What was that? Another smash. But now a louder crumble. The ground shakes so much so beneath the hooded hero's feet that this time his footing is lost completely. His knees buckle, and he falls melodramatically onto the snow. Batting wet snowflakes out of his lashes, he opens his eyes from his heap on the ground and looks up. He is stunned to see that half the building has gone! Blinking back the excess flying rubble, Mysterion hoists himself up and prays that the Coon made it out alive. He hoists himself up and bites back tears at the thought that there is only a slim chance of that by now. If he wants any way to save the rest of La Resistance, he would continue leading the monster away from it. His legs wobble like gelatin but he eventually kicks them back into shape. Some small relief is brought to him when he hears the gurgling, throaty roar of the pink wad of bubblegum right behind him. He does not know how long his legs will last. He hopes that Tool Shed is ready with his weaponized tools of destruction. He can already feel his tightly limbs beginning to drag. The monster's hot and terrible breath filled with an unbearable stench threatens to engulf him as it draws nearer. Hopefully Mysterion doesn't trip or anything.
The monster chomps down even further into the roof of the school and the Coon is knocked onto his ass in the gravel for about the third time. He suddenly feels a shift in gravity as the disgusting ball of watery slime decides to let go and the the roof starts to tip into a downward slant. The Coon scrambles for leverage, his plastic claws digging into the gravel roof as it slowly tips in a downward slope. At first, his eyes are shut tight, but after a while he gathers up the courage to open his left and peer at all the damage. The monster is leaving him alone, going off to chase after Mysterion, he supposes. He thought that his battle would never end. He feels a lot safer now. Finally, a giant piece of it just below his feet falls away completely and he is then left dangling for his life on the remaining half of the now-hollow roof. Small bits of dusty debris continuously fall from the hole, creating a bigger and looser gap. Coon is now reduced to hanging helplessly from a rusty, metal cord that once held the plaster for the roof together.
Human Kite's legs weave back and forth as they alternate, swerving simultaneously to avoid rocks, bricks, and falling rubble. Milly's hand still pinches his arm firmly as she half-drags him along the side of the right wing. Once they turn the corner and reach the back, Milly pulls him in her death grip behind the dumpster. They crouch down and wait for the monstrous screaming and destruction to go away. They sit too paralyzed to even utter a squeal as the ground will not cease to shake. But suddenly, the loud cracks of the building collapsing are no more. A spray of putrid-smelling, pink liquid is left within the wake of all the feasting on the schoolhouse. It's still a few moments after the rumbling has faded to only a dull bump every now and then and the school has broken completely in on its left half that the two dare to let out their breath. But that is when the metal, charging lance comes flying.
The two only have milliseconds to notice before Human Kite shoves Milly out of the way and dives in the opposite direction himself. The thick pole catches right in between them, barely missing by a red, curly hair. With a sharp clang that continues to ring in both children's heads long after it dissipates, the lance firmly lodges itself into the dented dumpster. The pair take one look at it and recognize the type of weapon they have been attack with. Then they both turn around to see a shadow creeping up over them, threatening to engulf both of them. The smell of rust metal overtakes them and the sudden darkness sends shivers down Milly's spine. It's hard to make out much detail in the humongous, iron, torturing device.
"TIMMY!" the muffled yet familiar voice screams out, echoing beneath the confines of its outfit.
Human Kite and Milly straiten out and pull themselves to their feet. "Iron Maiden!" Human Kite smiles brightly, something he hasn't done in a while since the discovery of the world-binding worm. He steps forward, eager to greet his friend who only mere seconds ago tried to murder him.
"TIMMY!" the maiden shouts again excitedly. He seems to recognize them now. Now they can all let out a real breath of relief. This means the rest of La Resistance has a chance of being okay as well. Iron Maiden wheels himself closer to Human Kite and Milly until he passes through in between them and reaches the dumpster. He stops in front of where his lance is still stuck in the side of the dumpster. He grabs hold of the end of it. Human Kite and Milly watch as his wheels work now in the opposite direction as Iron Maiden attempts to yank his lance from out of the side of the dumpster. Then he turns around again to them and Human Kite has to lean all the way back to avoid getting a nasty rip of his jugular vein as the lance swings around. "TIMMY!" He motions for them to follow him. The two of them eagerly obey.
The maiden takes off farther along yellow-brick wall and Human Kite and Milly trail behind him. Human Kite notices Milly's both happy and excited bounce, "I think that we may still be able to save the town. If our friends are truly okay then we need to save them now."
