Elyan had always wanted to be a knight. As children he and Leon had pretended to be knights many times. Once one of the older noble boys had caught them at it and taunted Elyan, reminding him that he could never really be a knight, he was just the son of a servant and a blacksmith.
Elyan wished he could see the look on that boy's face now.
He looked over to where Leon stood, having quietly watched the impromptu knighting ceremony and his friend grinned briefly. Despite the danger they were all in, Elyan couldn't help but grin back.
