Ha! Glad you like the party and the steamy sex. We'll see more of that later on down the road.
Yes! I hope they can help Leila. She's such a good kid and just curious about it all.
Lol, well I've been know to be difficult to understand when I go back home, so I'm just putting that in here as personal experience.
Hope you enjoy this chapter. I've been wanting to get to this point for so long!
Two months had passed and everyone had settled back into their routine. Jean had taken to teaching Leila and things were going well. They would do scholastic studies all morning, have lunch, do a fun recap of what she learned, take a short break and then go straight into the training. Leila was a team player and thought everything was fun. Jean tried a different approach to how she was teaching Leila about her powers and Leila really responded well. It seemed to be going great for them.
Rogue had taken over as the head counselor and didn't realize how hectic it would be. Students came to her almost every hour, sometimes staying for forty five minutes, just needing to talk to someone about what they were going through. She was definitely tired by the end of the day, but she enjoyed it. She enjoyed getting up in the morning and doing her job.
Today was no different.
The flu had also run rampant throughout the school over the last three weeks, so Rogue made it a point to wipe everything down in their bedroom and her office. She disinfected everything she could think of that anyone would touch. She swore she was next to get it, since she dealt with the students coming in and out of her office. Still, she kept herself as healthy as she could but there was a feeling of her core running down, but she wasn't alarmed. This was a different feeling than the flu and it was familiar.
Rogue realized she had several minutes before classes started, so she headed down to Beast's lab and gave a friendly tap on the door frame. "Mornin', Hank." She said with a smile, seeing him look up and return the smile.
"Good morning." He said, taking his glasses off and standing to greet her. "What can I do for you? Are you coming down with the flu?"
Letting out a few chuckles, Rogue crossed her arms. "Nah, nothin' like that." She said, looking around his lab before making eye contact with him. "Maybe ah am gettin' sick or maybe ah'm just being hopeful, but ah came ta see if ya had a pregnancy test."
"Goodness." Beast replied, shocked. "Are the signs there?"
"Well, ah've been so busy." Rogue said. "Ah really started thinking about it and this feeling ain't tha flu. It's like when ah was pregnant with Leila."
Rogue watched as he walked to the side of an examination table and opened a drawer. "Are you late?" He asked, taking out three and walking back over to her.
"Very." Rogue said, taking the tests from him. "Like ah said, ah'm probably being hopeful. Ah've been late before."
"Excuse me for being intrusive, but how late are you?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Ah don't know. A couple o' months?" She asked. "Like ah said, ah've been so busy that a missed period ain't on my radar. Ah've had missed ones before and nothin's ever come of it."
Giving her a warm smile, Beast placed his hand on her shoulder. "Well, keep me informed. As a doctor and a friend."
She smiled back. "Absolutely." She said as she walked out of the lab and into the women's restroom that was just down the hall.
Locking herself in the handicapped stall, she looked down at the three tests and let out a long, staggering breath. Her heart started to pound as she open the first test and got it ready.
"Here goes nothin'." She said as she used the first test.
Setting it down on the sink, she could hear her heart pounding in her ears as she waited for the lines to pop up. She told herself she wouldn't get worked up if it was positive or negative the first time. Beast had given her three tests, so she was going to make sure they all said the same thing.
Closing her eyes, Rogue tried to calm herself. She took in deep breaths and slowly let them out. She could feel the blood pumping through her and even though she was somewhat excited, she was also very frightened.
Opening her eyes, she looked at her phone to see it had been two minutes. Walking closer to the sink, she looked at the test.
"Oh my god." She said softly, seeing it read 'pregnant'. "Okay, ah'm gonna use these other two. Ah'm not gonna get worked up over one."
She couldn't help but smile as she used the other two tests and set them aside, waiting for the results. When two minutes had gone by she went back over and looked at the tests.
"Pregnant." She said, looking at the other one. "Pregnant."
She felt her eyes grow hot with tears and let them come out as her knees hit the floor in disbelief. Crying for several minutes, she finally composed herself, washing her face and making sure the little make up she had on looked alright before she exited with the tests and headed toward Beast's office.
"Hank," She said, seeing him look up. "Ah'm pregnant!"
His face beamed with delight. "My friend!" He stood and walked over to her, giving her a big hug. "This is joyous news!"
She cried into his shoulder as she hugged him back just as tight. "Ah can't believe it." She said. "Thank you. Thank you so much for everything ya done."
Pulling away, Beast took her hands. "It's my passion and pleasure to help my friends." He said, wiping her wet cheeks dry from the tears. "Please come by any time."
"Ah will." She smiled.
"I wasn't expecting you to use all three, but I suppose it is a much needed confirmation. Here," Beast said, reaching over and grabbing a bag for blood samples. "Keep those in here. I'm sure you'll want to show them off later."
She smiled wider as she dropped them into the bag and closed it. "Thanks." She said as she left and went back to her office.
"Petit." Gambit said, rubbing his forehead. "We been over dis b'fore. Bakin' soda ain' de same as bakin' powder."
"But, they look the same." The teen said, looking down at her ruined recipe.
"Mais, non. Dey ain'." He said as he rubbed his face vigorously. "Ici. We do dis again, eh? Y' come back after school's out. D'accord?"
"Alright." The girl said as she watched him take the mixture and dump it into the trash at the end of her station. "Sorry."
"Non, non. It be a'right. Dat's why y' here, no?" He said, giving her a smile.
"I'll see you later." She said as she gathered her things and left the room.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, he glanced at the clock. "Need some mo' coffee." He said as he grabbed his travel mug and headed toward the kitchen.
Walking to the large room, he saw several students grabbing lunch and chatting with their friends. Placing a pod in the coffee machine, he closed it and pressed the desired cup size before he waited for it to brew. He was glad they finally invested in this machine. No one liked to make coffee, so this was perfect. Once it was done, he threw the pod in the trash and took his mug.
Taking a sip, he felt a hand on his back that made him look to see Storm. "The Professor would like to speak with you." She said, causing Gambit to raise an eyebrow. "Do not worry, you are not in trouble."
"Bon." Gambit winked at her before he walked down with Storm to Charles' office.
Once they entered, they saw Cyclops, Kitty, Wolverine, Iceman, Nightcrawler and Jean sitting on the couches and chairs. "Glad you could make it." Cyclops smiled as they walked closer to everyone.
"Wha's all dis?" Gambit asked.
"I've been throwing the idea around," Charles started, getting everyone's attention. "Of opening another institute, but in California."
Everyone was clearly surprised by the news. "What brought on this, Professor?" Cyclops asked.
"This school is growing and it's getting to the point where building on just isn't an option anymore." Charles continued.
"Well," Kitty spoke up. "When is this happening?"
Charles shook his head. "This wouldn't be for several months, at least. We would still have to meet with the officials to see if we can even break ground after finding a property." He said, pausing before he looked around the room. "How do you feel about another school opening. I would like all of your thoughts. Please be honest with me."
"I sink ze main concern is who wvould run ze school." Nightcrawler said. "Wvould you choose some of us or bring in new people?"
Charles shook his head. "I would like for you to decide amongst each other." He said. "If anything, I would take some of you to get it started and once we've hired enough staff you can come home."
"How long's that gonna take?" Wolverine asked, looking around the room. "Most o' these people have kids. You can't expect them to go."
"I will go." Storm said, looking at the others. "I have no obligations besides my teaching."
"I'll go, too." Iceman said, raising his hand. "As much as it'd kill me to leave this place, having a new school is pretty exciting."
Jean and Cyclops looked at each other before glancing at Gambit. "We would have to discuss this more." Cyclops said.
"Same." Gambit said. "I ain' gon speak on beha'f o' Anna. I talk t' her t'night."
"I understand." Charles said. "This is a life changing move. Even if it would be until the institute is staffed. I would like to go out and look at properties this next week. Get an idea of size and price. I'll call another meeting and you can share with me who will go and who else will stay. Until then."
Taking another sip of coffee, Gambit was the first out of Charles' office. Stepping to the side, he waited for Storm and then walked with her.
"Y' gonna up an' leave me, Stormy?" He asked.
"It would be to start the school." Storm said. "I would return."
"Would you?" He asked.
"Hmm." She thought, giving him a playful grin. "I would be away from you, so it is tempting."
"Ha!" He laughed as they continued to walk down the hall. "Y'd miss me too much, Ro."
"Yes and especially Leila." She said as they passed the kitchen. "Well, I shall see you, my friend."
"Mm hmm." Gambit said, taking another sip of coffee as he went back to his class room.
Opening the door, he saw Rogue sitting at his desk. "There ya are." She said, jumping out of his chair. "Ah've got somethin' ta tell ya."
"Me too." He said, letting her take his free hand. "Heavy stuff."
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"Professor wants t' open anot'er school in California." Gambit said.
"Why there?" Rogue asked.
Gambit shrugged. "School be getting big. Can't add on anymore so he need some people to go an' get it started once it built. Ro a'ready volunteer along with Bobby. Er'body else be on de fence. Need t' talk it over." He said.
"Well, yeah." Rogue said. "Do ya wanna go?"
He smiled. "Jus' want wha's bes' fo' us." He said, pulling her closer.
She smiled back at him as she placed her hands on his chest. "Same," She said as she looked up into his eyes. "And ah honestly think we don't need ta be goin' anywhere. Not right now, anyway."
"Okay?" He asked, noticing how happy she was.
"Because we're expecting." She said, smiling uncontrollably up at him.
Gambit's eyes went wide and his mouth opened. "Y' mean?" He asked, a smile forming on his face. "Yo' pregnant?"
"Yes." She said, cupping his face. "Ah'm pregnant, Remy."
"Anna!" He hugged her tight with his free hand. "Dis mean I ain' broken!"
Rogue laughed as she pulled him in for a kiss.
"Mm!" He pulled away. "Wha' 'bout de adoption? We still gon do dat?"
"Ah'm all for it if they let us." She said, smiling up at him.
He smiled back as he leaned in and kissed her again. "Can' believe dis happenin'." He said, resting his forehead on hers.
"Ah can't either." She said, placing her hands on the sides of his face. "Ah never thought this would happen."
"Mais." He said, pulling away again with all seriousness. "We gon need a bigger place."
"Yeah." Rogue agreed. "As much as ah'd hate ta move, it would be best for us as a family."
His smile came back as he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close. "I buy y' a big house, eh? Wha'ever y' want, mon amour."
Rogue chuckled. "Ah don't need a big house, lover. Just one big enough for three kids." She said.
"We go house huntin' dis weekend." He said.
"Remy, we don't need the house for a while. Besides," Rogue said. "We've gotta plan that Christmas trip ta New Orleans."
"But yo' dream house might sell out from unde'neat' us. Bes' jump on dat." He said, causing her to smile.
"Okay. House hunting this weekend it is." She said, planting a kiss on his lips as a student walked in. "Ah'll see ya later, hun."
For the rest of the day, Rogue was on cloud nine. She tried her hardest to stay focused when students needed to speak with her, but she couldn't help thinking about the future. Straightening up her office after school was out, she stacked a few files of the students that had come to her that afternoon on her desk. Before she could place them in her drawer, a knock caused her to look up to see Jean.
"Hey." Rogue said with a smile. "Come on in, hun."
"How was today?" Jean asked, walking closer to Rogue.
"Eventful." Rogue said with a big smile.
Jean raised an eyebrow. "Anna?" She asked, a smile forming across her face. "Are you?"
Placing the files in the drawer, Rogue looked at her friend. "Ah'm pregnant." She said, seeing Jean's face light up.
"Oh my god!" She said as she moved in and hugged her. "That's fantastic news! Did you tell Remy?"
"Of course." She said. "There was no way ah was gonna keep that ta myself all day."
"When will you tell Leila?" Jean asked.
Rogue shook her head. "Ah don't know. We could tell her tonight, ah guess." She said. "Ya don't think it's too soon? Ah'm only a couple months along."
"Hey, everything will be fine." Jean said, placing her hands on Rogue's shoulders. "Tell her tonight. She'll be ecstatic."
Rogue's smiled widened. "Alright. We will." She said.
After they chit chatted for a while, Rogue headed down to Gambit's class room to find him going over a recipe with a student.
"Now, bakin' powder is wha' y' gonna use." He said to the girl as he noticed Rogue at the door and immediately smiled. "Hey, chere. Come right in. We be done in a bit."
Smiling, Rogue walked over and sat down at his desk as he continued his lesson.
"Oui!" He got excited. "Look at dat!" Gambit said, causing the girl to laugh. "Look how dat dough look! Mm!"
Rogue chuckled as she watched them pour the dough into the pan and place it in the oven.
"Dis gonna take jus' a few minutes." Gambit said, winking at Rogue as he wrote some stuff down on the girl's paper. "Jus' remember, bakin' soda ain' de same as bakin' powder."
"Right." The girl said nodding.
When twenty minutes passed, the timer went off and Gambit took the pan out of the oven. "Dis looks great!" He said, making the girl smile. "Great job!"
"Thank you." The student said.
"Here," Gambit said. "Dis your's. Share it wit' yo' friends."
After packing it up for her she left the class room with her things, leaving Rogue and Gambit alone. "So," Rogue started, getting his attention as he packed up with desk. "Ah was thinking we tell Leila tonight."
"Of course." He said, slinging his backpack over his shoulder before taking her hand and walking out of the class room with her. "Chere, dat news made m' day. Put m' in a good mood."
"Same." Rogue said as they walked toward the library where they knew Leila would be. "Ah'm excited ta tell her."
"Me too." He said, smiling at her as they walked in seeing Leila coloring and Jean watching her.
"Hey baby." Rogue said, getting her attention.
"Hi mommy!" She said as she placed the crayon in the box and closed it.
"Get ya stuff, we're gonna to up to our room." Rogue said.
"Are we going to dinner?" She asked, placing the coloring book in her backpack and zipping it up.
"We sure can." Rogue answered as she waved to Jean before they walked upstairs and to their room.
Following Leila into her room, she placed her giraffe backpack on her closet door handle and turned around to see her parents sit on her bed.
"Leila, we've got something ta tell ya." She said, expecting her to read her thoughts.
"What is it?" Leila asked, noticing the smile on her parent's faces.
"Ah'm gonna have a baby." Rogue said, smiling at Leila's reaction.
"Really?" Leila asked with a big smile. "I'm gonna have a baby sister?"
"Well ah don't know if it's gonna be a sister or a brother yet, but ya might." Rogue said as Leila hugged her. "Isn't that exciting?"
"Uh huh!" Leila said.
"Somet'in' else." Gambit said, making Leila look at him. "We gonna be lookin' fo' a house."
Leila's face was confused. "Why?" She asked. "We live here."
"Well, there ain't room for this baby in our room or yours." Rogue explained. "And, we still might be adopting. So, we'll need more room for 3 of ya."
"But I like my room." Leila said, her face going sad.
"Aww, baby." Rogue cupped her face. "We're still gonna come ta school here every day. We're still gonna see everyone every day."
"Dat's right." Gambit said, placing his hand on her tiny shoulder. "We gonna ride in de car toget'er an' come t' school."
"Am I still going to have classes with Jeanie?" Leila asked.
"Of course." Rogue smiled. "Now come on. Let's go eat."
"I'll grab her." Gambit said as they got out of the car.
Opening the door, Gambit gently unbuckled Leila and carefully took her in his arms. "She ain't waking up." Rogue smiled as they walked inside.
Making their way up the stairs, they were careful to keep quiet as they came to their room. Opening the door, Rogue walked ahead and opened the bedroom door that led to the hallway. Reaching out, she quietly opened Leila's door and turned the bed down before she opened the top drawer of her dresser and took out a nightgown. Gently placing her on the bed, they got her changed and under the covers before they quietly headed back into their room, making sure to leave the giraffe night light on.
Plopping down on the bed, Rogue kicked her shoes off as she watched Gambit head around and to the other side of the bed. "Ah'm beat." She said, seeing his loving smile form on his face.
"Den let's get y' in bed, eh?" He said, kicking his own shoes off before he pulled the covers down.
Getting undressed, they climbed into bed and turned the lights out before they moved closer to each other. Rogue smiled when she felt Gambit's hand move down to her abdomen.
"What's on ya mind?" She asked, placing her hand on his as his thumb gently stroked her skin.
He gave a light chuckle. "Jus' can' believe dis happenin'." He said, kissing the side of her head. "Pretty much gave up."
"So did ah." She said, rolling on to her side and facing him. "We've waited for this one for a while."
"A'most four years." He softly said, kissing her forehead.
"Ah wanna tell ya family." She said.
He laughed lightly. "I t'ink we keep it from dem until Chris'mas. Be a nice surprise, no?" He asked. "T'ink y' be showin' den?"
"Hmm, ah don't know." Rogue said. "Ah have no clue if it'll be the same like with Leila or completely different. My lord, if this baby is bigger than her just put me out of my misery."
"Oh please." He said, pulling her close. "Y' looked great."
"Yeah?" She asked. "Ah didn't feel great, that's for damn sure."
"Looked great t' me, mon amour." He said, kissing her lips softly. "A'ways do."
"Mm." She moaned as he kissed her again. "Ah see what ya tryin' ta do."
"Whadya mean?" He asked with a playful grin, running his hand up her side.
"Ya tryin' ta get laid." She said, smiling back at his grin.
"Me? Tryin'a get laid?" He asked, gently running his fingers ever so lightly up the middle of her chest. "Psht! T'ink y' got me mixed up wit' some ot'er homme, girl."
"Oh yeah, since ah sleep around with so many men these days." She chuckled as she moved in and kissed him. "Ah love ya."
"Hmm." He lightly laughed. "Love y', too."
Settling in, Rogue moved in closer and smiled when Gambit wrapped his arms around her.
"Wha' kinda house y' want?" He softly asked.
"Ah ain't never thought about it." Rogue said, feeling him kiss the side of her head. "Ah guess when ah see it ah'll know."
"An' if y' don' like none o' dem selections, I build y' one." He said, kissing the side of her head again.
"Guess we need ta go car shopping as well." Rogue said. "And a sedan ain't gonna cut it."
"Y' gonna be a soccer mom?" He asked, smiling at her soft giggle.
"Hell, ah just might." She said, letting out a deep sigh as she lifted her hand and ran her fingers through his hair. "Ya gonna grow this out?"
"Maybe a li'l longer." Gambit said, closing his eyes at the sensation. "Mmm."
Smiling, she kissed him softly before she closed her eyes as well and fell asleep.
"Mommy?" Rogue woke up to Leila in her ear.
"Mm!" She rolled on to her back to see Leila leaning over on the mattress. "What's wrong, baby?"
"I don't feel good." Leila said as she rested her head on the mattress. "My tummy hurts."
Sitting up, Rogue threw the covers off and got out of bed. "Come on." She said, picking her up and taking her to the bathroom.
Sitting her on the edge of the bathtub, Rogue lifted the toilet seat and Leila immediately threw up.
"Aww, sugah." She said, rubbing her back gently.
Leila started to cry afterwards as she sat there completely still. "Wha's goin' on?" Gambit asked, walking into the bathroom.
Rogue looked up at him. "Stomach bug." She said, seeing him slightly frown. "Ya wanna grab a cold wash cloth for me?"
"Yeah." He said, turning and opening the closet to his left where they kept the towels.
Grabbing a wash cloth, he put it under the faucet and soaked it before wringing it out and handing it to Rogue. "Here hun." She said, placing it on the back of Leila's neck.
"Dat be de worst sickness." Gambit said, leaning against the sink and crossing his arms over his chest. "Pauve ti bete."
"Ya don't gotta stay up, hun. Ah got it." Rogue said, winking up at him.
"Nah, y' should be goin' on t' bed." He said, standing up straight. "Need yo' rest."
"Ya sure?" She asked, standing.
"Oui." He said, giving her a kiss before he lightly slapped her thigh. "I take care o' her."
Heading back into the bedroom, Rogue slipped under the covers and quickly fell asleep.
Opening his eyes, Gambit realized he had fallen asleep sitting beside Leila's bed with his back against the wall. Looking up, he saw her fast asleep with the wash cloth still on her forehead. Smiling, he leaned forward and lightly moaned as his body protested the movement. Getting to his feet, he took the wash cloth and threw it in the hamper. They would have to clean the shit out of their room. He sure as hell didn't want a stomach virus and he especially didn't want Rogue to get it. She'd be puking her guts out on her own soon enough.
Walking into their bedroom, he saw Rogue still in bed. They both, apparently, had slept through their alarms and it was well passed nine o'clock.
"Merde." He muttered under his breath as he knelt down and placed his hand on the side of Rogue's face. "Anna. Anna, wake up."
"Mm." She lightly moaned as she opened her eyes and blinked a few times. "What?"
"We overslep'." He said, seeing her eyes go wide as she sat up. "It's nine thirty."
"Dammit!" She muttered as she threw the covers off. "What happened ta tha alarm?"
"Don' know." Gambit said, standing and walking over to his dresser and opening the top drawer.
A knock sounded on their door. "Anna? Remy?" It was Jean.
Rogue opened the door to see a worried look on Jean's face. "Hey gal. Ah'm sorry. Leila's got tha stomach flu and we slept through tha alarm." She explained.
"I'm sorry she's not feeling well." Jean said. "Do you want me to stay with her?"
"Don' need t' be 'round dat sickness, Jeanie." Gambit said. "Y' wanna fill in fo' m' classes? I stay an' watch her."
Jean shrugged. "I don't mind. Do you need anything?" She asked as she looked at Rogue.
"No." Rogue shook her head. "Ah'll be down in a minute."
"Alright. I'll see you downstairs." Jean said as she left the room and Rogue closed the door.
"Mommy?" They heard Leila call from her bedroom.
Heading into her room, Rogue smiled as she walked over and knelt down beside Leila's bed. "What is it, love?" She asked, placing her hand on the girl's forehead to feel it burning up.
"Are you going to stay with me?" Leila asked on the brink of tears.
"Baby, ah can't stay with ya." She said. "Daddy's gonna stay here, alright?"
"Okay." Leila softly said, looking at her door as Gambit walked in and smiled.
"Rest up now, sugah." Rogue said, kissing her forehead before she left the bedroom to get dressed for the day.
"Y' feelin' hungry, petit?" He asked, walking over and sitting down on the edge of her bed.
She shook her head as he leaned over and felt her forehead.
"Gonna need t' get dat cold rag on yo' fo'head again." He said as he stood up and went to get another before coming back and placing it on her forehead. "How's dat feel?"
"Good." She weakly said as she closed her eyes and let out a deep breath. "I don't feel good."
He smiled. "I know." He said, sitting back down on the edge of her bed. "Jus' try an' rest. I go get y' some medicine, eh?"
"Don't leave." She plead as her eyes started to tear up.
"Awe." He said, lightly chuckling at how pitiful she looked. "Petit. Y' breakin' m' heart. Here, I call uncle Hank t' bring y' some medicine, d'accord?"
"Mm hmm." She said, closing her eyes before sitting up quickly.
Grabbing the bucket that was by her bed all night, Gambit placed it in her lap just as she threw up.
When she was done, she started to cry. "It tastes bad!" She cried.
"I know." He said, setting the bucket down before he rubbed her back gently. "Yo' body jus' tryin' t' get dat sickness out. Ici, lay back down and rest. Dat bucket be right t'ere. Ima call Uncle Hank."
After several minutes, Beast showed up with some fever reducing medicine. "If she can't keep anything down, there really is no point in giving this to her." He said, looking at Leila from the bedroom door.
"But she got a bad fever." Gambit said, the worry on his face apparent.
Beast smiled at him. "Her fever will break. Don't worry, my friend." He said as he placed his hand on Gambit's shoulder. "I know it's hard to watch your child be in this state, but trust me when I say it'll be over soon. How often is she throwing up?"
Gambit shrugged. "Las' night it was 'bout every hour." He said. "Dis mornin' she only do it de one time dat I seen."
"Well, in a few hours try and get her to eat some crackers. I believe we have 7-Up in the pantry. I'll gather everything and be back. You just stay with her." Beast said as he left the room.
