A/N: I really didn't feel like writing today but I pulled through by pretty much forcing myself to. I'm sorry if this chapter seems a little crappy but I'm going to be grieving my favourite character from Star Wars for a while. I can't believe that Kylo Ren turned out to be even more evil than his grandfather... I didn't even think that was possible. Please kill him for me someone, please.
Anyway, I'm sorry about the rant. Please tell me if I mess up.
sabina21 & brankel1: Thanks!
hewhoreaps: Yep, no time to have fun when you're a ranger!
Evangella Akriti: I almost forgot the episode myself you know.
Kira inwardly groaned, giving up on the textbook in front of her. Studying with Trent most definitely was not a great idea. Glancing sideways at the boy sitting next to her - right next to her - she crossed her legs and grabbed his new sketchbook, tearing a page out. She proceeded to make a paper aeroplane in a desperate attempt to distract her mind from certain thoughts.
Trent took no notice, staring at his textbook, pretending to absorb all the information while all he was really doing was blocking all thoughts of her from entering his mind. Ever since the kiss he received two weeks ago, he hadn't been able to look Kira straight in the eyes. This was the first time since said kiss that they had been left alone together; Conner and Ethan suddenly got up and left whereas Kim and Tommy were doing something important. He didn't really want to think about what that was, given the fact that he was already having a hard time around Kira.
Simply put, it was too awkward to be alone together until they talked about that kiss. And right now, the pair of them were just stalling as if waiting for their issues to fix themselves.
"Hey there," Kira heard a somewhat familiar voice say. She looked up to see a guy wearing all navy blue standing at the counter, most likely waiting to order a drink. Feeling confused, she looked to Trent and reluctantly nudged him.
"Trent, does that guy at the bar look familiar to you?"
The white ranger looked up from his textbook, relieved that she hadn't asked him a personal question and scoped the counter to locate whoever Kira was talking about. He settled on the guy with the blue baseball cap and raised an eyebrow.
"Hi," the guy said to Hayley.
"You mean the one in the blue hat?" Trent asked, suddenly feeling insecure. "Not really. Why?" He looked back at his textbook, forcing himself to calm down. He didn't have a claim on Kira, no matter how much he wished he did. She wasn't his girlfriend; she had a right to be interested in anyone she liked.
"I'm sure I've seen him before," Kira answered, squinting her eyes. Trent let out a noise of disbelief.
"Well, go ask," he suggested nonchalantly. She scoffed.
"I'm not just gonna go up to some guy I don't know," she murmured, making him laugh.
"Okay... can we go back to studying then?" he requested, before once again focussing on the utterly boring textbook. He didn't have to look at her to know that she was still staring at the guy, desperately trying to figure out who he was. "It's driving you crazy, isn't it?" Kira gave a 'hmm' and Trent sighed inwardly, trying not to glare at the blue guy. "Go ask."
Sharing one last glance with Trent, Kira finally threw her books on the table and leapt off the couch. Trent watched her go up to the guy, slamming the book shut. There was no way he was going to be able to study now. He was far too jea- concerned. Yep, that was it, he was concerned. He was merely keeping an eye on her for Ethan and Conner, the two guys who were not-so-secretly overprotective of her.
"Hey," Kira started, making the blue guy turn around to face her. "Do we know each other?"
Said boy narrowed his eyes at her, as if trying to remember, before smiling. "I don't think so," he answered, shaking her hand. "I'm Blake." He turned to gesture to the guy next to him. "This is Jesse."
"Blake, you just look, so familiar to me," Kira said, waving her hands about.
"Do you follow motocross?" Blake asked, taking his cap off.
"No," Kira answered slowly, completely out of her depth. "Why, is that what you do?" One of her classmates suddenly approached them, or rather Blake, silently asking for an autograph. Blake swiftly complied, even throwing in his cap for free. The awestruck fan walked away as Kira looked at Blake in surprise. "Okay, so you're famous for, riding a motorcycle?"
Blake laughed a little before looking back at Jesse while patting Kira's arm and saying, "Don't be so surprised."
"Oh, no," she said quickly, turning to follow him to the foosball table where they were joined by Jesse. "I just didn't know you could be famous for that."
"Well, why don't you come see for yourself?" Blake proposed, startling Kira and making Trent look over in obvious annoyance. "The nationals are this week at Reefside MX Park. Bring some friends; I'll get you passes."
"You asking me out?" Kira asked coyly, fully aware that Trent was watching. Trent shook his head at this, trying not to rip his textbook in half. He hoped against hope that she was only joking.
"No, it's nothing like that," Blake protested with an amused laugh. "Look, part of being a rider is spreading the word of our sport. Without that, no one would come out on their own. I promise you, you'll totally be into it.
"Okay," Kira agreed, nodding.
"Here you go," Jesse said, handing her some passes.
"Thanks," Kira replied, smiling as she walked back to Trent.
"Cool," Blake commented, grinning as he watched her leave and sit down on the couch, only to see the guy sitting next to her glaring at him. Uh-oh. He must have given off the wrong impression. Now he knew why Tori didn't like it when he was too friendly to certain girls. Oh well...
"So, did you recognise him?" Trent questioned casually. Kira smirked, knowing that he'd been listening the whole time and was merely pretending.
"No but he gave me passes to go and see him in a motocross race," she responded, showing Trent the passes. "You're coming with me." He peered up at her, blinking in surprise as she blushed, realising how that sounded. "I mean, as well as the others."
"Yeah, I think I'll pass on this one. You can go with Conner and Ethan," he replied, getting back to work, sighing inwardly as the atmosphere went awkward once again.
"How's the new system going?" Michael asked, leaning over Hayley's shoulder to get a good look at the main computer.
"I don't think it's working right," Hayley confessed with a sigh. "I've checked the routines, the sub-routines, every line of code. It just doesn't make any sense. This is a map of California. If this reading were accurate, we'd have an entire blanket of evil spreading over the entire state."
"You sure it's a computer problem?" Michael questioned.
"It better be. Or we've got some major trouble," Hayley stated.
"All right, folks, we are ready to start the first one-two-five moto," the commentator announced as Ethan, Kira and Conner trudged through the MX park. Kira was a little deflated that Trent hadn't wanted to come - she'd had just one pass left, so she couldn't choose between Kim and Tommy - but at least her other boys were here.
"Ooh let's get over there, I don't wanna miss the start!" Ethan exclaimed and his friends smiled as they followed him over to the race.
"The thirty second board is up. The gate is down and they're off!"
Kira, Conner and Ethan cheered as the race started. Blake seemed to start off good considering that one of the racers ran into a blockade and was sent to the ground.
"Yeah!" Kira cheered as some of the racers passed her. "Hey, look! There's Blake!" She pointed to said guy who suddenly accelerated and was now at the front, other racers hot on his trail. The trio watched as Blake effortlessly made it to the finish line, followed closely by another racer.
"And Blake Bradley wins again!"
"Hayley," Michael began, making said woman turn around. He came to stand next to her and patted her lightly on the shoulder. "It's late. You should go home and get some rest."
"There it is again," Hayley commented, pointing to the screen. "The energy is radiating from this point here."
"Blue Bay Harbour. That's where the ranger ninja school is," Michael stated.
"I've had some correspondence with Cam Watanabe," Hayley told him, shaking her head in confusion. "They discontinued the ranger program after Lothor was destroyed." Michael nodded slowly.
"Hope you still have that number."
"So what do you think?" Blake asked Kira as they walked to his caravan together. Conner and Ethan followed silently.
"It was awesome," Kira answered as her friends shared a smile behind her.
"Don't say I didn't warn you," Blake told her. He then looked back at Conner and Ethan before turning to Kira again. "I don't see your boyfriend here. Didn't he come along?"
"My boyfriend?" Kira repeated, smiling shyly. She realised he was most likely talking about Trent, given the fact that he'd never seen Conner or Ethan before. "Oh, the guy I was with earlier today? He's not my boyfriend," she divulged sadly. "I did ask him though but he was apparently busy. Can you believe that?"
"I think that may have been my fault," Blake revealed, surprising Kira. "I saw him giving me a death glare earlier. I think maybe he got the wrong idea, the same way you did." Kira tried not to look too happy at this news and racked her brains for something to say. Damn, she couldn't think right now. Luckily, Conner came to her rescue.
"Thanks for hooking us up, man," he told Blake, steering the conversation away from Trent. Honestly, he found it amusing how Trent still hadn't asked Kira out. Maybe this was what he needed.
"No problem, guys," Blake replied with a smile as they reached his caravan. "Listen, what are you guys doing now?" He paused to throw someone his helmet. "You want to grab a bite?" Just then, something beeped. Blake pulled some sort of chain from his backpack and sighed. "Uh, I take that back. Looks like we're gonna have to reschedule."
"Is everything okay?" Kira implored.
"Yeah, I hope so," Blake answered in a worried tone, looking like he was miles away. He then snapped out of it and smiled. "Listen, it was really nice meeting you. I'll see you guys later."
"That was kinda weird," Kira commented. Ethan nodded just as their morphers beeped.
"Not so weird," the blue ranger said, looking at his morpher bracelet.
"Let's go!" Conner ordered.
"Evil power rangers?" Kira asked as they stood around the main computer. "How is that even possible?!"
"Trent was evil at one point," Kim reminded her.
"But I thought that we were the only ones left," Trent stated.
"Those are the wind ninja rangers," Kim informed him.
"Yes, they are," Hayley confirmed. "There's been an evil energy surge over the past twenty-four hours. We think the Abyss of Evil has been opened up."
"Doctor M, do you think that Lothor's back?" Kira asked as she looked at her science teacher.
"Unfortunately... but there's only one way to find out," Michael answered.
"Let's deal with these fakes," Conner growled.
"Trent, you stay here with us. This is just the kind of opportunity Mesogog would take advantage of."
"Right," Trent agreed, nodding his head.
"Kim, Tommy, you go to other parts of the city. Mesogog might set one of his monsters loose."
"Okay but if the kids need help, I'll join them," Tommy said. Michael nodded in approval.
Conner, Kira, Ethan, Tommy and Kim all held up their wrists and their morphers appeared.
"You guys ready?"
"Ready!"
"Dino Thunder! Power up! Ha!"
"That's far enough," Conner told them as he, Kira, and Ethan arrived on the scene. They came face to face with the three wind ninja rangers and several footmen called kelzaks.
"You must be lost," the red wind ranger stated. "Cos I know that we didn't invite you."
"Maybe you've forgotten but your supposed to beat the bad guys, not be the bad guys," Ethan quipped.
"Good, bad, what's the difference?" the blue wind ranger asked. "It's all about power."
"I guess we're going to have to fight them," Conner informed the others before they pulled out their thundermax sabres. The three evil rangers watched on as their kelzaks took on the the three dino rangers. After a while, it became apparent that the dino rangers were no match for the wind ninjas. "They're too strong! We need to regroup!"
"Yeah, you'd better run!" the red ninja taunted as he and his friends watched the younger rangers go. Unbeknownst to them, the other half of their team watched them from above, shaking their heads in despair at their newest problem yet.
"The important thing is that you guys are all right," Michael told his three teen rangers who were battle wasted but still morphed. "And that we learnt something."
"What it's like to have our butts kicked?" Conner asked, holding his dino helmet in his hands.
"No," Michael answered. "That it's going to take a lot more than what we have to defeat them."
"More?" Kira repeated in shock. "Like what?"
"I don't know Kira," Michael admitted. "That's what we need to figure out."
"Why don't we just use our dino zords and kick their ninja butts. I don't get it," Conner said, standing up and walking to the centre of the room. Ethan and Kira followed suit.
"I'm with Conner on this one," Ethan stated.
"Me too," Kira concurred.
"Look. These are people that were once good but something's happened to them," Michael told them, looking at Kira specifically. A look of understanding showed up on the purple ranger's face and Michael knew that he'd made his mark on her. "Until we figure out what that is, we defend ourselves. But we don't destroy them."
"Doctor M's right," Kira told Conner before looking to Ethan. "You know he is. This is like Trent all over again. We can't afford neglect them like we did him."
"Listen guys, we're missing something here," Kim spoke up. Everyone turned to look at her, questioning looks on each of their faces. "Mesogog. If he finds out about this..."
"Then he might team up with them," Tommy filled in, looking at the others. "Or rather, he'll make a damaging deal with Lothor."
A/N: I know this chapter is ridiculously sloppy but like I said, I'm going through something. It is pretty stupid how emotionally invested I am in a certain fictional character but that's just the way it is. Hopefully, by next week, I'll make it up to you guys.
