick, or insane, or for whatever fucking reason, then leave us alone. Don't be a fucking dick-" He ground his foot into Brent's chest, making him wheeze, "like Brent here, or else I guarantee you'll get the same as him. I'm sorry we're not gonna be your little public spectacle today, but Mabel and I will not be picked on like that. If I hear that any one of you gives her shit, I swear to God you'll regret it. And if you say something like Vanessa did, that she should kill herself, it'll be the last thing you ever fucking do."
With that Dipper gave Brent another hard kick and left him coughing up blood on the floor. He approached his sister, who was shocked silent and still, and took her hand.
"C'mon Mabes, let's get the hell outta here."
A/N: And there you go! Moral of the story: don't be a dick! Hope everyone enjoyed!
And to you who backed me up in the reviews, you are greatly appreciated! You guys really made my day by helping stand up to assholes like that. Not only are y'all good fans, but good friends, and that's more than I could ever ask for. Your love and kindness does not go unnoticed 3
I love all of you! Til next time, darlings!
