Chapter 36-

The rest of the week saw classes cancelled. James and Lars soon moved on, they talked many times about it, but eventually let it go.

Lars was in the common room, he was alone. Remus was sending letters, Peter out following James and Sirius, with James and Sirius out causing trouble. Lars stayed away from the involvement. James and Sirius came back with two parchments. Both discussing detention for the rest of the year, only time they could go out was for finals.

The Herbology final was 6 days away, and everyone who had the class had finished, including Lars. They sent it in early, therefore ending class, except for the last week of May. Everyone had those tests, so the focus was the last week.

Slughorn sent off the invitations, and Lars received his the last day before the finals. It was to be the last day of May, and one in the second week of June. Lars was excited for the club, but had finals to worry about first.

A few Gryffindor's talked about the situation with their O.W.L's. Lars had enough on his plate he felt with his exams, but Lars and Remus still studied, before the night before the first final.

Lars woke up the next morning on the common room chair, at 3 AM. He fell asleep reading the Potions handy book. Lars got up and found a note on the chair. It was addressed to Lars. Lars read it

"Dear Lars, you have achieved greatly since that first incident," Lars was confused until he read on. "Your grades are enclosed in the second paper," Lars realized it was his Herbology grade. "Hope you enjoy it," Lars then closed the paper. Lars reached for the second paper, and almost screamed. Lars didn't have to take the written part. His plant had done it all. Lars finished with a A in Herbology. That was a good start.

Lars then went back to sleep, waking up again at 8 AM, and staying up. James and Sirius came down, and Remus, followed by Peter. All 5 of them headed down to the Great Hall.

Peter even explained he was nervous, but James told Peter to follow what James does, and Peter will do great. Lars and Remus looked away, and discussed their grades. Nothing changed between them. They were starting to eat, as Professor Dumbledore spoke to the Great Hall.

"Attention all," Dumbledore started. "The finals for everyone are here," Dumbledore smiled at everyone. "So remember, help will always be found at Hogwarts," Dumbledore heard some sighs. "If one is in need of it!" Dumbledore laughed at the reaction of the students and let them eat.

Lars and Remus saw Montague nervous. Severus was calming him down. James and Sirius were also nervous, but all eventually finished and went to their first class, Transfiguration.

McGonagall waited for everyone to enter to explain the final. Lars saw Montague and Severus whispering to one another, but Lars didn't want a problem, as McGonagall didn't notice. She sent them to different locations to start their written test.

Lars sat by Montague. Lars picked up the paper. Not bad at all. Lars knew mostly everything from heart. Lars after all, had a A average in the class. Lars noticed Montague struggling, it took Montague a few minutes to answer a question, but the same was noted for James. Lars couldn't see Severus, but just worried about his paper.

Once everyone had finished, McGonagall spoke about the second part. A test trying to add 2 extra legs to the chair. One at a time, they were sent to a room in pairs, and had to change the chairs, they had to beat out the other person, and they were monitored.

Lars was paired with Sirius. Lars had to transfigure 5 chairs. But quickly dispatched of 3 of them. Lars felt bad for Sirius, but realized it was a test, so quickly continued. Lars finished, and waited to meet with McGonagall for a grade, as instructed.

Lars was the first to receive his grade. He received B+. Lars was again satisfied, and headed off to Potions. James and Sirius took a long time, but Remus met with Lars. They discussed grades, and found out about their feelings.
